Moving SQL Database

Im having issues moving the Primavera data on the local
SQL server (currently on a laptop) onto a networked SQL
server.
All the data has been
copied over, re-created the privuser and pubuser logins -
the connection manager connects succesfully. <br
/>
The problem is when i then open PM.exe
and log in, the progress bar whizzes up to 98% then shows
this error:
Exception Exception in
module PM.exe at 00CDCDAE.<br
/>TCBaseAppSyncVDBEngine.getPrefRow: There is no
preference row in the database.
<br
/>
Any ideas how to solve this and open my
projects?

could you help what is the issue?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to access sharepoint site with one application server.
It was due to the MOM/SCOM Agent that has a SharePoint management pack installed, the agents Windows Service runs as ‘Local System’ and thus causes this.
The workaround is to either kill the SCOM agent service, or set it to run as a dedicated service account.
In addtion, I recommend to add the logon account of the SharePoint Timer service as a user of the SharePoint_Config database. Give role membership to the account db_owner.
You also need to add the SharePoint accounts back into sql server.

  • Moving the Connection Broker SQL database

    Hi
I have a working RDS 2012R2 configured with high availability mode. I now need to move the RD Connection Broker SQL database to new SQL server. Can anyone please point to documentation that specifies how this might be done
    Cheers
    Laurie

    Hi
Well I gave it go and moved to sql2012 and all seems OK. This is what I did
Copy the old DB to the new SQL server. Database file location was same on old and new server
Apply the permissions same as old SQL server
    Logon to RDGATEWAY
    Get/save the current settings by
    Open PowerShell on RDgateway
    Type ipmo remotedesktop
    Type Get-RDConnectionBrokerHighAvailability. Save results
Used the following commandSet-RDDatabaseConnectionString -ConnectionBroker "RDGATEWAYSERVERFQDN"
-DatabaseConnectionString "DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0;SERVER=NEWSQLSERVER;Trusted_Connection=Yes; APP=Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker;Database=NAMEOFSQLDATABASE"
    Detached old DB
    Restarted RDGATEWAY server

    Hi Friends,
We have planned to upgrade our SCCM 2012 SP1 infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 so we have setup test environment to test SQL database upgrade before doing same in production.

    Thanks.

We found out that there were duplicate entries in the PkgStatus_G and the PkgServers_G tables in the SCCM DB.  We identified them, deleted them , and then we were able to run the /TESTDBUPGRADE command and it went through fine.  We performed
all of this on a COPY of the PROD DB and then moved the changes in PROD.  Hope this helps someone.

  • Need Help/Advice with Photo Web Gallery coming from SQL Database

This is my first attempt at a database driven website. I assume what I am trying to accomplish should be fairly easy for more experienced but I am stuck at this point.
First, let me explain what I am trying to accomplish.
I want to create a thumbnail photo gallery displayed in columns and rows. I want to be able to hover over or click on the thumbnail image and have a lightbox script display the image over the thumb page. I am developing locally right now with intent to upload to the hosting site upon completion.
I am developing with ASP vbScript pages. I have an SQL database where the paths to the image thumbnails and pictures are stored in a table. On the gallery page, I have created a div tag to hold my image recordset. Within this div, I have inserted 3 absolute positioned divs to hold the pictureID, the pictureName and the image inserted as a datasource. I then inserted the information from the bindings panel of my recordset. Last, I used a horizontal looper extension from Tom Muck to get the thumbnails to display in columns and rows. Everything works up to this point just fine.
Now, I want to be able to hover or click on a thumnail image and have it displayed in a lightbox. I downloaded and used a javascript called Lightbox 2 which contains 3 javascript files and a css stylesheet. I inserted the files into the head tag like instructed to but could not get things to work properly. Here is where I need help. Currently, I am clicking on the thumbImage binding within the image Div and creating a link holder. I am then binding the larger pictureImage to it with the a.href selected in the bind to. I am then adding the command to call the lightbox javascript. Now, when I test my page, my thumbnail images do not show up (my alt text does in its place) but the links are in place and you can click on the alt text and it will return the correct larger image, but not in the lightbox, just in a new window with no styles.
Am I going about this correctly? Can you use lightbox scripts with data-driven galleries? Does anybody have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or missing? Are there better ways to go about accomplishing this?
Any help would be appreciated as this dynamic data thing has my head spinning. Although I know a database is needed to simplify the update and maintenance of the photos while allowing them to be searchable by keywords and tags also set up in the database.
    Thanks

As I explained, I am developing locally a the moment. I will see about getting the databased moved up to the hosting server and then provide a link for an example.
In the mean time, can you or anyone else explain a way that you would go about displaying an image thumbnail photo gallery laid out in rows / columns, with any lighbox script that would overlay the larger image over the existing page instead of opening a new browser window?
I don't have to use the method I tried to describe.
In all of the lightbox examples I have looked at thus far, they give instructions on how to append that javascript to a single static image or a group of static images, not images from a datasource. That is where I am getting confused.
Don't know if this will help or not but please see code below:
Javascript and CSS positioned in head tag
<!--beginning of lightbox script with css -->
    <link href="CSS/lightbox.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <script src="Scripts/protype.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/scriptaculous.js?load=effects,builder" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/lightbox.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

  • Moving Publisher database to 2008R2 but subscriber 2005 will remain same. How to reconfigure this?

