MSSQL 2005 creating additional ndf files

Hi,
on MSSQL we have 3 data files and 1 trans log file.
Becouse of 2quad core procesors on DB host we want to have 8 data files equally occupied.
Any idea how to do that on MSSQL level?

You can use enterprise manager to add the addtional file. Right click the database then properties->select "data" tab-> click on the empty row witht a logical name and physical location. BEFORE THAT...
It is recommended that only one data file is used per CPU (2 data files if it is dual core). If you already have enough number files of per CPU then you don't have to add addtional file irrespective of the current size of the data files.
Can you mention the reason why you wan to add the addtional file? More information helps us to understand the question.

How to create additional Line in file based on condition available as part of ZINVOIC02 Idoc segment

Receiving Zinvoic02 Idoc in PI. Idoc to file translation creates comma separated file with .csv extn

Now we have got addition requirement to add a new lineitem when tax code is equal to O3 for any of the E1EDP01.
Is it possible to create additional lineitem based on condition. If yes, please share what should be the approach.
How we can create the additional lineitem?
Currently we are using E1EDP01 to do context handling.

Please add one extra field in the data structure of the target mapping and let its occurrence be 0..unbounded under the root node 'MT_ADP_Invoice'.
Apply the condition, if tax code MSKWZ (with its context changed to E1EDP01) equalsS to '03', then map it to the newly created target field whose occurrence is 0..unbounded.
This will then create an additional field which is your requirement.
The above is one way.
But if you want to have the same target field name as ADP_File appended for tax field being '03'.
Then in that case you can you two message mapping for one common operational mapping / interface.
In the first message mapping you need to have one target data structure created with the source data structure remaining the same as the one shown by you in scrn shot. Now this target data structure will be similar to the source, except that you need to add one more field at the end(name different from other fields) in target (whose occurrence should be 0..unbounded), and it needs to be mapped to E1EDP01 provided the tax code field MSKWZ(its context changed to E1EDP01) equalsS to constant '03'.
In the second message mapping you need to map the target structure of previous message mapping to the actual required structure. The newly added field should be mapped to ADP_File of your final target structure.
This will then create the same structure as required.
Note : Please change the occurence of ADP_File to 0..unbounded.

Create Master Repository With MSSQL 2005

Hi,
I try to create a new Master repository with MSSQL 2005 but the connection to the database doesn't work.
I create a database named db_snpm for the master database and a database named db_snpw for the work db as oracledi_setup.pdf said.
I create a user/password snpm/password for db_snpm and snpw/password for db_snpw.
There are db_owner.
My driver connection : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
My Url : jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=db_snpm;integratedSecurity=false
User : snpm
Password : password
When I try the connection, I've got the following error "com.sunopsis.sql.c: com/microsoft/sqlserver/jdbc/SQLServerDriver "
I had created a SQL SERVER DataServer in the topology Manager with the same driver and url and the connection work fine. I used it in some interface.
Any help would be great.

Unload Creates a .sql file in addition to an .xls file

Hi All, I've recently downloaded version 3.0.02 which I use to create queries for database interrogation. I tend to export to Excel regularly and I'm finding that every time I unload an .xls file a .sql file is created in tandem.
I have no use for this and have tried many different settings in the preferences area to stop it being created but to no avail - in addition the unload seems to take as long as the original query as if the query is being rerun - can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Many Thanks, Steve.

Is the additional file you are seeing the Generated-<date-time>.sql file?
This file is generated when using a Save As type that can potentially create multiple sql files. It should not be created when generating Save As Single File. When we create a single sql file during the export, a generated control file is not needed and we should not create it... even if the Save As type is separate files, type files or separate directories. However, I can see that we are generating that control file when the Save As type is separate files, type files or separate directories cases and we created just 1 export file.
Selecting the SaveAs type as single file should get you around the problem.

Copy-item not overwriting exising files but creating additional subfolder.

Hello, A simple bit of code does not do as expected:
copy-item "C:\folder1\*" -destination "\\server1\share1\folder2" -recurse
I would expect this to copy all files from c:\folder 1 to the destination folder. If the destination folder does not exist it should create it however it doesn't. I get the error "Copy-Item : Could not find a part of the path".
if I change the code to the following i also get unexpected results:
copy-item "C:\folder1" -destination "\\server1\share1\folder2" -recurse
If i run this once, the folder structure is created and the files are copied. If i run this again it created an additional folder in the tree and copies the files to that folder again so we end up with the following:
\\server1\share1\folder2\folder2
What am I doing wrong? All i want to do is copy the contents of a folder to another location and create it if ti does not exist.

