Multi-line success messages

APEX 4.2.1
How does one go about creating multiple lines (with the HTML BR tag) in a success message? Using BR in the Process Success Message attribute works e.g. Line1 BR Line2 but when creating a dynamic success message by assigning the value (with embedded BR tags) to a page item and using &P1_X. notation in the success message attribute, the BR tag is escaped and shows up on the message shown on the screen

Figured it out. Create a Display Only page item with Save Session State=No and Escape Special Characters=No with a display condition of Never
In the process code, assign the success message including the BR tags to this display-only page item. Use &P1_DISPLAY. in the process Success Message.

Hi,
I need to display a multi-line popup text message with controllable response buttons in a user exit.
I looked at POPUP_TO_CONFIRM with its DIAGNOSE_OBJECT, but I need substitution parameters and the FM doesn't support this functionality. So this won't meet my needs.
Does anyone have any suggestions (maybe with some example code?) about how to do this?

Permanently save line spacing in a multi-line text field

Me: Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro, Windows Vista
(I think the people who will be using the form have Reader 7 on Windows)
I work in a doctors' clinic, and we use phone message sheets to document conversations between the patients/us/nurses/doctors, and I scanned the form and made it into a fillable PDF for our secretaries to fill out more quickly. The "message" area has pre-printed lines on it, and the multi-line text field I placed there needs to match up to the lines. I used the Rich Text Formatting options to set it to "Exactly 24 Points," but I can't get it to KEEP the formatting permanently. The only way I could get it to save the formatting in that field was to put a space in it and then save it, and then give that to the 2 phone secretaries. It works perfectly the first time, but instead of just closing/re-opening the file to start a new message, one of the secretaries highlights everything in the "message" field and deletes it... which deletes the line spacing formatting. I've told her

times to leave that starting space in the field, but she "forgets" so all of her messages look messed up. So is there a way to force that line spacing

You can set the font size of the text. Then play with the underlines in the original document to match the needs of the font that is used. Print to a new PDF and then use replace pages to put the new page into the form without changing the form fields. I was able to do this with a word processing document by adding underlining in the document with 12 pt and setting the font to 12 pt in the text field. You can play with the font, the border of the field, and the underlining in the original document to get the desired result. Is this optimal, probably not. However it does the job.

How to Remove the /Div in a Multi-line Field when reporting in Excel, getting

I am uisng Excel Services to extract data from PS2013. And the Multi-line text fields include the </Div> syntax. I have looked at a lot of the links regarding how to do this. I have even borrowed code that was on someones blog.
When I try and use it I get the following message and cannot not seem to resolve it after reading varous links regarding this issue.
Any ideas? As a work around I have created an Excel Macro to remove it, however would like to solve it in the query

I have to send an idoc to 2 Receivers by spliting the message.
Based on the occurance of a particular source segments i need to create those many instance of targets.
IDOC ---> Rec1 (More than one message instance)
     ---> Rec2 (More than one message instance)
I have taken messages of Receiver into a multi line container1
and messages of Receiver 2 into another multi line container2.
HOW can i rotate the loop as many lines of multi line container.

There are two webservices are 2 receivers.
In the idoc there is specific segment , which occurs unbounded,Each occurence we Need to check the value of a particual field and send to corresponding Receiver.
For Ex:
ZE1KONH (1..Unbounded)
   >MSFGN =004 --> Rec1
>> MSFGN==0009 Rec2
It could be like , 1 or more segm for Rec1 and 1 or more segm for Rec2
                        all are for Rec1 or All are for Rec2.
so in the tranformation we need to put all message of Rec1 in corresponding multiline container as well for Rec2. Then i need to send to correspongind Receiver.
So here i need to send all splited messages to appropriate receivers

And when I opened the csv file then the remaining lines , that is from the second line , of the column "motifs" are displayed through the column A of excel. The "motifs" multi-line text-item has 500 as its Maximum Length property value, and has a Char Data Type property value.
So how to display all the motifs' lines through the same column M without displaying the remaining lines in column A ?
Or are there tips to remove CHR(13) characters from a multi-line text-item ?

I tried to do it in different way. What i did is I have created a item of type formattted text and set its text like:--
<html>User authentication failed. <br*> Cause: Invalid password.</html> --remove *
So I am able to see the prompt like :-
User authentication failed.
Cause: Invalid password.

