Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.
HELP!

p-fulla, I'm not to sure about your system and Windows XP but check out these tweeking sites.

(A little advice: If you can, dump XP and install a copy of Windows 2000 second edition. They both have the same KERNAL but I find that Win 2000 is much more compatible for now. I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)

  • Project properties Frame rate locked

    Goog Morning,
I have a problem with Motion, in the Project properties I have the Frame rate locked. See pictures: http://www.lightimage.ch/deposito/2
If I choose CUSTOM I can't modify the frame rate. I tryed to choose HDV 1080i50 but the frame rate remain 29.97, (see: http://www.lightimage.ch/deposito/3) I click OK but if I return in Project properties, the frame rate is again 29.97.
    Anyone can help me?
    The video settings is:
    HDV 1080i50 PAL
    Thank you very much.

    hi,
you cant modify the frame rate once a project has been created. Once you open Motion you should be asked of you want to start a new project or other. You can select in the general preferences what you want motion to do at start-up. Choose new project, then you should be able to choose custom, from there you will be able to select the frame rate. You can then save this is a default empty project if you wish

  • What is the best frame rate to shoot/edit with for export to DVD?

Hello, I am going to shoot some instructional martial arts videos that need to be exported to DVD. I haven't exported to DVD since 2005. I am curious what the best frame rate is to shoot with and edit in Premiere to export to DVD. I've read conflicting information online. Some forums say that you can edit in whatever frame rate you want as long as the output is SD, 30i, which seems outdated to me.
I'm shooting on the GH2, so my options are 1080 24p (which has terrible strobiness compared to other cameras at 24p), 1080 60i, 720 60p, and apparently there is an HBR firmware update that allows 1080 30p. I want the motion to be as unstroby as possible, without being too soft. My friend's camera can shoot 1080 60p and I'm considering buying the G6, which also shoots 1080 60p. But I've read online that 60p to DVD looks choppy.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
    Jeremy

Thank you Jim. I do have one more question with regards to your advice:
I am putting the new firmware on my GH2 today, so I will be able to capture 1080/30p as opposed to only 1080/60i to edit in the 30p timeline. Is there a reason you would prefer 60i over true 30p at the same res? I've had problems with interlacing in the past never quite going away and getting funky when doing slow motion and other effects.

  • MSI GeForce 8800 Ultra OC Lock / Freeze ups

Hi, this seems to be a general problem not just with MSI, I'm reading exactly the same problems being experienced by other 'Ultra' users.
After 20 or so mins of play (mainly bf2 / COH / Far Cry for me) the card/display driver crashes, the screen flickers and sound pulses then ultimately Windows (XP) locks-up/BSOD's.
If I ctrl-tab quick enough I can go back into Windows and 2d is fine. If I then try and reload a game or any 3d app, it will immediately hang again, ie the only way to recover is to reboot.
The GPU temperature reported is fine around 80 degrees at time of crash.
However, I can run 3dmark2006 to my hearts content with no issue and the same with FSX.
I tried lots of different things, endless driver revisions (yes use Driver Cleaner 1st), re-installing games etc to no avail.
Increasing the GPU fan to 100% with Riva-Tuner has no effect but removing the side panel of my computer does result in no problem (strange eh).
Now from what I have read, it is a problem with the memory being overclocked too much at factory.
So as recommended by a poster to another thread, I reduced the factory 2300mhz memory speed down to 2200mhz and now I am running fine.
I have a large Thermaltake case with 4 system fans so cooling is not an issue. Having said that, even if I had no fans the card should still not crash as the product does not specify any special cooling requirements.
Has anyone else with this card experienced the same problem? Is it a driver issue, or a problem with this card that is known about by MSI? Or is the card faulty, should I send it back?
I reported the problem to my reseller after 1 day and they told me they would need the card for 7 days and send it back to MSI if they couldn't find a fault. I am not prepared to do that and if it is not fit for my purposes, shouldn't they offer me an instant refund even if they test it and it works for them. I know for a fact they won't pay someone to sit there playing bf2 for half and hour lol, they will more likely run 3dmark and then tell me card is fine, when it isn't (for me)!

OMG THIS IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I HAVE!!
Ok sorry for caps. I have the exact same specs as elmes. I even had the exact same card as him previously x1900xtx from powercolor and it was rock solid for 1.5 years. I got the first MSI 8800 Ultra a couple of weeks ago and I launched EQ2 and lo and behold everything's great until I start seeing a weird black line flash in the middle of the screen every 20-30 seconds. Having had experience with problems like these I knew it was overheating or bad memory on the GPU or so I thought at the time. I have a ThermalTake Armor case with an 80mm fan custom mounted on the side blowing directly at the mobo and CPU, a Zalman 9500 on the CPU blasting the hot air across the case into the back exhaust 80mm, i've got a 40mm at the top of the case blowing the air out, 2 80mm front mounted blowing in and an extra exhaust 40mm in the back and the 80mm fan that comes side mounted on my OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU. So as you can tell the power and cooling is not a problem. Card runs 60c idle and max of 85c during ati tool artifact scan for 5 hours. (bosskiller could you please explain what combined PSU mode is exactly? i've never heard of that either, i have 2 PCI-E cables securely connected to the GPU).
So I launched CoH and same black lines, only worse.  I then went on and downclocked the card to 635/2200 and surely enough all problems went away as far as the black line was concerned. So after poking around the net and ripping out a few hairs on my head for paying so much money for a buggy GPU, i decided to RMA it through Newegg. At the time I thought that maybe the box got damaged being shipped from CA to MA or I just got a bad card...
So I got a brand new 8800 last night, overnighted from NJ in fact. Box in perfect condition and everything inside....
    I launch EQ2.....play for 30 minutes....no black lines...........WOW......n4_disp crash to desktop 5 min later..............
So sure enough I thought ok, don't panic....bad drivers.....uninstalled all of my nvidia drivers (I have an MSI P6N Diamond mobo too btw, had severe problems with software raid, SiL's running well now) and 162.18 release drivers....installed 158.22....same problem.
In an hour, the card started crashing in EQ2 every 5-10 minutes (and this was also at a particularly bad time as I was getting mauled by a lvl 57 epic djinn Al'zheri)....no black lines this time. So off I went and clocked it down to 635/2200 as I had the previous card, all problems vanished. Ran ATI tool artifact scan for overnight....all stable. Played EQ2 for an hour and a half this morning....all stable....
So now I'm certain that MSI 8800 Ultra is clocked too high. In fact go and take a look at the OC settings of other VGA manufacturers, MSI is the highest with the exception of XFX.
So either the QA team at MSI didn't do a proper job or 2 cards shipped from different locations with a 2 week delay in between happened to magically be bad. I'm gonna call Newegg today and see if I can exchange it for another brand.....

The better question is what are your CPU and GPU temperatures? Use CoreTemp and MSI Afterburner to get that information WHILE playing a game.

  • Frame rate drop while streaming with FMLE 3.2

    Hello,
I was streaming locally at about 300 kbps, about 10 seconds after I start streaming, it pop a brief message that said : "buffering" and
the framerate drops to 90 kbps and there is about 4 seconds lag between my monitor and the stream result. (there was less then 1 second before)
Any idea how can I fix this buffering issue?

receiveVideoFPS is method of NetStream class. For more information about this, you can check the following link:

This can be set in the player code.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 780 SLI question.

    Hi,
I wonder if my MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming OC is compatible with the MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning LE in SLI?
    Thanks!
    BR, Tobias

as long as both cards are using the same GPU (GTX 780 GK110) and they both have the same amount of VRAM (EG: 3GB+3GB) then they will be able to be used in SLI as long as your PSU can power both of them!
you can use SLI even with different manufacturers cards so long as its the same spec (GPU) as the other and the VRAM frame buffers match each other as both need the same amount!

  • How to change the maximum frame rate of the camera by changing the image size?

