MPEG4 to DV-PAL Gives Weird "Interlaced" Result.

I have FCP 4.5 and Quicktime 6.5.2 and OS 10.3.9.
I recently upgraded DivX to DivX 6.
That may or may not be related to this issue. I really don't know.
I've been sent some AVI files to edit in FCP 4.5 before being made into a DVD.
I decided to convert them to DV streams for import into FCP.
I open the AVI files in Quicktime and then export them as DV streams.
All this works OK.
However, the resulting DV streams have a distorted and very odd appearance.
This is hard to describe but here goes.
There is a slight green "bar" down the right hand side of the QT window.
The video itself gives the appearance of ever couple of lines of of the picture being moved left or right alternatively. A vertical line appears like a squiggle.
And the audio has a pluse to it. Quiet then loud, then quiet etc.
I normally use "mov" files so don't have any old avi files of my own to test.
I tested some old MOV files, exporting them as DV streams and they were OK.
Even though the files are ".avi" when I look at it using "Show Movie Info" it says that the format is "Generic MPEG4". I'm beginning to think thats the problem, as the other files that I having problems with are "generic MPEG-4".
Why can't "Generic MPEG-4" be converted successfully to DV when exported from Quicktime? Or can it?
I took one of the AVI files (generic MPEG-4) and imported it into FCP 4.5. Placed it in a sequence, resized it manually etc and rendered it, and it was fine. Mind you it took forever to render on my machine. For this project doing that each time will mean it takes forever.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whats goinfg on?
Many Thanks.

Used iSquint to convert to valid file format.

I definitely believe this xquery is correct, I checked it out with XMLSPY which gave me correct answer.
and CLOB table XBRLC, Object-relational table XBRLO
They behaved differently with same xquery that made me frustrated a lot.
I changed xquery with prefix krfr-pte: and applied it to XBRLC (Clob based)
    it made a correct answer.

How could I do with inconsistent result .
I'm really in trouble . please get me out !!

These look bugs to me. Please work with Oracle support to file TARs with these problems. In the meantime, does extract() with XPath meet your needs?

  • Reoder point calculation don't give the expected result

    Dear friends,
We are using CBP to set reorder point (MRP type is VM).
We've set the planned delivery time, on MRP2 view, as 120 days.
When we run the forecast, the calculated basic value gives the expected
result, but the reorder point don't.
As we've set Planned delivery time as 120 days, we expect that the
reorder point is "basic value"*4 (4 is the result 120/30). But the result
of the reorder point is is greater (aprox. "basic value"*4,5).
Can you please give me a help on this matter?
    Many thanks,
    Afonso Pereira

you may get your expected result if you would use VB instead of VM.
    Manual Reorder Point Planning
In manual reorder point planning, you define both the reorder level and the safety stock level manually in the appropriate material master.
    Automatic Reorder Point Planning
In automatic reorder point planning, both the reorder level and the safety stock level are determined by the integrated forecasting program.
The system uses past consumption data (historical data) to forecast future requirements. The system then uses these forecast values to calculate the reorder level and the safety stock level, taking the service level, which is specified by the MRP controller, and the material's replenishment lead time into account, and transfers them to the material master.
Since the forecast is carried out at regular intervals, the reorder level and the safety stock level are continually adapted to the current consumption and delivery situation. This means that a contribution is made towards keeping stock levels low.

  • Window.bounds gives weird results

I run without Application Frame and without Application Bar. I see no point to the former and the latter is just a shocking waste of space. For years, I've been using a handful of scripts to manage my window positions. One of them is now misbehaving. The script is so old that it didn't use functions and all its variables were global -- it probably dates all the way back to when I was beta-testing the original ExtendScript in CS.
So I decided to rewrite it in case I'd done something weird that rewriting would expose. Well, I found the weirdness but it wasn't me. With one document window open, I typed this into the JavaScript Console (I'm running with a monitor that is 1920 x 1200):
    app.windows[0].bounds = [22,32,1140,863]
and the console duly responded with:
    Result: 22,32,1140,863
and visually, I can see that the window is indeed at that location.
    But now when I type:
    app.windows[0].bounds
into the JS Console, it responds with:
    Result: 60,32,1178,863
The x values are right but the y values are off by 38.
Is this a Mac-only issue? I'm running with Mountain Lion on a Retina MacBook Pro. Oh: of course it's Mac only: you can't switch off the Application Frame on Windows, can you?
    Dave

It turned out that moving to 0,0 created problems with the x-coordinate, but since those were the only x-coordinate problems I ever saw, I decided to focus only on the y-coordinate. In this version of the script, I move the window to y = 0 to measure the current value of the y error.

