MSI RX3870-T2D512E-OC v803 bios

hey guys i was wondering if anyone can help me find a bios for my msi 3870-OC v803.  the reason that i am looking for this is b/c i am not satisfied with the standard bios that was released with this card.  The temps of this card are too high IMO.  I have 2 of these cards on is the v120 which has a great fan control setup and i would like one for the v803 that is similar.
the v120 has a fan table in bios that looks like this::
Threshold temp | 0 | 50 | 70 | 80 | 85 | 90 | 95 | 100 |
Fan speed        |52| 70| 80 | 100| 100|100 |100| 100 |
but the v803 has a fan table of::
threshold temp | 60 | 65 | 70 | 75 | 80 | 85 | 90 | 98 |
fan speed        | 30 | 41 | 50 | 61 | 70 | 81 | 90 | 100|
so with that being said i am wondering if there has been a bios made for the v803 with a similar table and based on the .073 bios instead of the .067 bios.  the difference in temps is huge  v120 runs 33c idle and ~45c load but the v803 runs 45c idle and ~65c-70c load.  now i know that they are well within the safe range as far as temp goes but it is my experience that the cooler something runs the longer it lasts.  I also know that the v120 is MSI's card design and the v803 is ATi's design but they use the same fan and H/S setup so one would think that they would cool the same if the fans are set the same. I have tried editing the v803 bios with RBE 109 and it doesnt seem to be accepting the new table.  so what it all boils down to is that i want to know if there is a v803 bios that have a better fan table to it.  any ideas would be great.  thank you, Von

the other option is save the bios of the v120 and apply it to the other card, if the 2 cards are based on the reference model by ATI i don't think that causes any problem at all.
You should not.... I've ever tried, but as it is not really same cards, it does not work well.
I'll test your solution with RivaTuner.
The best would be that MSI really work on VGA BIOS.... and have the possibility to download it directly as we do for motherboard, without using Live Update.
I had bad experience in the past with MSI products (several motherboard chipsets burned, capacitors, stability... without overclocking) and it's confirmed again.

Do it with software or RMA the VGA if its proved that's VGA fault.

  • MSI RX3870-T2D512E-OC Problem

    Hi to all,
I have a MSI 3870 OC edition, liquid cooled.
I tried to overclock the card saving the bios, changing clock values from RBE, flash the bios with winflash.
I done a backup of the original bios before start.
I flashed the modified bios, everything went ok, restart windows, everything ok...
after a while the system begin to crash randomly with the freeze of the mouse cursor...
so i flashed back my original bios, everything went ok, restart windows, blank monitor as soon as the windows desktop were supposed to show.
format windows, tried Xp, Xp64 and Vista64. ALWAYS VGA SAFE CARD.
installing driver with no errors, but with a "problem" in device manager.
I tried to flash every MSI 3870 bios in the techpowerup vga bios collection, but nothing went ok, always the same thing T_T
    can you help me please?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english,
    Drowne
PS. I have the white text "MSI" on the sticker of the VGA cooler, so i suppose to have the v 120 and not the 800 one...

    Hi drowne !
you can try my BIOS, with personal pages on overclockers.ru:

    there need to choose

This native RX3870-T2D512E-OC\D4 (v.120) BIOS (by clocks), but I edited it turns the turbine.

  • RX3870-T2D512E-OC fanspeed bios

The original BIOS puts fan speed at 80% continues.
This version will adjust it to 52%, but when the card gets more hot during gaming it will adjust the fanspeed better.
Only for the  MSI V120 OC versie. Not ATI reference cards!
    Atiflash –0 –p tv120ms.102
(This information was given to me by MSI, I'm only a messenger)

How do I flash the bios?
I downloaded that Atiflash program and the bios but when I run the program it just comes up with a command prompt with a list of commands or something but it it says press any key to continue and when I press any key it cycles through some more commands and then closes.
Is there a readme or something for this tool?
If you don't know what you're doing I would highly advise you don't do it. You need to run atiflash via command prompt with switches.
    Here's a little how to:
Extract both .zip files to say C:\ATI, make sure the BIOS file "tv120ms.102" is in there along with the flash utility.
Open command prompt, via run. Type "cmd" in run, a new window will pop up.
You need to flash from pure DOS (I thought it was ATI winflash).
    Type: cd
Then: cd "ATI" (without speeches, and/or whatever you called the directory).
Type atiflash –0 –p tv120ms.102 (spaces are required!) and let it complete the flashing process. If it fails, DO NOT RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. Try again...

