Problem in deploying Java Extension to ORacle SQL Developer
Hi all,
I have developed a simple Java extension using Oracle Jdeveloper. This extension creates a preference in Tools->Preferences.
I have deployed it on Jdeveloper and it works fine. But when I deploy it on Oracle SQL Developer its functionality does not work
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4
and Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 (Latest Version).
Hello,
You are giving few informations. Is the extension listed in the extensions tab in the 'About' tab? Are you able to deploy any extension to SQLD?

Table API Extension for Oracle SQL Developer
I just created small project [Table API Generator for Oracle|http://code.google.com/p/tapig/].
Idea is to only maintain tables and generate table API (TAPI) packages for data manipulation.
Generated:
- insert, update, delete, querying procedures
- documentation based on table columns comments
Do you think it will be useful to have custom Table API Generator as extension for Oracle SQL Developer?Never used them myself and quite legacy, but I'm sure there's still a lot of people using them and the basic idea is quite nice.
This would also qualify perfectly as a User Defined XML Extension for sqldev; little work but big results. Even if you were the only one using it, it would still pay off.
Have fun,

Running/Compiling *.java file in Oracle Sql Developer
I want to compile/run java 5.0 files in Oracle sql developer1.1.2.25 on Fedora 5 platform.
I have added javac as an enternal tool to compile java programs. Tools-->External Tools-->New
I have also added java: /usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java as an external tool to run the complied programs
I am able to compile the java programs, but i am not able to run them.
I am providing ${file.name.no.ext} as an argument to java.
Java-Log Output is:
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java Writer2
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Writer2
However, if i run the same program in Linux terminal, i get the correct output:
[root@localhost java]# which java
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java
[root@localhost java]# /usr/java/jre1.5.0_10/bin/java Writer2

Missing Java Classes in Oracle SQL Developer
Hello,
I'm pretty new to Oracle (As a DBA) and very new to Java. I just refreshed our training environment and after the refresh, noticed under the Java folder within Oracle SQL Devloper that the Java Classes were missing.
Can someone tell me how I can repopulate these classes?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you.Thank you K,
The Java Classes are not present under the SYS user and I'm not sure how to get them back. They do exist within our production and development environments. -

JAR conflicts in Oracle SQL Developer Extension
Hi,
I am developing a extension for Oracle SQL Developer. I want to use JavaFX to show a WebView inside SQLDeveloper, so I imported such library.
When I try to use such library, the program crashes with an error (NoSuchMethodError) pointing to the constructor of JSObject. The problem is that oracle.help_5.0 (bundled with sql developer) and JavaFX (in the future is going to be bundled in jre) defines the same class (netscape.javascript.JSObject) with different implementations.
My question is that if it is possible to define/modify the ClassLoader to serve the JSObject provided by JavaFX library to the JavaFX library.
Thank you in advance!Thats odd.
Do you see any exceptions in console ? (to see the console launch sqldeveloper.exe in ../sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin dir.)

Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler start up error
Hi All,
I just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009] by selecting the option "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE)"
After I installed the same and tried to run it by clicking datamodeler.exe, I get the following error message
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
On the same machine I can successfuly run the Oracle SQL Develper with no errors. My machine is having Windows XP Professional SP3.
Any ideas? If there was a problem with Java, than the Oracle SQL Developer should also not run. But as stated it runs with out any error but the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler gives the above error.
Regards,
JAA1491 - The above problem has nothing to do with the memmory. I tried on a 400 MB RAM, 900 MB RAM, 1.5 MB RAM & 2 MB RAM with the same arror.
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
http://i30.tinypic.com/9vkwf6.jpg
2 - There are two "datamodeler.exe: files
One is at D:\datamodeler\datamodeler.exe
2nd is at D:\datamodeler\bin\datamodeler.exe
The same error occurs with both the files.
3 - The Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler version is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009]" and the file I downloaded is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE) - (57M)"
If I look in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\README.txt" I find
"Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6"
If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\javacpl.exe" I get
http://i30.tinypic.com/mt8ocn.jpg
If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\jureg.exe" I get
http://i28.tinypic.com/30boiyo.jpg
If i check at the control panle add/remove program
http://i30.tinypic.com/1428tba.jpg
If I go to "http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp" and download "jre-6u16-windows-i586-s.exe" and run it.
If I go to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I find the same files as in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre"
I am able to run Oracle SQL Developer with out any kind of error let alone the above one. But with Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler I get the above mentioned error no matter what I try.
As the error states "unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll". The file "jvm.dll" is located at two places. One at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" and the second at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
A similiar problem occurs with JDeveloper with the fllowing solution
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=506339&start=0&tstart=0
Which states the following
"hello!
in the problem with JDeveloper i have a solution. The jdk have a file jvm.dll in the path: jdk/jre/bin/client/jvm.dll this is the problem ... now in the path:jdk/jre/bin/client/ojvm has a file with the same name if you copy and paste this file to the another path, now its works fine your Jdeveloper.
Jdeveloper use two files to jvm.dll to work one in the folder /client and other in /server copy the same file to the two locations for precaution
for me work fine thanks..."
I tried to do the same (Copy from client folder to server folder)
D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
COPIED THIS FILE TO
D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
Nada. So I reversed it (copied from server folder to client folder)
D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
COPIED THIS FILE TO
D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
Does not work. So I tried another solution stated at the same forum entry
"Well,
i solved the problem by this way :
<SQLDEVELOPER>/jdev/bin/ide.conf
In this file, change this line :
AddVMOption -Xmx512M
by
AddVMOption -Xmx256M
Now, the executable is lauching correctly. No more errors with Java Virtual Machine.
But is it a good thing to solve it like that ?"
But the ide.conf file is only at "D:\sqldeveloper\ide\bin\ide.conf" which is for the SQL Developer and not the SQl Developer Data Modeler
Correct me if I am wrong but
JRE = Java Run Time Envoirment
JDK = Java Development Kit
And Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler needs JRE and not JDK. In any case I download JDK
jdk-6u14-javafx-1_2-windows-i586.exe (121,306 KB) and installed it but no succcess.
I tried every thing except completely re-install my whole PC.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Cordially,

I'm new to Oracle. I have installed Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 and Java 1.7. When I run Oracle SQL Developer, I will get the window Running this product is supported with minimum Java version of 1.6.0_04 and a maximum version less than 1.7. This product will not be supported....
Is there any known problem using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 with Java 1.7?
I have already downloaded Java 1.6 but don't know whether I need to uninstall Java 1.7 first. If don't need to uninstall Java 1.7, how can I set Oracle SQL Developer to run with Java 1.6?
Thanks for any help.
Edited by: 881656 on Aug 25, 2011 11:22 AMHi,
One prior post discussing the use of Java 7 is:
SQL Developer 3.0 and Java SE 7?
There is no need to uninstall any Java version (except if you have disk space constraints) and no problem switching between Java versions. This may be controlled in the sqldeveloper.conf file in your ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directory via the SetJavaHome line. For example:
#SetJavaHome ../../jdk
SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_26
#SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0Regards,

Java.lang.AbstractMethodError: oracle.sql.BLOB.setBytes
Hi ,
When I deployed an application ( In Oracle 10g )that uses oracleresultset i am getting an error as follows java.lang.AbstractMethodError: oracle.sql.BLOB.setBytes
anybody has a clue ?
VishnuHi Vishnu,
I got the same error, and also when trying blob.setBinaryStream(1L);
By me the DB is an 8.1.6 and the JDBC Driver I tried are both the new 10.1 and older ones.
Did you solve your problem ? In which case I would be interested in a solution. A work around seems to be the blob.getBinaryOutputStream() method, but this is a problem for me since it is not portable.

