Multicast producing double rows in one pipe only

SQL Server and SSIS are both version 2008 R2
I had an existing SSIS package that was copying 6000 rows from our IBM database to a SQL Server database daily.  Now I need to copy the same data to a second SQL Server so I thought using the Multicast tool would be a perfect solution.
I deleted the connector between the conversion widget and the original data destination then added a multicast widget between the conversion widget and the original destination.  Then added a new destination and connected a second pipe from the multicast
tool to that.
When I run it, the SSIS interface and the log tab both indicate that 6000 rows were written to both destinations.  However, when I look at those destination tables the new destination has 12000 rows in it.  Every row appears twice.  The original
destination has the correct 6000 rows in it.
If I temporarily delete the first (original) destination then the new destination gets the correct 6000 rows.  I can delete both pipes and re-create them and no matter which order I do it, the original destination gets the correct number of rows and
the new destination gets double that.  The only way I can get the new destination to get the correct row-count is when it is the only destination hooked up.
If I add an IDENTITY column to the new destination table the duplicate rows are not added in any particular order (assuming IDENTITY value corresponds to insertion order).  That is, IDENTITY 2 is not a duplicate of IDENTITY 1, nor is IDENTITY 6001.
 The values seem completely arbitrary.
I have tried multiple setting for rows-per-batch (even 1) with no change in behavior.  The destination table has no keys, indexes, constraints, or triggers. It's currently just a "bucket of data".  it was created by scripting the original
destination table and running that script on the second server.

I would actually set an on insert trigger on the destination table and log at what time the other duplicate arrives.
And just out of curiosity, how did you define the destination connection properties, e.g. FaslLoad used perhaps, what else.
I'd also try to dump the data to a file and see what you end up with.
A small chance for a bug exists, this is what I am trying to figure out.

  • Concatenate strings from more rows into one row.

    Hi,
    what's the name of that analytical function (or connect by) that
    would return strings from more rows as one row concatenated. i.e.:
    (I know this is possible using regular pipelined functions.)
    ROW1:   STR1
    ROW2:   STR2
    ROW3:   STR3
    select tadah().... from ...
    result:
    ROW1: STR1 STR2 STR3Thanks.

    Hi,
    Here's a basic example of SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH.
    The query below produces one row of output per department, containing a list of the employees in that department, in alphabetioc order.
    WITH     got_rnum     AS
         SELECT     ename
         ,     deptno
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  deptno
                                         ORDER BY          ename
                              ) AS rnum
         FROM     scott.emp
    --     WHERE     ...          -- Any filtering goes here
    SELECT     deptno
    ,     LTRIM ( SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH ( ename
                                  , ','     -- Delimiter, must never occur in ename
               )          AS ename_list
    FROM     got_rnum
    WHERE     CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF     = 1
    START WITH     rnum          = 1
    CONNECT BY     rnum          = PRIOR rnum + 1
         AND     deptno          = PRIOR deptno
    ;Output:
    .   DEPTNO ENAME_LIST
            10 CLARK,KING,MILLER
            20 ADAMS,FORD,JONES,SCOTT,SMITH
            30 ALLEN,BLAKE,JAMES,MARTIN,TURNER,WARDThe basic CONNECT BY query would produce one row per employee, for example:
    .   DEPTNO ENAME_LIST
            10 ,CLARK
            10 ,CLARK,KING
            10 ,CLARK,KING,MILLER
            20 ,ADAMS
            20 ,ADAMS,FORD
    ...The WHERE clause: <tt>WHERE CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1</tt> means that we'll only see the last row for every department.
    SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (which is a row function, by the way, not an analytic fucntion) puts a delimiter (',' in the example above) before every item on the list, including the first one.
    The query above uses LTRIM to remove the delimiter at the very beginning.
    WM_COMCAT (or the equivalent user-defined STRAGG, which you can copy from AskTom) is much more convenient if order is not important.

    Look up the LISTAGG() function in the documentation for your version (assuming it is there) and see if it can do what you want

  • ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml must contain one and only one root file reference."

