MSI 8800gt compatibility issues (will there be a downgrade patch?)

So...bought my 8800gt yesterday, very excited to start playing...
Unfortunately I get some very nasty beeps on POST and nothing less then black screen...the card isn't accepted by BIOS.
It seems that there are many MB's having issues to detect the new 8800gt that works on PCI-e version 2.0, more specifically some (not all it seems) PCI-e 1.0 MB's have this issue.
I have one of those MB's, mine is a ms-7318, chipset VIA PT890.
Now my question...Asus seem to have released somes files to flash their GPU back, which fixes alot for the ASUS (and some non asus) users. I'm not going to try it on my MSI.
BUT...I'm really hoping MSI will release some kind of solution!! I'm totally blocked now. My MSI GFX card doesn't work on my MSI MB, which is only one year old. What I can do is return my card where I bought it, and ask an ASUS in return, so I can flash it back...but I'm gonna wait with trying that.
Please tell me a solution is on it's way.
The seller of my card called MSI and they told him they are not aware of any problems of that kind.
Cheers and regards

Read Moan Guide
Make sure that VGA is filled well and makes good contact with PCI-E slot.
Make sure power cables are connected to the VGA.
Does the VGA FAN spinup?
List PSU details (look for them over PSU sticker)
Thanks for your answer.
I will update my signature later today when I'm home.
Yes, the card is placed like it should. (after couple times switching between old GFX and new MSI card I think I must have placed it correctly at least ONCE  :D)
Yes, external power is connected to the VGA
The fan actually makes a loud sound when I plug the cable, then when I switch the computer on it makes that loud sound again...the fan runs at full speed but doesn't succeed the POST, some long beep and couple of short beeps.
The psu is a 500w if I'm not mistaking, but it sure is a +400w, as I replaced it recently, will check tonight to be sure.

Mine charges just fine, as does everyone's iPhone 4S that I know. Apple even sells a number of car chargers that are certified to work:

Perhaps there is a problem with your charger or the outlet you're using in your car/truck.

  • MSI 7770 Compatibility Issue??? Bios Issue???

    Hello
I recently got a 7770 to replace my factory 420
My computer is a DELL XPS 8300
Computer doesnt post with the 7770
Replaced my PSU and installed a 600w but still nothing
7770 works,  tested on another PC
I got some info from DELL forum. Something to do with the UEFI
Copy from their forum  "support sent me a non-uefi bios to flash the video card with. After I updated the video card bios on another PC, I installed it in my XPS 8300 and the system booted succesfully. So far everything looks good for me"
Non UEFI bios means GOP BIOS?
I already flashed my card with that. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=170948.0
I would appreciate some info for my problem. Dont know what to do and to be honest im a bit confused
    THX

Em, no what was suggested in their forum was the other way round. The person tried a NON-Gop (legacy-) vbios. If a UEFI board isn't GOP compliant what your Dell computer's UEFI then seems to be it won't post with a vga that uses a GOP compliant vbios. To fix that the card is flashed with a legacy vbios. As you have no clue if your card previously had a GOP vbios or not I can't tell if the GOP is the issue. At least the vbios you flashed is GOP compliant and would therefor surely not help if the described above is your issue.
Add a copy of your first vbios.

  • Will there be a winXP downgrade option for t410

Hi will there be a downgrade option to winXP 32bit for the t410 + win7 64bit?
How long do you provide winXP 32bit driver?
    How do the downgrade work?
Do you offer t410 + winXP pro 32bit?
Do the t400 battery fit in the t410?
Do the t410 have a secend battery slot=

This site indicates that XP will be a preload option.  No idea how accurate this is.

  • MSI Twin Frozr GeForce 770 Compatibility Issue?

My new system crashes intermittently during any game. I normally can play for about a half hour but the times very greatly. Also the way the game crashes varies. Sometimes the game will just shut game. Sometimes it will freeze. And Sometimes the computer will turn right off.
I think it might be a compatibility issue because when I put my other video card (A GeForce 550ti) into this computer it runs fine. Also when I run the GeForce 770 in my other computer it seems to run fine there too.
Do you guys think this is a hardware compatibility issue? Or do you have any troubleshooting suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I am having trouble accessing webmail on TalkTalk (formerly Tiscali) using Firefox 5.0 and TalkTalk tell me there is a compatibility issue?

I had no problem with my previous version of Firefox and I can access my TalkTalk/Tiscali webmail using the latest IE browser. I am able to sign in but cannot access the mailbox contents. When I asked TalkTalk about the problem they have stated the following "If you are unable to access the mailbox using Firefox version 5, then I would like to inform you that there is compatibility issue with Firefox version 5 and Talk Talk webmail, due to which you are getting the above error. You can also try uninstalling the latest version of firefox and then reinstall it to the earlier version to resolve the case." May I assume that between you this difficulty will be resolved? I would prefer to use Firefox and do not wish to revert to IE.

Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.
You can find the instructions for that in a post on the TalkTalk forums: [http://www.talktalk.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=185113#post2452787 Firefox 4 & TalkTalk webmail - Forums].
Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.
    Does it work?

  • Is there/Will there be a "device" to check for M.L. compatability?

I have a late 2008 white MacBook. It's the 2.4Ghz model with 4GB Ram. I think it would be powerful enough to run Mountain Lion but maybe there's a proc compatability issue?
If I buy ML from the app store and it doesn't install will I still be charged for it?
    Thanks.

    Here you go.
Have a look at the list and see if your MB is listed to be compatible.

  • MSI R9 290X Lightning & PCIe 2.0 Compatibility issues?

A week ago I purchased the 290X Lightning from Amazon (Sadly, their logistics service was horrendous and is another reason why I returned both), Instantaneously I had issues. I thought the card must have been faulty as I have a 700W Cooler Master rated PSU which could easily handle the load I would have thought... (Correct me if I'm wrong here. I did try both cards with 8+8+6 and just 8+8 Pins), so I returned it for a replacement.
Sadly, the second card also had these issues of constant rebooting or freezing/stalling on light loads or heavy loads (more frequently lighter loads oddly enough?) e.g. Using VLC or Web Browsing.
It occurred to me today that the 290X has a different method of power delivery and uses the PCI express bus slot for power too, is there any reason to speculate that my Motherboard (ASUS M4A78LT-M) with Generation 2.0 PCIe x16 slots have compatibility issues with the 290X lightnings power delivery?
I would love to try and get a working 290X lightning but I cannot waste my time and money constantly sending them back...
    For reference:
    My Current System:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 with Update 1 Pro N 64 Bit
    CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965
    MOBO - ASUS M4A78LT-M
    RAM - 2x4GB Kingston Hyper-X Blu
    GPU - Sapphire HD 6850 1GB (Before MSI 290X Lightning(s))
    SSD - SanDisk 128GB
    HDD1/2 - 2TB WD Green / 320GB Samsung
    Monitor(s) - 29" LG 29UB65 & 23" LG (Forgotten Model) Monitor
    Case - Corsair 750D
PSU - Cooler Master Silent Pro M, 700 Watt, 80+ (Bronze) - NOTE: Yes the CM PSU does have two separate 8 pin PCI connectors (Each cable has 6+2 and 6 pin connectors)

    Sounds like your PSU!
I myself am running an 850 Watt PSU, and with the beast of a card the Lightning is, 700 May truly not be enough.
PCI-E Gen 3.0 cards are backwards compatible with Gen 2.0, so that is not the issue. Up until last week I was running the Lightning on an Asus Saber-tooth 990 FX R2.0 board which is Gen 2.0 and had no issues. But my UPS battery alarm would go crazy when I fired up a game. This never happened when i had even 2 x GTX 780 cards in SLI, so this card alone is still pulling more juice than my system ever had (even with SLI 780's). So I would really suspect your PSU is the culprit here.
What drivers are you running? I had Bluescreen with the latest 14.6 betas and eyefinity......
(And why don't you like Amazon's logistics, I find amazon the be one of the BEST on-line e-tailors I have ever used)

  • Seagate ST8000AS0002 8TB 5900RPM 128MB Cache SATA3 - for Backup Data Only. Are there any compatibility issues with an older  3,1 Apple Mac Pro 8-Core 2.8GHz (4-Core x 2) ?

Finally mass storage drives are being released. The Seagate ST8000AS0002 8.0 TB 5900RPM has just been released in Australia and I was advised to check on any compatibility issues, being that my 3,1 Mac Pro is an old, but working fine machine.
I have read there are possible issues with using HDs greater than 2TB with the MP 3,1 . But checking with OWC, they say the Seagate 4.0 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive is compatible for use with the MP 3,1.
So can the hardware and operating system handle an 8.0 TB of this sort ?

The problem is with formatting the large disk. The Mac can see and use them if formatted for a Mac
    Format large disks
That bug appeared in 10.8.4, and has not yet been fixed.
using a Disk Utility from any older Mac OS X, including the 10.6 DVD (if your Mac can boot from it) or any saved Installer DVD or thumb drive will work.
Another work-around is to move that drive to an external enclosure and Erase it there (provided your enclosure is modern enough to deal with drives over 2.2TB.

  • Are there ANY compatibility issues with Itunes 12.0.1 and Mavericks?  Don't want to download Yosemite.  Not hearing good things about it.

Are there ANY compatibility issues with Itunes 12.0.1 and Mavericks?  Don't want to download Yosemite.  Not hearing good things about it.  I'm on Mavericks 10.9.5.

one obstacle, quickly removed. thank you.
nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.
i hope that is enough to get an answer to this: is it unadvisable to update its OS; in other words, if i update to 10.9, will the machine be able to handle it, 'speedwise'?

