MPEG-2 Render Message

I'm suddenly having a funky thing happen where every time I try to "render all" I get a message "Conforming MPEG-2 Video."
- Under the sequence settings, in the render tab section, in the render control area, it's set to "Same as Sequence Codec".
- On the general tab, the QT Video settings are correct - "XDCAM EX 720p30 (35Mb/s VBR)"
This is the third video I've edited within the same project, all with multiple sequences and render needs, and I haven't see this before, nor have I ever seen this on any other project. Does anyone know what this is or help me trouble-shoot this issue?
Many thanks in advance

Hi -
Not unless you've applied a transitions, etc.
Since there are Codecs for both XDCam and XDCam EX, is your material the same as the sequence codec? If you control click on the clip in the bin and go Item Properties>Format you can see what compressor your source footage is in.
Also if this one sequence is an aberration from your other sequences in requiring rendering, I'd check the other settings in the Sequence Settings like "Aspect Ratio" and see if something is off there.
One of the quickest ways to check is to make a new sequence, drag in a clip from the bin to the timeline and click yes when asked to change sequence settings to clip settings. If you don't have to render the new sequence, I'd compare the Sequence Settings in that sequence with the one that you are having trouble with and see if there is a difference.
Hope this helps.

  • Strange Render message since update!!

    Hi folks,
I have recently updated FCP 5 to 5.1.2
Whilst booting up FCP I got the message that the camera was not plugged in - Sony HDR HC1E - which seemed odd as the camera was plugged in!
I checked all presets and it seemed correct - 1080i 50 etc etc. I reselected it and it booted up fine.
I captured HDV footage fine - albeit strangely having to reset the scratch disk.
However when I came to render the project I got a new message "Conforming HDV video".
Has this message replaced the old render message "Writing video" in the latest FCP update?
However to test this I pressed "option-R" to render another sequence which according to the timeline render indicator did not need rendering. However a render occured, again with the message appeared "Conforming HDV video".
This is a pain as it means even though projects/sequences state they do not need rendering I should be rendering them otherwise output could cause problems.
Being an experienced user of FCP I seem to be asking a basic question here but...
Is this a new feature of the update?
Has the update changed a capture/system/user setting somewhere that I'm not aware of?
I'm using the straight HDV capture preset - not the Apple intermediate codec.
    Your thoughts please! Thanks!!

I also now have a peculiar problem with exports which has just arisen.
Just exported some a H.264 files (resized) 400x225 and the sound is out of sync.
At the start a couple of frames play and then it restarts from the first frame - plays all the way through with the sound out of sync.
What is confusing is that the playback in the timeline in FCP is absolutely fine. Never had this problem before.
Is there an export option that I should turn on/off? Frame reordering? It is impossible to resync as it is in sync in the timeline.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Ben
PS - I guess I musty have been using the Apple intermediate codec before.

  • "Hardware Cannot Render"  Message!!  ProRes footage.

    Hi all,
I have a brand new G5 2 x 2.26 Quad; 12Gb Ram, and 2 graphics cards (ATI Radeo HD 4870 & NVIDIA GeForce GT120) And have just recently changed from capturing/editing HDV, to ProRes.
When editing HDV I was able to process some effects no problem, but now I am getting this Render Error message - The canvas goes completely red and message says "...The Effect "***" failed to render: Your Hardware cannot render at the requested size and depth!!"
I've tried a google search on this problem, and came across someone saying to change the 'Video Processing' tab to have "Render in 8-bit YUV" option. I did have it set to "render 10-bit YUV material in High Precision YUV" Gave that a go, and it didn't work. Have also come across someone saying that having 2 graphics card might be causing the trouble, and to take one out - but don't want to do that unless it's really necessary.
Can anyone help me clairfy what the problem is and if I can sort it?
    Thanks

    Hi Shane,
I don't mean to question you guys as you are undoubtedly far superior in knowledge to how this works - but I find this really hard to believe, after all, this G5 tower is only 1 month old, and I've got the only 2 graphics cards that mac currently sell on the site :
    ATI Radeon HD 4870
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 120
If anything, I would have thought that it could process my footage NO PROBLEM!
I hope I don't sound too cheeky in my response - as I say - I bow to your superior knowledge.
The filter in motion worked Tom, although I had to render the clip and it gone a bit sluggish (That may be to do with setting up as HDV in Motion and dragging into a Prores timeline?)

