FormsCentral PDF Form- How to View Multi-line Fields

I have a FormsCentral PDF form, which allows users to fill out the form and save as a PDF. However, after receiving the completed forms, I am unable to see all the text in the multi-line field boxes without opening them and scrolling down. Since I will be sharing several of these competed forms with a review panel, please let me know:
1) How to display the entire content of the multi-line field boxes rather than having the reader scroll down, then
2) How to save the completed forms so that its read-only when I send it to the review panel

I can point you to some online information. I really don't know the steps myself.

Is there a reason you don't use FormsCentral to collect the responses? You could sign up for a 1-month subscription unless you have security or other reasons not to collect with FormsCentral, and then you'd be able to collect your responses and download each one as a PDF form individually and that form would be locked and have expanded text fields. You could stop automatic renewal and you would still have access to the form and responses in your Free level account (but could not collect more than 50 responses, if you already have greater than 50 those would remain).

You can use a script to change the font size to Auto, which will cause all of the text to display, assuming it can be even at a font size of 4. For example, the following code can be executed in the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J):
// Set the font size to Auto for a text field named "Text1"
getField("Text1").textSize = 0;
A script that will change this for all multline fields in the form is:
// Set the font size for all multiline fields to Auto
for (var i = 0; i < numFields; i++) {
    var fName = getNthFieldName(i);
    var f = getField(fName);
    if (f.type === "text" && f.multiline && f.textSize !== 0) {
        f.textSize = 0;
This script could be included in an Action if you want to do this for a collection of forms.

I need a JavaScript to enable/view Multi-line option for all the Text fields in PDF Form.
Assume that I have a PDF form of Fields from F1 to F100 and it contains 25 Checkboxes, 25 Combo Box and 50 Text Fields. Now i need a javascript for which i need to enable Multiline for only Text Fields. So Is there any JS for which i can enable the Multiline option for only Text fields and not for ComboBox or Checkbox.

Address Book: Importing Multi-Line Fields

A common and often unavoidable import format for Mac Address Book is Comma Separated Value files (.csv). Address Book cannot import CSV files that have multi-line fields, such as might be included in Notes, because it cannot tolerate embedded newline characters (a.k.a., carriage returns, line breaks). (See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad808.html. The CSV spec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma-separated_values) addresses this need by requiring that fields which contain newlines be enclosed in quotes, but Address Book doesn't adhere to this part of the standard.)
Here's a way to import CSV files and have multi-line fields preserved:
Using an editor, replace +every embedded+ newline character in the CSV file with "\n". Take care to not alter the newline characters that end each record. Import the resulting file into Address Book using the CSV option. Selecting the 'Last Import' group, export those specific records using the vCard option. Then delete those records. Then import the vCards previously exported. Presto!
Apparently, although Address Book is blind to "\n" when importing CSV files, and exporting vCard fields, it interprets this character sequence as newline when importing vCards.

Thanks, but the problem is not importing to AddressBook, it is exporting. I did discover from another that I can export very easily to a Numbers spreedsheet. It is exceptionally simple. But it will not export custom fields. Someone said that is because of a vcard standard. My custom fields are just "name" fields that I have labeled differently. But Numbers does not support the name (it only takes the name of the card).

Multi line field Navigation problem with ENTER key

No trigger on the field. Multi line Property is set to true.
The probleb is, when the cursor reaches in the multi line field. the contents of the field are hilighted/selected. So as it happens in Notepad or Word, if you select some already written text and press ENTER key the selected text will be replaced by carriage return so the selected data will be lost. Same is the case with multi line field. When field gets focus it selects the contents of field and when ENTER is pressed all the contents are deleted and a carriage return is placed.

One work around is that you have store content of that multi-line field in to some other variable thru PRE-TEXT-ITEM and once again assign (based on some conditon) in POST-TEXT-ITEM.

Multi-Line Fields that Move

Is there a way I can get a multi-line field to fit to the type that has been entered and then have all remaining fields move up? Users will be filling in photo instructions and some won't be as lengthy as others, but they have more photo info fields to fill out and they want to get as much as they can on one page.
No is an acceptable answer (but they aren't going to like it). Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

since you are constantly reminding us of LiveCycle Designer. Is that a separate application you purchase for PC's.
I know you bring up this program to poke Mac users in the eye with.
But now with the advent of Parallel's on Intel Mac's, can it be used independent of Acrobat. might be an alternative if they just have to get designer.

