Transferring a lot of data from Access Database to Labview
I need to transfer 500000 -> 1000000 values in a Access database table to Labview. The values are selected using a query which is very fast if run in Access itself, but from Labview it's very slow. Obviously the connection between Labview and Access is the slow point.
Im using the NI Database connectivity toolset and a UDL file defines the connection. Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider is used.
To be honest i dont know what that really means, just that it normally works but now its stupidly slow for so much data.

Actually, I wouldn't find it nearly so annoying but for the part that says "In most database books you are told not to return large recordsets...". I prefer the freedom to make a mess of things myself, thanks.
On the plus side, the VI referenced in the article is fairly efficient, you just have to deal with type conversion once things have been moved into LabVIEW. -

There are a couple of different methods to communicate with Access in LabVIEW, and some are more difficult than others. You can use ActiveX Automation to open Microsoft Access and control many aspects of the Access Application. For actual database manipulation however, the Access automation classes rely upon the Microsoft DAO (Data Access Object) and/or ADO (ActiveX Data Object) classes. These classes can be used independently or through the Access automation classes to read and write data into an Access database. These classes can be difficult to use and may require a fair amount of SQL knowledge to accomplish a complicated task. Attached is a very simple example of how you can use DAO from the Access automation classes to read an Access table.

Does anyone know how to compact an Access Database programmatically from LabVIEW?
Can the Database Connectivity Toolset be used?I have created a LabVIEW solution for the MS Access DB compressing issues we have all seen.
I am actually using the MS Access Compress and Repair function via
Active X. There are ways to also use the Jet Engine to call the same
function, but I could not get it to work using a required DB Password
to be entered. The code uses the Database Toolkit from NI so I hope all
of you have that. It also uses MS Access 2000 active X component. It
should work for any version of Access, but it needs to be recompiled
for different versions of Access. let me know if it works out for any
of you.
The code allows to use a temp folder to create the compressed DB, or to
put it in a backup folder of your choice. It also handles replacing the
original database with the compressed one. The code finds the database
given the connection reference being passed in. I use the ADO
connection string to find the database location and the File DSN in
order to reconnect to the database. I built it for my specific needs
but I am sure any of you can customize it to your needs as well.

Can i link Labview to a access database?? I now activeX can do it, but which one??

You may also be able to do this programmatically using MSQuery in Excel or Access and you can control these products using LV. This would be rather challenging though.
The suggestion made I think is also possible.

Hi im trying to view a simple report , this report have some parameters from a MS Access database.
I configure everything, The ODBCJDBC bridge, the dns System on Windows, etc...
and the problem its like this,
I connect the database, but the schema its empty , i cant map, the dinamic parameters of my report, with my access database.

thanks to people that can help ...There are some other solutions possible.
1. Get another driver. The only one known is java only so it wont crash. But is not not free.
2. Use a proxy driver. That means that another app actually does the database work. If it crashes you just start it again (which you can do in your main code.) That way it won't take down your server. There are commercial jdbc drivers that claim MS Access but are are really just proxy implementations as an option in this area. -

I did a search of the examples on the web site and found 100s of examples on LabVIEW and an access database. Do a search at this link for "microsoft access database labview" Example Code Library
The top example I found is titled "Write Table in Columns to an Access Database" which sounds pretty close to what you are looking for.

What is the best way to use TestStand/Labview to access database?
Is it best to use the TestStand database step types or use existing Labview database connectivity code to access database?
The database will contain configuration data and results data. I am also not using the standard results collection feature. (Test procedure will possibly last days so I think it is inappropriate to use results collection feature.)
I'm just trying to make my code "future proof".

Hi im trying to view a simple report , this report have some parameters from a MS Access database.I configure everything, The ODBCJDBC bridge, the dns System on Windows, etc... and the problem its like this, I connect the database, but the schema its empty , i cant map, the dinamic parameters of my report, with my access database.I have this errors : at same time 1. I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly. Do you want to get this message at midnight at the transition from End_Date - 1 to End_Date?
I suggest you add a Timer that ticks every second or every couple of seconds. Whenever it ticks, compare DateTime.ToDay to End_Date.Date. You can do this in a loop processing all rows from the DataGridView (DGV). If the End_Date is reached, you have
to remember that for this row the day has already been recognized as the birthday. You can do this in the same row or by keeping another List. After that, call MessageBox.Show to display the message.
Please let us know if the DGV is data bound or unbound.
It is not clear what happens if the program is not always running. If it is started at End_Date, midnight has already been passed.
I do not see which role the Start_date plays in this comparison.