Copy-Item is confusing because, when copying a folder, if the destination doesn't exist it assumes you're trying to copy/rename the source to be the destination, whereas if the destination exists it assumes you're trying to copy underneath it.
This is really annoying behavior and you can vote to change it by
up-voting the issue here.
In your second example, folder2 doesn't initially exist so it thinks you're trying to copy and rename folder1 to be "\\server1\share1\folder2". On subsequent runs, folder2 exists and it thinks you're trying to copy folder1 underneath it ("\\server1\share1\folder2\folder1").
If you run it a third time, there's already a folder1 in the destination so you get "Item with specified name already exists" if you don't use the -Force flag to overwrite.
The only other answer I found online is "use RoboCopy instead". I didn't want to so I copied into the parent folder instead ("\\server1\share1\", in your example). This gets ugly when paths aren't literal strings. For example,
I had to use (get-item "c:\$_").parent.fullname as my destination.

Problem with MSSQL 2005 maintenence plan

Hi,
I am facing a problem with MSSQL 2005 maintenance plan. I created a plan which takes full backup of all the db’s and in the same plan I added a clean up task which is suppose to clean all the files older that 1 day.
To gain compression I converted this plan to lite speed. Now the problem is Backups are running fine but the clean task is not cleaning old files. The job runs fine without fail.
Any body who has faced similar problem please let me know if have the solution ?

Data backup restore in MSSQL 2005 X64 to MSSQL X32 bit

I am just planning to restore PRODUCTION data Backup into a TEST System for mean time testing.
We are using SAP ECC600, MSSQL 2005 on WINDOWS 2003 Server (X64 Bit).
I have MSSQL 2005 .bak backup file (X64bit) and i want restore it into X32 bit system.
Even i have tried but got error
"Restore failed for server 'XXXX' (Microsoft .sqlserver.smo)

System.data.sqlclient.sqlerror:The file on device 'z:\prddata\18.03.11.bak' is not a valid Microsoft Tape format backup set.(Microsoft.SqlServer.smo)

But appreanlty i have also tried Inst master & Kernel using 47x200 SR1 of x64 64 bit windows
NOTE- there are 7 exports for 470x110 & 8 exports for 47x200 release..
However since i am only doing a system copy i have used the following inst master of 47x200 of x64 64 bit windows
I would suggest you prepare target system & use EXPORT/IMPORT method of system during migration...
this would resulsts m uch better .pl revert back for any issues. aslo refere to sap note 600027

Create a Excel File in a Background Job

Hi SAP Gurus,
I am trying to create an Excel file using a background job but it is not possible.
In foreground mode i get a file.
Can someone give an explanation for that? Or someone have a workaround ??

If you have successfully demonstrated that SAP can write an output to an excel file, then it can do this in background as well as foreground. The problem is probably not with the fact that it is 'Excel', but that it is trying to write a file in the background to a destination file location that is unknown to the system.
Generally, without special setup, SAP software is unaware of most file locations that are outside of the SAP system itself. When you log on through the SAP Gui, the SAP back end can "learn" about certain additional file locations through your PC setup and the SAPGUI session. This 'knowledge' is lost as soon as you commit your program to a background process.
Talk to your Basis person, and tell him what you wish to do. This functionality is possible to do, but probably not in the way you are expecting.

What is the best way to create additional storage AND backup a laptop, as well as the storage?

Beyond being seriously annoyed at an Apple Employee recommended we go the NAS route at an Apple Store no less—only to find it doesn't work for storage OR Time Machine backups of iPhoto (after spending weeks organizing/transferring date, outside of a good deal of coin)—we are now perplexed as how to set up/store based on our needs.
Goals
Create additional storage (iPhoto, iTunes, documents) for the family laptop
Accessible by anyone/device on the home network (iPad, mini iPad, iPhones, etc..)
Would prefer the ability to access this offsite as well
Backup of the laptop
Backup of the storage HD
Ensure we do not lose iPhoto libraries data/files
Here is what I am thinking—need to know if it will work.
Purchase two HDs
Plug them into my base station
Allocate one HD @2T for storage (additional iPhoto libraries, home movies, iTunes libraries, etc...)
Partition the second HD @3T to handle two Time Machine backups
(a) Time Machine of the laptop (up to 1T of backups)
(b) Time Machine of the first HD (up to 2T of backups) - Is this possible?
What I need to know is
Is it possible to partition a HD to Time Machine two backups from different sources—one being a HD?
If this is not a good solution—what is? I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to deal with a lot of data related to iPhoto due to the formatting limitations there.

