MPEG2 help

I have a client that wants a static ad produced for display at a local theatre (the ads you see before the movie starts).
The theatre has requested it be delivered using these specs: MPEG2 1024x768.
I created a graphic in Photoshop using the above dimensions. I just need to add a voiceover within FCP. How do the specs required by the theatre affect my FCP workflow during editing, export and deliverable?
Thanks.

You'll have to set up a custom sequence setting, and then when you export using Compressor you'll have to make an MPEG2 program stream with the size you need.

  • Exporting through Adobe Media Encoder as MPEG2-DVD but quality is pixelated. Help!

So, I am exporting my project through media encoder - MPEG2-DVD, Quality 5, NTSC, 29.97 drop frame, Progressive, Standard 4:3, VBR 2 Pass, 7.4697, 7.4697, 8.0382, Frames 3 & 15. I have done this process many, many times. Today, I am getting this pixelated junk when I pull the exported file into Encore. It looks smooth in the window prior to export but then it comes out like this. I am using footage that I captured into Premiere Pro and animation created in After Effects. Can anyone help?

    Sylvia,
I cannot comment on PrE 3, as I did not start until PrE 4. With the latter, when one went to use one of the modules, they were automatically "registered." Based on comments in the Help file, I asked pretty much this same question, back then. All was done automatically, in PrE 4.
Maybe those, familiar with PrE 3, can be of help to you.
    Good luck,

  • Help with quicktime and mpeg2 add on

Hi guys, im a newbie to this forum, so im hoping u can all lend a hand. I have some video files in mpeg2 format which when i play in quicktime (after the addition of the mpeg2 add on) the first 3 seconds seems to play not quite at 25 fps, it seems to skip a few frames (but the audio is fine) and once it gets to the three second mark it plays brilliantly. Can anyone please help?

    Try this
    Go to Control Panel
    Double Click on quick time
-Go to Advanced - Then Select Safe Mode GDI only. And apply that and try videos again
If I remember correctly it had something to do with Outdated Direct X Drivers but not 100% sure

  • Can anyone help with mpeg2 files?

A friend of mine bought a canon AVHD camcorder and I have the Canon Vixia HV30 which shoots to tape. I have NO trouble capturing my video from my camcorder through firewire to FCE.
My friend (somehow) exported his clips to a thumbdrive. They're mpeg2 files and muxed somehow because there's no sound in QT pro or when directly imported into FCE. I can export them in MPEG streamclip but they look degraded compared to the quality of my video. Most look very very interlaced.
The weird thing is that my video is 1920x1080i but my friends clips are 720x404. I'm wondering if he captured them in HD or if he somehow downsampled the clips to SD video. Even when I convert his mpeg2 clips to .mov files, I have to re-render them in FCE because of the red bar across the top of the clips. So, can anyone help? I've checked Canon's site but was wondering if this is an apple FCE or QT thing.
    Thanks...

Thanks Martin. I'm waiting to hear back but I believe he has the Vixia HF S10 or S11. It's a flash-drive HD camcorder. I have heard that the lousy software that comes with the Canon's for windows forced the clips to downsample. I'm going to try to Log and Capture directly from him camcorder. The (canon) device only has a USB port and I didn't think USB worked on macs for video.
My video clips are 1920x1080 AIC, @29.97 fps.
His clips are 720x404 mpeg2 muxed. It doesn't tell me anything else.
In MPEG Streamclip, I can export to the same specs but in FCE it still makes me re-render the clips for some reason. very time consuming...

  • Having trouble exporting mpeg2 files from FCP 3 - please help me!

I haven't made a DVD for a little while, in the meantime have upgraded my operating system from 10.3 to 10.4 and am completely up to date with QT etc. I have Final Cut Pro 3, DVD Studio Pro 1.5 and Quicktime 7.3. The problem now is that when I try to export my edited video as mpeg2 from FCP, FCP immediately quits- I just can't figure it out... it leaves a file icon in the destination folder but apparently the error in the crash report means that I'm trying to write to a read only destination!?

    got any ideas?