Sounds like your file is MPEG-2 and you'll need some extra software to open it using QuickTime Player:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
It only allows playback and Pro (or the other "i" apps) can't export or convert the audio portion of these "muxed" files.
    Yep. More software:

  • "Conforming MPEG-2 Video"

I work as a trainer in a teaching environment. We work with XDCAM 1080/60i formatted footage. Although we use XDCAM Transfer to convert XDCAM discs and SxS cards into HD quicktimes, more often than not we pre-convert the disc or card to HD Quicktimes so the student only has to deal with importing the HD quicktime files into FCP 6.
One item that occassionally occurs is that when one of the students is editing or needs to render some of the footage, one or two of the six macbookpros we teach on, will say "Conforming MPEG-2 Video" when they hit the render button to complete an effect. The other machines, working with the same footage, just do the render.
I'm trying to figure out what is different about the machines that trigger the "Confirming MPEG-2 Video" message, since they're all working with the same pre-converted HD Quicktime files. They're all working in the same EASY SETUP with identical sequence and project settings designed for handling XDCAM 1080/60i 35VBR footage.
    Any input would be appreciated.

What are the exact specifications of the media that you are converting your XDCAM to? What are the exact specification of the sequences that produce the message and do not produce the message?

  • Error message "Fix quality problems in clips?" when I import a slideshow created in PSE12 into PE12

I have been using Photoshop Elements and Premierre Elements for 6+ years but continue to get this error with 12.  Any ideas?

    BestVideo Memories
    Bottom lines:
    a. Render the Elements Organizer slideshow on the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline if you want the best possible preview and move on in the project.
    b. Try to disable the Smart Fix or ignore it and say No, it is a red herring in this matter of rendering the Timeline content.
    c. Create a .wmv version of the Elements Organizer slideshow and import that into a new Premiere Elements project manually set for a project preset that matches the properties of your .wmv.
Please read on for the long detailed version:
Whatever descriptive adjective you give or do not give Smart Fix, for you it is a nusiance that you have not been able to disable by the usual means that I have described back in post 4. I suspect that you perceive an association between the appearance of the message and the existance of the orange render indicator over the Elements Organizer slideshow when it is automatically placed on the Premiere Elements Timeline with the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor command "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor".
This morning I did some first hand homework on this with in Premiere Elements 12 and 10.
Premiere Elements 12 Elements Organizer 12
    1. The orange render indicator is unaffected by Smart Fix message appearance/disablement and whether you say Yes or No to Smart Fix message if it appears. So, it is a "red herring" if your quest is to get rid of the "need for rendering" that is indicated by the program's orange line over your Elements Organizer slideshow (.psess) when the file is on the Premiere Elements workspace Timeline.
    2. Whether or not you set the Premiere Elements project preset before you use the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Output command "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor", that non wmv (.psess) version of the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor's slideshow will arrive on the Premiere Elements Timeline with the orange rendering indicator above it,  implying the need to render that content to get the best possible preview of what you have there. I have found no way to escape this type of thing in version 12 or 10 which I used for comparison.
    3. In all this and in the past, I have never been able to trigger the appearance of the Smart Fix message when the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor slideshow (.psess) first arrives on the Premiere Elements Timeline. So, I am not clear what in your .psess is triggering that. But, Smart Fix is an aside here and not the issue if the issue is the orange rendering indicator.
    4. The program typically throws off the need to render message when it cannot match the properties of the media with one of its project presets. I am still trying to figure out which parameter is not being matched when I know that I have a 720 x 480 @ 29.97 slideshow going into a pre-set DV Standard Premiere Elements  project which includes 720 x 480 @ 29.97. One guess might be that the Pixel Aspect Ratio of the .psess is missing or not available (PAR = 0.9091) as it is in the project preset in this specific example.
    5. Under these exact same conditions, if I select the Elements Organizer Slideshow Output option of Burn To Disc instead of Edit with Premiere Elements Editor, the wmv version of the slideshow produced and saved in that process can be imported into Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace and be dragged to the Timeline with no orange rendering indicator (in fact, no colored line).
Please review and then let me know if I need clarification.
    Thanks.