How to make multi-box fields for name or address in a PDF form to be filled in?

I would like to know how to make fields for name and address in a PDF form.
I am now using Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows Vista. I have downloaded a form in the format of a PDF file. Basically it is just a file holding images of pages of the document, and there are no fields for me to type something on it using computer. This form will be used frequently by me, but I don't want to print it out and fill it in every time by hand. I want to fill it in in the computer and print copies of it when needed. The output will then be much more neat and tidy.
I have seen PDF forms with blanks for typing name and address, which means the form can be filled in on the computer before printing. They are special, as these blanks allow users to type name and address with every character occupying a box in the field, which consists of ten boxes or so. These are not ordinary textfields. I want to make similar inputting field as well.
Does anyone knows something about making these input fields with each character using 1 little box in the multi-box field? Any ideas are appreciated.

I have a description field that includes multi-lines format, where the lines are being separated by
characters: chr(10) and chr(13).
When I’m using messageStyleText (or rawText) – I’m getting all the data in one line.
Can you please recommend of an OAF item that will display the text correctly?
Should I use another character as the line separator?

How to view multi-select responses in individual columns

Hi,
I have a multi-select field on my form. Users can check none, one, or many responses. When viewing the resluts, the response are concatenated together by a semi-colon and displayed in one column. I need to be able to sort based on the specific responses. Other form engines put these types of multi-select responses into unique columns for sorting purposes. How do I do this in Adobe Forms?

Did you try the right click and leftclick on the column letter? I'm pretty sure that addresses the issue.
Here are a couple of screen shots using a multiselect field with choices "AnswerOne AnswerTwo AnswerThree"
Here is what happens when you right click on the column heading:
Here is what happens when you left click on the column's letter (in this case B):
You'll see that in both cases, you can sort first or last by any of the options in the multiselect field. If you sort first by AnswerOne, all the responses that chose "AnswerOne" will show up first. If you sort last by "AnswerOne" all of them will show up last.
Does this solve the issue you're describing?
Another option would to use the filtering functionality. If you open up FormsCentral, go to the Help Menu, and click on FormsCentral Help, then click on "View Responses" and click on "Sort and Filter data", it will walk you through filtering data. Here is the link
You can set up filters to show only the response that answer "AnswerOne" or any number of combinations ("AnswerOne" AND "AnswerThree", "AnswerTwo" OR "AnswerThree").

Editing a PDF form- How to link fields in a text

I am trying to create a basic form for a medical practice which has various sections [e.g "history of presenting illness"] that have several lines of text each. When I try and create the form and write on the previewed highlighted fields, my cursor continuously stays on the line/field until the end and never returns to the next line/field below it. Instead it seems only to decrease the size of the font. How do I link the fields in a section of text?

You create a multiline field and then let it wrap. Your approach is wrong. If you insist on having separate entry lines, basically having a separate field for each line, then you might be able to do it with JavaScript. However separate fields for each line is not very consistent such a form.
Be careful about how you submit such a form with patient data. I assume you are just planning on saving it to a file and not submitting. The submission to an e-mail is not secure and thus not appropriate for such data. Also, you really only need to save the data for most uses other than viewing, and so saving as the data as FDF or XML (if Designer is used) is probably more appropriate to the application.

PDF form open in viewer not browser

I'm having a problem with a PDF form on my website. I've tested it up and down with no problems, yet I'm getting feedback that users complete the form, click "submit" and nothing happens...and I don't get the form using form central.
I've determined that the problem is that users are completing the form in a web browser, rather than in adobe reader/acrobat.
I would like to make a change to the form, or something with my site that would automatically open the pdf in a viewer (or detect if the user does not have Acrobat) - versus having to hope that the user follows the directions that I've posted to my site.
Please help!

Yes, unfortunately when you post a PDF online as you discovered it does not work right when filled out in a web browser and you want/need users to download the PDF and use Adobe Reader or Acrobat to fill out the PDF. It sounds like you are likely doing what you can - directing users as to what to do, you can see if you can get a good recommendation from the Acrobat forums on this topic (it is a general PDF issue and not specific to FormsCentral): http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat
