Moved house and am now on the wrong exchange

Hey guys.  I'm hoping that someone could give me a straight answer as to where to go from here before I head to Telecommunications Ombudsman as I'm over trying to speak with people that are not willing to help.  I moved house 6 months ago from another part of our city. The exchange in the city supplied me with bareable speeds of 1.5 meg a second (which is funny because a lot of you are complaining of 5 meg a second) However now I can only download at a MAX off 450 - 500kbps; absolutely appauling!  Now, I have checked as to which exchange I am currently connected to and Telstra still have me on the same exchange I was on before I moved. It's now 4km from my house.  There is an exchange that supplies ADSL 2+ to my area that is only 1.5kms away and yet Telstra do not want to negotiate and help get me on the correct exchange. I will guarantee you that there will be people in my exact position that have moved to the other side of town and should be moved to the other exchange to allow for available ports for the people who ARE PAYING for high dollars for a terrible terrible service. I can't even stream NETFLIX without it switching between different bitrates constantly.  Anyone know what my next move is? Because unfortuantely it is all Telstra infrastructure and no other provider can help me because of that.  PLEASE HELP ME!! Thanks for your time guys.  Michael

Jup has hit the nail right on the head there my friend. Sometimes it's a bit of a lottery as to where lines run to and from, can very much depend on the age of the exchange, eg. when one exchange was comissioned compared to another, the area being serviced etc. and certainly a whole new set of lines (duplication) wouldn't be entertained to run in the opposite direction.

    When you say your superdrive rips, the import speeds are typically around 20x, what encoding method and bit rate are you using ?
    I imported another CD and watched for what import speed numbers were displayed. Routinely, they hovered around 8x and sometimes up to 12 or 13x, but never higher. I was told by someone at our local user's group meeting that ripping at AAC 192kbps was a double-pass, I think that was the words they used, and therefore slower. ( Many members thought 7 minutes to rip was typical ) I'm not so sure if that means the drive will only spin at half it's rated max speed ? Anyway, I walked over to my son's PC with the CD and ripped it at AAC 192kbps to his iTunes library. The numbers I saw were from 18x to frequently 23, 24 and sometimes briefly to about 26x. His drive has a max of 40x. By my reasoning, anything that would cause iTunes to rip this CD at a slower speed, whether due to the encoding rate or the CD's surface condition, should affect both computers equally, yes ? Yet the drive on the PC performed on average at twice the rate of the iMac. I think it's safe to say the rip speed is comfortably within the operating margins of both drives.
    I'm not yet fully convinced this is normal for an iMac. My CD are in excellent shape. I'm the only one who uses them and I handle them with about as much care as the old audiofiles used to when they handled their vinyl LPs ( well, at least not as far as wearing cotton gloves and sweeping the dust off ). Most of them have absolutely no visible scratches or oily finger prints on their surfaces. I might experiment and see what rates I get if I use MP3 or a lower bit rate for AAC.

    Also I have noticed opened windows that I have not opened.
    I have verified the sharing folder and also the remote access but it not let me turn it off.
    Also I have add a password to my computer and even using the same one it looks like is not working.
    The I photo stopped working, Mac Mail does not let me add rules (this is from one day to the other)
    The computer is mine, the internet I use is payed by me with a password. I did not give permission to anyone to use my computer or share my files.
    In system preferences in the sharing folder is showing everyone and staff.
    My computer is private I do not own a company and I do not have a network set up in my house.
    I had my photos removed from my computer and even after trying to reinstall I photo and fix the Mac Mail is not working.
    I am receiving emails saying that I have sent emails to people that I do not know and including in a time where I am working and not using the computer.
    Any suggestions in how to fix this issue?

    With the multitude of issues you have I would take it to an Apple store or AASP and have them sort it out. Then I would sign up for Apple camp or one on one.

    Could you please visit https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and follow the instructions to get the latest version?  Once installed, please visit the Flash Player Help page and click the "Check Now" button.  Your Flash Player version should now be 17.0.0.134 which is the latest version.  That should fix the blocked plugin issue that you're running into.

    I have uninstalled iTunes from an IBM ThinkPad X40 running XP and I now get the iTunesHelper Error2 screen (Apple Application Support was not found). I do not want to re-install iTunes as I am now a mac user. However I want to get rid of the message from the XP machine as it is irritating and I want to use it standalone for something else.

    When I installed iTunes 7.3 I noticed some artwork
    was gone. I compared the actual file sizes to the
    backup and there was no change at all. I was able to
    get the covers again from the iTS, but as I really
    want to have the artwork inside the files, I tried to
    paste it into the tags (like I used to do since 7.0).
    That doesn't work, after pasting it, the artwork is
    gone again completely, but the files are now 4mb
    bigger. The artwork of these files (about 300 in
    total, and I cant figure out why some and some not)
    can not be browsed, but the rest of the tags is fine
    and the songs play just normal.
    I trashed one of the affected albums and re-added it
    from the backup. Now the tags in iTunes were gone
    completely! I re-entered the correct tags and let
    iTunes get the artwork from the iTS. The artwork
    shows, but not for all files of the album. So again I
    tried to paste it into the tags of all songs, and
    voila: all artwork of this album is gone again and
    the files are 4mb bigger.
    Same behaviour in iTunes 7.3.1.
    I'm happy I have a good backup of my music, and I
    think the artwork is still inside the files, but
    iTunes 7.3 and 7.3.1 mess it up. From what I see only
    non-iTS files are affected, but only iTS artwork is
    lost. NOT nice.
    Any ideas? I'm no really a friend of downgrading...
    After some more time consuming tinkering I still have no luck in giving certain files their artwork back. I better go back to 7.2 tomorrow... Apple keep that lousy 7.3.1 BS yourself

    The 'Blocked plug-in' message is from Safari (Apple), not Flash Player. This either means you have an older version of Flash Player, or internet plug-ins are disabled in the browser.  To verify internet plug-ins are enabled, Go to the Safari Preferences > Security and make sure the 'Internet Plug-ins' checkbox is marked.  The exact location and wording may differ depending on your version of Safari.
    To install the latest version of Flash Player, go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and download the installer, taking note of the download location.  After the download completes, exit out of Safari (and any other app you have that may use Flash Player), go to the 'saved to' location, launch the installer, and follow the prompts to install Flash Player.

    Well, unless you made a backup BEFORE you hit the restore button, your data is gone.

    I have exactly the same problem with my iPod touch 5. The Lovoo application hijacks me to the App Store constantly. It is a nightmare. This is disgusting.

    You cannot, nor do you need to, until you reach the limit of 5.  Once you reach 5, then you can deauthorize all, and then authorize the active computers.
