hi all- bigtime newbie---
my Q is: is there any reason i couldnt create 1 flash movie which actually contains several diff. videos with somekindof control(action?-get/goto) to advance to a specific frame which wud b the beging of ea. diff. vid.?
i want to create doors opening onto 1 "screen" which will b showing a vid.; watcher can use control/action to skip to the next vid.- thereby aleviating the need for scripting several movies to play on the same pg in only 1 "screen"
possible w/ flash? & if so can anyone direct me to some good general instructions specific to my project, please.
i'm SURE i'm not the only one to ever think of this.

The full featured Reader for Windows 8 is Reader XI.
Reader Touch works in all Windows 8 systems BUT it is intended mainly for use in mobile tablets - I see no particular reason to use it unless you can'r run Reader XI. Given it is mainly for use on mobile that can't use Flash, we aren't likely to ever see the development team spending their time on this.
If you want the latest and greatest - at least try Reader XI, not X! (Flash is a separate download, it will prompt). -

How to access properties of swf created with pdf2swf
Hi all-
I am new to flex, I have been using pdf2swf to convert
multi-page pdfs to swf files and then load them in adobe flex. I am
able to load the files correctly with SWFLoader but not access the
properties to advance the frames (play, stop). I have been scouring
the internet for a way to do this that I understand.
I have tried doing something like:
var mymovie:MovieClip = MovieClip(myloader.content);
and then using
mymovie.play();
which I can't seem to get to work.
Has anyone here done this successfully. If so, could you give
me an example of how this is done?

J'ai essayé de créer ma vidéo sous d'autres formats (avi, mpg, etc...) mais il n'y a rien à faire, la qualité est bien meilleure avec flash (swf). Mon problème c'est que j'arrive à créer une vidéo en swf (avec un logiciel de DAO) mais le poids de cette vidéo est de +/-5mo et je n'arrive pas à compresser cette vidéo sans trop perdre en qualité, c'est pour une utilisation sur le web et il faut que ça soit à la fois esthétique et fluide lors de la lecture. J'aimerai pouvoir afficher une vidéo en 600x600 pixels.

On Windows XP.
I watch videos on CNBC and on FireFox 3.6 I use to right click and open up videos in new tabs and there was no problem, they also only started when I clicked on the tab to view the video which was good because it meant I did not have to go through and pause them. But FFox 4 can not handle multi vids in multi tabs, or at least mine can not . Please advise what I can do to fix this. Kind Regards.

ID CS6 Interactive Pdf with buttons is coming up blank
Please help. I am making a resume after recently graduating college. I have made the entire resume other than the "portfolio" page. I wanted to make the page show small images of my work, than when you roll over them they expand to show a larger image. I wanted to do this to show my progression with InDesign to potential employers, however, when I save the entire resume as an interactive .pdf the last "portfolio" page shows up blank every time. I have trouble shooted the process dozens of times to the point I want to pull my hair out. I made another new file separate from my resume which shows a white page. I put two pics only and when I previewed the buttons they worked fine, just like on my resume, but when I export the simple two pic document to an interactive .pdf the page comes up blank or black. The furthest I have made it is to have the smaller pics show up and when I hovered over them the pointer turns to a hand but no larger image shows up. I know it is in the exporting process cause I can get the buttons to work perfectly in the preview. WHAT am I doing WRONG??? Thanks.

Do you have any screen grabs of what is going wrong?
From what I can understand, the first page is your standard text resume and then on the second page you have your portfolio.
But your portfolio is not working. The rollover to expand to show a larger image may be the cause of your issue. I've had tear my hair out moments also with trying to do this.
You could try to have the button images along the top or side of your second page and then get them to load into a larger frame below or to the side of the buttons. You can do this using Multi State objects. This may get you out of the bind you're in now.
To get a Multi State object to work in an interactive pdf you need to export the MSO (Multi State object) to swf and then add that swf to your interactive pdf export that and then you should be in business.
I'm going to knock up a basic mockup of one and put a screen grab in the reply to better explain this.
I've got the buttons up on top, you click on these to move through the portfolio of images. I've got five you may have more or less.
Select all the images and add them to the media panel to make a MSO.
Select each of the buttons and in the buttons panel add an action to go to a state, do this for each of the buttons.
Export the MSO doc as a swf, create a new doc (same dimensions) add the swf and then export as an interactive pdf (make sure to set a poster image in the media panel otherwise you'll get a weird grey flash symbol in your pdf)
Open the pdf and test to make sure it's what you want.
Obviously your portfolio / resume will look a hell of a lot better than this, this is just a proof of concept.

Hello everyone I am hoping someone here can help me. I am going to school and I have an action scripting class. For my final project we have to make a flash video player with a custom skin to upload to our websites. We did something similar to this with our first project which we made a player where the movies where embedded in the file itself but this is supposed to be a youtube like flash player where we can call in the files from another source.
We kind of got pressed for time and were not able to go into detail with this project so the teacher gave us the code and I put it in exactly how it should be but im pretty sure i have something misplaced or I am missing a step. I get 8 different errors when I go to test the movie. and nothing works. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or can you point me in the direction of a tutorial on this as I have been searching for tutorials on this with no luck.

