MSS KEY_FIGURE_MONITOR

Hi,
I have implemented ESS & MSS. Our systems are
ECC 6.0
EP 7 SP 15
ESS & MSS 1.0
XSS 600 SP 6
BP for Common Parts
I have full authorization for the user in both ECC and Portal system and most of the performed post installation MSS configuration.
The Key Figure Generator iview under MSS -> Work Overview is throwing error. The exact error is show below.

I have checked and the iview is present in Portal Content. I have not changed any path.
Any suggestion what might be the problem and how to resolve it? Do I need to configure anything extra for this iview.

Check the backend if it is working
You can test the display function of the application. Report RPTARQUIATEST (Test
Report for the UIA Interface for Leave Requests) enables you to do this.

does the user 'SAPUSER' has assigned roles which has permission for system 'SAP_ECC_Financials'.

Hi,
I think the Key Figure Monitor does use the system alias SAP_ECC_Financial for the system lookup. Did you maintain all the relevant data for this system?
Maybe this iVIew is currently pointing to the wrong system.

MSS 1.0 sp13 Keyfigure Monitor

I have deployed the MSS 1.0 sp13 . when i execute the keyfigure monitor which is component developed in webdynpro for ABAP . When i am executing this application i am getting an error .
Error Details
The exception 'CX_FQDN' was raised, but it was not caught anywhere along
the call hierarchy.
Since exceptions represent error situations and this error was not
adequately responded to, the running ABAP program
'CX_FQDN=======================CP' has to be
terminated.
Any one has any clues on this exception .
the application name is : key_figure_monitor

i noticed one thing that just i created a test iview for ABAPwebdynpro by using one flight component in /bc/webdynpeo/sap /.
this also not working .
i have given Name sapce as : SAP
and the applicationname : as the component name .
basically this should work know .
Regarding the actual problem in MSS iview
when the abapwebdynpro iview is called its giving pagecannot be displayed ie the service it self is not called
i am getting the link like this

Issue with ESS/MSS Business package 1.41

I had an issue with ESS/MSS recently we deployed Business package 1.41 it contains HCM Forms and Process also,
and we assigned the standard Manager-self-service role & Employee-self-service-role to test user but when the user is trying to access the standard application he is getting Portal runtime error.
   Is there any configuration is need from HRFunctional side and Basis side

MSS organisation structure

Hi
In MSS, I am unable to view the organisational strucutre. My OM structure is in place but the same is not getting reflected in MSS.
Does this require Portal config or back end config

Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
CLEAR statement.
to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:

How to find out the list of DCs changed in the MSS 600 Support PackageXX

Hi
We are trying to instal patches from "MSS 600 support package 07" to "MSS 600 support package 17" at the same time we have 4 custom DCs in place.
Our custom DCs have dependencies in MSS standard DCs.
Question is how do we know the list ot DC changed/modified in suport package XX ?
Is there a description of DCs changed in the support package? Or is there a description on SC level so we could trace it

MSS No data exists. Is working - or not

Hi,
We have configured the MSS EMBORGCH and it is working or kind of working.
We have added a new selection called Furture employess, so the manager are able to see the future employees.
If there is no future employee, then the user gets this error: "No data exists for user XXXXXX in hierarchy MSSBIZVIEW".
And then if the user Log off the portal, then next time the manager log on. This message is shown: "No data exists for user XXXXXX in hierarchy MSSBIZVIEW". and the drop down selections are empty.
How to avoid this?

The problem is, that we have created a new view called "Future Employees". When you have future employees, this is working fine.
But if you do not have future employees, you will get this error message. If you then log out of the portal then the next time you log in, you will see this error and the dropdowns with the Views are empty, and you cannot navigate.
I just want the view to be empty and the navigation to work.
Right now, we are showing the manager, just to avoid this situation.

Error in NetWeaver CE 7.1 Installation: Step importJavaDump with MSS 2005

After a dozen unsuccessful tries to install SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 onto a Windows platform using the Microsoft SQL Server as the backed I could use help regarding this particular error.
I receive the following error when I try to install the software with MSS as the backend:

The error occurs only with MSS. I have both my Windows and MSS updates up to date. When I use MaxDB as the backend everything goes nice and smooth (even the java info dump, or whatever that command does). When I use Microsoft SQL Server as the backend this error is printed. I have tried with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on both Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP Professional SP3.

