Move things to lvlib

I am creating a folder structure of code that I copy from another folder.  Both folders reside on the same PC, so I thought I would put everythign in the new folder in a lvlib to avoid naming conflict.  When I tried that, it didnt' work.  Some subfolder would refuse to get into the lvlib.  There is no error message, so I don't know why.  What is the best way of doing what I want to do?
Kudos and Accepted as Solution are welcome!

Lets take the easilly reproducable case of a pair of instrument drivers -Plug-n-Play (Project style).
Call them "ABC.lvproj" and "XYZ.lvproj" and locate them in seperate folders inside <LabVIEW>\Instr.lib\
Each driver project contains a lvlib  The lvlib members know they belong to a lvlib (and their scope- but thats not important here)
Assuming each driver has a "Initialize.vi" (no real stretch there)  "ABC.lvlib:Initialize.vi" and "XYZ.lvlib:Initialize.vi" are located at different disk locations and have different fully qualified names.  Code within "Test.lvproj" will know they are different and load both dependancies.
Project Templates let you protect the fully qualified names too.  Creating your project template with good use of lvlibs (like you see in the examples) helps but is only part of what you buy with your own template project.  When creating your "use projects" from template you get to add to the namespacing.  Lets assume your template project contains some semi-reuse code like "Display Time.vi"  that you might want to appear slightly different in each project you create.  The project creation wizard helps by allowing an optional prepended rename.  So, "Display Time.vi" scripts out to the new project as "TestX_Display.lvlib:TestX_Display Time.vi on TextX_Test.lvproj/My Computer" assuming you just created "TestX_Test.lvproj" from template and "Display Time.vi" is a member of Display.lvlib on your template "Test.lvproj" and is targeted to My Computer.
That "Fully Qualified Name",TestX_Display.lvlib:TestX_Display Time.vi on TestX_Test.lvproj/My Computer,  is hard to mistake and not likely to exist in "TestY_Test.lvproj"
I probably could have been clearer.  But, you can avoid creating  projects that have vis with identical Fully Qualified Names but different code.

  • Best practice to move things between various environments in SharePoint 2013

Hi All SharePoint Gurus!! - I was using SP deployment wizard to move Sites/lists/libraries/items etc. using SP Deployment Wizard (spdeploymentwizard.codeplex.com) in SP 2010. We just upgraded to SP 2013. I have few Lists and Libraries that I need to push
into the Staging 2013 and Production 2013 environment from Development 2013 environment. SP Deployment Wizard  is throwing error right from the startup. I checked SP 2013 provides granular backups but is restricted to Lists/Library level. Could anybody
let me know if SP Deployment Wizard works for 2013? I love that tool. Also, Whats the best practice to move things between various environments?

    Hi Khushi,
I want to let you know that we built
    SharePoint Migration tool
MetaVis Migrator that can copy and migrate to and from on-premise or hosted SharePoint sites. The tool can copy entire
sites with sub-site hierarchies, content types, fields, lists, list views, documents, items with attachments, look and feel elements, permissions, groups and other objects - all together on at any level of granularity (for
example, just lists or just list views or selected items). The tool preserves created / modified properties, all metadata and versions. It looks like Windows Explorer with copy/paste and drag-n-drop functions so it is easy to learn. It does not require any
server side installations so you can do everything using your computer or any other server. The tool can copy the complete sites or just individual lists or even selected items. The tool also supports incremental or delta copy based on the previous migrations.
The tool also includes Pre-Migration Analysis that helps to identify customizations.
    Free trial is available:
http://www.metavistech.com . Feel free to contact us.
Good luck with your migration project,
    Mark

  • After having the Apple Store erase my HD, now I need authentication and password to move things from a downloads folder to another folder in Finder. WHY? And how can I change this?

