Moving from PC to MAc, but want to keep all the old iTunes settings! Help!
I did this just fine, from PC to MacBook. But one problem I'm having is that my new iTunes library on the Mac is completely devoid of my old iTunes settings on my pc - my song ratings, my playlists, all the songs I've had checked and unchecked, date added, etc. Is there any way to migrate (I went from pc to mac, all the music files came over no problem) but to keep your iTunes information so you don't have to sort through all the songs all over again!!! Help!
Thanks,
Marty
Hi Martyputz,
This happened, because iTunes on a Windows doesn't really work like iTunes for Mac. Read this [article|http://lifehacker.com/software/itunes/geek-to-live--how-to-move-an-itu nes-library-from-a-pc-to-mac-and-back-242468.php] and follow carefully the instructions...
Hope this helps!

I have my old profile saved in my cloud backup which I downloaded to my desktop. I also downloaded the most up-to-date version of Thunderbird and created a new email address.
'''To make an image of a window:'''
Have the backup window open and in focus.
Hold down 'Alt' key and press the 'Prt Scr SysRq' key
Then open a program like 'Paint'; usually located:
Start> Programs >Accessories
Then use 'Ctrl+V to paste into Paint.
Save image as jpg.
then you can post a reply in this question.
To add the image, click on 'browse', locate image and clickon 'Open'.
You can add more than one image. -

There is no need for seperate Apple IDs.
Connect the device to the computer.
Select what is desired to sync.

I have been trying to recover or reset my password, but the reset email never comes, so I can't change my password. I tried to open a new itunes account to assign my iphone 4 to, but it always defaults to the old itunes account?
Me too! I tried to reset many times the password of my daughter’s id but she never received an email with instructions. :-(

My laptop crashed with mine and my husbands I tunes Library. I have sync my i phone with my work mac but I am still missing some of my songs.
My husband was unable to do this as his i phone broke too and he has no music at all.
Please help.Apple devices are designed to sync with a single library. If you move the device to a new library iTunes will suggest wiping the device and reloading it with the contents of the library on the new computer, even if most of the content is identical. For an iOS device this process would also delete and reinstall any applications which would discard and settings or saved data associated with the apps. You probably don't want to do this.
Ideally you would have migrate the working library from the computer previously used to manage the device (the laptop) to the computer you now want to use (the desktop) before adding other new content into the new computer's library. That way the device would have easily moved from syncing with one machine to the other.
I'm not quite sure what the best next step is at this point. Does the desktop library sync with any other devices?

I lost all my backup and my mac got realy slow...
Any suggestion if it is possible after all to recover my old back up from the time capsule? I guess it lost though.Mount and open the internal disk of the Time Capsule. How many "sparsebundle" files do you see? If you only have one Mac using Time Machine but you see two such files, then one of them has your old data. In this case you may have missed a chance to continue using the old Time Machine file.

New hard drive for mac, how do i move all the old over?
My partitioned HD on my mac now has too small a partition for the OS 10.3 to run stably. As I believe it is impossible to enlarge the partition OS runs on without erasing the whole HD first I want to put a larger HD into the mac. How can I move everything from old HD to new? I have all the panther and relevant application discs but I will lose all my mail messages, music etc. Or at least I will not be able to move them to the new HD etc without a fight.
Is there a simple way? I have the mac that is g4 blue, I think it will take a slave drive
I must stress I don't have a storage problem per se I could just get an external HD if that was the issue. I simply have too big a system now to run well on the stupidly small partition I created years ago. thanks
NNick:
You have given very little information on your computer, so it is difficult to give a comprehensive answer to your issue. A few suggestions:
1. It is neither necessary nor recommended to partition an internal Hard Disk Drive if you are running only one version of OS X on it, except on some older G3 machines which require that OS X be installed on the first 8 GB.
2. You can move/backup your entire HDD including your OS, Users Folder etc. by cloning to another HDD using a utility like SuperDuper
or Carbon Copy Cloner. You can clone to an external firewire HDD, to a second internal HDD, or to a second firewire Mac via Firewire Target Disk Mode. If you tell us exactly what mac you have and what other equipment I can be more specific.
3. It is possible to repartition your HDD on the fly. There are several utilities that are available like Volume Works or iPartition. However, I have not heard of successful repartitioning with those. The only one that I have successful reports from is DriveGenius, which, incidentally, has other functons like Directory repairs and disk defragmentation.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.
Cheers

We recently purchased a new iMac for our office (8 GB memory, 2.7 processor, version 10.9.2) and we need to copy the iPhoto library from our other iMac (version 10.9.4) onto the new one. The photos are essential for our work and there are around 53,000 of them all organised into folders and subfolders and then the photos are manually ordered within the albums.
We have tried connecting the computers but when we tried to access the iPhoto library on the new iMac it says that iPhoto is locked and we do not have permission to view it. We updated iPhoto on the old iMac as we thought that might be the problem but the message still appears. We've been advised to use an external hard drive but we're worried that will corrupt the organisation of the library. We have also been told not to do it over AirDrop / the Server because of the sheer quantity of photos.
Any advice on how to safely do this would be much appreciated. No idea exactly what you did
if you followed the instructions
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
then you have exactly the same thin on your new system that you had on the old
If you do something differently - like import the library instead of simply opening it - then it will not work
did you dimply drag the iPhoto library from the pictures folder of the old machine to the pictures folder of the new machine and then launch iPhoto on the new machine?
and to help it is important to use word correctly since that is the only communications method we have - in iPhoto folders do not contain photos - you view photos in events and you can organize them using albums (which view photos) and folders (which hold either albums or other folders - folders never have photos in them) so your description of the problem is not at all clear since it uses folders incorretly
