Moving anchors while keeping handles relative

Hello all,
I am using a script to move anchor points on a path that I have.  When I move the anchors, the handles remain in the same location and I am getting very poor results.  I was wondering if there was a way to move handles WITH the anchor points.  Basically keep them relative to the anchors.
Below is how I am moving the anchor.  I know that you can use leftDirection and rightDirection to move the handles, but I would like them to move the same way they would if you moved the anchors when selecting them in Illustrator.
Set currentPoint = targetPathItem.PathPoints(13)
currentPoint.Anchor = Array(-1537.21, 2735.96)
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Jeff

I think you have to move the Handles separately, they don't follow the Anchor's position automatically.

  • Can I anchor the new mini-player to one screen while keeping iTunes in another on iTunes 11?

I like having my main iTunes window on another screen while I'm browsing so that it doesn't distract me when I'm working. But I like the new mini-player & I ilke the fact that it notifies which song is playing each time it skips to the next one. So what I'd like is to keep the mini-player anchored to one screen (on Mountan Lion) while keeping the main iTunes window or the album artwork window in another one where I only need to go when I want to interact with iTunes in more detail.
This way I can keep the mini-player tucked away in one corner while I browse & I have quick access to the controls & the song info if I need it without having the full screen there. I know that I don't need to have the main iTunes window open all the time & I can simply Option-Command-M to toggle between the 2. But I'd like to have (if possible) the main window open as well on another screen. I have dragged only the mini-player to another screen but iTunes is anchored to the other one (via the dock options) so when I restart iTunes, both players (main & mini) open in the 2nd (non-browser) screen by default.

Thanks for the replies. The only problem with this solution is that any time I restart iTunes, it'll revert back to normal settings and both will pop up on the same desktop. As opposed to when you anchor it to a particluar desktop so that it open there not matter where you are when you launch the software.
I realise as I nitpick over this that may not be a very important issue at all But I just hoped there might be a solution to it. Thanks anyway.

  • CS5: Moving Anchor Points w/ Transform Panel, Not Whole Object

Hey there. Did the digging before asking but nothing came up. I'm pretty green, so I'm sure it's something silly. I'm trying to move specific anchor points on a path a few pixels up from their current position, while keeping everything else where it is, so it'll transform the figure's shape. I'm trying to do it precise by changing it's dimensions, rather than clicking and dragging. Thankfully, that's at least an option because it -does- work when I direct select the points I want and drag them. Problems with that:
    1) I have very little control. If I want the point moved up by whole pixels, I pretty much have to get lucky because it's always in decimal points.
    2) With shapes bordering each other (parts of a complex shape), if I want to move their location to scrunch something (Half circle in a larger half circle, wanting to flatten out the base), if I lift those points up, they leave a gap. As if the top border of the outer circle has another anchor point under the lower of the one above that, and I can't click on it to move everything while they're still touching. I can take screenshots if needed. I'm following a tutorial to get used to the program.
Alternately, I suppose if you have a shortcut for constraining the drag to whole pixels instead of fractions, that's great too. In Photoshop and the like, holding Shift would give me precision, but that's not the case in this tool or perhaps program.
Thanks a bunch. This program is frustrating, but I know I'll have fun with it when I get it.

Hard to decipher exactly what you are asking for, but after reading your post a few times sounds like you want to move vector point by whole pixles amounts.
Have you tried setting your keyboard increment to 1 pixel, and using the cursor keys to nudge points.
If you are working on digital work, you may want to turn on snap to pixel grid, which will also kepep all your times to whole pixel amounts.

  • Transferring music to an external hard drive while keeping play counts

    Hello all.
I received a 250 GB external hard drive for my birthday yesterday as my internal one was getting very full. I decided that I would transfer my 3000+ songs on to it in hopes of clearing some room. Now, I know that once you move a file from its original destination (I did not have the "Copy to iTunes Music Folder" setting enabled) but I have consolidated my library and now everything is in that folder.
I've been having a lot of trouble getting the songs to actually be recognized from my external hard drive even though the whole iTunes folder had been copied there (I was too afraid to delete the original incase it didn't work). I have also went into the iTunes preferences and changed the location of the folder to where it is on my external hard drive, and it updates the library but when it is done nothing is different. When I look at the "info" for songs, they are still shown as on my internal drive.
How do I make iTunes see that my music is on my external drive and for it to start looking there instead of internally while keeping my play counts and playlists?

  • Export from iPhoto while keeping original photo information?? NEED HELP!!!

I'm trying to set up a pc for my grandmother so I can take over her old computer (macbook air). However she has 11000 photos on iPhoto and I need to move then all onto a storage device (about 30GB) but when I export them the computer doesn't copy all the information such as the date the photo was taken etc. Talking to a guy in the apple store he said i couldn't do it, but he was being pretty unhelpful so I was wondering if anyone here could give me an answer. How do you export from iPhoto while keeping all the information?

