Mpeg stream clip and 2  audio tracks

is anyone us ing MPEG STREAMCLIP? I WANT TO EXTRACT 2 AUDIO TRACKS FROM A DVD, there's any possobility to do it?

Have you tried to use Streamclip. It's a free download. See if it works.
I don't know what "i have seen avi or dvx files with two audio tracks" means. The DVD should be in MPEG-2.

We are trying to remove a segment of video clip and save the audio track that goes with it.    We intend to fill that open segment with transitions of still photos, all the while allowing the narrator, who has now been "clipped" to keep speaking.
We are using CS3 Premier Pro.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks for your wisdom...

    Mary,
I find that just Alt-clicking on the Video and hitting Delete to be the quickest method. That does exactly the same as Unlinking, with two keystrokes - Atl-click Video, Del key.

  • Cutting and pasting audio tracks?

Im working with mpeg-1 files that have been converted with mpegStreamclip, everythings working great, but i haven't figured out how to cut and paste audio tracks in the timeline. I am trying to copy and use sound extracted from the muxed mpeg. I want to add this ambient sound to run under stills. Any suggestions?

    Hi Susan
    1. Set TimeLine to audio edit = three tracks.
    2. Is there audio on track two or three ? If not. Select clip with needed sound. Advance menu/Extract sound.
    3. Now there is a sound portion under the selected clip. Click anywhere (un-select) and now select
    the audio portion.
    4. Move the Playhead (line witrh yellow triange in top) where You want Your cut in the audio clip.
    5. cmd-T [apple-key + T] = a Cut
    6. Move the portion in under a still (or make a copy first and move that-one)

  • New user:  I can't find the zoom option (to try and sync audio tracks/sources wav to a clap)

Hi guys.  I LOVE the rendering speed/quality etc of single videos but I'm running into trouble syncing videos/audio from 3 sources.  Basically I have a Nikon D7000 and an Iphone taking two angles of me playing guitar.  I want to sync all of them to an audio clap or a click but I can't seem to find the zoom option where I can get right in on the wav files to match the peaks of the clap.  I am also having trouble with the video clips I am dragging seem to lock magnetically to other clips or wherever my playback marker is.  I want the clips to drag/move freely (and tiny increments) and not lock into any time interval etc.
I also would like to find the mute button for some of the tracks.  It seems to be really basic stuff, but I can't seem to locate anything obvious to zoom, drag and get my timeline in sync.
It took me a long time to sync my audio to an iphone angle for this clip:

My D7000 is a MUCH better image, but juggling that, my iphone angle and the audio that gets recorded by my DAW is a struggle.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply with details of your Premiere Elements version and computer operating system.
    1. Zooming in on clap in wave form of audio - assorted maneuvers
You could always change the audio track size, but that is not going to give you anywhere near the detail that you will get by
alt clicking the audio portion of the Timeline file (to temporarily unlink audio from the video and then double clicking that Timeline
audio file to bring up its waveform in the Preview Window and noting the clap time at playback there.
With the video and audio relink again, as you can hold down the alt key and tap the left or right arrow key, you can move the Timeline linked clip from right to left or left to right
for alignment purposes to the clap time.
When you need only the video portion of the video audio linked file in the Preview Windows, then you omit the alt click on the audio portion.
If needed, you could always set unnumbered markers at the Timeline level or in the Preview Windows.
For Timeline video audio nudges....as you hold down the alt key and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a one frame nudge per tap.
As you hold down the Shift+Alt and tap the right or left arrow key once, you get a five frames nudge per tap.
    On other matters...
    2. Please look at right clicking the Timeline and looking a Snap option enabled and disabled.
    3. I will think about it some more but I do not see any way to mute the audio for a whole audio track. You can mute the audio for clips on that audio track but not
shut off the audio to that one particular audio track. If you wanted to do audio clip muting for more than 1 clip at a time, I could see
    a. copy first file that you muted through Adjust Tab/Adjustments/Volume Panel expanded and
    b. then do a Paste Effects and Adjustments for a selection of all of the other audio files on that particular track.
    Just some thoughts