  • Render Manager says Rendering Full, but Nothing in Folder

I imported a LiveType movie about 3 seconds long with background and text. Nothing major.
FCP 6 tells me I need to render the clip. When I do I get an insufficient memory for render message. It asks me if I want to run Render Manager and free up space. When the Render Manager window pops up there is nothing there that I can delete.
I need to correct the problem or make more space for the render file. How do I do either. Help! Deadline is tonight and I am panic ready.
    Ireallywanttodirect

okay, you may have elements in your composition that cannot be rendered because they are too big or the wrong format. So, the next question is, do you have any still images in your sequence? If yes, make sure they are RGB and not CMYK. You can check in the browser or open the images in Preview to find out. Also, if they are RGB, what are the dimensions. If they are straight from your digital camera they may be too big for the comp. Not file size mind you, frame size. Rescale any images that are too big and try to render again.

  • Unbelievably slow audio render times!

I've been dealing with his for a while now on this documentary I've been working on. When I export my timeline which is right around an hour, it takes around 2 HOURS just to render audio previews before it will export! The bulk of my timeline is a single track with no effects at all. Video renders faster than the audio! The only thing unusual about my project is it is largely composed of longish multi-cam sequences - about 30 sequences ranging from 30 mins to 90 mins. It's appears PP is rendering audio for every bit of my source sequences even though only a few seconds or minutes of each one is actually being used. I don't know what else could be happening.
I was thinking that since some of the audio was recorded at 44.1K maybe that was a problem and some of the sequences had several tracks of audio so to solve this I went through every sequence and rendered out a stereo mix at 48/16 and deleted the old audio. That seemed to help for a while as with CS6 I was getting a very annoying "rendering required audio files" message every time I hit play until I rendered the audio which as I said takes a really long time. Also I can render this but if I close Premiere and re-open I have to render it all over again. It is not keeping the audio render files. Premiere CC is better about playing back without the render message but it still needs to render for export. I have no idea why it would need to render audio from 48/16 source files.
I have reported this to Adobe but just thought I'd put this here to see if anybody else is having issues. If any audio rendering should ever be required in this day and age it should be extremely fast. This problem has really brought exporting to a crawl for this project.
Adobe CC, OSX 10.8.4 on a 12 core Mac Pro with a GTX 570 32GB ram, and BM Studio. My RAID is a 3 disk internal raid with 3 3TB disks in RAID 0. The video renders reload properly. The situation would be better if the audio renders reloaded at least but why it needs to render "audio previews" for such simple audio is beyond me. And as I mentioned I went through quite a bit of trouble to make it as easy on Premiere as possible by replacing all of the 44.1 audio with 48/16 wavs.

Let me start by saying I am only a hobbyist and do this more for my son and niece since they are musicians and play live in a number of venues.  I am not an electrical or audio engineer (I am an aeronautical engineer) so what I am about to say is based only on what seems logical to me…  First rendering audio should simply be faster than rendering video given the amount of digital data that needs to be processed.  That stated, I know that the Mercury engine using CUDA to process video vastly speeds the rendering of video.  Regardless, using today’s CPUs (i7 3930K in my case) should and does more than make up for the additional processing power for rendering video using CUDA.
It seems to me that there is a bigger problem than whether or not we are flattening, nesting or locking our tracks.  It shouldn’t take as long as it is taking for some of us to render audio!!!
I only experienced this problem one time.  I am not even sure what I did to change the outcome on the same project that I have since edited and rendered many times.  But now the audio renders very quickly (less than a minute).  I will say that in almost all cases my music videos have different audio sources (44.1KHz, 48KHz 16bit, 48KHz 24bit, and 96KHz 24bit) and that I set all my sequences to 96KHz since my master audio sources are recorded at that.  I use an external firewire RME Fireface 800 using RME ASIO divers to handle all audio.  I do find that this setup can be stubborn in that there are times PPro CC doesn’t know what to do regarding my audio so simply won’t allow me to play any track.  When this happens I simply remind PPro CC of my settings by going to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware then check that the Adobe Desktop Audio is set to ASIO FireFace and click on ASIO Settings to check that the buffer size and sample rate are correct.  If they are not I read the flash from the RME and all is good.
But I diverge, there is a problem Adobe and it needs to be fixed.  This never happened to me using CS6…

  • Session Time out - Relogin not redirecting

    Hi,
If I am in a particular page of an application, and session times out, I get Page Expired window. On click of that, it takes me to login page. After I relogin, it is NOT redirecting me to the page where the time out happened. It just redirects to the Application Main page. Is there a way to let ADF redirect to the page where time out happened?
    Thanks,

    Hi Aluvala,
Based on the current description, I understand that you would like to change the error message to custom message. The issue relates to Render Extension. Currently, the behavior which changes the error message to custom message is not supported. Therefore,
I would suggest you submitting a wish at
https://connect.microsoft.com/sql. Connect site is a connection point between you and Microsoft, and ultimately the larger community. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, and you can learn about and contribute
    to exciting projects.
If you still want to make custom render message, you can try to create custom render extension while it is not easy.
    Hope this helps.

  • How To Make an AE CS4 Comp Work In PrePro CS4?

(System is a Quad, 4GB, and 3 large HDrv's, none of which is over half full. Vista 32-bit with all updates. Latest nVidia driver.)
AE OpenGL status says every OpenGL feature is "Supported".
Made a 17 sec comp in AE CS4 with cartoon effect applied. The AE preview window has the desired look to it.
Objective is to get that 17-sec's useable in Pr CS4.
Both the AE comp and the Pr project are of the same dimensions (1920x1080), PAR(1), and fps(29.97), and the raw files in AE are of the ones that are in the Pr Project. In Premiere, cache is on C:, Scratch and Project on D:, raw files on E:
    1. From AE, render using the defaults for Render Settings (Best) and Outut Module (Lossless) - render dies before it starts with a sheep sound, no log or error msg. What type of error could make AE silently abort a render?
    2. From AE, render using custom settings to produce an output file that Pr should import (such as mpeg). Render completes. File does import into Pr but no effects are present, just the raw-file look. What possible setting could prevent AE from applying the effects to a rendered output?
    3. From Pr, import a Pr project that was made and exported by AE, and
    a) view it in the Source monitor, but source monitor displays only the first frame without any effects. Scrub the CTI, still only 1st frame. Is there something wrong with the Project made by AE?
    b) place it onto a new sequence. The Program Monitor remains blank. The timeline is pink. What does a pink item on a timeline in Pr indicate?
    c) Attempt to Sequence > Render Entire Work Area. It begins but says it'll take >20 hours (over 1 minute a frame). During this time Task Manager shows AfterFX.exe has constant page faults, thousands every second and sometimes as many as 30,000 to 40,000. Page faults imply insufficient memory. Does this mean 4GB of system memory is not enough for a 17-sec AE comp with Premiere? Is this something that can be done only with a 64-bit system and lots more memory?
    4. From Pr, import the AE project, which imports OK. However, results are same as 3. above.
    5. From Pr, attempt Dynamic Link with File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition. The AE project appears, put that in a Sequence. Results are similar to 3. and 4. above.

The Cartoon effect is twitchy somehow. It seems to resort to graphics hardware even when you tell it not to... Did you disable OpenGL in AE completely and attempt a render? If not, please try that first. Move the AE_OpenGL.aex out of C:\Program Files\Adobe\After Effects CS4\Support files\Plug-Ins\Extensions to a different location outside the AE install directory and see if the render goes through.

It is probably related to the fact that you are setting the tables row height in the renderer this will fire a render message when the height changes. One height is applied to all rows of a table. This means that is you have images of different heights you are continually changing the tables row height and therefore continually rendereing.
My approach would be to have all the images fit into a set size ( say 64*64 ( with scaling if neccesary ) you could then have a popup show the full size image if required.
