MS Word "track changes" creates an abundancy of bookmark 1.1

Adobe Acrobat X Standard 10.1.3
Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6112.5000 (32-bit)
Windows 7 64bit
When exporting doc(x) files with track changes enabled to PDF, the bookmarks are often littered with bookmark 1.1 as you can see in the screenshot below. This problem does not occur when exporting files that have track changes disabled.
Is there a fix or a workaround for this issue? I could not find a related issue.
We have completely reinstalled this person's PC and reinstalled all the software and the issue remains.

I would simply print to the Adobe PDF printer or turn off track changes before printing. Tracking changes does strange things even when printing to a regular printer, so why would you think that Acrobat would not do some similar issues. My guess is that the track changes is marking the changes in such a way as to create this result. Of course, you could close the bookmark window also.
I know, not much help. Good luck if you want a different solution.

Since upgrading to OS X Mavericks I have not been able to work on any MS Word tracked changes documents (works fine if no tracked changes or comments in the doc). Every time upon opening such a word file with tr.changes the word processor closes / crashes.
What can be done in this case?

I just discovered that by turning off in tracked changes balloons in Word preferences prevents the software from crashing, but from then on I need to use only the review pane.

  • MS Word Track Changes and Acrobat Merge into a Single PDF

I am using Word 2007 to create a group of about 50 files that are being collected with Acrobat 9 Standard Merge Files Into a Single PDF feature.  I need to control whether the track changes in the word files are carried over to the PDF.  Said another way, I want a singe PDF with the track changes showing and another PDF witht he track changes off. Currently, the track changes are being filtered out (accepted) in the merged document.  Strangely, when printing a single document with track changes, the track changes show in the PDF.
I understand I could print each of my 50 files individually and then collect them with the merge feature, but I am hoping to take advantage of the automation.
How do I control the track changes printing / not printing?
    Thanks for the help!

Thank you for the comment!  If this is the best Acrobat can do, I will just have to lower my expectation.

  • MacBook Air + Microsoft Word + Track Changes = nightmare

I work part-time as an editor.  I use Microsoft Word on my MacBook Air and while I love my Mac for a million other things, it absolutely ***** when it comes to using Microsoft Word in Track Changes mode.  After just a little editing, the program crashes.  It's constant, it's regular, and it's a total nightmare.  How can I best get around this problem without having to use a PC to do my editing?

I'd recommend reinstalling Office, then. I use Word of Mac '11 (same version) without any issues working with track changes. I will say that it can sometimes be a bit sluggish (the application) as the document ages and the amount of changes that occur but never once has the application locked up entirely, crashed or quit on me.

  • Microsoft Word "track changes" error

Has anyone experienced this? Someone sent me a file with changes made using the "track changes" option. The file shows those changes perfectly on a PPC Mac. But on my MBP, the changes are not visible. I've done the obvious stuff -- the option to "highlight changes on screen" is selected, but it neither highlights on the screen nor when I print it.

What's the version of Word you are using?
How 2 or more reviewers shared the document and review it?
The timestamp/date is based on the reviewer's computer time, locate him and then eliminate timestamp in that document. Let the reviewer test the behavior.
    Thanks.

  • Microsoft Word: track changes, same timestamp on every comment balloon

Hello. I am having an issue with track changes. I can work on a document that has 2 reviewers or up to 10+ reviewers. Sometimes I see that in comment balloons the timestamp/date is the same on every single one. I do not understand why this is happening.
If anyone has run into this error before, please let me know if its a setting in Word that I need to unclick, etc.

  • Word Track (in Word) equivalent

Is there a feature in Pages similar to the Word Track Changes found in Microsoft Word? I need this for a school project ASAP...professor requires it and paper due by the end of the day.
    Please advise!!

Most users here in this forum don't use Word. What is word track, what do you exspect it to do?
Have you looked in the Pages User Guide if there is this feature? Download the guide from here _http://support.apple.com/manuals/#pages_

  • How can I export comments and tracked changes from Pages to Word?

I just purchased Pages and tried to export a couple pages of my document to Microsoft Word so I could send them for review to a client who does not have Pages; however, when I copy-pasted into Word, none of the comments or tracked changes showed up in the doc., only the finished product. I've tried updating my software, but that hasn't worked. Is there a way to fix this?