Multi line custom field badly saved to database

Hello community,
we're fighting currently against a strange issue.
All projects has some multi line custom fields to fill every week for project status.
During this exercise, some of the comments seems not well saved to database.
While coming back to the PDP, we are seeing a strange behavior :
Starting from that, I tried to look in the database and the saved html format is badly formatted, you can see a </div> in the middle and a missing one at the end of the sentence:
<div>Révision et approbation de l'ODS de Facilité.</div> <div> </div></div> <div>Compléter le questionnaire à soumettre aux experts.</div>
<div> </div> <div>Présentation et choix des experts.
As of now, we did not find any reason why this is happening.
While opening back the PDP in edition and saving back ,the problem is solved.
This is annoying because we are treating the html code as xml for reporting as seen here (http://aboutmsproject.com/converting-rtf-to-text-in-sql-revisited/
) and this is crashing because of badly formatted html code

I've seen this issue occur when text is pasted into the field from other applications, like Outlook and Word. I've not yet been able to determine how to get it to stop. The error then causes the invalid XML issue you are seeing. A former co-worker had successfully
integrated the use of jQuery into PDPs. I'm wondering if they have a HTML clean function.

How to create a multi-line table/column comment

Can someone tell me how to create a multi-line table or column comment?
Apparently, the concatenate operator (||) does not work with the COMMENT statement.
I've searched the Oracle manuals and couldn't find an answer.
COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS 'i would like to break up this comment into several lines in order to improve readability'; Effectively, this is what I'd like to do (but it doesn't work):
COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS
'i would like to break up ' || CHAR(10) ||

How to display Success Message on the Left side of Screen

I am displaying a Process Success Message after the ApplyMRU process, *#MRU_COUNT# row(s) updated*. By default, this message is displayed at the center of the screen. I would like to display this message at the left hand side of the screen.
I am using APEX 4.0; Theme Sand - 10. I have tried changing the alignment for the success message position in the Page Template – One Level Tabs, HTML Body section. But I am not having any luck.
Does anyone know how to change/override the default position for the success message?

I tried what you suggested and the success message is still being displayed in the center of the page.
I went to Template --> Page --> One Level Tabs. In the Header, I put the following lines before the </head>

I do not have any other custom CSS. Just strictly using Theme 10 - Sand

By default, Apex creates a single-line report heading for each column in a report. To minimize white space, multi-line column headings are sometimes appropriate. How can Apex be directed to split a column heading at certain place(s)?

FormsCentral PDF Form- How to View Multi-line Fields

I have a FormsCentral PDF form, which allows users to fill out the form and save as a PDF. However, after receiving the completed forms, I am unable to see all the text in the multi-line field boxes without opening them and scrolling down. Since I will be sharing several of these competed forms with a review panel, please let me know:
1) How to display the entire content of the multi-line field boxes rather than having the reader scroll down, then
2) How to save the completed forms so that its read-only when I send it to the review panel

Is there a reason you don't use FormsCentral to collect the responses? You could sign up for a 1-month subscription unless you have security or other reasons not to collect with FormsCentral, and then you'd be able to collect your responses and download each one as a PDF form individually and that form would be locked and have expanded text fields. You could stop automatic renewal and you would still have access to the form and responses in your Free level account (but could not collect more than 50 responses, if you already have greater than 50 those would remain).

Multi-line reading from applet?

I just began using a technique to get a single value
from the web server to my applet via CGI-BIN.

Note the line containing "END OF DATA". The reason I did that was that the connection was just getting stuck in that loop for too long. By using something to mark the end of the data, I was able to break out of the loop sooner. Maybe there's a better way but I don't know it.

Multi-line regexp

What at first seemed like a two minutes action turned out to be 3 hours google session with a shattered ego, because I failed to find a solution.
The task looks pretty simple: Remove all empty (i.e. untranslated) messages from a po file. A quick grep -v '\#:.*msgfmt ""\n\n' file.po should have done the job...if grep would work on a per line base. The same applies for sed and awk. I failed at making perl do the job and all hacks involving awk or sed didn't work the way I wanted - one sed line was really close, but a bit too greedy - it searched for the biggest possible match and killed 99% of the file instead of every single occasion of the regexp.
Do you have any idea on how to do it properly? Here's an example file content: (first two are empty, the last one is translated)

The problem is a non-fixed length, too. Some of these strings are multi-line and therefore I cannot say: ignore the last 2 lines when you encounter an empty string.
Zepp's link looks very promising, I was close to writing myself a simple C program to do the job. (I have to improve my Python or learn some Perl...seriously...)
Edit: Procyon: Your second project looks very promising, thanks a lot! I just have to add a white-space remover and my problem is gone! I'll have to understand the command later.

Need to create a multi line form

Hi All,
I have to create a Multi line form for which I have used the following:
1. Created an EO
2. Created a VO based on EO.
3. Created a Page that has two regions:
a. Main Region
b. Table Region
This Table region is of style Table. But when I run the page it shows that No Data has found. Even its not a search page.
Kindly suggest me that how can I make this page and this page should have 10 rows at a time available to insert.