We are planning to upgrade(not in place, moving to a new machine) the publisher(2005 EE) to 2008R2 EE but the subscriber(2005 EE) will be the same.
    Replication Type: Transactional replication
    Number of replicated databases: 1
    Existing
SQL Server 2005 SP4 (Publisher & Distributer) with 8 publications
    SQL Server 2005 SP4 (Subscriber)
    New
SQL Server 2005 SP4 (Publisher & Distributer) this will be upgrading to SQL Server 2008R2 SP2
SQL Server 2005 SP4 (Subscriber) this will be same.
After moving the database to new SQL Server 2008R2, how to re-configure the replication with the existing 2005 subscriber?
There are hundreds of articles (objects) involving in the replication so it is not easy to reconfigure in GUI mode. So looking for plan to script the existing replication and plan to run those scripts on new server to re-configure is this possible?

The best option is to script and recreate.  There is no real way to backup a replicated database and restore it on a new server and expect the publication to be intact on the new distributor and for it to pick up where it left off and continue.
You can use the sync with backup option and log ship to the new server restore the final log ship with the keep replication switch and then rename the old server with the old publisher name. I have not tried this as part of an upgrade.
Another option is to script the publication, drop the subscriptions, run the script on the new publisher and then do no-sync subscriptions.
Using a script is the best way to do it, trying to do this via the gui is madness.

  • Moving CMS database from one server to another

    Using the following:
    Crystal Enterprise 10, installed on W2K3 Server R2 (not making any changes to this server);
CMS database, installed on W2K Server, SQL Server 2000, SP3
New database server: W2K3 Server R2, SQL Server 2005, SP2
I found what I think are the steps to moving the database from one place to another in the CE10 Administrator's guide (pages 291-300, but I want to make sure there aren't any "gotchas" when moving the database location and/or upgrading the database version.  I'm primarily a DBA, so I already know about the Schema security change going from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005.
In a nutshell, here's my plan:
    1. Take fresh backup of the existing CMS database
    2. Stop Crystal Management Server
    3. Click "Specify CMS Data Source" on the toolbar.
    4. ETC--following the steps in the admin guide
If anyone has done this and has run into any problems (what I'm expecting) or had it go smoothly (I would be surprised), please let me know what to expect.
    Thanks!

All you really need to do is stop the crystal services.
Backup the CMS and Auditing database
Detach the CMS and Auditing database
Copy CMS and Auditing databases to new DB server
Attach the CMS and Auditing databases
    Set the compatibility mode
On the servers/s that host the CMS service, modify the ODBC connections to point to the new database server
Start the CMS service, fire up the Crystal services.
One thing to note, I don't think SQL 2005 is a supported platform for CE10 - this doesn't mean it won't work and since the support lifecycle for the product is long gone it doesn't really make much difference however you may want to run some thorough testing prior to the move.

  • Concerns over switching between new Azure SQL Database Service Tiers

    Windows Azure's new SQL Database
service tier pricing model will be put into effect in less than 12 months. We currently have SQL Databases on the Business and Web Edition pricing models.
We recently asked Azure Support a number of questions around the scalability and ability to switch between these tiers. The responses so far have been far from encouraging:
Q: If we exceed the criteria for a given tier (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/azure/dn741336.aspx), how will Azure respond? For example, if we are on the S1 service tier, and we exceed the maximum number of sessions (200), will any new sessions be
blocked until we manually increase the service tier? Or will you automatically move (and bill) us to/for the next tier level?
A: If you exceed the criteria of the existing tier, you shall be notified of performance issue like throttling. Users may experience slowness and blocking. There will not be any automatic upgrade.
Q: So to confirm, if we suddenly experience increased, unanticipated client activity overnight due to our web site becoming more popular, you will be blocking any user sessions over and above our performance level limit, until we manually make the transition
to the next level? Is there no “overdraft” facility/scalability in this respect? If this scenario took place within a short space of time, how would we have time to react? Simply blocking new sessions and preventing customers from using our site is not acceptable.
A: I’m sure you understand that SQL Azure database is a shared resource and hence we cap the resources for individual subscription so that a fair service is provided to all the concurrent users. If you feel that you cannot compromise on the user experience
then you shall think of an edition that best suits you. Please refer to the following document to best understand the throttling and its impact. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1541.windows-azure-sql-database-connection-management.aspx#Throttling_Limits
Q: Since the changing of the performance level could take several minutes/hours depending on the size of the database, would we experience any downtime/degradation of performance of the database during this period?
    A: You might
Q: If downtime/degradation of performance are a possibility whilst we switch service tiers, what do Microsoft recommend we do to safeguard against this? Should we create a second database on a higher tier level and then export the data from the lower tier and
import to the higher, before switching over? How do Microsoft recommend we switch tiers in a production environment with minimal disruption?
A: If you want to upgrade the tiers due to degradation of performance, you will have to create another database on a higher tier and import the data.
One of our key reasons for moving to Azure hosting was the seamless scalability it appeared to offered. As you can imagine, the responses above are a major concern for our production environment. Does anyone else have any thoughts or concerns in this respect?

