MSI K7T266Pro2 ver. 2.0 and Athlon XP 1700+ 0.13u

HI All
I own a mainboard MSI K7T266PRO2 Ver. 2.0
I was usign it with Duron 600@800, everythnig was great, but I decided to buy new proc. Athlon XP 1700+ in 0.13 technology. (I thought that after bios flashing it will work , but id doesn't  The processor is exactly Athlon XP 1700+ JIHUB 0308XPMW.
Please help me somehow, I really do want to use my new proc. :-) I flashed the bios with the following versions of bioses from Kunibert:
BIOS-K7T266pro2-v35-NO-raid.zip
BIOS-K7T266pro2-v36-Full-raid.zip
BIOS-K7T266pro2-v37-Full-raid.zip
K7T266pro2 mod XP2200+.exe
In his article he wrote that is sould work, I don't know maybe I'm doing something wrong, or I have to do something more to make it work, I read about removing capacitor but I thought that it's neede only for XP 2200+, right?
Could anybody help me? Is there anybody who had the same problem I solved it somehow?
One more time, please help me :-)

Well, I couldn't remember, that I wrote an article about throughbred core athlons on the k7t266pro2.
Biosdevelopment has been discontinued since version 3.6 by massive flamming and discredit and therefore no further versions will be available for any board.

  • I tried to update my home page with yahoo through a download with msi explorer ver. 8 and now Mozilla can't bring up a homepage. Did I download something wrong? I' m a novice.

I tried to download the free IE version 9 available with yahoo as my home page(because it's easier for me to use.) It said my computer won't except that version but will take the Micro soft version 8, so I downloaded it that way. Now the home page won't load because it read yahoo.com/http abd Mozilla doesn't recognize this as a proper site.. I deleted the file in my computer but still can't open my home page now.I think Mozilla already updated itself and now I see I need to renew my macafee security as well.

You're right about IE9: it requires Vista or Windows 7. IE8 is the latest IE for Windows XP.
Usually updating IE has no effect on Firefox, so I'm not sure what happened there. I assume you got an official download directly from Microsoft, but if not, perhaps it was customized by someone else? (I don't really trust unofficial versions.)
You should be able to reset your Firefox home page by visiting the full URL http://www.yahoo.com/ and then using the techniques listed in this article: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help].
    Any luck?

i have bought and msi KT333 raid motherboard and i tried to put and athlon 700 in it but when it tries to boot up is says that the processor runs at 933 and after that it freezes i can not even go into the biios
    what can it be

    Hi!
You are probably trying to run it with an FSB of 133 MHz, 700 MHz Athlons are supposed to work with a 100 MHz FSB.

  • MSI K7t266pro2 + 6800LE = *crash*

    Hi!.
I bought Gainward NVidia 6800LE a bit of time ago and am still having a bit of trouble with it. I tried everything else and I hope you can help me. I`ll be as precise as possible.
The other day I played Half-Life2: Counterstrike (for the first time), and *puff* my monitor goes to standby mode. I have to turn off - on my comp to make it work again (restart, hard or soft, doesn't work:( ). Same thing happens with Pirates, NWN and Port Royale 2. Other games (Morrowind, GTA, Warhammer: DOW, Civilisation3, Simcity4, etc.) run fine, actually quite good:) I'd be most satisfied with my purchase if it weren't for the chrashing thingy. After the monitor goes off, the game (any of those three) continues for 'bout 3-4secs, then goes down and the comp boots, doesn't start the windows (does a bit of extra peeping though:)) and generally doesn't budge. The monitor is 19''NEC/Mitshubishi, working proudly, and I doubt it is the cause of trouble. Res:1024*768 85Hz. Here is my list of "solutions" that didn't work...
    1) updating drivers, flashing bios - didn't do anything. Didn't flash graphic card's bios though, due to lack of info.
    2) bought a better power supply - didn't work, but I have a new cool black case:) 400W
    3) it doesn`t overheat - graphic card runs on about 56C, when heavy used goes up to 65C, right before crashing still retains its 56C. Proc is about 36C. I almost forgot, i ran 3Dmark05, gives 2800score and generally runs fine. Doesn't crash. At all. Never. Started it for 3 times in a row, and works fine. What's with Counterstrike, pirates, NWN, Port royale2, what do they have that 3dmark05 doesn't?
Anyway. The comp is Athlon XP1.6, runs on 1400MHz, 512MbDDR, *MSI K7T266Pro2.0*, and it worked quite fine with (shitty) MSI geforce2 440mx. The proc is well attached and doesn't overheat. Someone told me my mainboard is causing me trouble, that I should fiddle with voltages and stuff; anyway, brought my FSB to 100 and didn`t do anything. Oh, a better one, this is NEW!. My bios freezes when I enter hardware monitoring part. It shows all the voltages, cpu temp, it lacks surrounding text and I have to soft boot to do anything. Everything else works fine. What to do?? Please help...

I think it is blacksreen problem. Solution on the links...

