Move request disappearing in exchange admin center!!

Hi
I was able to use 2013 EAC to move mailboxes without any issues.  However out of nowhere there is a problem.  When I try to move a mailbox using EAC, the job disappears immediately after I set it up!!!!.  Event log shows an error.  Event
id 9001 "could not contact migration services on serverXXX".  The same thing is happening for users that are in 2013 DBs.
Powershell commands do not show anything either (get-moverequest).  I am able to do the move using powershell in the meanwhile but EAC is broke when it comes to migrating mailboxes.
I have rebooted all exchange 2013 servers to no avail.  All the services are running.
Would you please help?
Thanks

Hi
1.  It happens on new & old mailboxes
2. Ask for the screenshots; getting the same result using both methods.  It disappears
3. Firewall is enabled.  I disabled it but didn't help anything.
4. I checked exchange servers in active directory users and computers.  Inheritance box is checked
I guess I just had about enough of this nonsense.  So I went into super detailed mode.
I deleted all the arbitration mailboxes including discovery & federation > propagated changes in AD > checked all DCs to make sure they don't exist > made sure exchange doesn't see them anymore > recreated them using setup /prepareAD >
propagated changes in AD > checked all DCs to make sure they exist all across > enabled the mailboxes using management shell with arbitration parameter > set the migration mailbox with management true parameter > propagated the changes AGAIN in
AD > stepped away for about 1 hour > checked for migration mailboxes in 2013 to be sure all of the new mailboxes are seen > tested using EAC =
Success
By the way recreating them does not put back the quota or display names.  Not a big deal I guess.
Thank you all.

  • Exchange Admin Center 2013 SP1 worked for a day and then stopped working, possible OAB problems

Here is a problem that has me confused. On a fresh Windows Server 2012 R2, I installed Exchange 2013 SP1. It was successful and for the first day everything was working well. I then installed all security updates. The next day, I could no longer log in to

My first guess is to reset the Outlook Address Book by using the Remove-OabVirtualDirectory Exchange commandlet. But I am not so sure this will work because Exchange worked for a day. Any help understanding what caused the problem (and thus help avoid it
happening again) and how to fix it are appreciated. Thanks.

    hi,
If nothing works try resetting the Virtual Directories.
    For  owa
Open Exchange Management Shell (EMS), and then run the following cmdlet to change the authentication method of the "owa" virtual directory to Windows authentication:
set-Owavirtualdirectory -identity "MBX\owa (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $True -Basicauthentication $false
    -Formsauthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For  ECP
    Start Windows PowerShell.
Type the following commands, and then press Enter after each line:
    Add-PSSnapin *exchange*
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "MBX\ecp (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $true -FormsAuthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For Ref: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123752(v=exchg.150).aspx
I did those commands. But remember, the original error I gave was related to the OAB virtual directory, not ECP or OWA. I also did the Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory, Remove-OabVirtualDirectory, and Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory commandlets and the corresponding
EcpVirtualDirectoryOabOwaVirtualDirecoty ones. I still cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center. And I still have the same original generic unhelpful error message.
However, there are some changes. After I removed and re-added the virtual directories I no longer received the original error logs given above. I now get this log in the event viewer:
Event 2001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
[Owa] Failed to load SSL certificate.
The first logs I gave above always appeared after attempting to log in. This log that I gave appears infrequently and is not connected to any log in events. This log occurs only
after a similar log given below:
Event 1001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
    [Owa] Application Starting.

  • Disconnect mailbox not appear in Exchange admin center 2013

    Hi,
I have installed exhange 2013. In the Exchange admin center, I have deleted user1 and disabled user2.
When I have looked under the connect a mailbox, there is no mailbox.
I am trying to assign disable mailbox to another user
    Please advise
    Thanks

    Hello,
You may have to manually run the maintenance on the database before the next scheduled automatic activity for the same. The following cmdlet can help you: Remember to substitute your database name
    Get-MailboxStatistics -Database "Database Name" | Where { $_.DisconnectReason -ne $null } | ForEach {Update-StoreMailboxState -Database $_.Database -Identity $_.MailboxGuid -Confirm:$false}