Here is what the Pages User Guide says:
" Exporting Pages Documents to Other File Formats
If you want to share your Pages documents with those who aren’t using the latest version of Pages, you can export your document to file formats that they may be able to use on their computers or other devices:
    • PDF: You can view PDF files in iBooks, and view or print them in Preview and Safari. You can edit them with a PDF application. Fonts used in the Pages document are preserved in the PDF file.
Hyperlinks in your Pages document are exported to the PDF file. Hyperlinks are also created in the PDF file for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email addresses, and bookmarks.
    • Microsoft Word: You can open and edit Microsoft Word files in Microsoft Word on a computer running Mac OS X or Windows.
Because of text layout differences between Microsoft Word and Pages, an exported Word document may contain a different number of pages than its Pages counterpart. You may notice other differences, as well, for example, table layouts and some special typographic features may not be identical. Some graphics (particularly those using transparency) may not display as well. Charts created in Pages appear as MS Graph objects, which you can edit in Microsoft Word.
    • RTF: You can open and edit RTF files in many different word processors. RTF files retain most of the text formatting and graphics.
    • Plain text: You can open and edit plain text files in many text editing applications, such as TextEdit. Exporting to plain text removes all document and text formatting, and images aren’t exported. ePub: You can open ePub files for reading in the iBooks application on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, or in any ePub file reader. After you export your document to ePub format, you must transfer it to your device to read it in iBooks. To learn more about optimizing a document for ePub format, exporting it, and transferring it to your device, see “Creating an ePub Document to Read in iBooks” on page 257.
If your Pages document is password-protected, the password-protection is removed from the new file that's created upon export. However, if you export to the PDF file format, you can apply a new password at the time of export. "

  • Word for iPad - Does Track Changes Work?

I use MS Office at work and need to edit lots of documents.  I am considering biting the bullet and getting an Office 365 Subscription so I can use the new Office for iPad apps. (I know that they are 3 separate apps, it's just easier to say it this way)
I do need to know if the Track Changes function works in the iPad version even close to how it works on the Desktop version of Word.  Has anyone checked this out?  Have you tried to send a document with track changes turned on back and forth between a couple of people to see what happens when the doc is opened and closed by different people and sent via email.
I just don't want to waste my money trying to get the one feature I really need.

OK I shelled out the hundred bucks for the annual subscription to Office 365 (And then two days later found it for $79 at Office Depot, sheesh!).
So far it seems to be worth the money if you need to edit or create documents on your iPad.  If you only need to read docs, spreadsheets or review PowerPoints, just get the free versions and stick with them.
The nice thing about the annual subscription is that we can put Office on 5 computers AND 5 tablets.  And it is supposed to always be up to date.  So I now have access to Office 2013 pretty much everywhere I go.  And with the free (somewhat crippled I will admit) versions of the Office apps on OneDrive on the web, I am in business as long as I can connect to the internet.
I have tried all the apps on my iPad and find them to be very well executed and easy to use.  Track changes works just like on my desktop PC so that made it worth it for my wife who uses it all the time when reviewing dissertations for her students.  And it works for me when I am editing files with my coworkers.
If you don't mind having to pay the annual subscription fee and you need to edit docs on the run and you don't want to have to drag a full sized laptop around with your, I would recommend getting the apps and paying the fee to activate Office 365.
The only con I have run across so far is that the Save As option to save a document to your iPad so you can work on it between internet connections is less than intuitive. You have to make a copy, not surprising, but the option to do this is called Duplicate rather than a simple and easy to understand, Save As.

  • Is there a way to retain the track changes from a Microsoft Word document when working on a IPAD word processing App?

I am going on a work trip and want to be able to collaborate with my colleagues, almost all of whom will be using Microsoft Word on Microsoft Windows laptops and I want to draft and collaborate on documents.  The approach we always take to such collaboration is to use the track changes feature in Microsoft Word that shows changes and who made the changes. As best I could tell apples Pages software ignores the notations added by the track changes features and accepts all changes to the document making it difficult to see what changes were made and by whom.
I would appreciate any suggestions to address this challenge.