  • Radeon 9000 VS. MSI 6309 (ver 2.0)?? Help

    Hi everybody
I have a BIG problem with my MSI MB and an ATI
    Radeon 9000 Pro.
This VGA card does not work properly with my hardware and WinXP: it shows white dots on the desktop and it is terrible slow.
My MSI motherboards seems to be an MSI 6309 v2.0
    (according to the MSI's Infoview).
I flashed my previous bios (1.x) with the new one
(3.7) but it still does not work
I found the bios version 7.3 working only with the
MSI's 6309 v 5.x. The faq told that bios resolve incompatibilities between Radeon and WinXP.
    What should I do?
Please Help Me!!! I do not want to change my wonderfull

  • MSI MS7125 VER. 3

I have an MSI MS7125 VER. 3.  I loved the board, key word loved.  I put the board in a new case new power supply, started, posted, loaded a new OS, perfect machine.  I replaced a power supply with a power supply I repaired, since then it will not post or anything.  It doesn't POST with the CPU in or out with or without RAM, there are no other peripherals attached to it.  As soon as I flip power onto the power supply it turns on, the fans spin and that is about it.  I ohm'd the leads on the power supply, where it should be getting +12 vdc it does not, its only at about 8 vdc or below.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm pretty sure the board is dead.  I do not see any blown capacitors or anything really shorted out.  Am I missing something?

You expect 8V to be sufficient for 12V circuitry ? Maybe you did not explain yourself properly ?

  • I have to report you about bugs in latest BIOS for MSI-6545 ver.1 (ver

I have to report you about bugs in latest BIOS for MSI-6545 ver.1 (version BIOS 1.7).
After flashig BIOS I cannot change parameters "Shutdown temperatures", "Spread spectrum" and some others !!!
When I try to do it, my computer hangs.
I have CPU PIV-2.4-400-512 with memory 512MB Samsung original PC-800 ECC
(By the way, there was no problems with BIOS 1.5 and CPU Intel PIV-1.6)
    [email protected]

I have also noticed that the bios write protect control is missing.
I don't know the reason why it's been removed but if you want to protect your bios you can set the jumper (J16) on your motherboard.
If the jumper (J16) is shorted (Little plastic thing conecting both pins together) then the bios flash is locked and can't be updated.
If the jumper (J16) is not shorted (Little plastic thing removed) then the bios flash is unlocked.
Also can anyone tell me if two gameports are listed in the Device Manager after clearing cmos using bios 1.7.
Bios 1.5 is ok apart from the fact that i can't upgrade my processor to 2.6GHz as it only supports up to 2.2GHz so if i upgrade processor i won't be able to clear cmos because of the problem with the gameports.
I have tried everything to get rid of one of the gameports but nothing seems to work apart from going back to bios 1.5 which is no good because i wan't to upgrade my processor.

  • MSI KT6V-LSR, (MS-7021) and WinXP after upgrade

I upgraded from K7T266 Pro 2 to MSI KT6V-LSR (VIA KT600) and Windows XP (Home edition) boot correctly, but after auto-loging they stop responding to me (I can move mouse+keyb), but the system is running (after 5 minutes screen saver starts). I see, that XP wants (P&P)to install new CPU (Athlon XP 2200+). Safe or debug mode does not help. Is it necessary to reinstal Windows ? Is there any chance to repair the system?
(When I gave there old CPU - Athlon 950, the system P&P halted on detecting CD-ROM).
Thanx for helping or giving me some link on the web.

So then this is not a fresh install of win xp on the KT6?
Also what is your full system spec's Please include Power supply AMP's

  • MSI 6337 (ver 3) i815EP Pro-R & Abit Siluro GF4 MX Pro

I have a MSI 6337 (ver 3) i815EP Pro-R mainboard and an Intel PIII @ 866 MHz CPU. I have installed a GeForce 4 MX 460 Video Card (Abit Siluro GF4 MX Pro) using the AGP slot. The problem is that the system has random booting problems, meaning that:
    - 1 out of 10 is booting correctly;
    - 4 out of 10 the image displayed is incorrect (the image has spots of colors, red rectangles (or green stripes) are displayed all over the screen, the writing is unrecognizable and in Windows (I tried 98 and XP) the video card is not recognized by the system.
    - 5 out of 10 the system is not booting at all.
I checked the available  BIOS update, but I don't think that this will solve the problem.
So, I need some help, folks !
    System configuration:
    VGA card:         Abit Siluro GF4 MX Pro;
    Motherboard:     MSI 6337 (ver 3) i815EP Pro-R;
    Monitor:            Sampo Alphascan 520;
    Operating System: Windows XP Pro;
    CPU:                Intel PIII @ 866 MHz;
HDD:                IDE1 Quantum Fireball LM 15 GB
                            IDE2 Seagate 2.1 GB
    CD-ROM:          IDE1 TEAC RW 40/12/48
                            IDE2  Creative 52x
    System Memory: 256 MB SDRAM

     Problem solved!
    Hi everybody!
I finally found out that the cause of the problem is the PCI Genius Sound Maker Live that I had installed in slot 5. Removing this board solves the problem, the system is booting and restaring normally.
Installing the sound board in slot 6 (nearest to the AGP): worse results.
Installing the sound board in slot 1 (furthest to the AGP): best results, boot OK but the system is still not booting when restarting from Windows.
Now I am using the onboard sound and have no problem. Any idea how can I make the sound card work with the video card?
    My PSU has 235W.
    Thanks
P.S. I also updated the BIOS. It is not as difficult as I thought.