    Hi all,
    After correcting a table-of-contents error in my .epub file, I am unable to upload it via iTunes Producer. It lists this error message:
    ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml in 9780615431727.epub must contain one and only one root file reference." at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    The file has been verified and only has one root file reference in the container.xml file.
    Has anyone been able to find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hello Forum Users…
    For those of you who have run into the upload roadblock, getting an error message similar to this:
    Package Summary:
    1 package(s) were not uploaded because they had problems:
              /Users/slm/Desktop/MUSIC to PICTURE for IBOOK/2012 MTP for iTUNES Bookstore/9780615600918.itmsp - Error Messages:

                        ERROR ITMS-9000: "OPS/ibooks.ncx(5): 'p50': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content9.xhtml'" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    Following is a "specific" fix, but the idea of the fix will help you with your specifics too.
    I tried for 17 days to upload a book that looked and worked perfectly in iPAD via Preview.
    After many discussions with Apple, who to their credit stayed with me over 2-3 days, I decided to play a hunch.
    I went into a duplicated copy of the book and on every page, (because the error message was not telling the whole story), looked for what InDesign would call "Overset Text."
    Now... the "flaw" in iBOOK Author (hint) is that it won't advise you of this "overset text" as does InDesign.
    And to compound the matter, the exported ePUB document WORKS in iPAD Preview.
    See Screenshots from InDesign:
      Okay... Couldn't add it but it is a Warning Box that says there is overset text. (Characters which exceed the text box.)
    Nevertheless, I played this hunch, and sure enough found a few boxes with the + in them.  In other words I clicked on EVERY text holder and every text block in the entire document.
    Where I found + signs, I simply deleted some carriage returns from the iBOOK file... (please note… carriage returns and literally empty spaces that caused the overset text) and then erased all previous copies of the Music to Picture Book on my hard drive,  iTUNES and iPAD.
    The result?  A "text-book" upload with no snags!  As my Son would say… "Victory!"
    So, first make sure that you are using only PNGs, Jpegs and Movie files to iBook Specs.  Then... make sure there are no overset text boxes, which you must do manually.
    Enjoy & Godspeed!

  • Double rows retrieved in a simple select

    Hi guys, I got an issue that I'm not able to resolve, maybe because I'm exauxted ( I moved more than 600 million of rows today)...anyway:
    create table ff (tote varchar, whe date, period int, added date, cost int)
    insert into ff values ('A', '2014-01-08', 1, '2014-01-06', 10),
    ('A', '2014-01-08', 1, '2014-01-07', 10),
    ('B', '2014-01-09', 1, '2014-01-06', 30),
    ('B', '2014-01-08', 1, '2014-01-07', 40)
    select tote, whe, period, MAX(added), cost
    from ff group by tote, whe, period, cost
    Having the code above I retrieve three rows.
    A 2014-01-08 1 2014-01-07 10
    B 2014-01-08 1 2014-01-07 40
    B 2014-01-09 1 2014-01-06 30
    That's why the cost is different in the tote B. It shouldn't be but with millions of rows you ran into a lot of these errors. The query above inside a procedure works fine ( Is one of the cte on cascade) but in one per cent of case doesn't works because
    retrieve the double rows ( as you can see works for the tote A but not for the tote B).
    Do you have any suggestion? I need to retrieve one rows per tote having the last added. I would like to avoid self join by the moment that the performance is slow...
    Thanks

    create table ff (tote varchar(10), whe date, period int, added date, cost int)

    A very cautious "yes". It mainly depends on what you expect.
    It has always been possible to just export to PDF and post that on your site. You can also export your ID file as one comprehensive SWF file and immediately put that onto the site -- it comes with a few handy browse functions, snazzy page flipping (when required); and it looks exactly like your ID document.
    Hard-core techies can use the Export To XHTML/DreamWeaver function, but that will only export the very bare bones -- plain text, with just the commands for text formatting in place. You have to re-do layout and styling in HTML code. Bear in mind ID is designed, top to bottom, as a document layout program, and this export is "extra", not really a basic feature.

  • Select or deselect multiple rows with one single selection  event

    Does anyone know how to create a JTable which can select or deselect multiple rows with one single selection event in JTable. Fore example, if the table has
    row1
    row2
    row3
    row4
    row5
    row6
    What I need is when user select row1 or row2, both row1 and row2 should be set to be selected. Then if user press CTRL and click one of row3 or row4, both of them should be selected including the previouse selected row1 and row2.
    For deselection, if row1 and row2 are selected, when users deselect one of row1 or row2, both of them should be deselected.
    Hopefully someone can give me a hint.