I noted from some similar topics that Pages seems to support track changes but that while it reflects deletions made in Microsoft Word, it does not appear to show them -- is there a way to fix this problem?

  • Exporting Track Changes to Word no longer works

Just like it says in the subject line: It used to be that I could get a Word doc with Track Changes on and comments from my editor, do my own changes/add comments, then export it as a Word doc no problem. Now Pages either refuses to export the document or mangles it when exporting, causing certain changes to be automatically accepted or declined.
I was hoping that today's iCloud update for iWork would have this little bug fix in it, but no luck. Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix it?
    Thanks!

I think your problem could be a simple one of corrupt preferences. I think Yvan's script removes them, but maybe not. When something that used to work stops doing so, the most likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.

  • Microsoft word 2008 crashes abruptly when trying to use track changes

    Hi,
I believe this may be related to recently downloading Yosemite:
Every time I try to use Microsoft Word (2008) with "track changes" on, Word shuts off abruptly.
Has any one else had this problem?  Is there a way to fix it?
I've already tried Disk Utility - disk & disk permissions repair.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

You should note that this forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office or your question in any way. If you have issues or questions about Office, it's probably best you post Office related questions on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products.

  • Office for Mac 2011: Tips for speeding up Word when using tracked changes and comments?

I run a fresh installation of Office for Mac 2011 (v. 14.4.1) on a brand new Macbook Pro 13" Retina 2.4GHz with 16GB RAM running 10.9.2. The Office package is fully up-to-date.
I mainly use Word and find that it is extremely slow when I track changes. Documents need not be particularly large - even in a 30-page document after a few pages of tracks typing becomes a pain, in particular in comment bubbles where the text shows up letter-by-letter and only finish several seconds after I've stopped typing. Other programs run at the same time do not suffer from this horrible lag.
I have searched and seen that this is not uncommon so it appears that Microsoft's coders are not particularly well versed in coding for Mac.
My question is if other users have found ways to improve the situation, for instance by trashing plists or something like that? This is really driving me crazy
    Many TIA
    Philip

  • Track changes in customer material info (VD52) and create custom IDocs

    Dear experts,
we want to track changes, which are made in VD52 (Customer matertial info record) and create custom IDocs (Z-format) based on these changes. What is the best way to do this?
    Best regards,
    David

    Hi,
There are a dedicated BTEs (Business Tranaction Event) for this purpose (transaction FIBF).
    - created customer material infos OUTBOUND_CALL_00504001_E
    - changed customer material infos OUTBOUND_CALL_00504002_E
    - deleted customer material infos OUTBOUND_CALL_00504003_E
You can assign your own FM to the BTE and send custom IDoc whenever there is a new/updated/deletd customer-material info record.
    Regards,
    Marcin

  • Word blacks out text; possibly related to Track Changes feature

(also posted to Microsoft Answers forum, but I suspect that this is going to need Pro assistance!)
I was editing a 150+ page document in Word 2007 (on Windows 7 PC with all updates applied). I'd already been working with the document for several hours when suddenly large chunks of the document were blacked out. Paging up or down eliminated the problem
    momentarily, but further edits caused it to happen over and over again. Some squiggly underlines show through the black, but little else. We realized that it was happening when I had Track Changes on and displayed the changes in balloons rather than inline;
when I moved the mouse into the area where the balloons were displayed, that's when the text was blacked out.
We figured that the document was corrupted. However, this is also happening now with another document that's much shorter and far cleaner than the first one. The problem also occurs on PCs other than mine. I opened a clean template, pasted the
unformatted text from the source document into the clean template, and the problem persists in the new doc, so I don't think it's a problem with the documents -- or at least not solely.
We tried this on a newer PC with a ramped-up video card and got the same results. It has not happened (near as we can tell) with Track Changes turned off, but I must track the changes I make so working with TC off isn't an option.
Before anyone asks, I cannot provide a copy of any of the documents because they are strictly confidential.
    TIA!

    Hi,
I have tried in my Word 2007 with Track Changes and I cannot reproduce the issue.
Since you also tried in other files and PCs, so try to open the file in safe mode to check the issue.
