Multi UUT with different Sequence-Files

Hi,
We are upgrading our teststations from TestStand 4.2 to TestStand 2013. With TestStand 4.2 we have copied and modified the Sequential-Modell to a Multi-Dut-Modell (10 UUT's). This worked fine. To start the Modell-File we used a Start-Sequence-File. We have to linearize 10 Rf-Sytnheseizers   (each UUT has a different Sequence-File, with different Limits). With TestStand 2013 it is not anymore possible to Run a Modell-File .
Actually I would also like to copy and modify the Batch-Modell from NI. But with the Batch-Modell-File always the same Client-Sequence-File is used for each UUT.
A short description of the Tasks:
Loading all UUT’s: Identification of UUT’s (PartNumber, Serialnumber manually or with a Barcode-Reader) (Sequence-Filenames, and Limits for all UUT’s are read from a Database)
Testing UUT 1 with SeqFile1, Saving Measurements of UUT1 To Database
Testint UUT 2 with SeqFile2, Saving Measurements of UUT2 To Database …
Showing Result-Panel with all UUT-Results
Showing Reports for all UUTs
We don’t have parallel taks. What is the best way to realise these matter? Thank you very much for your inputs.

Paul,
First, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this statement: "With TestStand 2013 it is not anymore possible to run a model file". Could you explain a bit more about what you mean? I can't think of any changes we would have made in TestStand 2013 that would affect the types of sequence files you could call or their interaction with a process model.
Second, it seems to me that the best approach might be to create a separate sequence file for each type of UUT you want to test, and call sequences from these files from one master sequence file. So for example, you might have 3 files:
1. TestStand "master sequence file" which uses the Batch model and includes the necessary callbacks and sequences to identify UUTs and perform actions that are needed for all types of UUTs
2. Sequence file for UUT type A which contains all of the tests for that type of UUT
3. Sequence file for UUT type B which contains all of the tests for that type of UUT
In this example, your master sequence file could make the decision of which type of UUT it is testing, and use a Sequence Call step to call MainSequence in the appropriate other sequence file.
Do you think this type of approach would work for your system? I'm not sure how you were architecting it before, but if there are any other factors that might have an impact on this type of solution, go ahead and post that and we think of some alternative approaches.
Hope it helps!

An infoprovider is an SAP BW object you can use to create and excute queries .  Info providers include  objects that physically  contain  data ,  for expale ... data target  like info cube ,  ods onjects , and info objects  ( char , att, text or hier ..)
They also include objects   that do not represent physical data storgae :

    Hi,

Hi all! This is my first post
My name is Francesco and I'm programming a keithley for measure some FET
using labview 8.6. I plot my output data on a XY graph but I have several curves,
one for each value of Vgs. Looking in your forum I've found the code
MultiplePlots.vi (21 kb) posted by Darin.K about a month ago that use Multiple
plots and it is perfect for my goal because with this I can plot every curve with a
different color. The only problem is that I like to plot my data in real time.
The code, however, use a Loop with N=50, accumulates the values on the edge
and plot at the end of the Loop the entire line.
My question is if someone can explain me how to modify the code to plot the line
point by point, so in real time and not at the end o the loop because I need to see
the current values during the measurement and not only at the end.
I think that I need to move the XYgraph inside the loop. I try but without lucky.
    Can anyone help me?
thanks and sorry for my very bad english.

  • Modify Batch Sequence to generate two reports per UUT with different names.

I have a special situation for the batch model.
Each UUT consist of two separate products that must be tested as a single unit.
I can run each UUT and generate a test report for each.  - aka. The standard use case works great.
However we are keeping records using this method. So I need a separate copy with a different name for each run.
The idea behind this is that we might have a running history for each half of the UUT. Since the two halves will probably never meet again.
I have looked at the BatchModel.seq and read some of the documentation, however I am having a hard time figuring out what is going on.
I assume the Highlighted Items above are where the UUT Reports are generated. I do not however know the mechanism for giving them the names from the Report Options->Report File Pathname menu or how to change it between those points in time. Also is there any tricks to getting duplicate Report with a diffrent path put into this setup.
Any links to relevant information would be useful. Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just copy those two steps and between them and the copies have another step that is just a Statement.  In there you can change the report path by setting parameters.TestSocket.ReportFilePath to the new path.
Ideally what you would do is have the client set it by using a callback.  So your code would look like this:
    Write UUT Report
Write UUT Report (on the fly)
Set Report Path Callback (override in client OR statement step)
    Write UUT Report
Write UUT Report (on the fly)
    Hope this helps,

  • Multi-clipping with different frame sizes

I have two video clips that I would like to merge into a multiclip. Unfortunately, they have two different formats. One is an Apple ProRes 422 (1024x768), while the other one is a PAL 720x576.
As far as I know, there's no way of making a multiclip out of the two, so I'm trying to compress the ProRes into a PAL 720x576, but the result is just awful. Considering the ProRes 422 is a screen capture, any suggestion on how to obtain a high quality multiclip out of the two original tracks?
I'm using Compressor and Final Cut Pro 7.