  • Merged clips and modified audio channels bug/issue

My problem is that if I create a merged clip and modify it's audio channels Premiere (both CC and CC2014) does not respect the modification under specific circumstances. These circumstances are: if I use keyboard shortcuts or the source window buttons for overwrite/insert to cut the merged clip into a timeline. However, if I drag & drop the clip from the source window or from a bin into the timeline Premiere will respect the audio channels set through modify audio channels.
Here are steps needed to create my problem. You will need a video clip and an audio clip with at least two channels to reproduce this.
    1. Create a merged clip from the video and audio. Does not matter if you have "Remove audio from AV clip" enabled or not.
    2. Right click on the merged clip in the bin and select Modify -> Audio Channels.
    3. Set the merged clip's audio channels to Number of Audio Tracks: 1, Channel Format: Mono. Set the source channel for Audio 1 to anything except Channel 1. Click OK.
    4. Make sure you have the merged clip open in the source monitor. Use keyboard shortcuts (. or ,) or the insert/overwrite buttons in the source monitor to cut the clip into a sequence.
    5. The merged clip in the sequence will use channel 1 for audio, even though it has been set to use another channel.
    6. Now try drag & dropping the merged clip from either the source monitor or from a bin into the sequence. It will now use the audio channel that has been set through modify audio channels.
My workaround is to use drag & drop for now for affected clips, but in the long run this is a pain in the backside.
My question is if this is something that affects other users as well. And while I'm waiting for a fix, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get modified audio channels to work properly, I will gladly listen.
I have filed a bug report for this. I have reproduced this on multiple Windows 7 machines with Premiere Pro CC and on two Macs with both CC and CC 2014.
EDIT to add: I have been in discussion with Rameez from Adobe about this through the support chat and have been told that this is working as intended. He suggested I post a thread about it to see how other editors feel about the functionality. I personally feel that the way it works now makes no sense at all. If others feel the same way, maybe this issue can be fixed in a future update. So please make your voice heard.
EDIT to add: In most usage this might not be an issue at all. But if for example you have external audio on multiple channels and to make sure you have a clean timeline, you wish to remove extra tracks from your merged clips and those extra tracks happen to be any track before the last one(s), you will find that editing the merged clip in in any other way than drag & dropping it in the sequence will result in you losing those last tracks instead of any tracks in the middle that you have disable through modify audio channels. I would think that the audio channel modifications should work no matter what way you cut the merged clip in.

Going to try, but here is my workflow and have not encountered any problems until this last P/U days footage.  I've been doing things this way because I found having all files in the project was causing it to crash constantly when I was working.  I have a new I7' processor IMac with 24 gigs of RAM.  And since Premiere does not allow you to have multiple projects open at the same time (Wish this would change.  Avid and FCP both allowed multiple projects) I have to do things this way.
    Pre-workflow Project File
Label all Video and Audio files to match Scene #'/Takes
Set in points on all video and audio to reflect slate
    Merge Clips
    Working Project File
Import only Merged Clips into Project.  Either via import or copy/paste
Now I've done this workflow from just about the very beginning.  Deleting all of the original source video and all audio clips from my working project so only my bins containing my merged clips remain.  Have had no problems and edit has been smooth.  Did a pickup day last week, followed same steps as I've done in the past, imported the merged clips into my working project and the clips have the audio set to none by default.  Now once I go into the sequence I can manually set it and it's there but I cannot play audio in the source monitor which is how I edit, there's no reason I should have to go back to the crappy FCP way of editing doing the copy and paste from a sequence.