    James,
I reviewed the support incident you referred to and believe that the questions you asked may have been answered later in the interaction you had with the engineer.  For the benefit of others viewing this forum I want to reiterate the answers
to your key questions here as well.
    Q. What is the behavior when you reach the limits for the service tier?
    A. Each service tier currently has limits on 4 different dimensions (CPU, physical reads, log writes and memory) of resource consumption.  When you reach one of the limits, the behavior depends on which resource limit you are hitting, but
generally speaking is consistent with the behavior you would see with a similar hardware limit in the SQL Server box product.  For example, when you reach the CPU limit your queries will start showing more SOS_SCHEDULER_YIELD waits,
the memory limit will cause a higher percentage of pages to be read from disk instead of the buffer cache (PAGEIOLATCH_xx waits), etc.  This set of limits does not directly abort any of your queries--they just run longer as they
vie for the fixed set of resources made available to your database.  In a system where the load greatly exceeds the resources, queries may start to time out.
The new service tiers continue with the Web/Business edition behavior of limiting the number of sessions and concurrent requests (worker threads) you can have.  When you exceed these limits you'll get error 10928.  Note that
each tier in Basic/Standard/Premium have different values for these limits (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn369873.aspx) than Web/Business and thus may encounter the errors at different usage levels.  The key is choosing the appropriate
service level for the application, and to facilitate that the sys.resource_stats view shows historical usage information so you know where you stand as far as reaching any of the limits.  This resource consumption data is also available in the portal.
    Q. Is it possible to switch service tiers, and is there any disruption when you do so?
    A. Yes, you can change between service tiers as described in this MSDN documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn369872.aspx).  This can be done through the portal, powershell, or REST APIs.  [The preview currently has a restriction
where legacy servers don't support switching to Basic/Standard which is expected to be removed in the near future.]  The link above outlines the limits on the number of tier changes you can do in a 24 hour period, expected time to perform the change, and
    the client disconnect that occurs.
If you have further questions, feel free to re-engage on the support incident or reply to this forum thread.

  • Moving Custom Database to Native Sharepoint Database Server

    Hi,
What are Microsoft recommendations on moving custom database from one SQL node to native node containing sharepoint content database.
Are there any limitations or disadvantages of moving the custom database to content database server.
    Regards, Ketan Gandhi

The general advice is not to. SharePoint doesn't play nicely with other applications (at least at the SQL level) and you're complicating the performance analysis aspects a lot.
It also often involves harming the SharePoint security model by granting other service accounts and support staff permissions on the SharePoint databases. You've then got potential performance problems when either of the two applications is heavily loaded.
Your SharePoint SQL instance may be using a custom Collation, which probably won't hurt anything but you can get odd behaviour if you end up with multiple DBs from different collations.
You must keep the Max Degree of Parallelism at 1 for SharePoint, even if this hurts your custom App.

  • Moving Custom Database to Native Sharepoint Database Node

    Hi,
What are Microsoft recommendations on moving custom database from one SQL node to native node containing sharepoint content database.
Are there any limitations or disadvantages of moving the custom database to content database server.
    Regards, Ketan Gandhi

    Hi Ketan,
I suggest you provide more information about your requirement for further research.
If you want to use the custom database data in SharePoint, we can use Business Connectivity Services (BCS) in SharePoint 2010 to achieve it.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee819133.aspx
If you only want to move the custom database to the database server of the SharePoint in order to use in other ASP.net web application, we can use "Attach..." or "Restore Database...". And then check
    the performance of the server.