  • MSI-6315 ver 1 only reading half of each stick of RAM

I have two identical sticks of 256mb PC133 ram and each shows up as only 128mb when used in MSI-6315 ver 1 motherboard. I have the latest BIOS (ver 1.3) for this revision as far as I know. I've tried both sticks together as well as 1 at a time in each of the two slots. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I found out that exact thing while looking up the specs on the memory. The chips worked fine on a VIA chipset mb, but the Intel chipset is just too picky. Thanks for the reply.

  • MSI 7597 ver 1.2

    Hi:
I have a MSI 7597 ver 1.2 MB. I need to buy RAM and is necessary to know what is compatible.
    Thanks a lot.

Here's the list from MSI of tested RAM if indeed the MB is GF615M-P33:   http://www.msi.com/product/mb/GF615M-P33.html#/?div=Overview

How many GB RAM do you intend to use? What CPU will you be using?

  • Incompatibility: MSI 6337 (ver 3) i815EP Pro-R & Abit Siluro GF4 MX Pr

I have a MSI 6337 (ver 3) i815EP Pro-R mainboard and an Intel PIII @ 866 MHz CPU. I have tried to install a GeForce 4 MX 460 Video Card (Abit Siluro GF4 MX Pro) using the AGP slot.

The video card vendor suggested that the only solution is a motherboard+CPU upgrade. Any other suggestion?

I think you may need a Bios update for the MoBo. There are three updates there for you.  That or buy a new board :( (Still I bet you want to get the most out of the board before this)
Could try lowering Bios settings.  Aparature size, fastwrites off, even FSB (if above norm), ram cas3 etc
As I have no experience with MSI boards somebody else may have a better answer on the other forum for retired PIII.
As for the PSU.  That would have to be the bare min.
Have you tried with all main hardware unplugged(cd's, NIC etc, usb).  Again, someone on the other forum would help you out with this.
For the video in have you installed the WDM drivers.
    Good luck

  • MSI-6368 ver 2.1 very poor memory performance

Hi i recently recapped a very old MS-6368 mainboard after which it came up. Previously it used to freeze just before loading OS. The complete system specs are as follows:
    P3 8.5C @ FSB 100 = 850 MHz
    2 Sticks of PC133 SDRAM (Kingston 512MB & Non-branded 256 MB)
    MSI 6368 ver 2.1
    Onboard Trident Graphics
    Cooler Master 350W
    Seagate 20GB HDD (ST320413A), UATA-5
BIOS - optimal settings, Memory Clock - HOSTCLK+33MHz(133 MHz)
    WinXP SP3.
I'm getting a memory transfer rate of just 97 MB/s in Memtest and in AIDA (memory read, write, copy & latency as 150MB/s, 306MB/s, 189 MB/s, 220.7ns).  I have installed latest drivers (VIA 4 in 1) and still no improvement in memory throughput. Memory timing has been set by SPD.
    a) One thing i have observed is "In order Queue Depth value" is 1. Is it normal?
    b) I'm planning to use memory interleave enabler for this VIA chipset.
I will be grateful if someone who had this mainboard earlier can share the BIOS settings.

hi, i'm trying to install a pci graphics card(Zotac GT520 conventional PCI) into this old system to play some classic games. It is not getting selected as the primary display device by BIOS during boot though "Init Display" is set to PCI. So i have to boot into dos and by tweaking PCI configuration registers of the graphics card, i'm able to get it to work under windows.
But the performance is really poor probably due to incomplete manual tweaking. I was just assigning BAR's to the discrete card. System information utilities report onboard's video BIOS and not that of the discrete card. I guess the problem may be due to incompatibility in pci versions. Motherboard supports old pci spec 2.1 or 2.2 and the new graphics card may be complying to version 3.0. Further the graphics card is not an actual PCI card. It is a PCI-Express card with a PCI to PCI-E reversible bridge. However the specification states that the PCI-E should be compatible with PCI at software level.
Has anyone in this forum had a working system with MS-6368 mainboard with PCI graphics card? If so, did a normal pci graphics card(not the reversible bridge type as mentioned above) become the primary display device during boot?
    thanks,
    gandhi.

  • K7T Turbo2 and Athlon XP 2600 / 333 BIOS settings ?

    Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with this combo ?
    I've tried to install the processor but I can't achieve 2600 Mhz...only 1600 Mhz !
    Any ideas ?
    ---> MSI K7T Turbo2 (latest BIOS)
---> AMD Athlon XP 2600+ FSB 333 BOX
Jumper J17 (i think) is out.
    Thanks,
    m@ndr@ke

Unfortunately Bogdan2003 is right, your board only supports a 266MHz FSB.  The XP 2600 doesn't run at 2600MHz, it comes in two flavours one runs at 2083MHz which is the 333FSB version and one at 2133MHz which is the 266FSB version, the later being the one your board will support.