I have two  acA2040-180km cameras which are connected to 2 NI PCIe-1433 framegrabbers, I am monitoring my cameras by LabView, maximum allowable frame rate is about 187 for full resolution images, but I just need a small fraction of the images, I know if I make the images smaller, FPS will get higher, but it isn't possible by changing the image size in NI MAX, I've also tried to change the size by defining the region of interest in the grab setup.vi, but it would be after going to camera so it isn't the case as well, so I need a VI to go to the camera before starting to take photo and define the region of interest which is going to be captured, would you please help me to find it?
Please help me, this problem get me stuck!!!

Have you tried changing the image size using property nodes as Bruce suggested? Do remember with Basler cameras, reducing the width only will not affect the transfer speed but the reducing the height will. Have a look at the frame calculator to understand what you frame rates you can acheive with certain settings:

  • Setting video frame rate

    Hi,
Are there someone had been able to control frame rate of video chating with actionscript or somthing else?
I have no preference which would be to set it in static or dynamic.
    Thank you
    Ono Keiji

you can use your camera and microphone when connected to Stratus.  however, you can only publish your camera/microphone for direct connections (new NetStream(nc, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS)), and subscribers must use the direct connect API to get the stream from you (new NetStream(nc, <your-peer-id>)).  in this mode, your video/audio stream never goes to the server, but travels directly from you (the publisher) to the subscribers.  that's the *only* mode that Stratus supports.
because your stream may be received by multiple peers, you must choose a bandwidth (and other encoding parameters) that is likely to fit through the path(s) between the publisher and subscriber(s).  if the encoding parameters you've chosen exceed the bandwidth between publisher and subscriber, eventually frames will be dropped.  also in bandwidth exhaustion situations, because audio is higher priority than video, you may see audio and video go out of sync at the publisher.
if you set a fixed frame rate and a bandwidth cap, then the encoder will vary the quality to fit within the parameters you've fixed.

  • Variable Frame Rate

If I have clips that were recorded at different frame rates, say 24fps and 60fps, and I put them in the same video project, how does PE11 handle this? Will it cause issues or lower the quality?

    AudreyRose2012
Slow motion for your 1080p60 will be achieved in either of three ways in Expert workspace (project preset no part of this):
    a. Interpret Footage. Frame Rate section of the Interpret Footage dialog. Right click file in Project Assets, select Interpret Footage, and, in Frame Rate section, dot Assume this frame rate, and type in your wanted frame rate)
    b. Time Stretch. Set Duration for less than 100%. This will increase the length of the video and apply a slow motion effect.
    c. Time Remapping.
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-elements-11/time-remapping-with-adobe-premiere-el ements-11/
Until proven otherwise, I would use the
NTSC AVCHD AVCHD 1080p60 project preset
and apply Interpret Footage to that video for which you want a slow motion effect. You could also consider Time Remapping feature with or  without Frame Blend option that is built into Time Remapping.
I never use the frame rate same as source for exporting. It typically does it own thing under those circumstance and that is not always the frame rate that should have been. I would take the time to specify the frame rate in export along with all the rest of the export settings.
If you are going to upload your Expert workspace Timeline to Vimeo, I would try the settings suggested by SG...that is, Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = VimeoHD. The default there is 1280 x 720, so I would customize the setting under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset to give 1920 x 1080. Set the Level and Profile first, so that you can type in the 1920 x 1080 values. Then you would upload the AVCHD.mp4 file that you obtain and upload it to Vimeo at the Vimeo web site.
In the following Export Settings dialog for that export. I have the frame rate set for 59.94 progressive frames per second. Depending on your project plan, you can reset that to your preference
If you decide to upload your Expert workspace Timeline to Vimeo via the program's Publish+Share/Online/Vimeo with Presets = VimeoHD, you cannot change the 1280 x 720 resolution there.
Please review all comments and let SG know of your progress.
    Thanks.

  • MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb or NOT?

Me and my friend just bought new MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb that came also with that VIVO cable and other accessories. I also looked on the sticker that was on the back side of the card and there it was writen that this card is 5900SP. All OK!
This card came in OEM version! Then I took a look around and I saw on the MSI internet site and elsewhere that 5900SP has also a heatsinks on the RAM. And my card does not have that heatsink on the ram that looks like a cooper half-circle around the GPU HSF.
My card looks same as MSI Geforce FX 5900XT which is not coz I have a VIVO function. Take a look for the MSI geforce FX 5900XT which does not have that heat sinks on the ram.
My ram is clocked as follows 2D: 300/700 and 3D: 400/700.
Anyone there with this version of FX 5900SP card - without the heatsinks on the RAM?
    Just curious what I have?!