For one thing, there is no SAP note 942766 when you search for one at SAP Notes. Another thing that is particularly interesting is that the SQL JDBC driver does not get the SQL instance name, or at least does not print that to the exception message but instead leaves there two whitespaces (The connection to the named instance >>Instance name should be here<< has failed).
Any suggestions on how to get pass this error? All help would be appreciated!

please check and ensure that:
- your database server is started.
- your database instance is running and you can connect to it through the network interface
- the entries in secure store contain the correct options for
connecting to the database. (These can be checked via     configtool and this only applies to the case when JLoad is run using secure store parameters)

This message will appear if either the background jobs are not scheduled, or UWL cannot tell that the background jobs are scheduled. The message no longer appears once you ensure the background jobs are scheduled to run via the user id UWL_SERVICE and that user is mapped to my portal user ID UWL_SERVICE.

Travel Attachments not getting displayed in MSS

We are using ECC6.0 EHP7 with ESS/MSS in NWBC.
During creation of Travel Expense, the employee is able to attach the documents, but the manager is unable to receive it.
As we are having 2 level of approvals, we customized the workflow and when we are getting the workitem in Managers ID, it will be like this when manager click on the workitem,
What we need to do so that manager can view the attachments sent by the employees..??

I have gone through the link...In that the expense approval is doing through a separate application.
There are buttons available for approve, reject, Display/print etc...
But in our case none of this button is there.
We customized the workflow for making the Travel approval 2 level.
So when manager getting the travel requests of employees in work item, and when he click on the work item, a popup will open where approve & reject radio button will be there.
But because of this, manager couldn't see the attachments...!
How can we solve it..?

During the creation of leave request, the employee is able to perform attachments. And through the workitem, manager will be able to see the attachment & leave request. But when manager is trying to open the attachment, no action is taking place.
Neither the attachment is opening nor any error is appearing.

For Photo Upload I have maintained in this same table.

Now the Photo upload is working perfectly fine.
Attachment is also appearing in MSS, but when I click on the attachment, no action is taking place...
Its not opening..!!
What I can do to make this working..?
Is there any way to check it in R/3.?

NetWeaver Portal and ERP 6.0: BI, ESS/MSS and full Portal on one machine

with ERP 6.0 you need a EP Core Portal for BI Java. An other EP Core Portal for HCM ECC/MSS. The iViews from this portal you integrate in the main portal via federated portal. But in this scenario i need to much portals and have a lot of maintenance costs (administration overhead for evry portal). For a small Customer i will build one Portal for all. It is possible e.g. to use the BI Portal with ESS/MSS and as full portal?

So you would like one BI installation with both the ABAP and the Java-stack with the full BI-functionallity and additionally the XSS-component and set it up to work against the ECC ABAP-only system ?
I think the scenario would actually work, but:
1) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your BI-system and not the ECC-system.
Is it possible to run the old XSS-components in the new java-stack ?
2) You might get future problems if you want to upgrade your ECC-system and not the BI-system.
What if the new version of the XSS-component demands certain java-components which the BI-system do not have.
So my recommendation is still to run the java-stack on both systems.
ECC with the XSS-java-components and BI with the Bi-java-components.
This way you do not lock yourself into a corner and each system can be upgrade independent of the other.

Backend R/3 connectivity for ESS MSS from portal

We are currently in development cycle for ESS/MSS based on portal EP 6.0 SP16 and ERP 2004 in backend. We are trying to find out how the ESS/MSS business package on portal works with backend ESS functionality in ERP 2004. It is more of a connectivity question. We want to know if we expose our portal to internet so that users can login to ESS/MSS from internet, do we need to put backend ERP (ECC 5.0) system also in DMZ? Do we need to open ports between portal and R/3 so that ESS/MSS can work? Or the communication happens using JCO connections and we need not to expose R/3 system.
Also one more specific question? If someone knows how ESS/MSS talks to backend system. At SAP application layer level or database level? I am asking this question to check if I need to open a port to talk to database or I can very well keep 2-3 SAP application server in DMZ and work.

You need to look at the specific business package. For example, ESS for mySAP ERP 2004 says that the technology is Java / Web dynpro, which says that the Java engine uses RFCc to get the data from the backend.
Othe businesss packages may use ITS, which then needs another connection from the user to the ITS server.