I'm trying to move things from the downloads folder into a folder that is over there on the left in the sidebar. Every time I try to move something, I get this message and then I have to give my password. I didn't have to do that previously and I sure don't want to do it now, either. I've checked and checked and cannot find where I would go to change this setting. Does anyone know where I should look?
The Apple Store erased my HD on Friday and I had to restore from Time Machine. my OS is Mavericks and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

That has been like that since Firefox 3.0 was released in June 2008 - 7 major version releases thus far with it like that and the developers haven't changed it - so I wouldn't count on it.
When I want to save a duplicate bookmark, I just "grab" the website image in the Location Bar and drag it into the Bookmarks Sidebar, into the folder where I want it placed. On Windows and Linux, { Ctrl + B } opens the sidebar and then just drag.

  • How do i move things to the cloud

I want to move things from my mac book and my iPad into the cloud.  I have 200 gigs of cloud space and only using 17 gigs.  I don't know how to move things to the cloud

There are two ways to store things in iCloud - iCloud Drive and iCloud Photo Library (Beta).
You can store all kinds of documents on iCloud Drive by dragging the documents to the iCloud Drive icon in the Finder sidebar on your Mac, see:  iCloud Drive FAQ
iCloud Drive will update the documents across all your devices, but i will keep shadow copies on the devices. You will not free space by moving documents to iCloud Drive.
iCloud Photo Library (Beta). lets you store your photos in iCloud and keep only optimised, smaller versions on the devices, but it is only available on your iPad, iPhone. For the Mac it is only as Beta version available, see:  Apple - OS X - Photos Preview

You connect the drive, and if it's not already prepared for use with a Mac, partition it with a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and a GUID Partition Table (click the Options button for that). Once that's done, just drag whatever files you want to move to the external and then delete them from the internal.

  • How to get rid of the main text box in the back of the page AND move things

I usually work in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, but am creating two newsletter templates in Pages for a colleague, since it will be easier for her. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get rid of the main text box in the back of the page that is driving me crazy. I just want a nice blank page that I can do whatever I want with. AND, I can't figure out how to select things so that I can move them, like shapes and text boxes. Some things seem to move fine, then other things just sit there. I am at the end of my rope!!!

    Hi, Dylan. Welcome to Discussions.
If you're referring to the area where you just start typing when you open a new blank document, you can't get rid of it. But you also don't have to use it. You can insert text boxes and size and position them as you desire. Just be sure they're defined as Fixed on Page. When one is full and you want to continue it to another page (or to the side), click in the blank blue box on the lower right side of the text box. That will create another box and your overflow text will flow into it. Then position it where needed.
Also, you can create a text box the width of the page and then set it for 2 or more columns.
When you want to send something to the back and you may want to access it again later, just use the send backward command. If you send it all the way to the back, it will be behind the main text layer (where it will be safe from acvcidental movement) but you will have to click outside the work area and then drag the pointer to the object to select it.
Hope this helps to get you started.

  • I can no longer drag and drop things in Photoshop Elements 12. I can move things with my keyboard, but not my mouse. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

When I got Elements 12 (May 2014), I was able to drag and drop things such as cut/pasted items, watermarks, etc. As of 2 weeks ago, I can no longer use my mouse to drag and drop. If I try, it just snaps back wherever it was before I tried to drag it. With that said, the item will move if I use my keyboard. It takes an eternity. WHAT IS GOING ON?! I just really want to use my mouse again...

Install the 10.10.1 update. That should do it.

  • I have installed a lacie porsche design 1tb external hard drive but how do I move things onto it so my mac speeds up

Hi Can anyone help? My Imac (about late 2008) was running very slow and I realised I had very little memory left on it so I was advised by the online chat buddy at Apple to buy an external hard drive. I have bought a lacie porsche design 1tb external hard drive which is great but how do I transfer things on to it so my computer works faster. I woudl imagine the buggest files I have are both photos and music (all bought form itunes).
Any help would be very much appreciated?
    Thanks