  • Timer problem, GetCtrlAttribute gives weird results

I have several timers and am having problems with one that I have enabled and set the time interval to 60.0 s. I was trying to change the time interval and couldn't get that to work, so decided to interrogate it for the enabled status and the time interval status. This is the code snippet:
                printf("MFC enCheck: %d\n", GetCtrlAttribute (panel, PANEL_TIMER_MFC_DATA_ACQ, ATTR_ENABLED, &enValue));
                printf("MFC timerCheck: %d\n", GetCtrlAttribute (panel, PANEL_TIMER_MFC_DATA_ACQ, ATTR_INTERVAL, &mfcTimerValue));
                printf("MFC enValue: %d\n", enValue);
                printf("MFC mfcTimerValue: %d\n", mfcTimerValue);
Although the timer appears to be running, I'm getting zeros for all the printf's except for enValue in
    GetCtrlAttribute (panel, PANEL_TIMER_MFC_DATA_ACQ, ATTR_ENABLED, &enValue)
which is showing 1,078,853,632 and I can't understand where this strange value is coming from and can't understand why I'm getting zeros for the other values. All the values are int's: enCheck, enValue, timerCheck and mfcTimerValue. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

John, you are getting 0s as a return vlaue from GetCtrlVal which means the functions have found no error.
On the other hand, as you can see here, timer interval is a double value and you should get an error while trying to read it into an int, which you aren't. This is strange!
I suggest you to double check all inputs to the functions, particularly 'panel' variable: this must be the handle of the panel the timer is on. A wrong value in this variable could explain why you seem unable to change timer interval.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Urgent: NTSC project with PAL VOB - weird symptoms

I need help with this in the next day, so I hope someone can respond quickly. (Encore CS3 on Windows XP)
I was sent a DVD with a video clip to which I need to add Japanese subtitles and show at a meeting in 36 hours, and then distribute about a dozen copies to others around Japan who will show it to other people. Although I knew it was sent from a PAL country, since it looked great on my computer, I assumed they sent me an NTSC version (I didn't realize how versatile PC-based players are - I'm smarter now). I made a new Encore project, put the VOB file in it, added my subtitles and made a simple menu, and burned a disk. I started to suspect something was odd when it took about a half hour to
transcode the 6 minute video - I was thinking that a VOB wouldn't need transcoding at all. Then when I played the disk on a regular player I could see the jittery movement, so I tried the original DVD (which of course wouldn't play) and realized that I had been working with PAL video all along.
The result of Encore's attempt to convert the video is tolerable for this purpose, especially on such short notice, but after the burn another problem appeared. I went back to my project to fix a couple subtitles, but in my timeline things started to act funny - after moving around my timeline just a little, suddenly the bounding box for the subtitles appeared much higher than where I put it and kinda squished vertically, as if it thinks the whole video frame is much vertically narrower than it really is (but the video doesn't squish; just the subtitles). Fortunately I had not saved since the burn, so I did a Save As instead, and compared the two projects. The original project with only pre-transcode data still acts okay, but the one saved post-transcode compresses the subtitle area, not immediately but after viewing just a couple spots on the timeline after opening the file.
I made the necessary edits on the original project file, and will burn another draft disk (going to bed rather than staying to watch it transcode again). But I would like to know:
Is this the best result I'm going to get with the available tools (PPro/Encore CS3, AE 6.0)? I did a search before posting, and everyone talks of DVFilm Atlantis, but I can't spare $200 right now. Actually, it looks better than I would imagine from reading DVFilm's description of how converted video looks
without their software, so either they make it sound worse than it is, or CS3 contains improved algorithms for this - to the casual eye it's only noticable in areas of faster movement.
Does anyone know what might be causing the shrinking subtitle problem in the project after transcoding? It would be nice to save my transcoded video and not have to start over every time. I want to also include another 14 minute video from the same DVD (without subititles), but then it would take a couple hours to transcode and burn each disk.
Thanks in advance for your quick help.

I had already tried changing the filename extension to MPG and importing into AE (see my previous post). That
definitely didn't work - it looked as if it took random frames from all over the video and interchanged them, as crazy as that sounds. Per your suggestion I used PPro as an intermediate step to change it to PAL AVI, and that was okay. But after AE changed that to NTSC AVI, the result is not as good as what Encore did. Encore's output just has jaggies where there is strong movement (like an oversized version of interlacing), but the AE attempt has a kind of temporal jerkyness - all movement stops and starts continually. Perhaps a newer version of AE would do better, but...
Never mind - for now I'll just use what I have, and I just finished an email to the people who made the video, asking if they can mail an NTSC DVD that I can use later (it'll take a while for mail from South Africa to Japan, so I'll have to wait a bit before making multiple copies of my DVD for distribution). Thanks for trying to help!

