Moving Attachments automatically

Hi There
Is there any means of doing the following to Apple Mail:
Automatically move (not copy) attachments to a folder and add a link pointing at the moved attachment to the original message?
I have used Musashi which can do this, but cannot use Apple's Address book which made me use Apple Mail instead.
I' looked around for a script that will do this, to no avail.
Thank you for any solution or hints.

Here is a script to get you started. If you save it in ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail it will be accessible from the script menu when mail is active. It will save the attachments from multiple selected mails, prompting you for a folder each time. It should give you some ideas about how to achieve what you want.

  • How it can download email attachments automatically?

I want to have my email attachments automatically downloaded from the server. Outlook does it.
please advice how it could be done?

If you enable View/Display Attachments Inline, picture, html and text attachments will automatically be downloaded and shown below the message body. For other file types, you have to do it manually, although it is possible to create a filter that saves attachments to an external folder.

When you place the mouse over a picture, right click, and select '''Save As,'''
you should be presented with a file menu. From here, you can select how,

  • Print PDF Attachments Automatically...???

    Hello All,
I have an eFax account that emails me a PDF attachment when I get a fax...
Is there any way that anyone can think of that I print the PDF attachments and automatically when an email comes into that account...??
For billing purposes, I open and print them all anyway, so maybe some automation will make my day a little easier...
    Thanks for the input...

Make a rule to fire an applescript when you get one of these.
Have the script save the attachment in a particular folder.
Give the folder a folder action script which sends the new file to the printer.

  • Attachments automatically removed from emails on IPad  the email

When I receive emails the attachments are being automatically removed from the email on my IPad. I have LotusNotes Traveler for my work email. Any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated

When I set up an email account on the iPad 4 (6.1.3), it took my information and defaulted the setup as an IMAP account.  It had always been a POP account but there was no option now to set it up as a POP.  Those tabs at the top were gone.
Before, I would receive the email in my inbox, read it and close it.  It would stay in my inbox until I deleted it.  Now, since it's an IMAP acount, as soon as I read my email on the PC (which downloads it from the server), it disappears from the iPad!  I couldn't find a way to change it back to a POP.
This is how i solved it:
    1.  Delete the existing IMAP account
    2.  Add the same account but give it a bad password thereby preventing iOS setting it up as IMAP
    3.  At that point, it gave me the tabs where i could choose to set it us as POP.  I changed the 'Incoming Server' to the POP address, entered the correct password and saved it.  It verified the settings as POP and all is good with the world.  Now my emails don't disappear from the iPad after I read them on the PC.
I'm not sure when or why the option for IMAP/POP disappeared from the initial setup screen & why it defaults to IMAP.  Maybe it's back in iOS7.. maybe i should update.
(My email is a Cox account and I guess it can be either an IMAP or POP)

  • Email Center - extracting attachments automatically - extracting blobs

I need to automatically extract attachments to the file system from incoming emails. Is there any available functionality to do this - either functional or through coding using APIs. I have tried using DBMS_LOB.read and UTL_FILE.put_raw to dump the contents of a blob field to a flat file but that doesn't result in a file I can then open - e.g. I've tried this on an Excel spreadsheet file. Any ideas on how to progress?
    Thanks

I don't know why your dos code didn't run. It could be
addressing. My limited experience with cfdirectory/cffile/cfexecute
is to type out the complete path at least once.
    Good books?
Hard to say, depends on what else you are new at. If you are
new to html, then htmlgoodies.com has good tutorials. So does
webmonkey.com. If you have trouble with sql, I have heard good
things about the SAMS book, Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes by Ben
Forta. I learned javascript by buying the book Teach Yourself
Javascript in 24 Hours. The O'Reilly books are also good. I learned
awk with one of those books.
Glad you liked the fish pics. The camera is specified on most
of the pages. If it says Reefmaster, I used an external strobe. If
it says Sony I either used the camera flash only or natural light.
By the way, that is not a Cold Fusion site. It's strictly html and
    javascript.

  • PDF attachments automatically opening ???

This just started, but when I attach a PDF file to my email message it is now opening in its entirety in the message body. Some of these PDF files are large and I don't want them to automatically open when I attach them. Why did this start and how do I stop it??
Note: If I attach a "Pages" file, it does not do this. I just get the icon showing the attachment is there. How do I do that (again) with PDF files?? I have no idea whey they just started opening on their own.

In addition to the good answers others have provided, here's a last ditch thing you can try if you absolutely do not want an attachment to "open" in the body of your email message. You can either try placing it in a folder and then attaching the folder to the email message or you can try compressing it into a zip archive and then attaching that to the message. These are extra steps and the results may vary depending on your recipient's email program, as has been pointed out, but this may be helpful to you.

    Steve M.

  • Mail reduces my pictures and attachments automatically

If I write or transmit mails with pictures attached (even if they are attached by Iphoto), mail reduces my Pictures automatically.
How can I send pictures in original size?