    Let's do the math…
Your ProRes contains a bit less than 800,000 pixels per frame while your PAL is only about 400,000; one of every two of your original pixels is being thrown away or smooshed into the PAL format so, yes, I imagine it looks pretty bad. You can, of course, scale up the PAL but then you are merely doubling the size of every pixel, you are ot adding any new detail or resolution.
Decisions like this are  made by carefully assessing the output requirements, not the editing setup. How will you display the final piece? If you have HD playback resources and needs, you must scale the PAL up If you are going to standard def of DVD, then both of your sources are going to get smooshed into obscurity.
If you have the ability to maintain the highest rez, you can bring your 768 footage into a 576 sequence and, without scaling it so the video is cropped, move it around in sync with your soundtrack so the important part of the screen capture is visible. Export at 576. You will also need a full screen version to handle cutaways.
However, just my opinion, using multiclip for  two inputs is way overkill. Easier to just edit conventionally with two tracks and a razor blade.

  • Merging old sequence timeline into project with different sequence settings?

I successfully did this yesterday. But when I tried to replicate my efforts, I got different and unwanted results.
I have an old project created in Pro 2.0. It has a timeline that I want to keep. In the old project, the sequece settings did not match the source clip, so 2.0 overscanned in rendering.
I created the proper sequence setting in 5.5. Then I imported the original sequence from the old project. The first time I did it, it took the old timeline and merged it with the new sequence settings--a perfect result. Today when I try to replicate that effort, it brings in the old timeline, but applies the old settings, resulting the overscanned result.
How, step-by-step, do I get the result I want--an old timeline with new settings????
    Thanks very much!

    Thanks Simon.
Let me clarify. What I'm trying to do is to correct the sequence setting without having to reassemble the whole project.
As I said, I was able to do just that yesterday, but have not been able to duplicate my efforts.

  • Working with different sequence time-bases in the same Project..

    Hi
My question is specific but hopefully will clear my understanding of how to deal with multiple frame rates in the one project...
I am supervising a project shot at 23.98 fps native in the DVCPro HD codec and editing in FCP 6.02.
The editor is cutting scenes in separate sequences.
Unfortunately they accidentally created a new sequence set for DV-NTSC, 29.97 fps and cut a scene in there. FCP must have prompted them about the mistake when the first clip was added... but they ignored it I guess.
When the scenes are compiled together in a single sequence (23.98fps) the incorrectly formatted DV one is all messed up size wise and aspect ratio (of course).
    How to fix?
Here's what I've tried and failed at...
The source DV sequence can't be reset in itself because I can't change the timebase.....
If the DV sequence's clips are copied and pasted into a new 23.98 sequence the clips are still the wrong size... and there seems no way to change these attributes.
I tried exporting an EDL for the DV sequence and reimporting and relinking clips in a new 23.98 sequence... but the DV source has more than 2 Video tracks so EDL transfer won't work.
XML export/import just duplicates the original DV sized sequence..
I'm probably missing something .... like well, remake a new sequence correctly and re-edit it! But now I'm interested in what I'm missing here.
    Anyone?
    Thanks
    Lee

  • Multi-clip with different video codecs. Can it be done?

Is it possible to create a multi-clip when using different video codec (i.e. HDV 1080i50 & HDV 1080p25)?
    Thanks.

Nope. Convert one to match the other using Compressor. Or better yet, convert them both to matching ProRes 422 files.

  • How to make a multi-clip with different footage formats?

Have an hour-long concert shot with three cameras plus a separate high-quality audio track.
Cameras 1 & 2 are the same format (HDV 1080p30).  Camera 3 is DSLR footage from Canon 5D (imported into FCP7 using Log & Transfer).
I used PluralEyes to sync everything up, and created a Multiclip -- but that multiclip isn't working properly when I drag it into a new sequence.  (It makes me render the whole thing before I can even work with it -- and then it won't work anyway.)
    Help ...

OK.  For testing, I converted the DSLR to HDV (can do ProRes later).
The Multiclip still does not work.  It DOES work if it's just cameras 1 & 2, but when I add camera 3 (the DSLR) -- the sequence wants to render and then when I select "Open" to work with the multiclip, it doesn't work.
I don't understand what's wrong, because all three camera clips were used with PluralEyes and all three have the exact same settings (HDV 1080p30, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps).
    What's wrong?

  • FCPro Render times - much longer with different Sequence?

