Moving times in ical

The new (and poorly designed) iCal list the time on the right of the event in month view.  Is there a way to have the time listed to the left of the event.
ie.  from    Meeting  8 AM           To        8AM   Meeting.
(Why would they ever change that in the redesign??)

On reflection I see whats happening. You are looping through the events, then have an 'if…then' block. You finish that if block before you make the event, so the variables haven't been set if the event isn't on that date.
Move the 'end if' line to after the second to last 'end tell' line and it'll work. You also don't need the second 'tell application "iCal"' line (or associated 'end tell') as you are already in a tell block for iCal.
I hope you find this useful.
Best wishes

  • How do I sync travel time from iCal to calendar on an iOS device?

Hi, I really like the feature travel time in iCal. Unfortunale it only works great on the Mac. Therefor I only get the correct time when to leave when I am at home.
    I have an example:
I made an apointment that is 2 hours and 3 minutes travel time away on my iMac. This is actually transferred to my iPhone correctly.
I also added an apointment with a lication in the same city. On the iMac it shows me that I will need 8 minutes from the first meeting to the second apointment and that it will remind me in time to leave. Everything seems fine. But when I look in calendar on my iPhone it will remind me 1 hour and 8 minutes before the meeting starts. That does not make any sense.
I thought that maybe iOS calendar adds the usual time set to remind me and adds the driving time. This is not the case since the usuall time is set to two hours. On the iMac the usuall time to remember me is set to one hour. It is probbably coming from here that it adds the hour but it does not make sense.
Does anynbody know how to use the travel time funktion properly for all devices?
I am also lokking for a way to set the reminder to travel time plus X minutes. It would make sence to get reminded when to get ready and not when you sit at your desk and are actually supposed to get out of the house...

    Ok, I found the answer.
iCal will push the travel time plus the standard reminder time to the iOS device. So I set the standard remeinder to 10 minutes and I know whenever I am reminded that I have 10 minutes to get going. We can only hope that Apple will work some kinks out of this feature and we will be able to set a standard reminder for all appointments with travel time like "Leave in 30 minutes" to finish up what your doing or wrap up a meeting and then "leave in 5 minutes" to really get going. If you have the same issue write to apple.com/feedback. Maybe they will work on it if the get more feedbacks...

  • Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up

Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

  • How do you date and time stamp iCal entries?  We share an event calendar and need to know when a new event was entered into iCal.

    BKBK,
Thank you for your response. That does adequately cover the
client-originated sessions, but still leaves the ability I am
    looking for unavailable.
It did serve to definitively answer my most pressing
    question, however, with this statement:
Note: ColdFusion cannot create a session if an initiator
application uses a SendGatewayMessage method to start an
interaction with a client, such as an SMS user. In this case, the
sending code must keep track (for example, in a database) of the
messages it sends and their destinations. When a response event
arrives, it can look up the origniatorID to determine whether it
was in response to an outgoing message.
I will play around with the Application scope to see if there
might be a workable solution there.

  • I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home?

I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home? I really don't have any appointments from 11 pm to 7 am when I work, but I don't want to switch when my day starts in preferences as no one else in my family works nights.
    Any suggestions?

i haven't seen that option either, and it would be a great feature. (traveltime in a different colour...)
i do it like this: in the caption of the appointment i put the time that the gig starts. the actual time stretch of the appointment is the appointment including traveltime.
it's not the best way, but it works...
    good luck

  • Why is it impossible to see an appointment "time" in ical/maverick OS on macbook air?

Why is it impossible to see an appointment "time" in ical/maverick?  How could this be a good thing when looking at appointments at a glance in day view and you come to a screeching stop because the TIME is invisible, while in month view time isn't there at all!!
    Thanks,

This is actually a run-on sentence, so it's a little difficult to tell what you mean.
Time is visible in the appointments at a glance in day view.  I think you acknowledge this and agree.
Time is also visible in week view.  (You didn't mention week view.)
Time is not visible in month view.  You could see the time for a specific event by clicking on it.
Similarly, time is not visible in year view.
It makes sense that as you lose fidelity, you lose detail.