  • Are there any compatibility issues with Sonos and Airport extreme??

are there any compatibility issues with Sonos and Airport extreme??

Sonos uses its own priopietory wireless protocol SonosNet to distribute audio data among all its products, thus it should not affect other network devices which use standard WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n protocol at all though they may share the same radio channel for wirless signaling.
On my dual-band (5 GHz / 2.4 GHz) Airport Extreme staion, I select the option "802.11n Only (5GHz) - 802.11n (2.4GHz)" and turn on "Use wide channels" in Wireless configuration in order to use only 802.11n protocol and more radio channels to achieve maximum wireless bandwidth of 400 Mbps. This bandwidth is necessary for quick Time Machine backup to NAS connected to the Airport Extreme station through Ethernet cable. So my iMac and MacBook Pro always connected to the Airport Extreme through 5 GHz radio channel with 802.11n protocol whereas my iPhone 4S always connected through 2.4 GHz radio channel with the same protocol.
In my living room Sonos ZP-90 (same as new CONNECT model) zone player is connected to Airport Extreme directly through Ethernet cable (recommended by Sonos) and Sonos S5 (same as new PLAY:5 model) zone player in bedroom is connected wirelessly through SonosNet protocol to the ZP-90 zone player in living room.
These devices are in operation simutaneouly most of the time. Music is playing through the Sonos ZP90/S5 zone players througout the day, I am streaming viedo through Internet (fibre broadband 25 Mbps) on my MacBook Pro in bedroom or iMac in living room or reading news on my iPhone. So far so good and have no encounter any interference problem for about three years. Further more bandwidth for 802.11n protocol does not seem to be affected at all.
In fact with a low power Fujitsu USB drive (2.5" / 500 GB, designed for notebook) plug into USB port of Airport Extreme, it can be used as NAS drive for Sonos music distribution system without any problem. Just transfer all files from Music folder in my home directory on iMac into this NAS drive and set it up as music source in "Manage > Music Library Settings" in Sonos Controller for Mac application will do. Though the same drive can be served as Time Machine's backup disk as well, an independent full-fledged NAS drive for Sonos and Time Machine backup is better long-term solution for reliability and performance. With the NAS configured as sole music source, you do not need to keep any computer powered on all the time in order to play music through the Sonos system.

  • HT201328 I am going to India, the ATT says the is unlocked and follow the procedure back up,erase, insert new sim, restore.  Is it that simple?  Will there be any problem when igo to India with local SIM card?  How to find out compatibility of local SIM car

I am going to India.  ATT says phone is unlocked.  Can I use local SIM card to use my i phone5?  Will there be any compatibility problem.

If AT&T authorized your unlock, you received the email from them giving you instructions to unlock and you followed those instructions, followed by a message in iTunes saying Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked, then you will have no issues using a local SIM. However, your warranty is only good in the US, and it may not support all of the bands in India, especially LTE.

  • Are there any known compatibility issues with iMac and Google Chrome?

Does anyone know of any compatibility issues with iMac and Google chrome. A Facebook friend who is a photographer posted recently that Chrome had ruined his iMac. He stead that it ran an update on itself that made safari and chrome unusable - slow running overall. In the end he had to reinstall his OS.
Is anyone aware of this and should I un-install Chrome off my Mac?
    Thanks,
    S.

There is nothing official but your post will attract a variety of personal experiences.   I once loaded Chrome and found myself with the dreaded MacKeeper malware, loads of pop ups and conflicts with my system.   Part of the problem is the huge range of add ons you are tempted to  take on, many of which are not as strictly tested as Apple extensions.   I would say, unless you have a specific reason, leave it alone.   The best browser is Firefox and for Macs, Safari is OK.

  • Is there a compatibility issue with the Current USB 3 external Hard drives and MacBook Pro 2011 (USB 2)?

I am currently having bad hangs with my 13" MacBook Pro (2011) which I book 2012 ad a New external Harddrive (WD My Passport Edge) which was given to me as a gift.
Friends of mine told me there is a compatibility issue between the USB 3 cord and the USB outlet of my MacBook Pro.
Although this shouldnt be the case as the box of the Hard drive I got said it was compatible.
I even downloaded the WD Drive Utilities and sometimes whenthe Harddrive is plugged in the Utilities doean't Open but just bleeps in the Applications Dock.
Before I used the Harddrive I read a lot from the WD Manual and went to their site and downloaded a firmware update so I really don't know what the problem is.
What I am afraid of is that I may lose some files if I place them in the external Harddrive.
Can anyone help me with this or should I be asking for a replacement harddrive?
This is my first experience with an external hard drive as I never used one before.
    Thank you very much.

To be honest, I've had back luck with Western Digital drives and I avoid them at all costs. If I were you, I would return the WD drive and look at externals from OWC or MacMall (LaCie, even G-Tech).
That's just my personal opinion, mind you...