Catherine, I'm having trouble with Mail resizing my images, even though I am selecting Actual Size or Large. In the email it generates, the image appears, but at an optimized size, down to 20-40K, from an original or about 4M.
This just started happening suddenly. I've always sent large files, sometimes zipped, but even that isn't working. I found many solutions in Apple Support, but they all say something similar. Here is one.
The problem here is, what does 'Open Terminal' mean? Thanks for your help!
    1. Quit mail
    2. Open Terminal, type:
    defaults write com.apple.mail MaxImageSize 'large'
    3. Press Enter
    4. Open mail again and drag an image to a new message.

  • Deleting Items And Moving Items Automaticly

This is probably a rookie question, but I am new to ID. What is the best way to setup an ID document where if I delete a text box and photo in one row, that the rest of the rows on the pages after move up automatically and line up like I had the deleted row? Or does this have to be done manually?
Reason I am asking is I have a document which is a directory of employees with a description on the left hand side, photos on the right hand side, and I have to remove employees who have left the company. These documents are pages and I would hate to have to manually move everything after that deleted employee.

If it turns out that nothing is threaded and the images are not anchored, and you don't have some sort of database from which to rebuild, my personal plan of attack would be to make a copy of the file, then cut the first image frame and paste it into the start of the first line of text in the listing.
Select the anchored frame and go to Object > Anchored Object > Options... and change the type to "custom" and make the x-coordinate relative to the page or margin and the y-coordinate realtive to the Line. Drag the image frame back to its correct postion in the right column. You may have to revisit the options dialog to get the y-offset where it needs to be. Make a note of the settings.
With it still selected, open the Object Styles panel and check to see if a style is assigned. Most likely, it will have [No Style] because that's the default for any object drawn with a frame tool. If that's true, create a new Object Style which should include the posioning information for anchored objects, as well as any fitting options you need. If there's already a named style assigned, edit the style to include the anchored object settings. Apply the style to the selected frame.
If the frames you checked above had [No Style] assigned, and you are using a version of ID that has Find/Change for objects, you can search for objects with [No Style] and change to the object style you created. If there was already a style, this step is unnecessary. The good news here is that even though you are adding anchored object positioning information to potentially every image inthe document (even those that have nothing to do with the listings), unless the object is actually anchored those settings will have no effect whatever. The bad news is exactly the same thing -- you won't see any changes to the employee images until you go through the file and manually cut them and paste into position inthe first line of the listing (and when you paste there they should appear back where they belong). Move the empty frames too, just in case a image is added later and to be sure the empty frame is deleted along with the corresponding name when that gets removed.
Hard part is now done. Next step is to go to Rorohiko, com and get their TextStitch script (http://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/indesign-downloads/textstitch/). Run the script, delete all but the first two pages of listings, and then delete all but the first lisiting frame on the first page. Resize the frame to fill the page, then pick up the overset and hold Shift as you click at the top of the next page to autoflow the rest of the listings back into the file.

  • E-mail program won't open PDF attachments automatically with Adobe Reader

When I get e-mail with PDF attachment I get a message saying I must open only from trustworthy source.  Then I click it open, but it won't open.  So I click save, and it is saved to desktop where I can then open it with Adobe Reader.  I prefer that Outlook automatically opens it with Adobe Reader when I click it just once.  I have updated Adobe Reader from 9.0 to 9.3.2, and it still won't work,

I have had the exact same problem, i use windows mail because my computer was unable to run outlook for a reason i can't remember and this is dead-set exactly the process i go through constantly. I have unistalled/reinstalled adobe multiple times.

  • Problem with attachments automatically saving as Firefox documents

As my older Dell CPU does NOT have any USB ports, a friend of mine is uploading photos to her laptop with Windows 7 (my computer is running XP) but when she goes to save and attach them to Yahoo! emails sent to me, the photos themselves are completely visible within the body of those emails; attempts I make to save them to my desktop result in their being strictly Firefox documents opening a new FF window every time. While I CAN view them with the Windows photo viewer by specifying it, they still CANNOT be attached/uploaded or are visible within upload windows even after adding the .jpeg file extension and quotes as instructed.....I'm not sure if the issue lies with Windows 7 and her configuration of the attachment mechanism, Firefox and/or Yahoo! conflicts or a combination of everything. Please advise; never had this problem before now!

Ask your friend with the Win 7 OS to zip the images before she sends them to you. Also, she needs to add them as an attachment, not by dragging and dropping them into a mail.
By the way, when you say your 'cpu' doesn't have any USB ports, are you talking about a laptop, or a PC?

  • Files moved automatically to "my pictures" by photoshop?

How do I stop files being moved daily automatically to "my pictures" by photoshop? These are not pictures, but sometimes virus scans, or files that have the PSE logo and seem to contain nothing. On some days there are hundreds of "files?" added to "my pictures".

If your operating system is doing this automatically you may need to change your Windows default settings. The Organizer simply sweeps up anything in My Pictures or a sub folder of My Pictures .