  • Kernel panics at boot--starts after 10 restarts--weird AHT results

I'm a long-time Mac user although I don't have as much OSX experience as I did with 6,7,8 and 9.
I have a just-over-one-year-old (of course) iMac G5 20" 1.8ghz. In the past few weeks it started suddenly darkening the screen and display a message saying it needed to restart randomly. Sometimes while being used actively, sometimes while just sitting there. I thought about it maybe being a RAM problem given the nature of the crashes but it was so infrequent that I decided it was more likely a software problem, and put it on my "to deal with later" list.
But now it's started doing that or displaying the "Unix-text-overlaid-on-the-screen" panics during startup. Once it's on and running (usually after half a dozen false-starts) it seems to be basically OK unless it goes to sleep, at which point it does the same thing on awakening. It does still crash on occasion after starting up but not usually. Takes a good 10 minutes of restarts to get it going in the morning, though -- almost like it has to "warm up" or something.
I ran the Hardware Test from the CD and it reported an error in the RAM. Originally came with 1 GB from Apple, so I pulled the offending chip from the slot that AHT named, the problem seemed to go away, hardware test reported no problems, so I thought OK I'll just buy 2 GB and upgrade while I fix it.
Did that and got the same problems. Hardware test reported RAM problems again but with the other slot this time -- with two brand new RAM chips. All of these chips test out fine in a PC with the same RAM specs using MemTest86+, including the original Apple RAM. (all 400mhz 184-pin DIMM CL3 from good vendors) I've tried half a dozen configurations moving known-good RAM in and out of the machines I have available, and it now seems completely random -- sometimes even the original RAM passes hardware test on that machine, the same RAM that initially failed it. I even bought 2GB of brand new RAM with the same results. All of this RAM works just fine in two PCs under heavy use.
It even gives the error while trying to start off a CD (i.e. the Tiger install disk), although I don't think it's ever done it while starting from the Hardware Test disk (but it may have always been "warm" by the time I got to that...)
So I don't think it's actually a RAM problem, but that's the only info Hardware Test will give me.
I've tried resetting PRAM, resetting the Open Firmware, resetting the SMU, no luck (all based on advice from other threads here). Repaired disk permissions, did a full disk repair while booted off a Tiger install disk. Safe mode does the same thing.
    Any ideas?
Couldn't this have happened a month ago while it was still under warranty? (rhetorical!)
I take it buying the extended AppleCare warranty now won't help me with this issue?

    Tom,
what a pain eh? Same thing happened with me, turned out being my logic board. Thankfully it occured a few months before my warrant expired. My logic board messed up again after my warranty expired, although it was covered because it was the same issue as when I brought it in the last time.
    hope this helps,
    ed

  • Drawing images gives 2 different results with the same code.

Im adding my code on here, and its sort of long but ill try to explain it. Most of it you can ignore.
Anyway i'm making a tree menu with only 1 level of expansion. So you have a TreeMenu object, and this object has some Branch classes. These Branch classes have Leaf classes. That is all. On the menu there is also a little box where you can click to expand and collapse each branch. if a branch is expanded, all of its leaves are shown. if it is collapsed only the branch name is shown.
So far what I've described above works, there is a small scale compilable working program, that is alright. Theres just a few bugs to fix.
A little feature of the tree is if a branch or a leaf is selected (has been clicked on in the past) it has a blue background. This sort of works. The branch names seem to work alright, and some of the leaves. However other if you run the example i provided you can click on Leaf 1, and it will be ok, but if you click on Leaf 2 then there blue background is twice as big as it should be. But for the rest, it works ok.
This is weird to me because the same code handles any of these same situations. So it seems that i get 2 diferent results with the same code. If anyone would like to help heres some stuff you should know:
You can ignore Leaf class, i dont think theres any errors in there.
You can ignore just about all of Branch class except the update() method.
You can ignore all of TreeMenu class except the inner MouseListener class might be useful.
You can ignore TreeTester. Just the JFrame tester class.
    to run the code:
    javac TreeMenu.java
    java TreeMenu
    http://cs.ucsb.edu/~jsterling/treemenu.zip
    thanks.

You make a good point Stefan but unfortunately I already checked that.  I have even copied the mapping (right click copy) and pasted it from the working Mapping to the bad Map (Paste) to make sure the context values were all the same.
I also opened all the queues and compared the values in each.  All values match exactly except for the result(out) queue.
In both tests I am using the same IDOC XML file.
These are the only differences I see.
    1.  The IDOC is exactly the same as far as I can tell but they come from two different source SWCV.  SAP APPL 4.7 and Steelcase_Procurement (ECC 6.0).
    2.  The working map uses a local UDF.  The bad map calls the UDF from a Function Group.  Is there a Java version difference between the two?
A better sample of the result queues look like this:
    Correct Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20
    Height: 10
    Width: 5
    Length: 18
    Thickness of Glass: 10
    Height: 15
    Width: 8
    Length: 14
    Bad Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20
    <null>
    <null>
    <null>
    Width: 5
    <null>
    <null>
    <null>
I took this chance to redesign my Variant Config output to separate the characteristics/values, but I'm still bothered that I was unable to determine what would cause the differing values.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Where clause gives me correct result

    hi all,
My doubt is when i give where clause with service call id , i am getting correct order of results for the specific order id .
But when i give parameter instead of service call id , startdate and end date , such that it will give me all service calls between those dates , for some records i am getting results in correct order by , but some records are not coming in order by .
unfortunately , am unable to copy the code here , as client is not giving permission .
    Please help me.
    Regards, Subathra