Hi ,
I'm creating a dbadapter for a custom API written in APPS schema -
TYPE MISIPM_LOB IS RECORD (
FILE_ID IPM_LOBS.FILE_ID%TYPE,
FILE_NAME IPM_LOBS.LOB_NAME%TYPE );
TYPE MISIPM_LOB_LIST IS TABLE OF MISIPM_LOB;
PROCEDURE GET_FILE_ID_DETAILS(
P_SOURCE_SYSTEM IN VARCHAR2,
p_entity_value IN VARCHAR2,
p_entity_code IN VARCHAR2,
P_ORG_ID IN NUMBER,
P_MISIPM_FILES_LIST OUT MISIPM_LOB_LIST,
P_ERRCODE OUT VARCHAR2,
P_ERRMESSAGE OUT VARCHAR2);
From JDeveloper, there is a wrapper package is getting created and the compilation/deployment of this composite is also without any error.
But when I run the composite, I'm surprisingly getting the below error -
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'GetAttachmentMetaData' failed due to: Interaction processing error. Error while processing the execution of the APPS.BPEL_GETATTACHMENTMETADATA1.XX_DELIVER_BLOB$GET_FILE_ API interaction. An error occurred while processing the interaction for invoking the APPS.BPEL_GETATTACHMENTMETADATA1.XX_DELIVER_BLOB$GET_FILE_ API. Cause: java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.sql.StructDescriptor Check to ensure that the XML containing parameter data matches the parameter definitions in the XSD. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
I recreated the adapter multiple times within the composite and also tried to create a separate composite and all the cases the error message received was same. There two more similar procedure call's in the composite and all rest of them are working fine.
I can call the wrapper from sql script separately.
Verified that the XSD generated and the wrapper package parameters are matching as well.
Did anyone face the same issue or any explanation/help is much appreciated.

Oracle SQL Developer installation and Java
I finished installing Oracle Client without problems. Opened up SQL Developer for the first time and he asks me for the full Java.exe pathname.
That's fine, but when I input the java.exe I just get asked again, no errors. Repeat until infinity.
I installed the newest Java SDK and tried both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (jdk 7u4). I even tried installing Oracle Client version 11.1.0 AND 11.2.0 to see if that make any difference, but it's all the same.
I have uploaded a screenshot if that helps: http://i50.tinypic.com/mjtqte.jpg
Any ideas?
Regards,
Gunnar ÓskarssonHi Gunnar.
Documentation:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25259_01/doc.31/e26419/install.htm#sthref8
Ideas:
-Do not use java7
-Use JDK not JRE
-On widows there is a version of SQLDeveloper including java 6 jdk
-Instant client is not required - but if you want to use it use at least 11.2.0.2
-Updated SetJavaHome in sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf to point to the JDK
-There is some confusion over 32bit and 64bit Operating System, java and SQLDeveloper, you can search the forum for details, eg: thread title: "Unable to start Oracle SQL Developer"

Tomcat: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/NUMBER
hi,
i have managed to come this far with my "simple" webapplication under tomcat.
the exception is:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/NUMBER
since i have tried to put the classes12.jar in every reasonable directory without effect, i have to bother this forum. does anyone know "where the dog is burried"(german saying)?

Selim KeserHi yves,
This class is in the jdev_home/jdbc.lib/ojdbc14.jar.
But prior to deploying your ADF application, did you install the ADF runtime libraries to Tomact as explained here?:

We have recently upgraded all of our servers from:
Java 1.6.31 to 1.6.32
and
Glassfish 3.1.1 to 3.1.2
We upgraded our development server from Oracle 10g to 11g.
Our live servers are working fine. Our development server now is spewing out a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/STRUCT error whenever it encounters a servlet or page which uses this class.
ojdbc14.jar and sdopai.jar were included within the WAR file, and I have tried with them excluded from the WAR file to no avail. We have tried reverting the version of ojdbc.jar on the server to the earlier version, this has made no different.
Any ideas? The full stack trace is below:

If your code can't find the class then you have the classic NoClassDefFoundError problem you get when any other referenced class can't be located.
The oracle/sql/STRUCT class is in the ojdbc14.jar, ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc6.jar so if it can't be found then that class is missing from the jar you are using (which you can tell by examining the jar contents) or the jar is missing from the classpath being used.
As already mentioned you need the Oracle 11 JDBC files to support Java 1.6
Here is the official Oracle JDBC page that shows the Oracle DB versions supported for each of the JDBC drivers available and also describes the JDBC jars and what JDK versions they support.