How much free drive space is there? Right click on the Macintosh HD folder (or however you may have renamed it) and select Get Info.
The OS needs around 10 GB for its operation, but not all of that room is necessarily always needed. Depending on how close you get to the edge, creating more free space won't necessarily do anything to speed things up. It can certainy happen, but it's mostly a myth that low drive free space is a cause of slowdowns. This applies especially to zombie suggestions you may often see here to clear a certain minimum percentage of the drive out.
My recommendation would be to keep 10 GB free, plus room for anticipated expansion of your own files. So a ballpark might be at around 20-25 GB, but your mileage may vary, depending on how you use the computer.
If you have at least 10 GB free, then I'd say low drive space isn't causing your performance issue. Of course, moving things out isn't necessarily a bad idea either, if it's really needed--but you do realize that whatever you move out to an external drive will need to be backed up as well.
First backup everything, as this may be a symptom of a failing hard drive. This won't exhaust all the possibilities for the causes of the slow downs, but here are some things to start with: Open Disk Utility and select the drive, not the startup volume. What does it say for SMART Status, verified or not? You can better check to health of the drive with the demo of SMART Utility.
Next, open Activity Monitor. It's in the Applications folder inside the Utilities sub-folder of the main Hard Drive folder ("Macintosh HD", unless you have renamed it.) Go to the System Memory tab and take a screenshot of the bottom section only. (Screenshot is Cmd-Shift-4.) To insert it into your post use the camera icon above. Being low on RAM/memory can cause these kinds of symptoms. Like this:
In addition, see if there's any process or application consuming an inordinate amount of CPU. How much CPU is idle?

  • How do you move things?

I'm brand new to DW8. I took an online course from a
technical college and I've gone through all of the tutorials. I'm
from a 14 year graphic design background (Photoshop and Quark) so I
kind of expected DW to be a little more intuitive.
So the question is... Is there a way to move text and images
where you want them? From my background with PS and Quark you just
move them. If I want text over (or on top of) an image, I just move
it there. For the most part I can move it a little. I can align it,
lol. Can you move images around? On top of each other?
So, am I missing something? I would assume that this is
everyone's first problem... unless they grew up on MSWord and don't
    expect to really do much.
I kept waiting to cover this in the tutorial or the class. I
went about a dozen pages deep on this forum and didn't really find
anything. I see the very thing I'm talking about on most web sites.
How do they do it? How do they put text in a button and that text
is not a graphic? How do they put images or anything on top of
another image. For example, how do you insert a background image
and then put anything on top of it? All I can do is put images or
text NEXT TO other images and text. In fact, that seems to be the
    only option.
Sorry, I know my own ignorance is the problem, but its so
    frustrating.
    Thank you,
    Tom

I trust you intended a significant level of disrespect to the
    teacher and

  • How do I move things in my desktop?

My desktop seems frozen. I cannot move files into my folders, or move files/folders around. There are things in my trash I want to move to my desktop that I cannot. Nothing will move.

Hold down the Power button for 5-10 seconds to shutdown the computer. Wait one minute. Restart the computer into Safe Mode then restart normally. Safe mode startup is much slower than a normal one, so be patient.

  • Transferred purchases to new computer cannot move things to iPhone

So I bought a Macbook Pro and am trying to transfer my iPhone to that computer as my primary computer now.  I have transferred the purchased and authorized the computer but I am still not able to add music to my phone or edit anything in my phone from iTunes.  Any help is appreciated.

I get no error message, I can view everything on the phone it just will not let me delete things off of it or add to  it.  I can still hook it up to my old computer and manage it but my whole goal is to switch over completely to the new computer.
I have only copied portions of my music library to my new computer with the belief that I would need to redo it all at somepoint on the phone.
I am not willing clear my phone to get this to work.

I am trying to download a few games for my sister when we go abroad but when I try to it says that my iPod has no available storage and that I can manage this in settings but I have no idea how to please help!!! Oh and could you explain icloud to me as well?

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match, iCloud will only hold your iTunes purchases.
II think the messages is telling you to go to Settings>General>Usage. Thee you can see what is using storage so you know how much storage you will regain by deleting stuff.

Background: My son is looking to be more independent and wants his own iTunes account. He has amazed over two weeks of media, plus many apps. He paid for most of them with gift cards r other ways. So,man he keep what he bought or will he have to start all over again?

Content is tied to the account that originally bought it, and it's not currently possible to transfer content from one account to another. As long as the content is on the computer that he syncs to (and the account is authorised on it) then he should be able to continue using it.