  • Sync multiple video clips with one audio track

I'm an FCPX noob, trying to sync some clips.  I recorded a 1.5 hour concert with a DSLR along with an audio track using a separate digital recorder.  I have seven video clips, all in sequence (stopping and restarting the camera because of clip length limitations) and one long audio track in WAV format.  The audio track is longer than the combined video clips, and there are some short dead spaces in between the video clips when I turned off/on.  Now I'm trying to sync them but when I do, the video clips get stacked together with lots of overlap.
I made a test with 3 minute video and audio clips and had no problem.  But when I try to do the whole event, I get a jumbled mess.
I could cut the audio into pieces and sync each piece with its corresponding video, but that seems to defeat the sync process, as well as being a lot of work.  And, wouldn't I end up with lots of overlap anyway, since my audio clips would have to be longer than my video clips?
Am I missing an easier way to do this, or a way to arrange things better?  I can't imagine the problems with several cameras and several audio tracks; my project is actually pretty simple, since it is very linear.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks--

Sorry to take so long getting back to you.  Thank you for this advice, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly.  Is there a way to set the angle on all of the clips at the same time?
Yes. Select all the clips you want in the browser, and then in the inspector fill in the camera angle with the value you want. This can be just about anything, it does not have to be a number. I prefer to name  it something meaningful, like "wide" or something.

  • Merge Clips w/ Synced Audio, Tracks Map Weird

I've synced some clips in a sequence. There's the camera with camera audio, then 3-4 discrete audio tracks from different files. When I click those clips and "Merge" them into one, then I open the clip created in the Project Panel, then look at that clips Mixer, the audio tracks are not in order they were in the sequence. They are in fact in no order. The camera Tracks which are on 1+2 in the sequence can be 1+5 or something with other audio tracks or dead tracks in there. I want to merge the clip and have the newly created file in the same order as the sequence. How do I do this? Thanks

I honestly don't know, I just don't use Merged Clips frequently enough.
But I do know that the track order for audio won't change the final output, like it will with video.  So..why worry about it?

  • What is the differnce between Blue,Purple and Orange Audio Tracks. Can you convert either to Green Midi Track?

What is the differnce between Blue,Purple and Orange Audio Tracks. Can you convert either to Green Midi Track?

Are you asking about Garageband? Your signature also mentions Logic, but I have never worked with that.
    Concerning Garageband:
Real Instrument regions from your recordings are purple.
Real Instrument regions from Apple Loops are blue.
Regions from imported audio files are orange.
Software Instrument regions from recordings, loops, and imported MIDI files are green.
So far as I know you can convert software instrument loops to real instrument loops, but not real instrument loops to software instrument loops.

  • MP4 - anamorph flag and multiple audio tracks

So far Quicktime simply ignores the anamorph flag in mp4 video files, making it impossible to backup dvds and converting them for appletv without a very significant loss in resolution and quality. Will there be an update for this issue soon or is it simply not wanted to allow best possible backups? I know the workarround with the quicktime reference movie, but why not implement the mp4 specs correctly and make it all easier for us?
What about MP4 videos with multiple audio tracks. I'd like to keep english and german audio tracks of my DVDs when converting to appletv. As far as i know appletv doesn't allow a selection of the audio track. Workarround with Quicktime Reference Movie works here es well, saving two Reference Movies with only one audio track enabled, but why not make it easy for us consumers and allow audio track selection on appletv. Will there be an Update?
    Hope to get some answers.

    modelone,
Thanks for your post. I have been experiencing the same problem of not being able to pass-through export an MP4 file that was encoded with CE-Quicktime profile.
Your post helped me to discover a workaround that will allow you to set the proper width of an MP4 file that is encoded with CE-Quicktime profile. This method does not require Quicktime Pro, and the corrected file plays properly in Quicktime and Apple TV.
First, encode the MP4 file using CE-Quicktime profile. Then, open Dumpster and drag the MP4 file into it. Navigate to 'moov', then 'trak', then 'tkhd', then select 'Matrix [a b u]'. There are 3 hexadecimal values for this key. The first number is the transformation matrix that Quicktime and Apple TV uses to determine the correct display aspect. This is the value that is multiplied to the encoded horizontal resolution to derive the horizontal display resolution. For e.g. if the encoded resolution is 720 x 576 and you want it to play back in 1024 x 576, the matrix value is 1024/720 = 1.4222. Change that first number to this correct hexadecimal fractional value and click 'Apply'.
The patched MP4 file will now play back in correct aspect ratio in Quicktime and Apple TV.
    Hope this helps!

