Multi Series in Starked Column chart

Hi all
I want to designa dashboard to show revenue by years and by detail divisions.
I have 3 years (YTD, last year and last 2-years) and 2 divisions (Production and Services). In Production, have 2 products and In Services have 3 services.
The detail of requirement as below link.
http://www.fusioncharts.com/docs/DataFormats/XML/MSStacked.html
I try using starked Column Chart but I can't work for multi series in column.
Who can help me the solution for this.
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry to jump in.  But to give an idea of the data layout needed it is as follows:
                        Col A        Col B            Col C                Col D               Col E               Col F
Row 1         Year      Service 1      Service 2      Service 3      Product 1      Product 2
Row 2         2009       £100            £150                 £120
Row 3                                                                                £200                 £250
Row 4
Row 5         2010       £100            £150                 £120
Row 6                                                                                £200                 £250
Row 7
Row 8         2010       £100            £150                 £120
Row 9                                                                                £200                 £250
The Row / Col refer to excel rows and columns for ease in explaining.  Rows 4 and 7 are deliberately blank to create a gap between the columns for each year.
You can then bind the chart data to the range B1:F9 and make sure that it is set to Data in Columns.
Then set the X axis labels click on the "By Series" radio button and bind the "Category Labels(X):" to the range A2:A9.
As the X axis labels will appear directly under the first column you may wish to add some superfluous spaces in front of the year title to shift the label to the right and appear under the middle of both columns.
Hope that all makes sense,
Paul

  • How to add two X Axis in the Column chart?Need Help

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to add two X axis in the SSRS column chart.Can someone please help how to add two X axis. I tried the secondary axis for horizontal axis but current x axis is shifting to other side, second X axis is not coming.
    Regards
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
    According to your description, you want to add secondary X axis for one series in a column chart, right?
    The secondary axis is useful when comparing two value sets with two distinct data ranges that share a common category. In Reporting Services, it’s not supported to create two X axis for one series. We can create secondary X axis when there are two series
    in a column chart. As we tested in our local environment, we can add secondary X axis for specific series. Please refer to the screenshots below:
    So I would like to know what’s your exact needs about creating two X axis for one series. If possible please share some detail information about your data and expected looking of the chart.

    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS 2008 Column Chart with Calculated Series (moving average) "formula error - there are not enough data points for the period" error

    I have a simple column chart grouping on 1 value on the category axis.  For simplicity's sake, we are plotting $ amounts grouping by Month on the category axis.  I right click on the data series and choose "Add calculated series...".  I choose moving average.  I want to move the average over at least 2 periods.
    When I run the report, I get the error "Formula error - there are not enough data points for the period".  The way the report is, I never have a guaranteed number of categories (there could be one or there could be 5).  When there is 2 or more, the chart renders fine, however, when there is only 1 value, instead of suppressing the moving average line, I get that error and the chart shows nothing.
    I don't think this is entirely acceptable for our end users.  At a minimum, I would think the moving average line would be suppressed instead of hiding the entire chart.  Does anyone know of any workarounds or do I have to enter another ms. connect bug/design consideration.
    Thank you,
    Dan

    I was having the same error while trying to plot a moving average across 7 days. The work around I found was rather simple.
    If you right click your report in the solution explorer and select "View Code" it will give you the underlying XML of the report. Find the entry for the value of your calculated series and enter a formula to dynamically create your periods.
    <ChartFormulaParameter Name="Period">
                      <Value>=IIf(Count(Fields!Calls.Value) >= 7 ,7, (Count(Fields!Calls.Value)))</Value>
    </ChartFormulaParameter>
    What I'm doing here is getting the row count of records returned in the chart. If the returned rows are greater than or equal to 7 (The amount of days I want the average) it will set the points to 7. If not, it will set the number to the amount of returned rows. So far this has worked great. I'm probably going to add more code to handle no records returned although in my case that shouldn't happen but, you never know.
    A side note:
    If you open the calculated series properties in the designer, you will notice the number of periods is set to "0". If you change this it will overwrite your custom formula in the XML.

