Moving WSS2.0 to V2.0 on Standard Server

hi together,
I have an unstable SBS 2003 Server containing WSS2.0 (companyweb). So before Migration to WSS3.0/2010 I tried to move it to a fresh installed Windows Server 2003 having SharePoint Services 2.0 installed.
Both WSS 2.0 SP3 (Build 6.0.2.8165).
On the source Server I did: stsadm -o backup (successfull)
But when trying top restore on Destination Server an error occured: stsadm -o restore:
Your backup is from a different version of Microsoft SharePoint Foundation and cannot be restored to a server running the current Version.
Ideas. If not I Need to got to 3.0 directly.
Greetings/Grüße Gernot

Hi Teo,
can you send the export (from APEX 4.0) of your primary app and translated app to [email protected] with a reference to this thread so that we can have a more detailed look what is going wrong.
If i 'seed' and then 'publish' the application from the globalization menu then the second language doesn't work at all (it keeps showing the primary language when selecting the translated application). When you did the 'seed', did you also apply the XLIFF file after that? Because otherwise you will not get the translations into your new development system, because they are not part of the application export (in 4.1 there is a new "Export Translations" option to actually include them into the export of the primary app).

  • Help with Proper DNS Setup for Leopard Standard Server Setup

    Hello All,
    Problem Description-
I was reviewing some training today on DNS setup and checking for proper setup with the sudo changeip - checkhostname tool and I seem to have an incorrectly configured DNS setup. So I need some help on correcting it. When I go to the "Server Preferences" tool I cannot log in using apple.ourdomainname.com instead in order to use the tool I have to input localhost as the server name. Now I just thought that the system was broken or something and with the help of my training I now see it's a DNS problem. I thought I had everything proper since I followed the steps of creating proper DNS/RDNS entries with my ISP. Now I am stuck wondering what else isn't working properly due to the DNS issue. Thanks in advance.
    Technical Info-
My ISP provides us with 5 static IP's and we have asked them to create entries and verified the setup of apple.ourdomainname.com = x.x.x.x which is one of our public IP's assigned currently assigned to the WAN port of our Apple Airport Extreme. We have also had them create a PTR record which also is present, verified and functional. Our MacMini running 10.5.5 is connected directly to one of the ethernet ports on our Apple Airport Extreme which is our NAT/Firewall for the LAN. So during the setup of the Standard Server install the OS configured the Airport with the required ports for chat/web/vpn. And mobile Mac's can VPN in and gain folder access and web works fine too. We don't use the e-mail portion so I can't say how that works. The server is using the DNS of 10.0.200.1 which is the IP of the Airport and the airport is programmed with the DNS of OpenDNS servers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. The reason for this whole long shpeal is that I want to give as much technical background as possible for the best possible help.
    Thanks
    DM

What happens when you use 'Localhost' instead of 'localhost' (i.e. capitalizing the 'L')?

  • Mac OSX 10.5.3 Leopard STANDARD Server CHANGEIP questions

I am confused on how to check and change TCP/IP addresses via Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.3 server in STANDARD mode.
I watched the great Sean Colins Lynda.com tutorial on OSX 10.5 Server, but i still have a few questions with how to deal with DNSs and CHANGE IP
Here is the hardware & scenario:
-- G5 Silver Doors Tower with 1.7GB Ram and Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard 10 user server
-- Cablevision ISP with there BOOST service [that allows you to set-up a server and does not block ports 25 or 80]
-- NO Static IP from Cablevison [they change it once in a blue moon when they want so I rely on DYNDNS below]
-- Apple Airport TimeCapsule [with all latest firmware updates etc]
-- DynDNS account and client software installed on server to update the DYNDNS severs with the current Cablevisions TCP/IP address
    Problem and Question
    ===
Three times a year I will need to move this server. 1/3rd of year and at setup it is on residential Cablevision Account and Apple TimeCapsule Router, Then 2/3 of year server will be behind two funky large networks where I will have to set-up manual IP, DNS, and proxy info
I need to know what the proper process is when I want to move the Mac. When the 10.5.3 STANDARD Server is in STANDARD mode can I just change the TCP/IP address in SYSTEM PREFERENCES...NETWORK ? Do I have to run the CHANGEIP command Afterwards [or Before]
Also, for DNS config on server does it always need to have the loop back self reference [127.0.0.1] or can it just be configed from the Airport and/or network?
And, big problem for now... dumbly when I set-up the OSX Server on the TimeCapsule Network I forgot to write down the TCP/IP address used. Now I am on the second funky corporate network and can't use the command:
    sudo changeip - idon't_knowip 10.0.96.48 server.cmtenyoffice.com server.cmtenyoffice.com
Also, another question for the HOSTNAME... should it be HOSTNAME or FullyQuallifiedDomainName?
My HOSTNAME seems to be "CMTE-Server.local" but I specified the FullyQualifiedDomainName to "sever.cmtenyoffice.com"
NOTE: I do NOT have this domain registered and am not yet hosting a website or email server on this machine, but I may soon register the domain and then point MX records etc to the DYNDNS record that would point to server
    Anyhow, to wrap up,
1- What is the proper process for changing the TCP IP address with a Leopard 10.5.3 STANDARD SERVER?
2- What do I do with CHANGEIP command if I don't know what the STARTING TCP/IP address is?
3- For HOSTNAME should I be entering the unregistered FQDN or the "CMTE-Server.local"
Thanks for any an all info.