    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
    As to dates specifically:
There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • How to delete raw files while keeping original jpgs/later versions?

I'm using Aperture currently, which apparently can't do this -- if Lightroom can, I'm switching.
What I'd like to do is shoot everything in raw + jpg (using Nikon D200), and then keep the raw files only for the important shots.
I really like having the option of raw processing, but the storage demands are obviously very big. If I could just make a selection of multiple photos, and have a command to delete all the raw files from the selected photos, while keeping the original jpgs, that would be great.
Also, it would be great to be able to manipulate a raw file, and then when I'm satisfied with the image, to generate a full-size jpg & ditch the raw file. The jpg then becomes the master for that image.
Basically, I want the raw file safety net for everyday images, without gobbling up gigabytes of disk space every time...
    Can Lightroom do this?

I am unable to hide RAW files in Bridge.
And I can't delete or rename them in Windows Explorer.
    I'm using XP SP3.
Rejected RAW files appear in Bridge as unlabeled files. They are not hidden. "Show Hidden Files" is not checked; "Show Reject Files" is NOT checked. I've got the Label settings on. I created a subfolder and moved a batch of rejected RAWs there. They still show up, but at least they're labeled "Rejected."
Delete: I have a big sort to do, and I'd even be willing to delete these RAW files to avoid seeing them in Bridge.
I tried deleting them in Bridge using several methods, but I get an error message that tells me I don't have the "sufficient permissions." This happens even when I try to delete just one file.
I also tried deleting them in Windows Explorer. There, I got an error message that theyare in use by another program. I cannot re-name them in Explorer either. I got the same error message even when I shut down my computer and opened ONLY Windows Explorer. In Properties > File Attributes, neither Hidden or Read-Only are checked.
This is a big and important project, and I'm TOTALLY STUMPED!

  • Migrate MP3 library to new drive/directory while keeping all iTunes data?

I currently keep my 80 GB MP3 library on a portable E: Drive.
I've always managed my own music folder ex: "E:\MP3\Rock and Alternative\Radiohead" etc. etc.
However, I recently upgraded my system (C:) hard drive and now have room to actually keep all of my MP3s there and would like to move them over to drive C: So the path will read like this: "C:\MP3\Rock and Alternative\Radiohead" while keeping all of my star-ratings, play counts, playlists, etc...
Is there a way to do this?

*How to open a different iTunes library*
Click the icon to launch iTunes and immediately press and _hold down_ the SHIFT key. After a short while you will be prompted to *Choose or create an iTunes library*. This feature can be used to switch between different library files.
The normal layout it that the main iTunes folder goes inside whatever the Windows default music folder is called, e.g. C:\Users\Michael\Music\iTunes for you on Windows 7. Inside the iTunes folder are a bunch of library files and a folder called iTunes Music or, post iTunes 9, iTunes Media. Provided all your content is inside this media folder you can relocate the enclosing iTunes folder at will. The steps I outlined above are an attempt to reconnect your library so that it becomes portable. I realise your music is already in the E:\MP3 folder, but I don't don't know what value you have under Edit > Preferences > Advanced > iTunes Media Folder Locataion. After copying your library files to E:\ and opening the library there you need to make sure that this setting reads E:\MP3 otherwise the next step of copying back to C:\Users\Michael\Music\iTunes may not work. This is also the reason for the cycle of opening and closing iTunes - to make sure that iTunes has a had a chance to switch from using absolute references to your files to relative references (or at least ones that it will update) which it should do if your media is inside the "media folder" before you move or copy the library. Backup the existing content of C:\Users\Michael\Music\iTunes before you copy the content from E:\ so that you can undo the steps you take if it breaks your library.
BTW like you, I manually manage my music, but I don't necessarily advocate this as the best way to do it. If you're prepared to yeild control to iTunes you could just consolidate your library onto the C: drive and allow iTunes to *Keep the iTunes Media* folder organised. If you want to keep manually managing then the best layout is one in which the library is portable. That is a library folder containing a media folder. You can pretty much orgainse stuff in the media folder any way you like but it's more effort than leaving it all to the application. You should also disable any automatic file organising options in Windows Media Player and ideally change it's rip folder to the main iTunes media folder location.