Changing body text is not simple. It's a desperate last resort. You need to buy the exact font. Acrobat will not let you edit in a font you don't own. Even then, it's undertain. Consider preparing an overlay in InDesign.

    CHRIS A123,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. Quit iCal, and open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region:>reset/choose the appropriate region...also check what you have set in Dates/Times
    2. If that is unsuccessful, I also recommend using the Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo).

That's actually how Guest Access feature works. You can share internet to your guest/visitors without giving them access to your local network. You may configure the Guest Access settings on the router using Linksys Smart Wifi through the local access interface; check this site for the instructions, http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=b509a1805dd6416ebb0e35a7e5a58937_Configuring_Guest...

  • Time in iCal are US (EST) but sync to MobileMe and iPhone as UK (GMT)

    Thanks.

Sorry, I re-read this and realized that my explanation of the problem may not have been clear. (I need to get more sleep)
When I add a new event into iCal on my Mac it shows up at 1:45pm EST. When the event syncs via MobileMe it shows up as 6:45pm (18:45) on my iPhone and in MobileMe online. How can I get the events to shows up at the correct time (1:45pm) on my iPhone and online?

  • "All Day" events repeating a million times on iCal app on the same day.

I have a few events on my iCal app that are repeating a countless number of times. They are not associated with any of the individual "calendars" I have either. When I sync my phone to my macbook, they dont appear on the calendar on my computer so I dont know where they are coming from... 2 are peoples birthdays and another is showing up as an anniversary.  Does anyone know how to delete these.  Each time I do delete one Im not even sure it even deletes.

Since the iPhone is updated and disabling Time Zone Support does not affect the calendar events it, the issue is most likely related to Outlook/Exchange.
That logic seems somewhat flawed. Outlook displays it fine. Exchange displays it fine. Other phones display it fine. iPhone displays it wrong.
To me, issue is most likely related to iPhone?

Did you run into any errors or problems when trying the tips in the Resolution or Additional Information sections of the article you linked above?
No errors, Outlook was already set to my timezone, so I forced it to re-change it to my timezone again. It scanned through my appointments and then gave the message "No appointments, meetings or reminders were found that needed to be moved to the new time zone."

  • Floating Date/Time in iCal Attachments

I've been using floating times for our ical attachments and they work great on every device/OS so far except for Blackberry devices. Apparently, Blackberry devices don't properly support the ical standard and interepret floating dates (i.e. w/out the UTC "Z" indicator and without a TZID) as UTC dates and convert them so it ends up being the wrong time on the user's calendar.
Anyone know if RIM plans on fully supporting the iCal standard to support floating times?
If you import the following calendar it should import to 8am to 1030 am your local time whatever your local time is, but the Blackberry incorrectly interprets the DTSTART and DTEND to be GMT time and performs a calculation to convert it to local time thereby changing the time to an incorrect time.

  • Organizer can't change meeting time in iCal

I have a bizare issue with a user in iCal. He makes an appointment and invites other users from within the domain and outside to a meeting. When he tries to change the meeting at some later time, he is presented with the error "There was an error with the invitation. Only the organizer can change this event. Contact the organizer to make changes." It is screwy because he IS the organizer and should be able to change the meeting. The odd thing is that he can login to the web version of his calendar on the company server and move the meeting there. Once he has done so, iCal will show the new time slot the meeting has been moved to, but the old meeting will stubbornly stay in the orginal time slot as well in iCal though it is no longer present on the server. It is very bizare. The only way to clear the old meeting is to quit iCal and remove the Calendar cache and let iCal rebuild. This doesn't happen every time. It seems to be random. There may be a common thread between the appointments that do this, but I haven't been able to see anything as of yet.
He is running a iMac 5,1 2008 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. The iCal calendar in question is connected to a CalDAV account on a Mac OS X server. The CalDAV software is third party. I have not seen this issue on any of the other company's computers. Everything works fine from his iPhone.
