Multi Language –  Change standard iviews title

Hi all,
We are using EP 60 SP2,  and we have been implemented a few standard iviews (basead in a master standard iview coming from BP MSS 60.1). We would like to change the standard title of these iviews in all languages.
<b>We can change the title of the iview but we can’t select the language.</b>
Does anyone knows how can we solve this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Claus

Hi,
actually we got the same problem. The only solutions i know is the translation tool fpr pcd content available in sdn.  but that is not really good.
If you got any better solutions, please post it here.
Thanks,

  • Can you programmatically change the iView Title?

    Hi,
    I have a custom iView, and a requirement is to have the iView tray title changed depending on the content shown.
    Is it possible to have the iView Title changed from the custom iView code?

    Hi,
    Check this code:
    Just have these two methods and use the setPCDContextTitle() method
    public static void setPCDContextTitle(
            String currentPcdLocation,
            Locale locale,
            IUser user,
            String title)
            throws NamingException, PrivilegedActionException {
            IPcdUtils pcdUtils = PcdAccess.getPcdUtils();
            IPcdAttribute basePcdAttribute =
                pcdUtils.createPcdAttribute(PcdAttributeValueType.TEXT, IAttrPcmGeneral.ATTRIBUTE_TITLE);
            basePcdAttribute.set(locale, title);
            IPcdAttributes basePcdAttributes = pcdUtils.createPcdAttributes();
            basePcdAttributes.put((Attribute) basePcdAttribute);
            PcmAdminBase adminBase =
                (PcmAdminBase) getPCDContext(currentPcdLocation, PcmConstants.ASPECT_ADMINISTRATION, user);
            IPcdContext context = adminBase.getPcdContext();
            context.modifyAttributes("", DirContext.ADD_ATTRIBUTE, basePcdAttributes);
        public static Object getPCDContext(String currentPcdLocation, String aspect, IUser user)
            throws NamingException {
            Context pcdContext;
            Object currentObject = null;
            Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
            env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, IPcdContext.PCD_INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY);
            env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, user);
            env.put(Constants.REQUESTED_ASPECT, aspect);
            try {

    These iviews are embedded in a page as delta link.When my language in the portal is set to english I am able to see the ivews in that page.But when I am changing the language to French then I am not able to see the iviews....means the iviews are not showing data and are not working.
    Please suggest.

  • Multi-language with URL-iViews

    hi folks,
    I have the following little problem:
    Our EP is mostly based on URL-iViews to static HTML-sites in german. Now, we are planning to extend the EP with an english Version. The Users should see the portal in the language they choose in the portal personalization menu.
    My first thought was to use the portal-content-translation but this doesn't work for URL-iViews, as there is almost no text to be translated.
    Now, my idea is to put a little script between the portal and the HTML-sites that checks the chosen language and redirects the user to the specific version.
    The Problem is, I have no idea how to do that.
    It would be really nice if anyone could tell me how to do this or maybe you have a better solution for my problem.
    Thank you in advance for your efforts.
    Kind regards
    Norbert

    Hello Michael,
    unfortunately that doesn't work.
    If I put an URI like http://yourcontentserver.com/<request.language>/content1.html
    in the URI file of the URL-iView Editor and after that on preview I get the following error: page could not be found
    When I use a PHP-Script to catch the variable like http://yourcontentserver.com/index.php?lang=<request.language>
    I can't put it like that in the URI field cause I can't save it.
    When I use the URL-parameter fields and enter "lang" and "<Request.Language>" I get the following URL as an result:
    http://yourcontentserver.com/index.php?lang=%3CRequest.Language%3E
    As you can see, the variable isn't "translated".
    Maybe you could I didn't understand you right?

  • Multi-Language - How to change labels and titles of standard iViews?

    Hi Portal Content Management Gurus,
    I would like to know how to translate the text parts of the standard SAP provided iViews in order to support multiple languages?
    I tried the Translation Worklist Coordination and Translation Worklist facilities provided in the portal. But not able to figure out where I am making the mistake. I am not able to get the translated iViews. I also checked the "include dependent objects" option. But not able to find out where will the generated resource bundles will be available.
    Can any body guide me?
    Thanks & best regds,
    Alag

    Hi Saravanan,
    I just tried changing the browser language. I am not able to see the "Content Provided by SAP" folder itself under the "Portal-Content" directory.
    (1) Is there anything else I need to do in order to see that folder?
    And when I try previewing the iViews after changing the browser language, still the iView content is displayed in English.
    (2) Can I make a copy of this iView and edit change the language property to some other language say "German"? In that case, I will have to maintain multiple copies of the same object. But I tried creating a delta link copy of the object. But was not able to edit and change the language.
    (3) Or do I have to edit it in the par file of the corresponding iView?
    best regds,
    Alagammai.

  • Production tips for multi language titles...Arabic plus others...

