MS Chart Angled Labels Look Jumbled

I have a column chart with angled X value labels.  When angled, some labels look jumbled and not in a flat, straight line.  Please see attached screenshot.  How can I improve the look of the labels when angled?

Hi Vegas,
After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. Based on my test, we can try to modify the FontStyle and FontWeight properties under LabelsFont group to make the label display better.

  • How do I rotate chart axis labels?

Trying to rotaet chart axis labels for the x-axis, but would like to know the same for the y-axis too. Know the solution for a text box, but doesn't seem to work for the axis labels.

    Hi Martin,
The solution is the same for X and Y labels. Select the labels and then set the rotation angle, either in the Format Bar or in the Metrics Inspector.

  • AMX Pie Chart Slice Label

I'm trying to customize the slice labels in my pie chart. It looks like the textType attribute of the dvtm:sliceLabel tag might provide me what I need, but there is little information. Where does the component get the "text" to display? The percentage is based on the pieDataItem's value attribute in relation to the whole as expected. I have the label and sliceId attributes also set for the pieDataItem component in the dataStamp facet but these are not showing up in the slice label as the text. Is there another component I need to add to the dataStamp facet that will be consumed by the sliceLabel text?

do paste this in the alt text of the chart ,
Right click the picture , select format picture and go to alt text tab.
paste this in between the graph element and not at the end or beginning.
    <SliceLabel visible="true">
    <ViewFormat decimalDigit="1" decimalSeparator="." decimalDigitUsed="true" decimalSeparatorUsed="true"/>
    </SliceLabel>

  • Chart Legend Labels

    Hi all,
It's extremely annoying to have to go thru all chart legend label displays and rename them to something else other than the formula.
For example, I have a Sum of @Formula that's displaying and in order to change that, I have to go into every single chart and right click > edit label
Is there a more round about way to do this update once?
    Thanks,

yes that's annoying. try this if you are willing to try a workaround...
    1) put a crosstab on top of the legend that contains your formula as the row.
    2) while still in the crosstab expert, get rid of the gridlines, the cell padding
    3) exit the crosstab expert and change the row height to match the line height of the legend
    4) change the background of the crosstab so that you can't see the legend
a bit more work, but it works.

  • Score looks jumbled

The score looks jumbled after changing time signature.  i.e.  2 time signatures, rests that do not belong.  I cannot erase them.  Is this a bug?  Help!

Post a little excerpt score of before and after you changed the time signature. In general you do not need to erase rests because the program calculates them automatically for you, also look here if in doubt:

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Pie Chart Data Labels

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure out why I cannot get the option to put pie chart data labels in the center of each slice.  There's an option to place them there, but everytime I select it, the graph reverts to putting the data labels on the outside with leader lines.  I was able to do it once, for one pie chart, but have not been able to get it to work for any others.  I've even tried creating a pie with only two slices in case there's a slice size limit below which the data is placed outside.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it worked once and now won't work again.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jim,
The issue could be faced because of the 'Auto-arrange' layout option enabled from Chart Expert within the report.
This option allows Crystal Reports to reset the chart layout to its original size and position
    To uncheck the 'Auto-arrange option':
    - First Go to Chart Expert-
    - Click on the Options Tab
    - Uncheck Auto - Arrange
    - Click OK
    I hope this helps,

  • How to display PIE chart Axis label horizontally?

    Hi
Currently my PIE chart axis label is displying in 2 lines. How make it to display in one line?
    Thank you

    hi,
For Pie chart there will be no X-axis or Y-axis terms generally.
Label/Text could be one of the following.
    Title?
    or Sub Title?
    or Foot note?
Right Click -> Format Title . Reduce the font size such that it fits into a single line.

Can you please tell me how I can get the pixel width of the labels that gets updated when user changes the screen resolution.
    Please let me know ASAP.
    Thanks

Basically, you need to customize the chart XML. That is quite easy to do.

  • Please suggest how can we place chart series label evenly in Pie Chart of SSRS 2008

Could you please suggest how can we place chart series label value evenly so that it doesnot overlap with each other and user can view the data properly.
Please find  the attached  screenshot for the same.

    Hi SubhadipRoy,
As Satish posted, the solution can achieve your goal. In addition, you can right click the Chart Series Labels and Series Label Properties, and then select Number in the left pane, finally select Scientific below the Category option. The data label may not
overlay. Or you can enlarge the chart.

  • Waterfall chart data labels - not rendering in Flash

I have a problem with the waterfall charts.  When I turn on the data labels, the charts fail to render in Flash - I get a axis and some garbled legend icons.  If I turn off the waterfall chart data labels, the problem goes away.  Clearly, there is some bug in the label coding.