Has anyone else noticed this? For many years I have worked with just a few Sequences in FCPro, and the render times seem to be similar in them all - at least that I've noticed. When I slow motion scenes, or render simple graphics - I kind of have a feel for how long I have to wait for various things. Both with my MacBook Pro (2010) and Mac Tower (2 years old). I've always found render times, not excessive. Usually I've worked with DVCProHD.
BUT NOW . . . I'm noticing I'm waiting 2 to 3 times longer for any render. By NOW, I mean since I bought the XF300 and am natively importing 50mbs 12x720 footage into FCPro. (I overcrank a lot, so I tend to stay with 720.) It can now be done after the firmware upgrade a few months back. I love how much faster "native" import is, and I love it using 50mbs as it should, not 70mbs, which it did using ProRez import.
BUT I'm noticing much longer times to render in the XDCAM 422 720p30. Render screen says "conforming edited MPEG-2." Of course, this takes away some of the excitement, and is downright annoying! Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? Can render times change significantly, depending simply on the timeline Sequence setting? If they do, I'll just live with it - but I need reassuring that it's normal to take much 2 or 3 times the time - or I'm kinda hoping I'm doing something wrong!
    Thanks,
    Larry

OK Shane, I've done a bit of work here - this might surprise you?  Maybe you'll learn something, we'll find out.  But you've certainly been helpful to me!
OK, I took a 5 minute Sequence, shot with the Canon XF300, imported natively into FCPro.  The test here is to now render in XDCAN vs. render in Prorez.  I LOVE Logging & Transferring in NATIVE as the files are 30% smaller (50mbs vs. 70mbs - and that goes for the ProRez exports as Self Contained movies, too - 70 vs. 50mbs.)
So now it gets interesting . . . to render the 5 minute movie using XDCAM HD rendering (same codec) as importing footage = 5 minutes to render the timeline. Not much rendering was needed.  Coincidentally, 5:00 even to render about a 5 minute movie.  The total render "space" it used was 932meg.
Now . . . I did the same render (after I deleted all renders) but this time I had it render in ProRez instead.  It took 3:30.  Soooo, it saved 1:30 in the rendering process.  GOOD!  So we "learned" FCPro renders faster in ProRez as compared with XDCAM, which is exactly what you said!    Oh, it ony used 832 meg for the ProRez renders, which means not only is ProRez faster to render, but it uses about 10% less space to actually "do"it.
But here's the GLITCH I can't explain.  I then exported to self contained movie (which we normally do in our workflow, master to a self contained movie to save).  In the XDCAM render sequence, it takes 1:35 to export to self contained movie, about normal for a 5 minute movie.  But the ProRez render took almost 6 minutes to export!!
WHY would it take over 3 times longer to export the ProRez sequence compared to the XDCAM sequence?  This is what didn't make sense to me.  (I'm wondering maybe in the export process, FCPro doesn't "see" the (ProRez) renders and has to rerender it just to export it? And that's why the export time is so much longer with ProRez?  What do you think?
So to sum up, NATIVE import is faster and smaller files.  Then ProRez render is faster and smaller files.  So I'll do that!  BUT then it takes longer to export the "ProRez" rendered Sequence   You just can't win!!!  If you have a 60 minute timeline, it's seriously longer!
Do your findings parallel mine?  Anyway, thanks for your time, and if you can't tinker with this, I certainly understand.  I'm just trying to setup a workflow here.  I've tested this 3 times, my results are consistent.
    Thanks again,
    Larry

  • What is best practice for multi camera edit with differing lengths?

I have three cameras that took video of an engagement party. Camera A and B took it all (with some early extra material exclusive to each camera). Camera C took some, then stopped, then took more.
So I have four sets of clips - A and B which are complete, then C then D.
Should I create sequence 1 with A, B and C synchonised, then create sequence 2 with A, B and D synchronised, then sequence 3 with sundry early non-multi camera clips, plus sequence 1 plus sequence 2 then late non-multi camera clips?
Or can I synchronise A, B and C, then on the same timeline synchronise A, B and D? I'm concerned that the second synchronisation will put C out of sync.
What is the best way to approach this?
    Thanks in advance.

A and B which are complete, then C then D.
I think you're looking at this in the wrong way.  You have only three cameras, A, B and C, but you don't really have a D camera, as those are just other clips from camera C.  You might call them C1 and C2 if you like, but calling them D seems to be confusing the issue, as it's still only three cameras, and three shots to choose from when cutting the sequence.  (Except for the gap between C clips, where you will have only the A and B shots to choose.)
You can absolutely sync all the clips form camera C on the same sequence as A and B.  And it will probably be easier to do so.

  • Calling a sequence in a new thread with different values

I have a sequence that I want to call that runs in parallel (seperate thread). The question I have is that I want to run this sequence from a lot of different places, but with different values of the variables going into the steps inside the sequence.
If I change the values inside the sequence (running on seperate thread), then I will have to duplicate this sequence over and over. What I really want to be able to do is run a step in a seperate thread, and not wait for it to complete. Is this possible? Or a method of passing step values into a seperate thread. I don't want to use globals unless I really have to.

    Hi ADL,
I have attached an example which I hope will illustrate an answer to your question.

    Hello Omar,
The example code Programmatic Printing of TestStand Reports - Modular contains a sequence that will convert an XML file to an HTML file given the XML file's path and the path to the stylesheet.  It may need to be altered to fit with the modifications you have already made to the report generation routines, but I think it should definitely get you off on the right foot.  Let me know if you have any questions!
