MSO 2010 Application deployment hangs if detection method for presence of deployment is specified

SCCM 2012 R2 is configured to deploy MSO 2010 to our systems, even the ones that already have it deployed. Regular deployment does not re-install MSO 2010 because it detects it already installed on a system, so I added "Detection Method" and configured
it to look for a file "mso_installed.txt" in C:\WINDOWS. A custom MS Office package was created to place this file into C:\WINDOWS during the setup as part of App deployment.
The logic is: if the app deployment does NOT find this file in C:\windows, it will force MSO reinstall. Introducing this method appears to hang the setup. I can see that deployment shows up in Software Center, content is downloaded, status changes to "installing"
and then nothing happens. Setup32.exe process appears to sit doing nothing - no change in CPU or MEM utilization. Eventually, the status changes to "Past due - will be installed".
We currently have a deployment that works, but doesn't have the detection method logic above. What could be causing this deployment not to work and if my method above is not ideal, what are my options for forcing re-install of the app, even if already present
on the system?

  • Detection Methods for Microsoft Office

    Hi Guys
    It seems the most common detection method for deploying Microsoft Office (in particular for me Office 365 pro plus) is the existence of 'Office15' in %program files%\Microsoft Office 15\
    However my concern is that what if some other Office 2013 product has created this folder?
    Has anyone used a differnet detection method other than the existence of the folders?
    thanks for your help!

    That is the best way...
    If the condition of Office 2013 components already being installed is met (Folder location exists) just use a custom .msp (instead of the setup.exe with custom.msp) adminfile to alter their installation and enable the components they are required
    to have.
    Office 365 Pro Plus does not use MSPs the way Office 2013 does so this isn't really applicable -- in fact, it installs Office in a completely different way than Office 2013 does so can't be detected the same way. The registry value noted is the best path
    IMO.

  • Exception in Payment Proposal - Pmnt methods for this run are not specified

    Dear all,
    I want to ask if it is possible to run a payment proposal for AP transactions together with AR. The AR line items are used for clearing. Actually, this is the first time we execute proposal run which contains AP and AR respectively. And during the proposal, AR line item is an exception - 'Pmnt methods for this run are not specified in the master record or in item'. We already checked the master record, and there is a payment method. However, it was not captured during the payment proposal. Does it have something to do with the Document Type?
    Thank you once again for all your usual support.
    Regards,
    April

    To: Karthik, pushkaraj, JeCcas_DJ
    Thank you very much for your responses.
    I've checked already FBZP and Customer Master Record, payment methods were defined. Also, during the payment run, all line items have the same payment method, but only the AR transaction was not accepted.
    I think the problem is the same as what pushkaraj mentioned. We have payment method 'D' defined only for outgoing payments and not for incoming payments. I guess that is the problem.
    By the way, can I create another entry 'D' for payment method-incoming payments? Would there be conflict if I assigned same ID?
    Regards and thank you once again...

  • Detection method for first time a Node is rendered

    Hello,
    I need to lazily perform some computation until after a particular Node is shown to the User. So if the app has multiple tabs, the goal is to not do work for a tab that hasn't even been switched to yet.
    I figured the VisibleProperty of Node would help but it's not acting as I'd expect.
    final BorderPane tab1 = BorderPaneBuilder.create().build();
    setOnFirstShown(tab1, new Runnable() {
      @Override
      public void run()
        _log.info("Show 1");
        tab1.setCenter(new Text("1"));
    final BorderPane tab2 = BorderPaneBuilder.create().build();
    setOnFirstShown(tab2, new Runnable() {
      @Override
      public void run()
        _log.info("Show 2");
        tab2.setCenter(new Text("2"));
    tabs.getTabs().addAll(
      TabBuilder.create().text("One").content(tab1).build(),
      TabBuilder.create().text("Two").content(tab2).build());Here is the listener:
    public static void setOnFirstShown( final Node node, final Runnable response )
      class Changer implements ChangeListener<Boolean>
        @Override
        public void changed( ObservableValue<? extends Boolean> obsVal, Boolean oldVal, Boolean newVal )
          _log.debug("Changed: " + newVal);
          if( newVal.booleanValue() )
            /** remove the listener b/c it's only used once */
            node.visibleProperty().removeListener( this );
            _log.debug( "Responding to first show for: " + node );
            try
              response.run();
            catch( Exception e )
              _log.error( "Failed to run response:" + response, e );
      node.visibleProperty().addListener(new Changer());
    }So each tab should replace its content with a Text when it becomes visible. However in actuality it works like this:
    1. Scene launches, nothing displayed in the first tab. The visibility flag is set to false but not to true
    2. Click on the second tab and its content correctly gets a change (to true) in visibility and the Text node appears
    3. Click back on the first tab and now it gets visible set to true and shows the Text node
    So it seems like for what is initially shown, the Nodes' visible flag is not properly set.
    Does anyone have any insight or a better way to delay reaction until a given Node is actually visible to the User?