  • WIDESCREEN VIDEO SQUASHES WHEN I USE MPEG STREAM CLIP

Most of my video's are wide screen, when i convert them for ipod in mpeg stream clip the video squashes to fit in screen, how do i get round this, i know the iPod is'nt wide screen, but i'd rather have black bars than squashed video, i don't want to use Quicktime Pro because it's too slow, any ideas much appreciated!

Apologies for post title left caps on

I'm not sure what program your using but I just set a wide screen resolution when I convert. 320x180, 368x208, 480x270 for example. On the other hand if the movie has the bars in the stream itself then you'll have to crop the movie to get it back to a true widescreen format. You'll know when you play the ripped file if it's true widescreen or not.

  • Syncing two clips to one audio track

I am shooting an interview with two cameras; one camera is connected to a lapel mic, which is the main source of audio. To synchronize the second camera with the audio of the first camera I clap my hands loudly to cause a spike in the audio of both devices as a guideline to where I should "mark in" the clips; I know it is probably amateurish, but it works...usually. In this instance, when I try to "mark in" at the same points using FCP I am unable to set at the exact fraction of a second, resulting in one piece of footage 1/4th of a second ahead of the other.
Is there a way to adjust the audio to be editable at 1/60 of a second (current setting is 1/30 of a second) or a recommended method of synchronizing two video clips to one audio track?
    Thanks!

    Update:
I just noticed that the two clips are synchronized at the beginning of the 25 minute video footage, but begin to de-sync about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way through the footage.

It's great - just wanna make sure I'm using the right export settings for re-importing a piece of film back into FCP.
I assumed it was best to export as a Quick Time File rather than a DV. Why? Because it seems the DV export puts compression on the clip. In 'Options' I also choose Apple DVCPRO-NTSC

If you're working in a DV NTSC timeline then you are doing it right. the Streamclip option for dv creates a dv stream which is not the same thing as a DV NTSC Quicktime Movie.

  • Multiclips and multiple audio tracks playing at the same time

I've only just taken delivery of my first ever mac (only ever used PC) with FCP, and I'm loving it already! Done lots of reading and viewing of video etc etc, and it's not as daunting as I thought it might be. I have one question the books don't seem to answer, and I can only find one reference to this on this site, with no definitive response. FCP5 probably doesn't work this way, but just in case someone knows different......
I film and edit motorsport (karting) programmes for television in the UK, using multiple cameras. I usually lay all the video and audio tracks on the timeline, (synched) lock the audio for each (as it is engine noise, and I want it playing without abrupt changes at cuts as each kart passes each camera, whether in shot or not) then cut the video tracks and delete those video segments not required.
The most exciting aspect of FCP5 for me is the multiclip editing facility, which I have found very easy to learn and is going to save me hours of work! However, I want to know if there is a way of having each audio track from each camera used in the multiclip laid down on the timeline when you import the multiclip to the timeline from the viewer, in order that I can play each audio track from each of the cameras at the same time.
I know how to cut from angle to angle, leaving the audio from the selected angle as the one audio track playing, but I want all of the tracks to appear in the timeline and play at the same time. I know there's a bit of a workaround by locking the video and importing each audio track from each clip independently, but if you do have to re-synch one of the multiclips, this means the audio is not then synched with the original clip, which will have had an in point set before being imported in as part of a multiclip.
I can understand why you might want to keep audio from one camera only playing over the whole multiclip, or to switch between audio from each, but in my case I prefer all audio to play at the same time. The workaround is still do-able for me as I'm only talking about engine notes, which if they are a few frames out is not very noticeable at all, but I would like to know if I'm right in thinking I cannot do it the way I would like to?
Wish I'd used FCP from the start, but glad I've got it now.....especially with the 30 inch screen! It's 4.40am, been going over 19 hours straight and I'm still making comments like...."WOW, that's brilliant"...every half hour!

  • Remove video, and keep audio track.

Is it possible to delete video, yet keep the sound, in order to add voice over

Yes.  If you detach the audio from a clip you can move the resulting (purple) audio track somewhere else in the timeline and then delete the clip it originated from.  (You have to make sure the detached audio is not still attached to the original clip else it will be deleted too).