While most do not advocate mixing Time Machine backups with other files, I have 3 Time Capsules with files and backups on the same partition and have never had a problem despite doing it for many years. All 3 Time Capsule are set up as NAS devices.
One Time Capsule holds the Snow Leopard partition backup of two computers. The other two each have a backup of the Mountain Lion partition of two computers. Time Machine is set up to alternate between the devices, which it can now do. On these 2 Time Capsules is a copy of the iTunes Library and a copy of the iPhotos Library, which provides a backup for the two. Every so often I manually copy the new files from the primary iTunes/iPhotos library to the backup on the other Time Capsule.
If the computer is on, I can access the computer from my iPad and then access the hard drives and the files.
Hopefully, I have been able to make this clear.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CREATE AN XSD FILE (TO BE USED BY SOAP ADAPTER)

The XML file that I got from mapping area of IR (Design) is as follows

Creating an xml file from recordset

Hi...
XML newbie here - so.
Is it possible to create and xml file from a recordset?
I need to create a datafeed of our e-commerce products.
Also, some of the db data contains HTML Code (product
description field),
how will this effect the xml file?
Another problem is that my xml file needs to contain url's
for the products
and product images. My ASP pages contain these URL in hard
code and then
pull the actual file names from the db

How to create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Comm Ch

How do I create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Communication Channel? I have my mapping done and I am outputting the file as a comma delimited csv file. However, the target can only process an Excel file (.xls). How can I generate an Excel in XI?
I saw this blog, but I don't know how to create a XSLT transformation.

Here are the steps I took to create an XSLT transformation in XI 3.0:
1. I created my source and target XSDs using XMLSpy.
2. I created the XSLT mapping from source to target in XMLSpy (referencing the souce XSD schema).
3. I created another XSLT mapping to format the target into Excel XML.
4. Import the source and target XSDs in the IR's External Definitions
5. Zip each XSLT mapping (.xls) and import it into the IR's Imported Archives
6. Reference the XSL mappings in the Interface Mapping

Create NACHA ACH File ... Company ID not correct

We are trying to establish and new house bank-bank account- payment method for existing company code. Which generating the payment out of the housebank, the NACHA ACH Files is picking incorrect company code.
The file came in with an incorrect Immediate Origin ID & Batch/Company IDu2019s:
    The Immediate Origin, File Header (1 Record), position14-23 has 1030391841; it should be 3030391841. - This was resolved by configuration in FBZP House Bank Company Number
    The Company ID, Batch Header (5 Record) position 41-50 has 1030391841; it should be 3030391841. - Dont know how to change this
    The Company ID, Batch Trailer (8 Record) position 45-54 has 1030391841; it should be 3030391841. - Dont know how to change this.

If you are using RFFOUS_T to create the ACH file, that program is hard coded to put a '1' in front of the company code TIN (as maintained in OBY6 in the Additional Data for the company code) on both the batch header and the batch trailer records. To change the value, from '1' to a different value on these records, you have to code the logic into user exits. The RFFOUS_T user exit for the batch header is ZXFORU24 (function module EXIT_RFFOEXIT_101). The user exit for the batch trailer record is ZXFORU28 (function module EXIT_RFFOEXIT_105).

Splitting data equaly from one .mdf to several .ndf files

Hi all,
Situation:
We have a db with 1 TB of data in one .mdf file (sql 2012).
For better performance we want to split this file up into 4 equaly big data files on different drives.
1st guess:
Well I thought that's pretty simple, I just add 4 datafiles (.ndf) on different drives, empty my existing .mdf and drop it finaly.
Well the problem with this is, you cannot delete your .mdf file because it holds metadata (catalog) for your db.
Solution:
- I added 3 more datafiles (.ndf) with 250 GB size each, autogrow disabled, on 3 additional drives (no new filegroup)
- DBCC SHRINKFILE (your_logical_mdf_file, EMPTYFILE)
(this gives you an error because there is not enough diskspace to split the 1TB .mdf file into 3 x 250 GB .ndf files, but it splits your 1 TB file equaly to all your 4 db files)
- shrinked my .mdf file and adjusted filesize and autogrow settings for all 4 db files
Remark:
Just keep in mind that moving 1 TB of data around takes a while and you better do this in a not so busy time...

I don't see any advantage of the IO with filegroups.
We don't want to deal with what object should be in what filegroup, (most of the time we maintain 3rd party software/dbs) just want to get better performance by splitting data into more then one db file.

You could benefit from performance by splitting data in upto 4 or 8 files and each file on a different drive.
How are the underlying disks configured, do you know? Otherwise, if all of these volumes are carved out of a single lun then there won't be a performance gain that you are looking for. Also, please enable TF 1117 for uniform db file growth once you size
the files to be of equal size.
Note: You may want to test the emptyfile option on your .mdf file, as it may not be straightfoward.

There is no benefit by splitting database files on different disk drives if your Underlying hardware is RAID 10 or RAID 5 you can achieve performance benefit.Daa to data files are written in Round robin fashion and you dont have any control over it.
Please dont enable any Trace flag.I am not sure what could be solution beacause IMO you anyhow require space