  • [Forum FAQ] How do I add an average line to series group on SQL Server Reporting Services column chart?

    Introduction
    In SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS), you may need an average value on column chart.
    For the above chart, add an average score line to the chart, you can get which student’s score is larger than average score, and which student’s score is less than average score clearly. This document demonstrates how to add an average line to series groups
    on SSRS column chart.
    Solution
    To achieve this requirement, you can add another values to the chart, change the chart type to line chart. Set the value to average value of the series group and set the line to show only once by using expression. Please refer to the link below to see the
    detail steps.
    Click the chart to display the Chart Data pane.
    Add Score field to the Values area.
    Right-click the new inserted Score1 and select Change Chart Type. And then change chart type to line chart in the Select Chart Type window.
    Change the Category Group name to Subject. Here are the screenshot for you reference.
    Right-click the new inserted Score1 and select Series Properties.
    Click the expression button on the right of Value field textbox, type the expression below:
    =Avg(Fields!Score.Value,"Subject"))
    Click Visibility in the left pane, select “Show or hide based on an expression”, and type in the expression below:
    =IIF(Fields!Name.Value="Rancy",FALSE,TRUE)
    Name in the expression is one of the Students. Then only one line chart is be displayed by using this expression.
    Click Legend in the left pane, type Average_Score to the Custom legend text box.
    The report looks like below:
    Applies to
    Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
    Microsoft SQL Server 2012

    Thanks,
    Is this a supported scenario, or does it use unsupported features?
    For example, can we call exec [ReportServer].dbo.AddEvent @EventType='TimedSubscription', @EventData='b64ce7ec-d598-45cd-bbc2-ea202e0c129d'
    in a supported way?

  • Problem with mouse-over value on a column chart (by Series)

    Hi.
    First of all thanks for any offered tip.
    I am having a problem with a column chart.
    When I move the mouse over a column it should show a small pop-up (or tip) with the column name (series name) and the value (series value). The problem is that it displays an extra '1' just like the following:
    SeriesName
    1
    X.XXX
    How can I remove the extra '1' and only show the name and the value ?
    The data is populated by series (manually added).
    Mihai.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the tip Shanthakumar KA.
    Yes. It looks like the '1' is coming from the X Axis labels. The chart that I have built does not require any labels on the X Axis, so this was not set (X-Axis labels: Empty). I tried setting this to an empty cell, but the '1' still appears in the mouse-over tip.
    It is very weird. If I leave the X-Axis labels empty, I still get the '1' displayed which is very annoing.
    Are there any solutions for this except the re-building the tip with a label a.k.a. '[customize the mouse over values|http://xcelsiusandme.blogspot.com/2009/07/xm-sample-7-customizing-mouse-over.html].'

  • Colour by series in combination and column charts

    I am trying to create combination charts and column charts where each column or line in the charts can be assigned its own colour. This can be acheived by using the "By Series" option in the properties "General" tab. However, when this approach is taken, all the columns are grouped in the middle of the chart, with large ammounts of unused space on the left and right of the columns. Usual behavior with other charting programs is that the columns start from the left hand margin. Indeed, this is the case if I choose the "By Range" option, but then all the columns are the same coluor, and individual column and line colours can not be changed. Anybody got any ideas on how to resolve this please.

    Hi Darrell,
    Here's an example using COUNTIF. I've moved the count to a separate table. Table names are shown above each table:
    Formula:
    Summary::B2, and filled down to B6: =COUNTIF(Main :: $A,"<"&A3)-COUNTIF(Main :: $A,"<"&A2)
    Note that A7 must contain a numberlrger than the starting number for the last category you are recording.
    B7 should be left empty.
    Row 1 on each table is a Header Row.