    Here is a partial solution using a JList. Only one line gets highlighted when the user makes a selection in the list. But, two lines are returned. There is a blank line between every two lines.
         private void addLineToList() {
              String a = f_one.getText();
              String b = f_two.getText();
              if (a.length() == 0) {
                   Utils.showInformationMessage("Item field is empty.");
                   f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              if (b.length() == 0) {
                   Utils.showInformationMessage("Match field is empty.");
                   f_two.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              model.addElement("item: " + a);
              model.addElement("match: " + b);
              model.addElement(" ");
              int size = model.getSize();
              pairList.setSelectedIndex(size - 3);
              f_one.setText("");
              f_two.setText("");
              f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
         private void editList() {

                   Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
                   f_one.requestFocusInWindow();
                   return;
              if (!f_one.getText().equals("")) {

              if (!f_two.getText().equals("")) {
                   int result = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(this,
                   "The Match field contains text. Replace the text?",
                   "Flash Card Activity", JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION,

                   if (result == JOptionPane.NO_OPTION) return;

  • Merging rows into one row but into SEPARATE Columns

    Hello Gurus,
    I have searched alot on OTN and many other places, but no where I could get the solution of how can we merge rows into one row but separate column. For example
    Consider the below scenario
    "DEPARTMENT", "EMP","NAME","SUBJECT"
    "Electronics","1","Sam","LIC"
    "Electronics","2","Pam","VLSI"
    "Electronics","3","Tom","C"
    "Mech","1","Abu","Thermo"
    "Mech","4","Lina","Machines"Now, I need the output like
    Based on Department as Group By Clause
    "DEPARTMENT", "EMP1","NAME1","SUBJECT1","EMP2","NAME2","SUBJECT2","EMP3","NAME3","SUBJECT3"
    "Electronics","1","Sam","LIC","2","Pam","VLSI","3","Tom","C"
    "Mech","1","Abu","Thermo","4","Lina","Machines"
    The row data to be loaded into separate columns. Name of the column is not an issue... can be anythingIn all the forums which I went through I could find them loading into a single column, but not into respective separate columns.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Frank,
    I saw your name nearly n number of times, as I went through many forums today... And the link which you have just posted, I went through it today afternoon.
    Could you please explain this bit taken from your dynamic pivot post.
    SELECT     DISTINCT
         ',     COUNT (CASE WHEN job = '''
    ||     job
    ||     ''' '     AS txt1
    ,     'THEN 1 END)     AS '
    ||     job
    ||     '_CNT'     AS txt2
    FROM     scott.emp
    ORDER BY     txt1;Many Thanks.You only need that when you need column aliases based on the actual data (and you explicitly said you don't need that) or when can't put an upper bound on the number of columns to be displayed. If that doesn't apply to this problem, then don't use any kind of dynamic SQL (like the code above); it makes the job much more difficult, less efficient and less robust.
    Here's what the code above is doing.
    If you were hard-coding a query that showed the number of people in each job, and you knew that the possible jobs were 'ANALYST', 'CLERK' and 'MANAGER', then you might hard-code a query like this:
    SELECT    deptno
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'ANALYST'  THEN 1 END)     AS analyst
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'CLERK'    THEN 1 END)     AS clerk
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'MANAGER'  THEN 1 END)     AS manager
    FROM       scott.emp
    GROUP BY  deptno
    ;If the jobs had different names, or if there were not 3 different jobs, then you would have to change the lines in the SELECT clause that start with ", COUNT ( CASE ...".
    The code you posted is from an example of dynamic SQL, where you first run a Preliminary Query . (What you posted above is, in fact, the complete preliminary query.) The output of that preliminary query is exactly the variable part of the real query, such as:
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'ANALYST'  THEN 1 END)     AS analyst
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'CLERK'    THEN 1 END)     AS clerk
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN job = 'MANAGER'  THEN 1 END)     AS managerYou then use this output as part of your main query. In other words, you can write something today that will generate exacrly as many columns as you need next year, with names from the data as it is next year. How? because you're not writing the full query today. The variable part will be written by the preliminary query when it runs next year.

  • Passing Multiple rows from one external webpart list to another

    Hi Folks,
                    I have almost spent 1 week looking into this without any success. I have an external list "List A"  (in a webpart) with one of the columns as "State".
    Another external list "List B"  (in a webpart ) has state and user as columns. In some case I want to pass 1 state and in another I want to pass multiple state.  Passing one state from List A to List B works fine. But Multiple state does
    not work because the webpart list has the property "Send First row to connected web parts when page loads".  If I disable this option then the web part does not pass anything. Is there a way to pass multiple rows from one Webpart
    external list to other?

    No Lookups
    Unfortunatly the only thing that you can do a look up on in an external list is on the ID column, anything else and you are out of luck.