Can you use DVDSP to do the encoding for you?
FCP3 was really not intended to be run from Tiger, in fact, I believe it will not install on a clean 10.4 disk.

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,

  • Seperate mpeg2's in the same track? Help!!

Apologies if this has been asked before but I cant seem to find an answer.
Is there any way to place more than one mpeg2 and AC3 into the same track? I've been trying to do this, But I can never get the audio lined up correctly. It's always half a frame off!
My problem is that I have a 40 minute film to put on DVD, but I want to be able to change certain chapters in case I messed something up...and not have to recompress the entire movie again. Is this possible?

Don't think Houghts is understanding you... you want to multiple movies one after another on the track, right?
Not a problem for video, but the audio should be created as one stream. AC3 audio is not frame based but sample based. At the end of the4 encode, the AC 3 file wil generally be a wee bit shorter than the aif as you have seen. Thus, putting multiple AC3s one after another will end up with synch drift.
Do a search =there's a couple of explanations about why it works that way.

  • I need help! I am trying to export my video to a DVD format on my Premier Pro CC 2014, but the MPEG2 - DVD format is missing from my presets!?

I already updated my Premier Pro CC 2014, updated my Adobe Media Encoder 2014, and still both do not have the MPEG 2 - DVD preset on them. Is there anyway I can download the presets somewhere and just import those presets to my Premier Pro? I have no idea how to fix this. Can anyone help?

  • Unable to export to MPEG2-DVD! Very weird situation .. Please Help!

    Hi Folks,
I've been using Pro for years.
Currently using CS6 - a fresh install from the cloud as of a couple days ago.
So, I have a project ready for DVD.
File / Export Media .. this brings up the Export Settings.
I choose MPEG2-DVD as the Format with Match Source Attributes as the Preset, then hit Queue.
Normally, this would queue the export in Adobe Media Encoder as .m2v but for some unexplicable reason - this isn't occuring.
Instead, Adobe Media Encoder drops the MPEG2-DVD format and replaces with the AAC Audio format!?
    What the?
Am I losing the plot? Have I missed something?
File / Export Media / Format MPEG2-DVD = .aac file (only) in Adobe Media Encoder??

    Thank you Ann.
Turns out I had missed an update for Adobe Media Encoder in the Adobe Application Manager.
I had installed the software yesterday and so I assumed I had the latest version. I was wrong.

  • Exported MPEG2 extremely interlaced! HELP!

    Hello,
I need help with an exported MPEG 2, that after being exported looks really bad interlaced. What should I do to smoothen out those bad interlaced lines?
    Thank you

What if the DVDs are intended for playback on either a TV or computer or computer/projector? E.g. I am making DVDs but have no control over how they are played. What is the best strategy?
Is there a way to embed an instruction to the computer playback software that this is an interlaced video and the software should deinterlace it? Or can the software be configured to be smart enough to detect the interlace?
Or should I make it progressive and will the hardware DVD player re-interlace it for the TV ok?
    Or ???

  • Re: Help in playing mpeg2 video & VCD & DVD

MPEG2 is not supported. MPEG4,I guess you mean DivX;), is able to be played if you download a codec by IBM.
If you find a MPEG2 Codec please let me know
    US101

Like I said, DVD (MPEG2) is not supported. As for VCD(MPEG1 I think) that is not supported in JMF unless you use one of the performance packs and not the all java version.

  • I need help,Mpeg2 HD Playback Issues with Quicktime

I have a problem with playing some large Mpeg2 HD 1920 x 1080 files with Quicktime 7.0 and Quicktime 10. I have the Quicktime Mpeg2 Component installed on my computer.
The videos are 4gb and higher. They will play for more than half their length and then the counter will continue to move but the video image does not move.
I am able to play the videos fine with VLC.

May we assume the content is stored in a "muxed" container? If so, try demultiplexing the data to paired elementary data streams.