    Hi Eric
You use the one its using now.
If the Server is Standalone issue:
sudo changeip - oldIP newIP oldhostname newhostname
Even if nothing changes you can still issue the command, supply the system admin name and password and let it do its stuff. Prior to doing this you must change the address in the Network Preferences Pane. Although not necessary it does not hurt if you restart afterwards.
If the Server is an OD Master issue:
sudo changeip /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 oldIP newIP oldhostname newhostname
You will not only be prompted for the system admin name and password but also for the Directory Administrator name and password. With both command you will get feedback as to what is going on. Obviously you will see more changes made if its an LDAP Server. Hostname will be the fully qualifed domain name (FQDN) defined in the DNS Service eg: myserver.mydomain.com.
    man changeip
For usage. Actually prior to doing any of this and incidentally a good way of finding out not only the hostname but also the IP address associated with that name issue:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You should run this before/after making the change. If everything checks out OK it should report 'the names match, there is nothing to change'. This is a good a test that lets you know its worked. However its not the only test. I would run host, nslookup and dig also. Next set a client to use the Server for its DNS and then test connectivity with firstly the Server's fqdn and lastly its IP Address.
Ultimately the truest test is: "what impact has the change made on clients accessing the Server and its Services successfully?"
If the Server is a mature OD Master (possibly PDC as well) with DNS, Mail, AFP, SMB, iCal and any other 2-3 additional services configured and running then issuing changeip may appear - superficially - to have worked. Occsasionally - in my experience - serious problems begin to develop with the LDAP database to the extent where the only 'cure' is to demote to Standalone, sorting out DNS and re-promoting. This can have serious repercussions if you have not made preparations to limit the re-build time prior to changing the IP address and issuing the command. Equally it can be successful. However can you take the risk?

You say you have the pse 5 disk?
I guess you do't have a dvd drive on your new windows 8 computer?
Do you have access to another computer with a dvd drive?
Anyway if you can find another computer with a dvd drive you could copy the pse 5 install disc to removable device like a camera card or flash drive.
You can also buy cheap usb dvd drives.

  • Snapshot a server and compare with gold standard server

    Hello,
Within SCCM 2012 R2, I am trying to see if i can compare my target server with a master server (like a gold standard server) and understand whats missing or different (could be configuration files missing or services or even a particular parameter missing
from a config file) between the two servers for auditing purpose and then perform remediation via a package deployment or something else.
a] So far, I do not see any options like to compare a file between two servers or compare a server to another server. Is it possible to this in SCCM?
b] Also, as part of (a) I would like to take a snapshot a running server and use that as my 'gold standard' for future comparisons as part of auditing. I'm not referring to 'snapshot' within a hypervisor but a snapshot capability within SCCM on a file or
on a server. Is it possible?
    thanks

You have to understand the compliance management in ConfigMgr first.
You do configuration items which can be basically anything, scripts that check something, registry entries etc. and after you've done your items you combine them in to a
baseline. After this, you deploy the baseline to your collection of systems that you want to check / remediate the settings you've configured.
There's no way to check if server A is like server B, because there are so many different variables / settings in place. You have to know what to check so that ConfigMgr can do the check for you.