  • RX3870-T2D512E-OC v102 and v803

    Hi,
    I've got a pair of RX3870-T2D512E-OC, one is a v803, the ohter is v120
    - On the v803, I have to edit the BIOS with "Radeon BIOS Editor" (http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1016/TechPowerUp_Radeon_Bios_Editor_v1.08.html)
and change the threshold from 73°C to 35°C , because temperature increase up to 80°C (without over clocking)
Results : going back to original BIOS because it's not stable (crash / black screen => reset)
Card still very hot : waiting for fireman
    - On the v120, I flashed the bios with this one (TV120MS.zip) :
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=114637.0
Reason : the fan allways at 80% like a vacuum cleaner : after flasing it's OK.
I bought this cards not at the same time, but when I saw the price decrease, I bought a second one to make crossfire.
But no chance : I run VISTA, the crossfire is detected, but NOT working : I have same performance with one or two cards with windows indice (maybe it is wrong ?), and bridge is connected, dual VGA activated in the motherboard BIOS.
I have patch with SP1, trying to patch with Microsoft SLI and CrossFire HotFIX (KB936710), but still not working.... no difference.
I will test in the next days with Windows XP, to see if the problem comes from VISTA.
Be carreful with bios flasing..... v120 and v803 are NOT the same card and BIOS are different : allways make backup before.
    Tool for flashing :
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/855/ATIFlash_3.49.html
    Make a bootable floppy disk (without autoexec.bat / config.sys)
Get info about VGA cards : "atiflash -ai"           -> give the <adapater number> if you have more than one VGA card
    Save BIOS : "atiflash -s <adaptater number> <file name>"
    Flash BIOS : "atiflash -f -p <adaptater number> <BIOS file>"          ex:  "atiflash -f -p 1 TV120MS.102"
    ...at your own risks...

You must know that I have 2 RX3870-T2D512E-OC but different version...."
Yes i've noticed that, but they still have to use the same driver. It can happend that catalyst update driver for the one of the cards only.
"I will try to manually force install of the same driver. I'll give you the result."
    Yes
    Results :
I decided to patch catalys 8.3 as BOSSKILLER said :
    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=33033
During the patch install, juste before continuing with Control Center install, I forced driver "Radeon HD 3870" (driver v8.471.1.1000) instead of "Radeon HD 3800 series" which is automaticaly installed by catalyst for one VGA card : now drivers are the same for both cards.
But allways one card in catalyst.
I tried to shutdown tne PC and change the monitor plug to the 2nd VGA card : The VGA n°2 appears in catalyst (replace the n° 1).
So the card present in catayst list depends on the VGA pluged to the monitor.
Confirmation : when a 2nd monitor is pluged (both cards are connected to a monitor), and Windows desktop is extended to the 2nd monitor, then two cards are present in catalyst.
Crossfire could work, but I think that the bottleneck is my motherboard (when dual card => PCI-e at 2x 8X due to chipset limitation).
Now "Crysis Demo SP" in 1280x1024 (high) without AA is correct.
For people who want to look into 3870 bios settings, TechPowerUp has released the "Radeon Bios Editor v1.09"
When editing your bios, you can see how fan and thermal regulation works.
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1026/TechPowerUp_Radeon_Bios_Editor_v1.09.html
Then, you can verify that regulation isn't the same for v120 and v803
    As a result :
v803 is more stable with original BIOS (modify = hang)
I've flashed it with this bios revision from ATI (VER010.075.000.002.000000) and it's in test now :
    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/7131/ATI.HD3870.512.071226_1.html
    v120 works well with "tv120ms.102"
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=114637.0
And allways SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL BIOS BEFORE !
I am very careful about overclocking, and I prefer stable system.

  • HD 3870 BIOS REQUEST - RX3870-T2D512E-OC

Hi, i recently bought this MSI Video card HD3870 OC: 800MHZ GPU 1226MHZ RAM (RX3870-T2D512E-OC).
The problem is that it comes with ATI Bios Rev01: 10.67 which is buggy.
I would like to have the ATI Bios Rev02: 10.71 for my video card model.
Is it possible to make the bios and post it?
Ps: We can find a lot of HD3870 Rev02 bios for most of manufacturers but the problem is that they don't have the right clocks.
And as far as i know there is not a proper bios utility working for the moment.
I would be grateful to msi if they can make this bios.
    Best regards.

We can't tell you. This is a user to user forum.
    How to contact MSI.
Well you can close the topic if you want to, i have almost solved everthing concerning my videocard.
I have replied to wht1986 concerning is fan problem, we all have the same bad cooling system.
I changed the cooling solution for a Zalman VF1000 (kept genuine rams rads), and put gecube bios (faster and less bugs v 10.73 instead of v 10.67 for msi card).
Thanks for your help on the forum but really disappointed by msi.
I asked them for a new bios.. and the replies were astonishing..
They didn't want to send me a bios, they asked me to use their program live update, a crap which does not work on vista 64 bit.
So ask a friend with xp sp2.
In fact, i think they don't have the new bios for the moment.
Ps: I still have artefacts sometimes playing Test Drive Unlimited, maybe it's a game bug.
Playing with NFS Pro Street no problems at all.
And the card runs faster, with no noise and really low temps!

  • RX3870-T2D512E OC Memory Speed - What's Up?

    Hello..
I have the RX3870-T2D512E OC MSI 626 913 0828 and the advertised clock speed is 2250 but the ATI OC tool as with Rivatuner say it is 1150 (I think).  The slider for memory speed slider on both tools don't even go up to 2000, so what is up?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing wrong, you are looking real clock speed, while the effective clock speed is double.
"The slider for memory speed slider on both tools don't even go up to 2000, so what is up?"
Don't do such experiment you can permanently damage the VGA.
1150MHz real memory clock speed = 2300 effective clock speed

  • MSI NX8800GTS-T2D512E-OC 675 clock and not 730

    Hello,
I've buy an nvidia MSI NX8800GTS-T2D512E-OC.
MSI live bios update tell me that there is no update available. It's 62.92.25.00.04.
with gpuz or rivatuner i see 678/1728/972 and not 730/1825/1944
I'm lost, why two bios edition with two frequency edition ?
see here there is two bios with two different clock settings:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/5730/MSI.8800GTS.512.080104.html
    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/6673/MSI.8800GTS.512.080104_1.html
My second question concern Fan speed that is always at 37-38% and with this my gpu become hot. I use riva tuner to put fan speed to 50%.
is there a bios with auto fan speed increase more than 37-38% ?
    thanks

    first point;
Unfortunately there are 2 versions of this VGA card so you will get either the 730 or the 678 version
You could flash your card with the 730 bios with the program called Nvflash, but that is risky
I wished MSI would make a bios installer file to give you the option to flash it to 730Mhz again, but Nvidia has forbit the manufacturers to sell overclocked 8800 GTS 512mb cards since some time.
    second point;
Regarding your fan speed, you could run the ATI Tool "scan for artifacts" test and GPU-Z to show your fan speed because the fan should spin up to 43-45% when it's getting hotter than 80-85c.

I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. However, in the cell menu I can't access the CPU voltage areas I hit enter but nothing happens. It tells me Grey is defualt, White is stable and red is the obvious not recommended setting, but again I can't access it.  Is there something I need to disable before I mess with the voltages?
I know that doing any of this could fry the chip I have liquid cooling pretty much this idles at 28 deg Celcuis, that is with it over clocked so I know I have som room and know I should only up the vltage slightly. I just need to know how to do it.
I also wanted to adjust the FSB from the current 200 to 270 which I was told is possible with this board and also that is where it should run stable. Again I just need to know how to access these things in the Bios. If its a bios issue I can update to the next one,1.9, but did not see the need to do so. Anyways any help is greatly appreciated. • Kingmax Hardcore DDR500 with MSI MS K8N Neo Platinum (Bios Version 1.40)

    I am interested in Kingmax Hardcore DDR500 (PC4000) 512MB DDR-SDRAM. Currently, I’m using MSI MS K8N Neo Platinum (Bios Version 1.40) with AMD 64bit 2800+ & MSI MS 8907 FX5200-TD128 AGP Card.
Please advice whether the Kingmax Hardcore DDR500 (PC4000) 512MB DDR-SDRAM compatible with my systems.

The "safe mode" that the BIOS message refers to is not related to Windows' Safe Mode. The BIOS safe mode lets you un-do any overclocking or memory settings that might make your computer so unstable that you can't even get into the BIOS settings to change them. In that case, you hold insert while powering on to reset the BIOS to default safe values.
As for your problem getting into Windows' Safe Mode. If you upgraded from another motherboard that uses a different chipset, or if you somehow got the wrong chipset drivers installed, then the old AGP GART or chipset drivers will cause the system to halt/reboot very early in the Windows boot process even in safe mode. I've run into this problem before and its tricky. Best thing to do is switch back to the old motherboard, then go into safe mode and remove all chipset-related drivers, and then switch back to the new motherboard. If you can't do that, try running system repair from the windows setup CD. And failing that, you'd probably have to fully re-install the OS.

I dunno whats wrong I updated my video card driver, Checked the connection and even cleaned my Video card.  But still after a few minutes of playing the game my Graphics gets messed up. I was unable to take a screenshot since i cant open the paint coz i cant read anything on my screen so I used my cam phone to take pictures of it. Here's what it looks like.
This only happened a few weeks ago. dunno if my video card is messed up or anything. But if I ain't playing any games this don't happen.  Need help guys

A PC system with that video card should have a PSU with +12V~28A and yours is only +12V~15A, nearly 1/2 what you should have and very poor 12 volt amps for a 475W PSU. Even a Corsair CX400W has +12V~30A. Test with a much better PSU with at least 28 amps on the +12V rail.
     I would suggest that you buy a Corsair VX450W (+12V~33A) or VX550W (+12V~41A)
Whew so I guess my video card is not busted or anything I just have to upgrade the PSU then.. Again I dunno really how to check those Volts and Amps also I don't think we have Corsair PSU here in our country (Philippines)  but would this one do ??