ID CS6: Interactive PDF Buttons -- Random Errors
I'm creating a 50+ page catalog of tshirt designs. There are 4 rows of designs on each page (total 28 image objects), as well as a single preview area to the right of the rows which I've setup to show a closeup of design on rollover of the corresponding image in the row. So, I've set each image in the row as a button, as well as corresponding closeup image which is set to show on roll over and hide on roll off.
My issue is that we are having what I can best describe as random glitches / errors with the buttons when exporting to interactive pdf. I say random, because the errors are not consistent; you can open the file and 1 of the closeup images will be mistakenly showing until you roll over the corresponding image, yet you can open the same file again, and that issue will not be happening again. Another issue would be that a row of images (that should always be showing) will randomly not show on a page, but if you scroll to the next page and then back, they will be there.
For these reasons, I'm fairly certain that it is not an error in our setup, but simply a glitch. Is there any sort of "save" setting that would eliminate these errors?
FYI: we are viewing the pdf on acrobat x pro and adobe reader on both windows 7 and windows 8.Hi there,

Can't Connect attendee's who have right Equip/bandwidth
I have a new g5 able to host multi vid conf's..the 2 people I want to join both have g4's with 1.33mhz...and more than the required 100mbps connection. Only one person has the 3 camera icon indicating he can joing the multi vids conf. Is there a setting we are missing? We all have Ichat AV3.0...and Tiger.

I'm using ExternalInterface.call in a swf file to call a
javascript in the html container. The swf file is located in a
different domain than the html container. Everything works fine if
all files are within the same root directory, but as soon as I
reference the swf file located in the other domain, the call stops
working! What am I missing?

Hopefully, that's enough for you to chew on. Like I said if
swf and html are in the same domain, it works. Just as soon as I
point to second domain for swf file source it stops working.

dekeHere's my mistake -- the swf file was fine and actually
worked in IE6/IE7 but wouldn't work in Firefox. The process of
including the swf file in the HTML was flawed. I originally
published the HTML using Dreamweaver to write the <object> in
the code. What fixed the problem was I published the swf file using
Flash to a desktop folder which produced a javascript file
(AC_RunActiveContent.js), the swf file and the HTML. The javascript
dynamically determines which browser was being used and which
player plugin was required. The script ultimately loads/writes the
embed or object for the swf file appropriately for the content
environment and everything communicates properly. It didn't have
anything to do with cross domain communication at all.
The main challenge was updating the Flash HTML/Javascript to
use the proper swf resource which was located on a different server
and move the js file to the appropriate directory updating the link
in the HTML accordingly. My only concern was the added overhead of
an external javascript source. But, at least I'm not concerned with
whether it works or not anymore.

i want to bring in FLVPlayback.swc and .AS
to the library path, i added the swc, i added the directory containing fl and below folders for the .AS file(s).
the import stmt and the object =new FLVPlayback(); works, but when i do an addChild() it says that i must use addElement or perform skinning. addElement dies on implicit conversion.
so, can SWC's be dragged and dropped with the designer or only thru code, any thoughts.
as for why, just a test to see how to bring in swc's, plus the current VideoPlayer is a bit flakey. i have a lot from flash cs4 I want to bring in, custom UI objects.Sorry, our video experts are out for the rest of the week so you're stuck with me.
1) Download the latest FLVPlayback control SWC from http://www.adobe.com/go/fms_tools/ (FLVPlayback 2.5.0.15)
2) Click the "Download the tools" link.
3) Agree to the licensing stuff and click Agree.
4) Click the "Adobe FLVPlayback 2.5.0.15 for Flash CS4 Professional and Flex" link to download the ZIP (you may need to sign in).
4.5) Create a new Flex project in Flash Builder 4. Also, I'm using Nightly build 4.0.0.8448 from http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4.
5) Extract the ZIP and copy the /FLVPlayback2.5/adobe/fms/samples/FLVPlayback_2.5.swc file into the new Builder project's /libs/ directory. (So it should be /libs/FLVPlayback_2.5.swc)

I´ve got the GNBMax-6565 and I use PcAlert4. My 3.06 cpu temp with normal load is about 62C and after playing a 3d game is about 74C. Is it vey hot?
look at the box that came with your processor it will be writen there most of the 3.06 have multi vid so 1.55 or 1.525 doesnt matter as long as u dont reach 1.7v

First time I saw the bios the setting was 1.525 but the fail safe settings and the optimal settings recommend the 1.55 core.look at the box that came with your processor it will be writen there most of the 3.06 have multi vid so 1.55 or 1.525 doesnt matter as long as u dont reach 1.7v
