MS Access 2010 and Oracle SQL Developer Version 4.0.3.16 Error

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I can not get MS Access 2010 to work/open with SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16.
ERROR when testing connection to MS Access 2010
"Status : Failure -Test failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
I added the 32-bit ODBC data source for the MS Access I am trying to use with SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 with the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" application, but I still get the same error.
I appears that SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16.is looking at the 64-bit driver (ODBC Data Source) and I have no idea to direct SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 to use the 32-bit driver (ODBC Data Source) when opening MS Access 2010.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

I downloaded the SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 "sqldeveloper-4.0.3.16.84-x64.zip" that included the jre.
How do I check which Java JDK I am running (32-bit versuns 64-bit)?
In the command prompt I use "java -version" and I get this message "java is not recognized as an internal or external command"

  • Differences between TOAD for Oracle and Oracle SQL Developer?

    Does someone know the advantages and disadvantages of using TOAD for Oracle and Oracle SQL Developer?
    I work making reports with TOAD, but in a few days I will have to use the SQL Developer (because it´s free) unless I justify the necessity of using TOAD.
    Could some that used both compare them?
    Thanks,
    Facundo.

    Hello Facundo,
    since we are rolling out new client PCs we switch from Toad to SQL Developer. Therefore I'm doing some training for the "normal" users and our developers.
    Most users simply want to have access to the data in tables and views. For those there are 2 main issues:
    - Filters get lost when exiting table while sorting is still applied. Since there is no way to apply filtering before entering the data tab this can become a great performance issue because sorting is applied to many many rows. For views it is sometimes impossible to open the data tab.
    - Exporting date values to Excel needs some know how if you want to sort by this column in Excel, because the date is formatted as "Standard" meaning that the sorting is done as for a text column: 01.01.2009 is less than 02.01.2008. Here you have to use a workaround column with a formula (=1*<datecolumn>)
    The greatest Pro is the easy sharing of connections and reports by XML files.
    Our developers like the easy debugging in SQL Developer. Though they miss the feature that the source is compiled for debug automatically as in Toad. For this we have distributed a script that compiles any PL/SQL object for debugging.
    There are only some Toads installed for DBAs and for users that need access to tables protected by policies that require authentification by OS user since this information is not passed under every circumstance.

  • SQL Worksheet fails to appear in Oracle SQL Developer Version 2.1

    I cannot open the SQL Worksheet in Oracle SQL Developer Version 2.1. When I select SQL Worksheet from the Tools menu, a box appears saying that the SQL Worksheet is opening, but nothing happens. After the first attempt, the box does not appear, but again nothing happens.

    Thats odd.
    Do you see any exceptions in console ? (to see the console launch sqldeveloper.exe in ../sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin dir.)

  • Import data using Excel and Oracle SQL Developer - I need some help

    Dear friends,
    I'm using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 and I need to import an Excel file into a database table. If I try to import this file in XLS format, fields and headers are correctly being shown and separated, but if I press "Next" button, it simply doesn't do anything - it stays stopped.
    I did some search here in this forum and it seems to me that, when you try to import a file via XLS format, SQL Developer has bugs. Is this correct?
    If I save the same file in CSV format and try to import the same file, it goes ahead, but SQL Developer is not separating fields and headers correctly. It combines all CSV fields into one - let's say Column0 and fields 1;TEST;01/01/2000 below the same Column0.
    Saving the file in CSV format is not a problem, taking a very little time. But I don't know how to make SQL Developer import it correctly. Could somebody please help me? Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Franklin

    Hello K,
    yes, you're right. I found the following topic after posting this question here.
    Re: After update to 1.5.1, import from Excel fails
    I downloaded version 1.5.0 and I'll use it whenever I import data from Excel.

  • PL/SQL and Oracle SQL Developer

    I just downloaded the latest version of Oracle SQL Developer, because I heard that it is free and comes with a debugger.
    So I have it all setup, I am connected to my database, but I wanted to execute a simple example:
    I selected to create a new Procedure and a new tab opened up, I pasted this code and under DBMS Output, I clicked the + to: set serveroutput on
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST1 As
    DECLARE
       mytext varchar2(100) := 'Hello world!' ;
    BEGIN
       dbms_output.put_line(mytext) ;
       dbms_output.put_line(mytext) ;
    END TEST1;yet, I get an error:
    Source does not have a runnable target.
    So, is this made to only work with the database objects ? Tables ? I can't execute a simple Hello World ?
    Please help, thanks!

  • Possible bug in Oracle SQL Developer Version 3.2.20.09 Build MAIN-09.87 - Connection is currently busy. Try Again? Abort...

    Hi,
    Every single time I try and browse data in one of my tables, I get the annoying "Connection is currently busy. Try Again?" pop-up alert message with "Try Again" and "Abort" options.
    This is very annoying and I dont know how to stop it happening.
    Is this a bug or can someone suggest a setting I can try to get around it?
    Cheers,
    Julian

    I don't know if it's worthwhile raising issues with v3 as the developers are now working on v4.  You can download an Early Adopter version available on OTN I think.
    If you're new to SQL Developer, it's worth knowing that a single click on an item in the navigator tends to do what you would expect a double-click to do.  I think a double click can cause the same action to be started twice.

    Hello,
    I get the same error after updating through Help->Check for Updates. I am at version 1.1.2.25 and the update does not change the version number of Oracle SQL Developer (Help->About), it remains at 1.1.2.25 (although if I look in extensions tab, it says: oracle.sqldeveloper 1.1.3.27.66 Loaded, possible bug in displaying version number?). These are the updates applied:
    Upgraded Extensions
    Oracle Microsoft Access Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - Snippet version 10.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - Reports version 10.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Server Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle MySQL Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - Worksheet version 10.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - Extras version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - SearchBar version 10.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer - Object Viewer version 10.1.3.27.66
    I ran the update several times and was able to reproduce the error under a specific condition. If I am connected to a database at the time of the update I get the error. If I am not conneceted at the time of the update I do not get the error.
    As stated, by Donal, sql developer seems to get over the problem after restarting itself twice.