Unless and until you add "order by" to a query, you cannot say ANYTHING about the order of the rows returned. Well, short of 'you cannot rely on the order of the rows being returned'.
It never has, it never did, it never will.

  • CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF gives a diff result depending how it is run

I will appoligize in advance for the lenght of this post, I just wanted to give enough details to be able present my problem.
CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF seems to give different reults when run in the foreground or background
We have an old report that was designed to run in the foreground it is a multi step process:
    enter selection screen criteria
build an internal table of data
    produce a report
    if the result is good
the user saves the report as a PDF manually
the user clicks a button to Build and Execute a BDC
      loop through the internal table
         write data a data set
build an internal table for errors
write a report with the errors
submit another progam that reads the data set and builds the BDC
Now without making any major design changes they want this report changed to be able to either run in the foreground without any user intervention or to be able to run in the background.
    Foreground:
    I have been able to:
    - open/close the spool
    - write to the spool
    - convert the spool to PDF using Function CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF
    - download the file PDF to the local drive using Function 'DOWNLOAD'
    Background:
    I have been able to:
    - write to the spool
    - convert the spool to PDF using Function CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF
    - write the PDF file to the UNIX server THIS HAD TO BE DONE PROGAMATICALLY
If I run the same program with the same selection criteria in the foreground and background and I go into the SP02 and look at the spool they are identical.
    Problem:
CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF seems to give different reults when run in the foreground or background
    - the byte count
        Foreground - 14,935
        Background - 12,217
    - the PDF result is different
Foreground - looks the same as the spool
Background - does not contain the error section
In the program I have do different things if I'm running in the foreground or background, but I'm using the same call to Function CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF and the spool from either run looks the same.
I have read in the forumn's that I function DOWNLOAD only works in the foreground.  OK so I had to write my own code to parse through the PDF table.
Does anyone know why the result from CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF would be different.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
    Jerry

I believe I have figured it out.
    - I put a breakpoint at the call to CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF
    - ran the program in the foreground
    - just prior to the call to CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF I looked at the spool and it did not have the last page
    - execute CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF byte count is 14,935
    - execute the rest of the program
    - look at the spool it now shows the last page
    - look at the PDF it matches the spool
It appears that the last page of the spool may be buffered and may only show up in the spool when the program completes.
It also appears that when CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF is run in the foregound it includes the buffered spool information, but when CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF is run in the background it does not.
I added a 'NEW-PAGE' line after the last line in the report now the last page comes out when run in either the foreground or the background.

  • Can Analytical function give me this result?

    Hi Friends
    I have the following query:

How do I achieve this? Much appreciate a quick response.

    Hi,
Not sure I understand what you mean by maximum rn value? Is it the same value in every row for each partition?
If that's the case you could use count:
    SELECT DISTINCT
          DATE_FIELD
          ,ACCT_ID
          ,CITY
          ,STATE
          ,ZIP
          ,UNIQUE_ID
          ,OPEN_DT
,COUNT(*) OVER (PARTITION BY ACCT_ID) cnt
    FROM TABLE1
    WHERE 1=1
AND OPEN_DT IS NOT NULLIf not, then perhaps can you post sample data showing what is it that you expect from the output, please? Something along the lines of what you have posted for the current output you're obtaining.

  • Multiselect begins with gives inconsistent fetch results

    Hi All,
We have a Multiselect item in our Dashboard Tab Page. We are making the values coming from database as UPPER to avoid case sensitive search.
The problem now comes when the user keys in different partial values of same word, the results are different.
    To illustrate,
When we search by OPI and option is "begins with", it fetches all the comapny names starting with OPI incluidng OPITZ SOLUTIONS which we are looking for.
But when we give OPITZ or OPIT, it does not fetch any results.
When I give OPITZ i.e. with space, again the results are fetched.
Is there any explanation for this behaviour?

Thanks to both of you for your inputs.
-> I checked the SQL generated after applying the filters - it is same for all columns. Moreover this is an issue that I see on the using the "begins with" option to restrict the number of available choices - so at that level I am not sure how the corresponding SQL can be tracked.
-> Also, there is no data level security implemented for any column/table in the repository.
I am still working to resolve this and would get back if there is any luck. Please do let me know if you have additional inputs on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Piyush