    I am teaching a DVDSP course with a student who will produce multi language titles. Arabic is the primary with French, German, and English as the alternates.
    I follow the scripting ideas to test for which language the users select but I have a question on the menu production process.
    Is it this?
    Set language on Mac to Arabaic-Author this menu set-likely 2-3 menus
    Save work
    Switch language set to German-Author the same menu sets
    Save work
    Ditto for French and English.
    Switch back to Arabic and finish the project.
    Or this?
    Graphic buttons with 3 states each for German, French and English? Accept the issues with layered menus.
    Happy Holidays!

    Michael Mizen wrote:
    Set language on Mac
    Sorry Michael, but what exactly do you mean by that? And why would you need layered menus?
    In my book there are three approaches to the task.
    First: create 4 language folders in the project for Arabic, French, German and English. Create identical graphics and overlays for each menu set, except of course text which will be different for each language. Import them into DVD SP and change project language for each set to put menus in place. Make sure your VTSM does not go over 1 Gig. Author the DVD.
    The only problem with this approach is the user settings on a DVD player. If the user never bothered to change from default English to anything else, then only English menus will be displayed.
    Second: Create all your menus (in different VTSMs if you like, especially if content differs. It is not necessarily to do so). Create "Master" menu with language choices. Branch from it to language sets. Use "Display condition" in the advanced tab for tracks and menus for navigation tracking. Saves tons of redundant scripting.
    Third: Script your menus for tracking and re-directing navigation to the correct language of user choice. The only way for Spec authoring environments such as Scenarist.
    Needless to say the menus should be created outside of DVD SP
    Good luck to you and your student, and happy Holidays.

  • How to change headings and titles in standard performance mgmt screen ?

    Hi,
    I am new to webdynro ABAP. Kindly help with inputs for below requirement
    To change the process title  for Manager overview screen
    To change task descriptions (eg current description is- Schedule review meetings with employee and discuss goals. this needs to be changed to text given by the client)
    To change tab descriptions  (eg to change tab heading like Employee Documents, Team Goals etc)
    To change section descriptions (eg Individual Goals, Competency and Developement Goals etc need to be changed)
    will there be configurations or functions available to meet above requirement ?
    thanks
    B

    Dear B,
    Sure. That is easy.
    Here's what you need to do.
    You will need to Configure or Personalize your WD4A (Webdynpro for ABAP).
    How do you Configure a WD4A ?
    You need to click on a Application Configuration or Component Configuration on your WD4A on SE80.
    And then you will be taken (on your browser) to the App. and Comp. Configuration environment.
    And it is there that you can do some changes to your WD.
    Here's an image that shows you what I mean (where you need to click)
    [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/411/20111010152038.jpg/]
    But you can learn more regarding Configuration here
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/43/e86de5008b4d9ae10000000a155369/content.htm]
    What about Personalization of a WD4A ?
    For this you will need to run you WD4A in Personalization in Administration Mode
    See here what I mean:
    [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/685/20111010153034.jpg/]
    When you launch your WD in Admin. Mode your URL will have an extra parameter at the end
    named sap-config-mode=X
    Here's an example
    http://.......webdynpro/sap/fitv_powl_trips?sap-language=EN&sap-wd-configId=FITV_POWL_TRIPS&sap-config-mode=X
    By having this you can now personalize your WD for every user.
    Just go to your desired field, tab, label, button, wathever and personalize it.
    How ?
    Simple, just CTRL+Click on top of it and choose the option "Settings for Current Configuration"
    Here's an exmple:
    [http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/20111010153423.jpg/]
    After this a popup will appear with all the options for that UI element, where you can make a lot of changes (modify text, change size, hide, etc...)
    More on Personalization for WD4A here:
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/fd/2da442dc030e31e10000000a1550b0/content.htm]
    Hope this helps.
    Kind Regards

  • Language change for standard text

    How to change the language of standard text.
    ex; from 'EN' to 'CS'

    Hi,
    Refer note 3355 in OSS for a complete explanation. The SAPscript objects that should be transported must be written in a
         transport request.
         The entries are as follows:
         R3TR FORM NAME (NAME = Name of the layout set)
         R3TR STYL NAME (NAME = Name of the style)
         R3TR TEXT OBJECT,NAME,ID,L
         (OBJECT = Text object, NAME = Text name, ID = Text ID, L = Text language)
         If you want to transport a number of texts, you can use report RSTXTRAN to insert the individual text keys into a
         correction.
         The transport request must be entered and released via the transport system.
    Reward points if helpful

    2) Now provide name of the worklist, ID, Prefix & language.
    3) after creating translation worklist, open it by double clicking on it.
    4) Right click on the iview you want to add > click on Add object to translation worklist
    5) Now Click on u201CGenerate Translation Datau201D

    7) Now goto u201CWorklist Translationu201D (in detailed navigation)
    8) Type * and search
    9) Select the translation worklist which was created earlier.
    10) Select the source language as english (If your master language is en - you can find master language of role in role properties).  Target language as language you want to change.
    11) Click on u201Cload for translationu201D
    12) select the iview from the list you want to translate
    13) type the equivalent name of the iview manually in the Target Text.
    14) Click on Save All.