  • BUG in Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" with comments?

    I'm newbie on oracle, but I think that I found out a bug in Oracle SQL Developer version 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" tool using "comments".
    I will describe the steps that I gave:
    I created a view, but after I test it I had to change my “where” condition, so I comment the old code and then I wrote the new “where” condition below. After I done that I tried to look at the sql code of my view using “generating DLL” tool, but oracle sql developer only shown me half of the code, a lot of code were missing. Then I began with some test trying to understand what happen and I notice that if I put an invalid sql code in my comment the generating DLL start working with no problems, for example(pseudo-code):
    (COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" don't work:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where time_stamp = (select max(time_stamp) from .....)
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
    Generating DLL returns this(when the error occurs):
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    (COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" work with no problems:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
    I believe that "Generating DLL" tool have some problem with the comments, I also used /*...*/ to comment but the problem is still active.
    I notice as well that if I started to add some more comments along the code, the conditions migth change, so I think the problem is related with "comments" code.
    Would you mind telling me if this is a real bug or if I'm doing anything wrong.
    Thank you in advance,
    Rodrigo Campos

    Hi Rodrigo,
    Thank you for reporting this. The only bug I see currently logged on a comment affecting the generated View DDL involves ending the last line of the definition with a comment, which treats the ending semi-colon (even if on a different line) as part of the comment. That is actually related to a low-priority bug against an Oracle database API.
    Unfortunately, your pseudo-code is a bit complex. Trying a few quick, simpler tests against the standard HR schema did not reproduce the issue. I tried INNER JOIN, and nested SELECTs. It would help greatly if you could provide a test case compilable against one of the standard schema, like HR or SCOTT.

  • Desc not working in SQL Developer Version 1.1.3 Build 27.69

    Hi All,
    I am using Oracle SQL Developer Version 1.1.3 Build 27.69
    select count(*) from abccount(*)
    100
    using desc / describe table name gives error
    desc abcERROR:
    ERROR: object abc does not exist
    1 rows selected
    I am able to perform select on the table but not desc/describe. I tried suffixing with schema name , still the same error persists.
    Kindly provide a workaround
    Tnx

    Well 1.1.3 is quite old.
    The best thing to do IMHO is to update to the latest version, it will also enable a load of new features and fixes.

  • How to execute command(program) from external file in Oracle SQL developer

    Hi,
    Does anyone know, Oracle SQL developer version 1.0.0.14.67 got any function that can execute command from an external file?
    Example, i have 100 insert SQL inside a text file,
    and i want to use Oracle SQL developer to execute it. How do i read from my text file? Thanks a lots.

    If you're new to Oracle, do yourself and us a favour: read some tutorials and manuals. What sqldev's worth, better download the latest version (1.1.2), lots of fixes and enhancements...
    Now for the big popper: to run an external file: @file

  • Oracle SQL Developer 3.0: PL/SQL debugging of anonymous blocks: ISSUES

    Hello,
    I just downloaded the Oracle SQL Developer 3.0. I have been using the EA releases as they came into existence and was happy to see the released version. So I immediately tried to debug an anonymous block (something I did not try to do in the EA releases), and nothing happened.
    The "Debug" was grayed out and the key-chord "ctrl-shift-F10" did nothing. I found this forum:
    Re: 30EA1: anonymous block debugging?
    and followed Vadim Tropashko's advice. This did nothing for my anon. block but worked fine for the simple example.
    So I started to whittle my anon. block down to find the culprit, here is a repeatable breaking point for me:
    declare
        stmt1 long;
        stmt2 long;
        stmt3 long;
        stmt4 long;
        p_data varchar2( 500 );
        i      varchar2( 10 );
    BEGIN
        STMT1 := 1;
        STMT2 := 1;
        STMT3 := 1;
        STMT4 := 1;
        --the moment this is in the block "Debug" is no longer an option
         select
            SendDocumentResult
           into
            p_data
           from
            XMLTABLE( '/data'
                    PASSING
                    xmltype.createxml( '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><data><SendDocumentResult>test</SendDocumentResult></data>' )
                    COLUMNS SendDocumentResult varchar2( 1000 ) PATH 'SendDocumentResult' ) ;
    end;The moment I have the SELECT INTO ... XMLTABLE() it fails (a normal SELECT INTO works just fine).
    Is this a problem with my environment or is a problem with SQL Developer 3.0.04. Looking over K's comments, it seems the debug worked for 'simple' blocks, so I wonder if this is just out-of-scope...
    My environment:
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE     11.2.0.1.0     Production
    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    and Oracle SQL Developer
    3.0.04 (Buld Main 04.34 with bundled Java) on a Window's XP box.

    Thanks, I'll survive. Just my luck, the first item I try to anon. debug didn't work! :)
    thanks, hopefully this problem will be few and far between

  • Applying/Clearing filters in Oracle SQL Developer

    Is there a way to temporarily clear the filter for Other Users (Schemas)/Tables/Views etc. in Oracle SQL Developer?
    I have a large number of Other Users and sometimes I want to see them all but usually I want a selected list. I don't want to have to recreate the list when reapplying the filter. I'm using Oracle SQL Developer version 3.2.20.09. Is there a either a way to save the filter specifications or just temporarily clear the filter?  If not, I think that would be a nice feature.
    Thanks

    No, you remove the filter and it's gone.
    Agreed, that would be a nice feature. Filters is an area I'd like to see improvement on in future releases, this is definitely on my list.