  • Exchange Admin Center repeatedly asks for password

I have installed Exchange 2013 CU6 to be part of a hybrid in-house/Office365 email domain for a small non profit agency. Exchange seems to have installed correctly. However, I cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center (or OWA, or ECP). The login screen
accepts the user name and password, blinks, and asks for the password again as if nothing happened. If I put in a bad password or user names, it give me a username/password failed error. Therefore, I know it is recognizing the correct password.
I have tried IE on the Exchange server and other domain computers, and all act the same way. I have created another account and Exchange enabled it, and it acts the same way all around. I cannot find any error messages on the Exchange server. The domain
and forest are at 2008 R2 levels, and all domain controllers are 2008 R2. The Exchange server is on 2012 (not R2).
I have done some searching and not found anyone else describing a similar problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the following URL to access EAC and OWA to check the result.
    https://%computername%/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
    https://%computername%/OWA?ExchClientVer=15
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • New Local Move Request Script for Exchange 2010 mailboxes

Hi I would like to have a script that can enable me automatically move mailboxes of certain domains to a new mailbox database. E.g.  new local move request to move only 20 mailboxes in mailboxdatabase01 with the domain name:  mymove.com, moving
it to mailboxdatabase05. Also, I want to be able to adjust the number of mailboxes to move. Thanks in advance.

Wrap this, or something similar, into a script that filters out the users with that domain in a particular DB.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876878(v=exchg.141).aspx
And some filtering examples are in here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2014/03/24/powershell-filtering-examples.aspx
I doubt there is a sample script out there that does exactly what you want, so you'll have to do some coding.

  • CANNOT ACCES EXCHANGE ADMIN CENTER (ECP) ON EXCHANGE SERVER 2013. GOT HTTP 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR

HI, I just installed Exchange server 2013 Standar SP1 on a windows server 2012.  I have 3 servers one is a Domain Controller, the other one has the MBX role, and the last one the CAS role,  first i installed the MBX and after the CAS role, i passed
prerequisite check without any issue.  However when I tried access Exchange Admin Centre (ECP) at https:\\servername\ecp
I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error saying  "This website cannot display the page.  Most likely causes: 1. The website is under maintenance. 2. The website has a programming error."   I tried access ECP at https://localhost/ecp and
I got the same problem.  Under either cases I was able to see the logon page of  ECP and I was able to enter my credential (e.g. domain\user name, password).  However I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error at the next page.
I appreciate your help, on my case.

  • What is the search syntax when trying to filter recipients in Exchange Admin Center?

I'm hoping it's just an oversight on my part but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to perform an advanced search. Interesting enough, when you start typing it provides tokens but there doesn't appear to be any wildcard options. As an
example we have a multi-tenant environment, and I want to search for all those whose email address contains "contoso" -- Zero results.
I think okay, perhaps I should use the ellipsis to jump into the Advanced search dialog. Same results -- zero. Oh wow, there's that handy Help link in the top-right corner. That will set me on the correct path. *Click* oh wow, it takes me to a TechNet Library
page titled "Recipients > Advanced Filter" but alas it is still waiting to be populated with content.
I've been hunting around but to no avail. It seems there clearly a push to use PS for any administrative tasks. As much as I'm on board with this, there is definitely
beauty is having a web-based console at my fingertips.
Perhaps we are expected to the same recipient filter syntax? -eq -ne -like

    Hi,
EAC in Exchange 2013 is different from EMC in exchange 2010.The filter has changed and wildcards are not supported.

  • Problem with Exchange Admin Center Web page Layout.

    Hello Everyone,
I am facing one problem in Exchange 2013 CU2, ECP web page.
when I enter the URL of ECP the page loads properly and after entering the user credentials the ECP layout changes. To resolve the issue I have tried resetting the ECP virtual directory but no luck.

And for reference attached is the screenshot of the Page Layout.

  • Exchange Admin Center redirects to Office365

We are running Exchange 2013 in a hybrid mode connected to exchange online and exchange 2010 internally.
Whenever I go the url for EAC, it redirects me to OWA and sends me to my office365 inbox.
I have confirmed that I have Organization Management rights and have always (and still can) manage Exchange 2010 internally.
Has anyone else run into this situation?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Let’s begin with the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/09/20/the-cloud-on-your-terms-part-ii-managing-hybrid.aspx
And I’d like to say it’s an expected behavior that an error will appear if you modify recipients in hybrid mode from the “Office 365” side as this would result in the recipient being out-of-date on one side of the cross-premises deployment. In fact, this
operation is blocked by Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) runtime validation rules to prevent divergence of copies (see the error message below).
Thus, before we go further, I’d like to ask the following questions:
    1. What’s the detail error?
    2. How do you manage your Exchange server when the issue happens?
    Thanks,

Why would you go for nested OU inside the default OUs? ;-)
i have more then 1 domain controllers and sites .. it was done to implement different policies on different DCs .. and to standardize the things in better way
Are you saying that you had an empty OU in the root domain, which caused the error?
no the error way bcos of my domain controllers were in nested OU .. i move them to root OU .. at the same time i remove
empty OU in my domain (it was for test purpose etc.). not sure if the empty OU were also causing problem .. but for sure it were nested OU under "domain controllers OU" ...