  • Moving sql server 2000 to sql server 2014

Moving sql server 2000 to sql server 2014. Could someone please give me steps to move everything from sql 2000 one server to sql 2014. I have 2 instance on sql 2000. 8 databases on each of them. On both instances we have store procedure and jobs.

i think your SQL Server 2000 is hosted on old Windows server version so based on that you should prepare new environment for SQL Server 2014 from Win Server 2012 Sp1 and SQL Server 2014 and build your clusters then start your Migration from Old Servers to
new servers and here below is 10 configurations outlines that you should look after carefully for any DB consolidation or migration from a server to  a server and indeed they represent unique potentials for your DB Consolidation /migration service that
can leverage distinctly your service quality and shape you very well in front of your customers:
1-      Backup DBs and restore DBs with ZERO down time and ZERO data loss in the same time …Awesome …!
2-      Cloning all DB special features that are not covered by backups and restores such as :
RCSI (Read committed snapshot isolation level using row versioning)
    Service brokers
    Encryption keys and certificates
3-      Cloning identically all SQL logins with their mapped DB users including their passwords (if SQL authenticated logins ) and privileges on both server and DB levels .
4-      Copying .rdl and .rds files between different versions of reporting services where backup and restore reportserver and reportservertemp DBs is not an option
5-      Cloning all special Jobs like certain business jobs configured to perform some business stuff .
6-      Cloning all mail profiles with their mail accounts
7-      Cloning all Linked server + Aliases might be used inside old DB servers
8-      Cloning some server configurations like CLR ,CPU parallelism, Replication size , Network packet size , optimize for ad hoc workloads
9-      Cloning all Replications configurations for publishers and subscribers
10-   Cloning all DTC configurations for both local and clustered DTC services

  • How to locate SQL database files

Over the years I've used and discarded any number of applications, many of which created SQL databases.  I'm trying to clean out various odds and ends and would like to know how to search for anything SQL.  I know, for instance, that mail.app uses SQL but I have no idea where to find the database (not that I want to delete Mail!).
I'm comfortable using Terminal if that's the way to go.
Any tips on locating hidden SQL databases would really be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Similar to when users delete mailbox content, moving user mailboxes doesn't reduce the size of the edb file.  Instead, the database simply gains "white space" which will be filled in before the edb grows any further.  Once your users
are vacated, you can remove the databases from AD per the cmdlet mentioned above.  as a safety measure, that cmdlet doesn't delete the actual edb files, but once you've run it, yes, you just go and press the delete key on the files.  Obviously "ctrl+a"
means all files, which isn't what we're talking about.  Just the database and associated log files.

  • Image path not storing in sql database

    Hello,
I have read here on the forum how to upload an image to server and store path in  your database, the image uploads correctly to the correct folder on my server but the image path does not get stored on my sql database (not local hosting). I receive the error: The file has been uploaded, and your information has been added to the directory. Column 'image' cannot be null.

  • Intermittant (not constant) SQL database ShareWebDb login failed events 3760 and 2424

My Sharepoint 3.0 services that were bundled with SBS 2008 appear to be working fine. Companyweb, etc, all work w/o issue, so I don't want to take violent action, but these errors seem to be accellerating so I would love to know if there is a known
    solution.
I typically receive the following (these are in reverse time order, latest at the top, just as they appear in the event log):
Error Event ID: 3760 SQL Database 'ShareWebDb' on SQL Server instance 'np:\\.\pipe\MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE\sql\query' not found. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. Cannot open database "ShareWebDb" requested

I get more 3760 errors than 2424's. However, the
2424's do seem to usually correspond to a 3760 18456 17137 occurance and the
3760 are always preceeded by 18456 17137. I was getting one or two sets a day, lately that has increased to 5 or 10.
    I've done a lot of
web research on Sharepoint Errors 3760 and
2424 and I see a number of people are experiencing the the same issue. Most of what I've come across for solutions do not apply, since errors are intermittent, not chronic and my public remote URL has already been added
    to BackConnectionHostNames as per:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/08/05/sharepoint-services-3-search-event-errors-after-an-sbs-2008-update-rollup.aspx
I installed the SQL Server Management Studio Express so I could try to track down the permissions on this database. I see the SQL server instance, MYSERVER\Microsoft##ssee, and it shows as running, but when I try to connect to it I get the following
error: "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote
connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)" I'm assuming that is because I don't have access permission for that internal database.
I don't see any errors in the event log related to failed logins or any errors at all from the SQL server, but there are the time matching informational entries right before the error events and lots of other 17137's and 2803's from MSSQL$Microsoft##ssee

Thank you Kevin, that does seem to match my symptoms and I have made the change suggested. Just incase that page becomes unreachable by others, here is the part of the page that applies to this:

Receive event error 3760 and 6398 on SBS 2008
    Cause:
    ==========
Issue was caused by incorrect Auto Close option for ShareWebDb database
    Solution:
    ==========
    1. On the SBS 2008 server, click Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005, right click SQL Server Management Studio Express and choose run as administrator.
NOTE: You must run it as administrator to perform steps below.
    2. In the Server Name box, type \\.\pipe\MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE\sql\query, click connect.
    3. Expand Database node and right click the ShareWebDb then choose properties.
    4. Click Options in the left pane, in the right pane, please check whether the Auto Close option is set to True, if so, please change it to False.