  • Pair enterprise pool with standard server

My Lync enviroment includes a Enterprise Pool and one Standard server.
Because i needed a registrar backup solution, i added the Enterprise Pool as the "Associated backup pool" in the Topology.
After some research i found this line:
"Enterprise Edition pools can be paired only with other Enterprise Edition pools. Similarly, Standard Edition pools can be paired only with other Standard Edition pools."
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204697.aspx
    This was about the architecture.
After the newest update the front end server have the "Backup Service"
    http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=44084
But on the Standard Server there is no Backup Service.
Now i get the following message on both front end server in my pool:
LS Backup Service - ID 4071
"Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service user store backup module has backup data that never gets imported by backup pool."
    So here are my questions:
-In case of a desaster, would a failover from the the Pool to the Standard Server work?
I know at the moment it would not work because there is no Backup Service on the Standard Server.
But in general, would a disaster recover with this constelation work?
-Why is it possible to set up a backup registrar between a Enterprise Pool and a Stndard Server?
-Does it make sense to have such a configuration?
-Why is there no Backup Service on the Standard Server?
I know that the best practice is a Pool-Pool or Standard-Standard pairing. So please spare me with answers like this.

It's not only best practice it's the only supported pairing scenario. I think Microsoft state somewhere that it won't actually stop you from doing it, but it's not supported at all.
I think you might struggle to get an answer to this because I am not sure who would have even tried this (given that it's unsupported and doesn't make a lot of sense - aside from a cost perspective maybe)
The Backup Service is supposed to be on the SE server if paired, so something isn't right somewhere.
From a deployment perspective it doesn't really make sense, because the pools are meant to be in parity as whichever pool takes on the other pools users, needs to be able to handle both, so generally speaking Ent pools are designed for larger amounts of
users (whether or not that be the case) and failing all of those to a Std pool, wouldn't make any sense.

  • Lync 2013 standard server for 3000

Planning to deploy Lync 2013 standard server for 3000 users, IM/presence, Audio/video, persistence chat, monitoring/archive. external access required so 1 edge server in DC and 1 in DR. No enterprise voice. DC and DR are corrected with dark fiber
one lync 2013 standard server in DC and 1 in DR. 1 edge server in DC and  1 Edge server in D R.have couple of queries.
    1. can i get HA while doing server pairing in DC and DR?
    2. how much time will it take for frontend failover if my frontend server is down in DC.
    3. how much time will take for external access failover in DC and DR?
    4. are there any potential risks if using standard version instead of enterprise?
Basically client  need cost effective solution  as lync is not critical for him, does not want to use 3 FE servers in DC and 3 FE in DR to achive HA.  want to achieve the solution with standard servers.

    1) HA typically refers to automatic failover, so not with Standard edition, but you can get manual failover with this with nearly full functionality.
    2) Again, this is manual, but once invoked less than 20 minutes I'd think, possibly faster, only testing invoke-failover will tell you for sure but it won't be too bad.
    3) This involves a topology change to change the federation route, possibly next hop for the edge, and possibly media path for a front end pool.  That can be completed and replicated in under a minute.  You may want to point your external simple
URLs and such (lyncdiscover) at the remaining server, this may be a DNS change to point to a separate reverse proxy.  Your _sipfederationtls._tcp SRV record can have a lower matching partner as well, but I typically prefer to keep low TTLs on the external
DNS records so they can be changed quickly.
    4) Sure, no automatic failover, your scalability is limited without building out new pools later, no SQL backend that can be mirrored for a bit more resiliency.  But again, you can manually failover without issue, you just have to be able to tolerate
    a short outage.
Technically, you'd only need 1 FE in the DR site.  You have to match Ent/Ent or Std/Std in a pool pair, but the number of servers don't need to match.  Still, the HLB and SQL requirements can be costly so I understand this.

  • Moving CF8 Standard Server License

    Hi all,
I'm really nervous about this, because this is a production server.  I'm wanting to know if there are problems or issues that I should be aware of.
    Current Server:
    Windows 2003 Standard 32-bit
    Coldfusion 8.01 32-bit standard
    1 or 2 proc license
New Server (presently running in 30 day trial mode)
    Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit Standard
    Coldfusion 8.01 32-bit standard
    1 or 2 proc license
Everything is working on the new server, sites are operating normally.
Is it really as simple as?
    - copying the text string license number
    - stopping CF8 on the old server
    - pasting the text string license number inside CF Admin on the new server
    - restarting CF8 on the new server
What am I missing?  Will this same license work on 32-bit CF8 in a 64 bit environment (Windows)?
    TIA,
    Mark

Nope, it's even easier than that - put the key into the new server now and it'll just work. Only thing you'll get is the occasional info message in the server.log saying "oh hello, someone on the network is using my key", at which point you just carry on with your life.
Not even any need to restart CF8 I don't think, CFAdmin will just apply it for you. I used our key on countless servers once when I was playing around with different versions of Windows for our devserver, nothing will shut down, Adobe will not come knocking at your door. If it's a genuine swapover and you have enough licences for the servers you're using, I'd sleep well at night.