  • Concatenate two rows into one drop down? Not order them though

    Ok I have two rows:
    Group
    Original Performance NorGrip
    Gold Blank Disc
    Gold Blank Disc
    Truckbed Liner Kit
    Then I have another one:
    Attribute
    Grade
    Grade
    Dimensions
    However, I don't want them combined on top of one another.
    I want it so a person can select like so:
    Original Performance NorGrip Grade
    Gold Blank Disc Grade
    Gold Blank Disc Dimensions
    Truckbed Liner Kit (no value in the other column)
    The truckbed liner kit has no attribute value in the column so I would rather the option not show at all... So as long as the attribute column is filed, combine the two and show it in a validation list..
    I know how to create lists and then make them validation lists, but this is stumping me..

    From your example and description, I'm not sure I understand what you are starting with. Do you have a grid (group, etc across the top; attribute etc in rows, with som marker that shows which combinations are valid and which arent? Or do you have two rows
    (or columns) that /only/ contain the valid combinations?
    If you have them in two rows (or columns) containing only the valid combinations, then you can insert a third row (or column) as a helper column and just concatenate the two values, like A3 =A1 & " " & A2
    Then either use that range to feed your validation list on the same page, or turn it into a named range and feed a validation list on another sheet.

  • Combine rows to one

    Hi Guys,
    Need to achive the following...
    SERIAL_NO
    PART_NO
    VEHICLE_ID
    171C
    M-8
    171C
    M-1
    593
    Here I need to merge the two rows to one using the following column headers...
    Serial_No Part_No1 Part_No2 Vehicle_ID
    Here Part_No1 should have the record value where Vehicle_ID is Null
    Thanks,
    Napster

    Try this.
    WITH tab(SERIAL_N, PART_NO, VEHICLE_ID) AS
    (SELECT '171C', 'M-8', NULL FROM dual UNION ALL
    SELECT '171C', 'M-1', 593  FROM dual UNION ALL
    SELECT '171D', 'M-9', NULL FROM dual UNION ALL
    SELECT '171D', 'M-2', 765 FROM dual)
    SELECT SERIAL_N,
            MIN(decode(VEHICLE_ID, NULL, part_no, NULL)) part_no_1,
            MIN(decode(VEHICLE_ID, NULL, NULL, part_no)) part_no_2,
            MIN(VEHICLE_ID)
    FROM tab
      group by SERIAL_N ;
    Only condition is that there are two records for each serial_id and one having null vehicle_id, other wise it may give wrong output.

  • Multiple header rows for one table?

    Using html it's possible to set up multiple table header rows for one table but with APEX Reports I don't see how to implement this. Any ideas?
    I want to use the second header row to provide links to data for the column only (not a row). But I still want sortable columns so I want to maintain the default column header behavior too.
    Thanks,
    Linda

    Mike,
    I tried that and found that indeed the substitution string is working and shows in both debug regions I set up on each page I tested.
    I have tried this on two kinds of pages. It works correctly on standard pages with PPR report regions.
    It is not working correctly on a page based on Carl's tabbed regions with PPR reports. One click and the header disappears. This is the version I really want to get working.
    I'd like to post something but have asked twice for a space on apex.oracle.com and have yet to receive even an email acknowledging my request.
    Perhaps you can help me get a space?
    My new problem on the tabbed page where my multiple headers are working is that when I click on a link in the header, it loads that page below the tab. But if I now click on the tab again, rather than return to the original tab page, I get error "ERR-1777: Page 4042 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator. " This happens on both the tabbed regions pages and on the standard tabbed pages. I guess I need to provide a differently formatted url? It is currently like this -
    -----------------------"<th id="opt-details1" [a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:3001:&APP_SESSION.:::::"] View Details</a></th>" --------------[not really square brackets but I didn't know how to make this show in the forum with proper <> brackets ----------------------
    Thanks again,
    Linda

  • Find and replace an item in one column only

    I have tried and tried and I cannot work out how to find and replace an item in one column only.
    For example one column has a letter followed by a number which varies in length.
    I want to find and repace the letters with nothing leaving the numbers only.
    But when I try to do this all the letters in the spreadheet are replaced, not just in the column I have selected.
    Help please....

    Hi 8'
    Use a formula.
    Insert a (temporary) auxiliary column to the right of the one for which you want to male the changes.
    Assuming you description is accurate—every entry in the column consists of a letter followed immediately by a number of one or more digits—the problen could also be stated as  "How do I strip the first character from a string?"
    Here's a sample. Letter followed by number in column B; number part without leading letter i column C:
    Formula:
    C2, and filled down to end of column: =RIGHT(B,LEN(B)-1)
    When the formula has done its work:
    Select all of column C (except the ehader row cell), and Copy.
    Select cell B2, and go Edit > Paste Values.
    Select column C again and go Table (menu) > Delete column.