Go to the link provided below and get the zipped excel spreadsheet that is provided by GlennVidia. It should answer your question I believe.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=12335&sid=
I have the 5900FXSP 256mb which comes with a twin flow cooling system. (2 fans, one on each side incl the copper heatsink) where yours I believe is the 128mb SP version that comes with a fansink cooling system as a standard. The spec sheet points out the differences between the products.
    Hope this helps

  • Frames rates encode to audio files

    Hello,
I am not a Soundtrack pro user nor a Final cut pro user, (I use REAPER, and other audio programs); however, I got two people who called me asking (because I am apparently there only audio person they know) "how to change the frame rate on audio already recorded?" One person used the zoom H4N, and the other used a MAudio (?) recorder.. I looked them up and there is no encode to match the frame rate of the film to the sound. It seems that both recorders have no function to do frame rate encoding. (film speed was 24 frames not 30 frames.)
Is there a function to change the audio encode to match the frame rate of the film with in these programs?
What I know is sound is sound; 10 min of footage equals 10 min of audio. It is the encode that tells the film edit tool this is to match 24 frame or 30 frame.
I have looked into the manuals (table of contents) of Final cut pro and Soundtrack pro and not found the key words "Frame rate change to audio files" or "encode to audio files for frame rate"... I also looked online with the words "Frame rate change for Audio files" and "Audio encode frame rate change."
Can anyone help me to pass this information back to these people?
    Thank you!

Tell them to change the sample rate to 48khz/16bit. Straight audio does not have a frame rate.

  • 9400M intermittent low frame-rate : let's get heard !

    hello
i have the exact same problem described on this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2085771&tstart=1
" Has anyone else noticed, the performance of the NVIDIA 9400M graphics chip is intermittent. Sometimes everything will be fast and smooth and fluid, and suddenly it will switch to having a low frame rate.
A good example of this is in iPhoto's Full-Screen Edit mode. As you tap through the image with the right/left arrows, the animation can be quite jerky and slow. Then suddenly it will switch to being really fast.
Have Apple just not optimised the NVIDIA 9400M graphics drivers yet? Will its performance be better in the near future? "
    sam problem, except it's on a 24" iMac . (latest one - 2 X 2.66 ghz + 4go RAM + 9400m)
the problem happens constantly when i use my firewire soundcard. guess what : i'm a musician, and my firewire soundcard is on all the time !
it also happens when i copy files from my external firewire hard disk, or if i use my macbook on target mode.
the only way to make this problem disappear is to switch to 1280 X 960 resolution (or below). therefore the 9400M has enough power to overcome the drain created by ... either bad drivers or a problem with firewire... i don't know.
anyone knows when the drivers will be updated ? if a new firmware is in the work ?
    thanks

i guess not so many people use the firewire 800 port.
had to pay 15 euros to get a 800>400 cable, so no wonder ...
    here's my bug report
    hello
    here's my setup :
    iMac 2.66 ghz / 4 gigs of RAM / 640 go HD / Nvidia 9400M graphic chip
    Leopard 10.5.7
when any firewire device is in use, the frame rate switches from fast / fluid to slow / lag-ish.
simply launching Dashboard shows the frame rate drop. same problem with Expose.
the problem happens exactly the same weither i use my firewire soundcard (echo audiofire 8), my external hard drive (WD mybook 750 go) or my macbook in target mode.
the problem disappears when i turn off my soundcard, or when the external hard drive is idle. another way to "fix" the problem is switching to a lower resolution ( 1280 X 960 ).
i've spent more than 30 minutes with apple on the phone, we did a lot of tests, and the technician came to the conclusion the computer was perfectly working.
this definitely looks like a driver problem.
i've started a discussion about the matter here :

some users have the same problem :

