MP3 Player that can play one track, and than stops.

Hi all,
For an art project, I am looking for a mp3 player that can playback in "single track play" mode.
Meaning that it will automatically stop/pause?after playing one track, and remain paused until I press "play" to start playback of?the next song?(I don't want to have to press "pause" or "stop" after each song is played).
Are there currently any mp3 players by Creative Labs?that have this "single track play" capability?
Thanks in advance for your recommendations!
Best regards,
Eibert Draisma.

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple does not respond to posts here. You can give Apple your feedback on the Feedback page:

They don't respond directly there, either. And once you post something here, people will comment as they see fit, regardless of what you originally hoped for. That's just the way it is with a public forum.
Try Groove for iPad. People seem to think it's a great replacement to the previous music app.

  • How do I get my playlists to play one song and than stop?

I am trying to use my iphone to play songs in a playlist for a presentation. However, I don't want the playlist to AUTOMATICALLY jump to the next song after the previous one has finished playing; I want to manually control that function on my iphone, similar to how you uncheck boxes on your itunes playlist so that the playlist will not automatically play the next song.
Does anyone have any advice for me on how to do this?

    You're welcome.
Unless you select repeat or shuffle, a playlist will play straight through in the order the songs are in the playlist beginning with the first song that you select. If you have shuffle enabled, shuffle will begin after the first song plays that you select.
If you have sync only checked songs and video selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, any song deselected in a playlist that you've selected to be transferred to your iPhone will not be transferred to your iPhone with the playlist. iTunes is doing as you've selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. After the songs in a playlist are transferred to your iPhone, what I provided in the first paragraph applies.
With sync only checked songs and video selected, this way you can remove a song from your iPhone without removing the song from the playlist in iTunes. You may not want the song removed from the playlist in iTunes but you want the song removed from the playlist on your iPhone.

  • How do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

Good luck.  I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything.  iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files).  You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order.  Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song.  You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript   It would  also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

  • How do I stop iPod on my iPad from automatically advancing from one song to the next in my music library or in a playlist? I want iPod to play one song and then stop.

How do I stop iPod on my iPad 2 from automatically advancing from one song to the next in my music library or in a playlist? I want iPod to play one song and then stop until it's told to play the next song. In iTunes I can uncheck the checkmarks next to songs, but I can't see where to do that on the iPad 2.

  • Mp3 player that can slow down/speed up songs?

    Hi there!
Is there an mp3 player that allows me to change the speed of the songs? I know that audacity can do this, but I need an on-the-fly solution, I don't want to alter the files on disk.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated!
    Best wishes,
    Rufus

    From the mplayer2 manpage
    scaletempo[=option1:option2:...]
Scales audio tempo without altering pitch, optionally synced to playback speed (default).

                             tempo
Scale tempo in sync with speed (default).
                             pitch
Reverses effect of filter.  Scales pitch without altering tempo.   Add  '[  speed_mult
                                  0.9438743126816935' and '] speed_mult 1.059463094352953' to your input.conf to step by
musical semi-tones.  WARNING: Loses sync with video.
both Scale both tempo and pitch.
                             none Ignore speed changes.
    If you scale tempo
    mplayer -af scaletempo=speed=tempo
(it has the same effect as the example in my previous post)
the pitch remains constant, but the song plays faster / slower.
    If you scale pitch
    mplayer -af scaletempo=speed=pitch
the song will play at the same speed (will have the same duration) but you can change the pitch.

  • My iTunes will only play one song and then stops.

In a playlist, my iTunes will play only one track and then it stops. Won't move to the next song, won't work in shuffle mode, just plays once and that's it! Any ideas? This just started a few days ago, maybe with a recent iTunes update? I'm in 11.0.3 (and of course, my AppleCare has just expired).

    Hello kitkatmac
I would check to make sure that the songs in your playlist are check in the checkbox section. If they are not the songs will play and then stop once it is done playing like you have described.

  • I use the iPad to play backing tracks for my work. I need separate playlist and then to be able to select album just within that so I can play one track at a time. iOS 5 has clumped all my music together and I can no longer do this in playlist. WHY?

To be honest I don't need a lot of people commenting on this.  I need Apple to comment because too many people have complained and they seem not to give a stuff.  So will I be buying an Apple iPad 2 or 3? NOOOOOO!  I suppose the only way is to protest with what I buy and sadly it won't be Apple.

  • ITunes Plays One Song and then Stops

I have had no problems with my iTunes until this morning. I usually use my arrows to skip to different songs and this morning that option didn’t work. So I found the song I wanted to play, clicked on it, and the song played but as soon as it was done iTunes stops playing songs. It will not go on to the next one. I have made sure that I have the “repeat all” button and the “shuffle” button clicked on like always. I even re-downloaded the program to see if that would work. It’s driving me crazy because I usually turn on my music and just let it run while I work. Now I have to click and manually start a new song every time. I have looked through all the preferences, settings, and help topics but nothing seems to help. If you guys know what to do to fix this please let me know! Thank you SO MUCH in advance!!!