    Barry

  • Re :Column Chart Drill on a series but not other

    Hello All,
    I was wondering in XC 2008 SP3 column chart , if I have Series A and Series B...if I turned on Drill ON...is there anyway to provide Drill only Drill A but not Drill B. I tried to not insert any value by Series B but I would still see Hand sign on Drill B.
    Is there anyway I could not show hand sign and just show regular arrow pointer on series B but Drill ( with Hand sign ) on Series A.
    Please let me know if I missed something.
    Thank in advance,

  • Multi-column chart issues

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a 2d column chart of quiz entry results with multiple series (one per possible answer) but it's not working as intended. I have 5 series all with code like:
    select null link, substr(question, 1, INSTR(question,' - ',1,1)), count(answer) from quizdata
    where answer ='Strongly Disagree'
    and :P13_DEP = emp_dep
    and to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY') = to_char(ins_date, 'YYYY')
    group by substr(question, 1, INSTR(question,' - ',1,1))Except with the answer being different (Agree, Strongly Agree~). However, when I load the page it only shows the results of the first series (Strongly Disagree, or if I delete that then Disagree)...anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
    x-axis = question
    y-axis = count (number of people to select that option this year)
    There should be 5 columns per question.
    Mike

    For anyone who has a similar issue with multiple series being displayed the reason for my error was that I didn't specify a name for the value...since all of them were count(c) they clashed; making it count(c) "Disagree" etc made it display as intended.

  • Creating a multi series line chart with different data providers

    I have 3 data providers of the same structure i.e ArrayCollection of DataElement and want to use them to create a multiseries line chart. I do not have just 1 dataProvider that can be used but 3 different data providers of the same structure that i want to use each for different series.

    Please help!

    Sorry for the confusion. Actually I must be doing some thing wrong like using ColumnChart to display a line chart or something like that.
    I have now realized that a multi series line chart can be built by having a different data provider for each of the LineSeries object.
    So the code below would create a multi series line graph :
    [Bindable] private var orangeSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 101000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 960000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 475000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 425000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
                [Bindable] private var appleSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 991000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 140000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 565000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 255000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
                [Bindable] private var bananaSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 891000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 147560, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 295000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 574000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
    I want to create a line chart with orangeSales, appleSales and bananaSales as three different lines on the chart for different dates specified.
    <mx:ColumnChart showDataTips="true" >

  • Column chart variable column width in a series

    Hi All
    I am having an array as dataProvider for my column chart where some values are null. Is there any way through which i can define my null values as 0 column width or remove columns from series. sample array as follows -
    <arr X="something" S0Y0="5" S0Y1="3" S1Y0="2" />
    <arr X="something" S0Y0="3" S0Y1="" S1Y0="7" />
    <arr X="something" S0Y0="5" S0Y1="5" S1Y0="" />
    <arr X="something" S0Y0="" S0Y1="3" S1Y0="" />
    <arr X="something" S0Y0="7" S0Y1="4" S1Y0="6" />
    Null values create a hole in column series so all i need to remove the gap in my series.
    any help is highly needed.
    thanks and regards,
    Varun Bajaj

    I'm running into the same problem and was wondering if this ever got resolved.  Here is a graph showing the problem.  As you can see there is a lot of empty space since the data set doesn't have entires for every time period.  If those "low data" dates could be collapsed somewhat it would be great.

  • APEX multi series line chart with different markers for each series

    I am using APEX 4.0 and trying to create a multi-series line chart that will have a different for each series.
    Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Edited by: user4635837 on Apr 19, 2011 7:22 AM

    Hello -
    It is possible to do.
    Another user in this forum has written some code snippets to assist in creating your own custom XML for charting. That reference can be found http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:30:418355095936797::NO:::
    Look this over and it should get you moving in the right direction.
    What you are trying to do isn't terribly difficult. In fact, I did it fairly easily as can be seen http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=28155:4:362637005964920:::::
    First, create a Hidden page item.
    Next, create a process that runs before regions
    That process will create the XML for your line chart and store it in the hidden page item. Use the above references for assistance in setting up the PL/SQL in the process
    Then, create your custom XML for your chart. Replace the #DATA# tag in the custom XML with your hidden page item.
    It is a bit daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it really isn't that bad.