  • Moving tasks between summary tasks in a standard task list?

I cannot see that there is a solution for moving a task from one summary task to another? Looks to me like this can't be done even in the Content & Structure interface. The summary tasks show up as folders, but there is no way to access the tasks within
and moving them to another "folder".
Am I missing something critical here?
    Henning

Hi there - I had a similar problem:
I created a Project Task list and had several summary task levels. To move Tasks around in the "summary Task three" a proposed solution was to use the
Site Content and Structure view: URL/_Layouts/sitemanager.aspx
    There you can move/copy tasks.
However for me it didnt work: there was no way to display sublevel summary tasks, since the Task List could not be expanded. Whenever I clicked the (+) Symbol...the three would not expand.
The solution was to go to advanced settings of your (Project)Task list and activate the option to activate the new folder button. With that bug (this cannot be a feature) fixed the Site Content and Structure Manager worked....

  • Expiring Exchange certs on a SBS 2011 Standard server

We have many servers running SBS 2011 standard. On one particular server (which just passed the three year mark this past weekend) we are seeing MSExchangeTransport Event ID 12015 and 12016, telling us that an internal transport certificate has expired.
Based upon research, using the Get-ExchangeCertificate command, I have found that there are five different thumbprints indicating certificates. We currently have a commercial 5 year cert for the web user interface and AD synchronization.
Looking at the results of Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl, I can see that the first certificate (server.domain.local) goes from 4/10/2014 to 4/10/2015, the second (remote.domainname.com) goes from 8/16/2011 to 8/16/2016 (this is the commercial cert), the third
goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/12/2021, the fourth (this is the thumbprint referenced in the 12015 error) goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/14/2013 and the fifth goes from 8/15/2011 to 8/14/2013.
Reviewing the event log shows that the fifth certificate (also expired) is never referenced.
Several accepted answers on technet and other sites show that running Fix My Network will correct the problem, but running FMN on this server just shows me that my DHCP server is not running (which it is) and it wants me to create a static IPv6 address (which
    it did not accomplish.)
What is the best way to fix a problem where important self-signed certificates expire after only two years?
    Randy
    MCP SBSC

    Hi Randy,
I suggest run following command to get Self-signed certificate on your Exchange 2010 server:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
Please collect the certificate which "IsSelfSigned" parameter value is True.
If it is not expired, please binding the existing certificate with IIS and SMTP service. Detailed command as below:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint
    XXXXX876C45D19BA885E9FA96C48DD0C7DCXXXXX | Enable-ExchangeCertificate
    -Services "IIS,SMTP"
If it is expired, I suggest re-create a new one. Detailed command as below:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint
    XXXXX876C45D19BA885E9FA96C48DD0C7DCXXXXX | New-ExchangeCertificate
    -Services "IIS,SMTP,IMAP,POP"
Please note, the Thumbprint in the example above in the result of running Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL
    command.
Since SBS is different from Exchange server, I also suggest ask SBS Forum to double confirm this issue so that you can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:

Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.

  • Moving an existing SQL Express Database to SQL Server 2008 (included in SBS2011) help!

I have software that uses SQL 2005 right now, but the database is close the max size (4 GB). I have SBS2011 installed and it includes SQL 2008 and SQL 2008R2.  I want to move the database to the 2008 version that can that can handle larger databases.
I'm not an SQL expert, but have some experience with it.  What I need are some directions on how to make this change without causing any problems with the system, including setting up the SQL server so it will have all the same settings as the old one.
This is a practice management software.
Thanks in advance for any help.  Harvey

    Hi,
I think you can upgrade SQL Server 2005 to later version of SQL Server rather than moving the existing database to another SQL Server instance.
Upgrade SQL Server 2005 SP2 Express to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and SQL Server 2005 SP4 SQL Server 2012 Express. And you will have maximum 10 GB per database.
Make sure that your operation system is compatible with SQL Server
version which you want to upgrade to. For more information, see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.105).aspx#SSE_x64
It is possible to backup and restore the database on another instance and modify the database path in the software.
You need to test it in your test environment first before making changes in the production environment.
In addition, you need to consult with the software developer and see if there is any potential issue.