Make sure all songs have a checkmark in front of them.

  • Why do my playlists play one song and stop?

My audiobook playlists play one track and stop. They are all checked. If I highlight them and push play, it plays the first and stops. It was working fine this morning, and my music playlists work fine. Memory isn't a problem, and everything I have is legal. Everything is fully updated.

Not that I have ever seen or heard of. Sorry.

im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player.  i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie.  after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov.  i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players.  what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player.  can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export.  im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time.  please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto.  thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

Thank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players.  thank you again for your reply *=)

  • HT1382 Is there anyway to convert video taken by ipad and burn it to a DVD that can play on DVD player?

Is there anyway to convert video taken by ipad and burn it to a DVD that can play on DVD player?

    Persius,
Nearly every DVD that will play on a set-top player *should* play on a computer, provided two things:
1.) the computer has a DVD player that can handle that flavor of DVD media, DVD RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD DL, etc.
2.) the computer has a software player installed. This feature has been removed from some common media players. You may need to locate, download and install a separate software player.
There could be another discussion on interlaced vs progressive scan media, but I'll let you ask that question.

  • Does any one know of an MP3 player that works on Phones?

I'm looking for an MP3 player that works on mobile phones, multi-track player that lists out the songs. I've been using widgets from places like reverb nation, sound cloud, but I can't get them those show up on mobile phones.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

These are playlist players which use flash.
To get these to work on iOS devices they need to fallback to HTML5.
The problem is that HTML5 has not been developed enough and there is no cross browser standard.
The JW player attempts to overcome this by using two different versions of the player skin - one for HTML5 and the other for flash.
The one shown on this page uses flash with fallback to HTML5 but I have no idea if it works on the iPhone...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Players/XML-Playlist.html
A test version using HTML5 with fallback to flash works in Safari but not with Chrome or Firefox.

  • Can I move only my iTunes movies, not my iTunes music, onto a flash drive? And, is there a program (apart from iTunes) that can play movies on MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
    1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.
    Is this possible?
    2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). Do the MacBook Air's not have a separate program other than itunes that can play movies? If so, is there a program I can get to solve this problem? I went onto the App Store to see if there was something I could download, but all the apps were for creating DVD's, not simply playing them.
    3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?
Thank you so much for any answers posted.
    Best,
    Eloise15.

If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system.  If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player.  This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.
If you want to set all .m4v files to open with Quicktime by just double clicking on the file, you can follow the steps here: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2573/os_x_how_to_change_default_application_to_op en_file_type/
    3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?
You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop.  When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes.  I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard.  In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.
    I hope that helps!

  • Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

If you uncheck all of the songs, they will only play if explicitly commanded. Command-click in a checkbox and they will all be unchecked. Command-clicking again will check the all again should you want to do that.

My QuickTime player us not playing .avi files and says I need a codec I can't play no .avi files on QuickTime. How could I fix this because I want to play these files with QuickTime.

Hmm . . . comes with a Utility MPEG2 Component ML app with no explanation of what it's for?
The utility app is an "assistant PKG installer." It allows Lion and Mountain Lion users to install the older QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installer PKG file which is not allowed to run on its own under Lion or Mountain Lion since these operating systems already have a QT X only MPEG-2 component embedded in the QT embedded structure. Without this utility you would have to either copy the component from an older system to your Lion or Mountain Lion system, use Pacifist for installation, or manually open the PKG contents and transfer the component to the appropriate component folder.
As to your "discussion" regarding the playback of AVI file types, there are really only two strategies here:
    1) You can add component support so that QT can play the files natively or
    2) You can convert the file contents to compression formats that are natively compatible with the unmodified QT component configuration.
Each user should decide for his or her own self which approach best suits their needs for a particular source file. In most cases, conforming the system's codec component configuration to play the source file directly results in higher video quality since no transcoding takes place but this strategy will not work if a codec which is required is not available for the user's operating system. On the other hand, converter utilities tend to support more built-in codecs and are easier to use since the user does not have to concern him or herself with the nature of the particular source compression formats but at the risk of some potential loss in visual quality. As to what converter to use, once again this is a matter of personal choice. In the case of commercial converters like iSkysoft, the codecs are built in while MPEG Streamclip accesses the host operating system's QT codec component configuration. I personally prefer the free HandBrake app for AVI, MKV, TS, MTS, and M2TS conversions since it has an exceptionally full-featured X.264 GUI with some user options that 97% of users are likely to never use.