  • Help Creating Dynamic Stacked Column Chart with Multiple Criteria

    Hi all. Im new here and hoping you can help.  I have a dashboard Im trying to rebuild from scratch (our computer had a meltdown and we lost all our files). I did not build the dashboard initially so Im trying to recreate it from the flash file we were able to recover. I have come across a chart that I just cannot figure out how to do.  I can figure out how to write an array in the Excel sheet that pulls the data into a table the way I need it to be but found out after I wrote that that Xcelcius doesn't support arrays so all my data disappears when I go into preview mode (which is especially frustrating since I can see the chart working fine in design mode).  Anyway this is what the data table looks like
    Month         Year            Company      Positive #          Negative #         Neutral #          Positive %       Negative %      Neutral %
    October      2011            CompanyA      1234                1234                 1234                 10                    10                    10

    The original chart was built so that you would choose the month from a combo box and then the company names would show up along the X axis with their % amounts shown in the stacked column.  I know how to make a combo box work and I know how to make a stacked column chart work with static data.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work so that when you choose the month from the combo box it filters the data.  I've tried filtered rows but I'm just missing some information that makes it work and I can't figure out what that information is.  It has to be able to get the month/year combo from the combo box and then go to the table, filter it by month and year and then create a multi-row table of data with just the company and the percent values.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Which connection you are using?
    IF quite difficult if you are working under static data.

  • Drill Down for Multiple Series in a Line Chart

    Hello,
    I seem to have a problem with the drill-down functionality in a line chart that has multiple series.
    I have a line chart that displays the readings of a patient over a period of 1 month. For each day, there is the glucose level reading, blood pressure reading, etc... So, each reading is a different series in my line chart graph.
    The basic requirement is: With a mouse over event on the chart, I am willing to display all the data that belongs to that day. The data will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in a small panel. It is very simple to do it when the line chart has only 1 series:
    i) Enable drill down.
    ii) Choose 'Row' as insertion type.
    iii) Fill out the destination field.
    iv) Make sure your labels (at the bottom of the screen) get the data from the destination cell.
    When there is more than one series, it becomes very difficult. XCelsius will not let me use the same destination cells for different series. So, I will have to use other destination cells. In that case, I will not know on which day is the user on. Is there any way to achieve this functionality?
    Let me know if you need further information.

    This is certainly possible, but there's a bit of a trick to it (and really hard to explain without screenshots!). There's two halves to it:
    1. Write the date that has been selected to a cell (for each series).
    2. Write the name of the series that was clicked to some cell (this is the property 'Series Name Destination').
    So let's say your three series are Glucose, Blood Pressure and Temp. Have those series names in B1,C1,D1 (with your dates down in column A). Insert a row below the series names (2:2), and then set up your insertion type for the chart as 'row'. The source data (for all three series) should be your list of dates in column a. The insertion cells for the three series will be, in order, B2,C2,D2. Now, depending on which point is clicked in the chart, the selected day will be inserted into one of those three cells. Completely useless unless you know which series was clicked.
    So you need to insert the name of the series that was clicked ('Series Name Destination') into the spreadsheet, let's say in F1. The rest is just Excel formulas. The logic is, you can now tell what series was clicked, and go and look up the date that was inserted for that series, then go and look up the row that corresponds to that date. So to get the date that was just clicked, your formula (in F2) would be =HLOOKUP(F1,B1:D2,2,0).
    Then a VLOOKUP will get the results from that row of data. For example, if I inserted another row at row 3 (to show my 'result' values) the formula in B3 would be =VLOOKUP($F$2,$A$4:$D$13,2,0).
    I hope that makes sense.

    In the new Numbers, How can I get a 2D stacked column chart to display only 1 column?

    This is one of those things that I find really strange about Numbers 3. The control for what you want to do is not where anyone would expect to find it.
    Select the Chart
    Click on Edit Data References
    Look at the bottom left corner of the Numbers window. It should say "Plot Columns as Series" or "Plot Rows as Series"
    Click on it and change it to the other