    The visible property of a Node doesn't quite do what you think. From the javadocs:
    Specifies whether this Node and any subnodes should be rendered as part of the scene graph. A node may be visible and yet not be shown in the rendered scene if, for instance, it is off the screen or obscured by another Node.
    The default value of the visible property is true.
    So, your first tab content originally has visibility set to true. You add it as the content of the first tab, and it remains true. Since it never changes, your ChangeListener is never invoked.
    The second tab's content also originally has visibility set to true. When you add it as the second tab, it's visibility becomes false to indicate it should not be rendered. When it is selected, the visibility of the first tab content changes to false and the visibility of the second tab content changes to true, invoking the listeners.
    This example may help:
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.beans.value.ChangeListener;
    import javafx.beans.value.ObservableValue;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.control.Tab;
    import javafx.scene.control.TabPane;
    import javafx.scene.layout.BorderPane;
    import javafx.scene.text.Text;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    public class TabListenerTest extends Application {
      @Override
      public void start(Stage primaryStage) throws Exception {
        BorderPane root = new BorderPane();
        TabPane tabs = new TabPane();
        Tab tab1 = new Tab("Tab 1");
        Text text1 = new Text("This is tab 1");
        Tab tab2 = new Tab("Tab 2");
        Text text2 = new Text("This is tab 2");
        class VisibilityChangeListener implements ChangeListener<Boolean> {
          String content;
          VisibilityChangeListener(String content) {
            this.content = content ;
          @Override
          public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends Boolean> observable,
              Boolean oldValue, Boolean newValue) {
            System.out.println("Visibilty of "+content+" changed from "+oldValue+ " to "+newValue);
        text1.visibleProperty().addListener(new VisibilityChangeListener("Tab 1"));
        text2.visibleProperty().addListener(new VisibilityChangeListener("Tab 2"));
        tab1.setContent(text1);
        tab2.setContent(text2);
        tabs.getTabs().addAll(tab1, tab2);
        root.setCenter(tabs);
        Scene scene = new Scene(root, 400, 200);
        primaryStage.setScene(scene);
        primaryStage.sizeToScene();
        primaryStage.show();
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        launch(args);
    }

    So your application isn't detected after the installation, what are you deploying and what's your detection method for the application? Is the app installed on the target machine?

  • Detection method - file NOT exist?

    I have a need to remove the Outlook feature from Office 2013 if it is present on certain machines. I create my MSP to remove Outlook and run msiexec /p removeoutlook.msp and it works great.
    My problem is that the detection method for applications is the opposite of what I need. If the Outlook.exe file is NOT present, then it is installed.
    I'm sure there must be a way to do this via the custom detection script but I am a scripting noob.

    You can create a 'dummy' application "Outlook 2013", configure it as follows:
    Leave install command blank
    Configure uninstall command to use your detection method (outlook.exe exists)
    Deploy the Uninstall to the collection where you want to remove the outlook
    Or you could use simple package/program to just remove the outlook by running your uninstallation command. Or you could configure your Office 2013 with OCT (Office Customization Tool by running setup.exe /admin) to remove Outlook from your Office 2013 installation
    for future deployments.

  • Detection method - date modified-greater than issue

    Hi,
    My detection method for a file doesn't seem to be working properly. I have an application advertised to run a .cmd file and replace files in an already existing folder. So I am using the date modified of the files I am replacing. When I check the status
    of the deployment it states that the machines are already compliant even though the date modified on the file is less than the new file I am trying to deploy.
    Example:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\Test\test.cms (date modified 9/14/2014)
    My detection rule:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\Test\test.cms (Date Modified must be greater than 01.01.2015 00:00:00)
    And it is stating that it is compliant even though the detection rule should be returning false?

    Date format is seems to be correct, basically it depend on your local date format.
    Are you sure that file is exist on the client at expected location. (If file does not exist and existential rule is not added in CI then CI will return to Compliant) If not then make sure that:
    you have added existential rule in addition with value rule.
    otherwise make sure that you have selected this checkbox "Report noncompliance if this setting instance is not found."

  • Need Help! Application Deployment wont work

    hi, i need help, currently having windows 2008r2 with sccm 2012r2.
    The deployment for application for some e.g. adobe reader, firefox is working.
    but when we try to deploy a application it is not installing. we tried manually run it from ccmcache with the same command line in the sccm and it works.
    The application is pushed to the cache folder. But it just wont get installed. Any1 can help? Really urgent need to solve this.
    Thanks
    I tried the parameter with setup.exe /s /f1xxx.iss
    tried with -s -fixxx.iss also same thing...
    but when i manually run the command it work....

    As Torsten mentioned, check AppEnforce.log from the %windir%\ccm\Logs -folder on the client that doesn't get the software installed.
    What are you using as your detection method for the application that fails? Have you tried using
    psexec -s cmd (included in the Sysinternals Suite, Google/Bing it) to open a command prompt with SYSTEM account and run the installation command from there? You should always test your application installation commands with SYSTEM account before implementing
    them to ConfigMgr, this way you'll make sure that the command works.

  • Audio Bin - Select unused - Delete - Hangs on 100% CPU for long time

    Hi
    I am running Logic Studio 9.0.2 on OS X 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro. Logic was upgraded from version 7.
    In Audio Bin and "Select Unused" and then "Delete", the application might hang on 100% CPU for hours on large projects.
    Anyone with an idea of what the problem might be? This was not a problem i Logic Pro 7.
    Thanks!
    GD

    I have this same problem, though I'm on 10.5.7. I was hoping maybe updating the OS would help but apparently not. I also get very slow file-selection windows sometimes, like when I go to bounce a file. Navigating to a specific folder is painfully slow. Would like to hear if any Snow Leopard users are experiencing this.

  • Error : FZ010 : Enter a payment method for incoming payments

    Hi,
    I am running F110 and paying intercompany vendors/customers.
    I am running payment run for Compony 0050 and paying my vendor VEND0060 and CUST0060.
    The balance of vend0060 is 2 million(credit) and  balance of CUST0060 is 1 million (Debit).
    So I am going in Reallocate and changing the bank details as getting exceptioin in CUST0060. But it gives out an error "Enter Payment method for incoming payments"
    We have just configured outgoing payment and actually as credit balance is more, it should not give this error.
    Does any one know solutin for this?
    Error in details:
    Enter a payment method for incoming payments
    Message no. FZ010
    Diagnosis
    The balance of the items to be paid requires a payment method for incoming payments. You specified a payment method that is defined for outgoing payments.
    System Response
    The payment method is rejected.
    Procedure
    Enter a payment method for incoming payments.
    Thanks
    JR

    In the master record of the customer/vendor, ensure that the appropriate payment methods are maintained.  If you click on F4 on the payment method field, you can see different methods available for Incoming Payments and different methods for Outgoing payments.
    Assign points accordingly.

  • Application Detection Method not being honored.

    We have a deployment of a patch for Lync 2010.  In the Detection Method we are using the path for communicator.exe and the version number.  We have a few systems testing Lync 2013.  The paths are completely different so we don't understand
    why these clients are getting prompted for installation of the update.
    The Detection Rule is a as follows:
    David Jenkins

    The path is there but no communicator.exe.  In 2013 it's part of MS Office so it's in the Office directories.
    I'd expect if communicator.exe doesn't exist in the directory it would mean the check fails and the patch would not advertise.
    I think you're getting tangled up with the logic at play here...
    If this detection rule is on your patch deployment, the logic is this:
    "if this path/file/version is not detected, then I must deploy this patch to this machine"
    So, on your machines that do have Lync2013, they will also *not* have the unpatched Lync2010 binary, therefore, it will attempt to deploy the patch.
    You could consider applying another detection rule (maybe *AND* Lync2013 is not present), or, flip your detection logic around, and instead, detect for the unpatched Lync2010 binary (i.e. if version is less than 4.0.7577.4409) ?

  • Detection Rule for Office 2010 SP2 deployment

    Hello Everyone,
    Could anyone please put me on the right track configuring a Office 2010 SP2 deployment?
    The Office 2010 SP2 is a EXE file and not a MSI and I am not sure witch Clause to use as detection method.
    Thank you

    Use the MSI guid that's found in the proplusww.msi, this file can be found from the Office installation files...

  • Deploying Lync 2013 client and SCCM Detection method

    So I am deploying the stand alone Lync 2013 client via SCCM 2012 R2, I have used OCT to create a .MSP, and I am trying to import it into SCCM.  However, I am curious as to what others are using for the Detection method?  Normally I would just
    use the MSI code, but since there is no single MSI, that is not possible with this particular version?  I'm not sure what the best method would be, Option 1 is to find a registry key that is installed by Lync, or Option 2, use a file, maybe Lync.exe under
    the Program Files?

    From the testing I've done Lync creates this reg location...
    HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Office>15.0>Lync
    Try using one of the keys in there, or you could use the file version but not sure if this would change with updates.

  • How to use property Upgrade Code in detection method "Windows Installer"?

    Hi
    I am a packaging specialists helping our deployment guys to add our software (100rds of installers) as application entries in SCCM 2012. The methods supplied by SCCM seem however quite generic and limited.
    The detection method "Windows Installer" is hardcoded to use the Product Code, why?
    Normal detection of Windows Installer packages are done using the Upgrade Code and the Product Version. Is it possible for us our self to add/reconfigure to use that method or are we forced to use the custom detection method?(both those methods should be provided
    by SCCM to better match Windows Installer architecture)
    Ps. It says in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632336.aspx for Version that "This
    must be in the standard Windows Installer four-part version number format.", but the version number is 255.255.65535 (which is real stupid) as described by http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370859(v=vs.85).aspx. Ds.

    Under LV 7.1 with DSC installed I get the same error code (-2147418113) but "explain error" gives me this.
    "LabVIEW DSC:  (Hex 0x8000FFFF) Catastrophic failure."
    This prompts the question is it possible to set an activeX object running in a container for Full Screen.
    This is probably a Q for MS.
    If it look like it is possible, try to get a VB example and that will tell us what we have to do to make this work.