  • Exchange 2013 - Exchange Admin Center unable to login

    Hello
I am experiencing issue with the ability to login to the ECP in Exchange 2013 SP1 living in Co-Exist with Exchange 2010 SP3.
It is very random, at times I can login and everything works fine, other time I try to login and nothing happens the page recycles back to the login page without outputting any error. I am trying to recreate the ECP virtual directory by the following:

    Hi,
Please make sure access the EAC by using the correct URL. If you’re in a coexistence scenario and your mailbox is still housed on the Exchange 2010 Mailbox server, we should access the EAC in Exchange 2013 by using the following URL: https://CAS15-NA/ecp?ExchClientVer=15.
Conversely, if you want to access the Exchange 2010 ECP and your mailbox resides on an Exchange 2013 Mailbox server, use the following URL: https://CAS14-NA/ecp?ExchClientVer=14.
To rebuild the ECP virtual directory in Exchange 2013, we can try the following commands:
Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity “Exch13\ecp (Default Web Site)”
New-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server Exch13 -WebSiteName "default Web site" -InternalUrl “https://Exch13.domain.com/ecp”
Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Exch13\ecp (Exchange Back End)"
New-EcpVirtualDirectory -WebSiteName "Exchange Back End" -Server Exch13
Then restart IIS service by running iisreset /noforce from a command prompt window.

    Hello
I just installed exchange 2013 and I connect to the new url  https://<CASServerName>/ecp
but the problem is that on the upper left corner I have only Outlook Web app
I dont have the enterprise TAB to create mailbox and to manage Exchange ?????????

    Hello,
When you use the url: https://CASServerName/ecp , if you want to access EAC, you need to have organization management permission.
Please use get-rolegroupmember "organization management" cmdlet to check if you are a member of management role group. If you don't have this permission, please use add-rolegroupmember "organization management" cmdlet to add your account to the management
    role group.

  • Exchange 2013 shell mailbox move requests showing up on 2010 hub server

We're in the process of migrating from exchange 2010 to 2013. All servers are patched and up to date. We have two 2010 CASs (one for external OWA use only) and a mailbox cluster. Our exchange 2013 setup is almost a mirror with the exceptions of how the exchange
    server roles have changed.
Any new-moverequest commands entered from the either of our exchange 2013 CAS servers fail to show up in the EAC/recipients/migration page.
If the local move request is done in the EAC the batch(es) show up just fine.
The more perplexing part is: while I was going through a 2010 hub (looking for a different issue) I noticed ALL the batches/mailbox moves that weren't showing up in the 2013 EAC were listed in the 2010 move request section.
I can't get any info on the moves in the 2010 console (because they're 2013 jobs) but i can get statistics and such from a 2013 shell.
    any ideas?

Are you running ex2013SP1 CU6? Can you try to update n check?

  • New mailbox move request Exchange 2010 : queued

I have deployed new Exchange 2010 server in Exchange 2003 Organization.  It is simple setup one Exchange 2003 and   New Exchange 2010.
I was trying to move mailbox from Exchange 2003 to 2010 and it has status of QUEUE “indefinetly”.. I have tried several mailboxes  and result is the same.
Then I decided to create new database on Exchange 2010 sever. I have crate new mailbox on Exchange 2010 sever, send and receive some emails. And then try to move mailbox to new database. Same results.
I run test MSR replication and is ok.
I have increase msr LOGGING TO Maximum, no errors. I have rebooted server several times, no differences…

    Hi,
Based on the description, status of mailbox move request from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 is "indefinitely".
Please make sure mailbox databases in Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003 are mounted.
Have you moved mailbox using the New-MoveRequest with the BadItemLimit and the AcceptLargeDataLoss parameters? If not, it's worth to do it again. Before you create a new move request, please check if there is any previous move request. If there is, please
clear the previous move request and then move the mailbox.
If the issue persists, please try to move mailbox to another database in Exchange 2003 and then move to Exchange 2010 to check the result.