Make sure you have the "Refresh before components are loaded" option checked on your QaaWS connection for the monthly data in the connection manager of Xcelsius.
To do this go to the connection manager in Xcelsius.  Go to the connection you want to edit.  Click the "Usage" tab.  Then check the first check box that reads "Refresh Before Components Are Loaded".
This will run that query as soon as the dashboard is loaded.  I think what may be happening to you now is that you have set a trigger cell of some kind that says, "When cell X becomes "XYZ" run the monthly data query.  But when the dashboard is first loaded cell X does not equal "XYZ" therefore the query does not run initially.  But then when you click the weekly tab and the back to the monthly tab you are setting cell X to "XYZ", therefore the query runs at that point.
    Hope this helps,
    Jeff

  • How to customize Flash Chart color scheme (Look 1 etc..)

    Hi,
Is their any way I can customize the Flash Chart color schemes (Look 1, Look 2). I know there's a "Custom" option but I'd like to define what Look 1 is so that I don't need to use custom values for each chart.
    Thank you,

    Thank you Dimitri
What you suggest is what I am currently doing.
But let's say I have to change the colors in all my graphs, I would have to go through all of them and change the "Custom Colors".
I was looking for something similar to a template where I would only have to change the color definition in one place...

  • How to Change Chart Category Labels(X) Alignment?

    Hello,
Does anyone know of a way to change the alignment of category labels in a line chart in Xcelsius?
The default appears to be vertical, but I have some long category labels that completely compress the chart, is there a way to angle the labels, wrap the text, or make them display horizontally?
    Thanks for looking,

  • Interactive Report Chart Missing Labels

I have a simple horizontal bar chart on an Interactive Report... There are 22 bars but only half of them (11) have labels. Bars 1, 3, 5, 7, etc have labels. If I click on the other bars I can see their labels but this is of no use when printing. The same issue happens frequently in various other charts whenever there are more than a few items to display. Our users have to download the reports to Excel and create the charts there in order to print or make presentations.

    Hi Rick,
The behaviour you are seeing, where not all labels are displayed, is expected given the size of the region the chart is being displayed in and the number of labels you wish to display. AnyChart will automatically handle the display of the labels in this case, and it is not possible to customise an Interactive Report chart to override this behaviour. My suggestion would be that you create a new Chart region, where you have more control over the chart you generate. Please refer to the section Creating Charts - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/app_comp.htm#CHDFEJAB - in Chapter 8 - Adding Application Components of the APEX User's Guide for more information. Once you have generated your chart, you can increase the height of your chart on the Chart Attributes page, and this will allow for the display of additional labels on the X-axis of your chart. Alternatively, you could look at the option of using the AnyChart axis label Stager mode, as outlined in the online AnyChart documentation here: http://anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/axes-labels-text-formatting.html#stager. As the mode name suggests, the positioning of the axis labels will be staggered, which will allow for the display of all of your labels without having to adjust the chart height. For your presentations, you can easily create the chart regions on the same page as your existing Interactive Reports, and you'll also have the ability to print the charts, save them as an image or as PDF.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • Chart/Columns labels

I am building a Column chart I'm not sure what its called but its where you add different series together to make a column chart (this option is second from the top and on the left side in the charts selector). I would call it a additive column chart. What I want to do is add a label to the chart. However, I don't want the labels of the individual series but the sum of the series. I would like this number to appear at the top of the Chart Column.
So for example if my data for a particular column says:
    Canada 10
    US 5
    Other 3
I want the number 18 to be displayed in the chart. It is an additive column of course so why can't I show the total?
I just want to show the total somehow as a number on the chart.
    Thank you.

That chart is called a stacked bar chart. I don't know how to do what you want automatically but I'll try a few things out and report back (unless someone else answers before I figure it out). You always have the option of putting text boxes on the chart with the numbers you want.
EDIT: Here's an idea that works but it kind of a pain. The advantage it has over individual text boxes is that it recalculates the sums and puts them in the correct place automatically.
    1. Create another column of data in your table that is the sum you want.
    2. Plot a bar chart of that column. Ensure the min and max on the Y axis are the same as your first chart. It would be best to set these in each chart so you can ensure they will never be different.
    3. Show value labels. This should show your sums.
    4. Hide all the other elements of this chart. No axis, no gridlines, no Y axis values, no X axis categories, etc.
    5. Set the fill color of the chart and the bars to none (in the Graphic Inspector)
    6. Slide it overtop of your first chart.
    7. Reposition/resize the chart until everything lines up and looks good.
For many operations, such as adding another row of data or changing values in your table, this should work out fine with no further adjustments required. For adding new rows of data to the chart, you will have to do it for both charts instead of just one.

  • Chart category labels

I made a bar chart and the labels are longer. I would like to have them be diagonal instead of horizontal, which is the auto setting. Numbers seems to make every other one disappear, because otherwise they would write over each other. If they are at an angle, then you could see the whole label. Is there a way to do that?

    Hi Suzanne,
    Edit: Alternate route:
Select the chart, then click on one of the labels to select the box containing them.
Open the inspector and choose the Metrics Inspector (ruler icon).
The Rotate control is at the bottom of the inspector pane. Use the jogging dial, enter the rotation in degrees counter clockkwise in the box, or use the stepper control on the right of the box.
    Regards,
    Barry