  • Configuration of standard server, 10.5.4 install disk, small office, DNS

I've reinstalled more times than I care to count.
Been on the phone with support people- no one seems to know how to install standard in my config.
I have a fixed business class IP-
it connects from their modem to my Apple Extreme basestation N gigabit
which then connects to a 24 port gigabit ethernet switch.
The server is manually mapped by MAC address to 192.168.0.2
    In the standard setup-
It asks for login to Apple Extreme basestation N gigabit- I provide- password- then configure manually (rest of computers use DHCP)
    I supply.
    Manual configured ip at 192.168.0.2
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    router 192.168.0.1
    left DNS blank.
    Standard install.
The ethernet is configured to run through an ethernet card from my xserve- since the internal one doesn't seem to register.
I used the MAC address for the machine in the Basestation to route to this mac address and reserve .2
once it gets completed- it whines: server cannot connect be found on the network check that the server hostname
    etc.
    System prefs> Network settings- DNS I've tried with 192.168.0.1, I've tried with 127.0.0.1 and with 127.0.0.1, 192.168.0.1
nothing works. I've even tried with 192.168.0.2
It can't find server.name.lan (note I changed my actual 3 letter name for "name" in this example)
it can find 192.168.0.2 sometimes - but slowly.
I've reinstalled this about 50 times now.
I've even done it with someone on the phone-
at no time have we had:
    Jabber working at server.name.lan
server.name.lan resolving to the wiki page
    calender working
    and vpn enabled.
I've lost countless hours with this-
My employees haven't been able to work at times (like tomorrow morning- because we keep all our files shared on this server).
this is getting to be uber ridiculous.
    suggestions?
The last install- I tried it name.private
going to terminal- it still says to repair dns.
There is a spot in the airport Internet settings for domain name- should I put in name.private or server.name.lan?
I've also tried the disconnect the ethernet cable routine- that one tech had me do-
I now know how to go into terminal and check- using sudo ipconfig -checkhostname
where I have not been able to get the two entries- always get the message to repair dns.
    This shouldn't be that difficult.
    Thanks in advance

The most obvious problem from your posted details is:
    left DNS blank.
You can't do this. You HAVE to have working DNS somewhere.
For the initial setup this could be a DNS server managed by your ISP. If you're configuring internal DNS then it could be your internal DNS server (or even 127.0.0.1), but not until that server is up and running.
I used the MAC address for the machine in the Basestation to route to this mac address and reserve .2
I don't understand this statement. MAC addresses don't (or, at least, shouldn't) come into the picture at all.
    System prefs> Network settings- DNS I've tried with 192.168.0.1, I've tried with 127.0.0.1 and with 127.0.0.1, 192.168.0.1
nothing works. I've even tried with 192.168.0.2
192.168.0.1 won't work - that is your base station and your base station is not a DNS server.
127.0.0.1 won't work until you configure and start up the DNS server in Mac OS X Server.
192.168.0.2 won't work either - for the same reason as 127.0.0.1. It will work once you configure the DNS server on this machine.
So it sounds to me like your first order of business is to setup the DNS server. During the installation process you were asked which services to run. Make sure you enabled DNS then use Server Admin to configure your DNS zone.

  • Unable to generate Pdf report for crystal 9/10  in Windows 2012 (Standard) server with Times New Roman font. With same font, report getting generated in excel, text, csv format in Windows 2012.

For Times New Roman font in Windows server 2012 R2 (Standard), crystal 9/10 report in pdf format is not getting generated. When we change the font for specific report like Arial, Calibri , Cambria then pdf report getting created.
In Windows 2008 R2, same application worked fine to generate pdf report for TimesNewRoman font and there is no change done in the application which is being used in Windows 2012 R2 server.

Ok, thanks for the reply. You need to contact support or a forum for the Crystal software. Third party products don't usually include Adobe technology, they have their own software. When you contact them, you may want to expand "unable to generate" to give any specific symptoms including any error messages.