  • MSI Geforce 4 ti 4200 8x 128mb problems

I have recently purchased a 128mb 8x GeForce 4 ti 4200 video card, and i am having great dificulty geting it to work properly. Here are my computer specs:
Motherboard: Abit KA7-100 (latest bios update installed)
    CPU        : Athlon Slot A 800Mhz
    Ram        : Crucial 512mb PC133
OS         : Windows XP Pro / Windows 2000 Pro (latest updates installed)
    DirectX    : 9
    Harddrives : 1 Segate SATA 120 GB
                 1 Western Digital 8mb cache 120GB
1 Western Digital 27GB ata 66 (boot drive)
                 2 Western Digital 40GB ata 100 drives
Here is my problem: I can install the drivers for the card just fine, but whenever i try to play a movie (avi, mpeg), 3d game (or any game that uses the 3D part of the card, my computer freezes. I've installed several different versions of nvidia drivers for the card on my computer, but the outcome is always the same. The 2D usage of the card works just fine, but whenever a 3D program/game tries to use the video card, the computer locks up. I have noticed this effect when I bought a GeForce FX card as well. My previos Vid card was a Visiontek GeForce 3 TI 200 which runs very well no matter what I use it for (and after the abuse i put it through too...  XD ).  I have tried about 5 different drivers for the ti 4200, and have had the same problems.
I'm currently going to upgrade my motherboard/cpu/ram next week, but I'm dumbfounded on why these newer cards do not work at all on my motherboard. If you can help me this would mean a lot to me.
My current mobo only goes up to agp 4x, but i hardly think that would cause the vid card to freeze whenever i try playing any 3d game.
Can someone help meh?   :D   thnx.

    Hi,
It's been posted a couple of times but since I don't see any success stories yet; here's my problem. I hope you guys can help me out. I have tried to specify the system as much as posible but let me know when more information is needed.
When I play 3D games (and sometimes when I leave my PC without screensaver or 'doing' something) my system locksup after a short time (sometimes after 10 seconds other times a few minutes)and the whole PC locksup, I can't even use ctrl+alt+del to get out. My PC is brand new.
Important! The problem does NOT excist as soon as I install a different videocard, being a a Radeon 9200. However I would like to use my MSI card as it's performance is better.
    Videocard: MSI MS-Starforce GeForce Ti4200 with GP8x (NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti4200 with AGP8x), driver version NVDIA 4.1.0.7, PCI-bus 1.
Motherboard: Asus P4C800 deluxe, Intel 875P Chipser, FSB 800MHz, Dual DDR 400.
    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2800
    RAM: 1024MB
    OS: Win XP Pro SP1
HD: Maxtor 6Y120M0 120 GB (3 partitions), driver (Microsoft) version 5.1.2535.0
    Soundcard: Blaster Audigy 2
Tried; updated & downgraded drivers for videocard, Scandisk, Defrag, installed all updates from Windows Update, updated drivers soundcard.

  • MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR (Direct3D problem)

I bought the MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR just today and I seem to be experiencing Direct3D issues.  I never have problems with general use of the video card, but when I try to play games that require 3D acceleration I get crashes (Blue screen of Death).  The reason why I think it is the Direct3D is because I only get problems when attempting to run 3D accelerated games, and I've downloaded a couple video test programs off of the net and they have crashed when testing 3D as well.  ?( I just ran dxdiag and it failed when I test Direct3D:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Questions:  Has anyone had this issue before and is it fixable without me returning the card for a different one?
    Thanks,
     Brent

Sorry about that, I should have put that in the first message.
I run Win 2000 server and I did a clean install (format drive) when I got the new video card. I have a Pentium 3, 800 Mhz 256 MBs RAM.  The motherboard is an AOpen AX3S with all Intel chips.
My previous video Card was an ATI Rage Fury 32 MB and it ran all my games with Direct3D, but usually with low frames per second.
The only thing I changed was the video card and the drivers of course.  I'm really trying to avoid sending the card back.  ;(  Any suggestion would be helpful..  Thank you!
    Brent
P.S.  I tried to run that 3D Mark program that people use to test their video cards and that failed before it finished, so my score must be 0.