  • Insert to multiple tables while keeping the referential integrity

I would like to confirm whether we can have both updatable and reference for secondary entity. It seems to me that even though both updatable and reference can be checked for secondary entity, the secondary entity is not updatable.
There are some scenarios that I hope to create the "parent" and "child" at the same time in the UI. For example, Employee and ProductExpertise which is in m:m relationship. We have three tables: Employee, EmployeeProduct, and Product. We have two view object, EmployeeVO which contains EmployeeEO, EmployeeProductVO which contains EmployeeProductEO and ProductEO. This can display EmployeeVO as master, and EmployeeProductVO as detail. However when we add a new product for the employee, we can only associate an existing product. We would like to create a new product and associate the product with employee. This cannot be achieved by the current EmployeeProductVO.
I wonder if ADF supports inserting to multiple tables while keeping the foreign key reference integrity? In other words, in a 1:1..* (1 to 1 or 1 to many) relationship, must we have a master-detail view where we add parent first, then add child? Does ADF support adding both parent and child together with the correct foreign key assigned automatically for the child? Do we need to write code to do it?
    Any insight is appreciated.

    Hi,
Assuming you are talking about ADF Business Components, yes, the framework can handle a batch insert that inserts both parent and child records in the same transaction. A few things that you may want to review:
1). If you are using a database sequence for your primary keys (your question "Does ADF support adding both parent and child together with the correct foreign key assigned automatically for the child" made me think perhaps you were), have a read of the Fusion Developer's guide about the DBSequence type.
2). In the same guide, have a read of section 38.8 - it talks about the small bit of code you may need to write to ensure the parent record is posted before the children, and also discusses about associations that are based on DB Sequences.
    Best,
    John

  • Move itunes library from one computer to another while keeping data (e.g date added, play counts etc.)

    Hi guys,
I'm really sorry if this question has been asked before but I just upgraded my computer and I want to move all of my itunes library from my old one while keeping all of my info.
I tried copying the xml files but my new computer has a different location for the songs so they wont show up in the library.

  • Adobe After Effects: Keep "Expression-Relations" when duplicating multiple layers

    Hi there!
Just wanted to ask, whether there is a way to keep the relations of expressions going when duplicating layers. E.g. I have two layers, "LayerA" and "LayerB". Now I have an expression going on in "LayerB" saying, that its position always equals the position of "LayerA". Now when I duplicate those two and get "LayerA 2" and "LayerB 2" I want the expression in "LayerB 2" to reference to "LayerA 2"'s position rather than "LayerA"'s position!
While it is no problem to simply change the expression when there is only one of them, it gets quite hard when you have multiple expressions going on ...
    Thx in advance

So long as you are logged into the iTunes Store, using the correct ID and password (settings >store), then you will always have access to your apps, books, music, TV shows etc etc bought via the iTunes Store on that account.

  • How do I install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings

I need to update my system, I realized that I need Snow Leopard (quiet late) before Maverick. My question is, how can I install it keeping files and all the data. I found this on Internet, does it work?
Install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings
If you follow these steps, the installer will replace your operating system if one is already present, but will preserve your account information and personal files.  You may have to reinstall some applications, however.
Insert the install disc (or the first install disc if you have more than one) into your disc drive. Restart your computer while holding down the c key. This causes your computer to start up from the install disc rather than your hard drive. When you see the gray Apple insignia, release c .
The Mac OS X installer should open automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to read and accept the license agreement and begin the installation. When prompted to choose a destination disk, select your preferred location and click Install.
When the Mac OS X installation finishes with the disc, restart your computer. After the installation completes, a configuration program may begin automatically if you are installing for the first time. You will need to supply basic setup information for your computer.
Update your system software to ensure that you have the most recent operating system components.  From the Apple menu, select Software Update... , and then follow the instructions on the screen. Often, you will have to restart your computer, and you may have to run Software Update multiple times before it can completely update your system.

That's why you need to back it up. You won't need to restore the backup immediately afterwards unless something goes wrong during the upgrade, but you'll need it later; the drive will eventually fail.

  • I cannot open iphoto- the message I am getting says Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Comma

i cannot open iphoto- the message I am getting says Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command-
I tries and it doesnt work!!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • HT204053 3 iphones, 3 ipods and a pad...can we share music while keeping contacts and photos seperate but backed up with 1 apple id and 1 icloud?

I have an apple id account set up with an icloud; I would like to continue to share the music from my devices while keeping the contacts and photos seperate, is this possible?  My wife and daughter received iphones for Christmas, I set up my daughters phone to my cloud and all of my contacts and photos ended up on her phone. Is there a way to keep them seperate in 1 cloud (with folders or something) or does each phone need its own icloud? And if so, can we still keep 1 apple id for music purchases or will we not be able to share music anymore? Thank you for any help you can provide, I am confused with all of this as we are fairly new to the apple world.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes and iCloud are separate things. You can keep using a single ID for iTunes and use separate ID's for iCloud, thereby keeping mail, contact etc separate.
