Multiline field in ALV row

Hello.
Is it possible to have  a multiline field in an ALV control (cl_gui_alv_grid or cl_salv_table). I already searched the documentation but I could not find anything about multiline fields in a single row.
Thanks in advance.

No, you can not wrap text within the cell.

    There are a number of ways to create a fieldcat.
    For the purpose of this example i will build the fieldcatalog manualy
    by populating the internal table fields individually and then
    appending the rows. This method can be the most time consuming but can
    also allow you  more control of the final product.
    Beware though, you need to ensure that all fields required are
    populated. When using some of functionality available via ALV, such as
    total. You may need to provide more information than if you were
    simply displaying the result
                  I.e. Field type may be required in-order for
                       the 'TOTAL' function to work.

  • Hide a field in ALV "Display Details" list

    Hi Experts,
    I have a requirment where I have to hide a field in ALV output, as well as in "Details display".  I already put NO_OUT = 'X' for that field in fieldcatalog itself. It is hidden in the ALV output anyway, but the problem is when user selects a row and clicks on "Details" button in toolbar of ALV, it still displays the hidden fields of that ALV list with/out headings there.
    Hope you understood my problem, pls respond soon if you hav any solution for this?
    Thanks
    Sarav

    Use TECH = 'X' in field catalog.

  • Dynamic displaying of decimal points for currency field in ALV

    Hi,
            In ALV output there is a currency field and displaying data of different countries. It should display decimal point according to the country's currency. But at a time it can display data of different countries.

    Hi Dilip,
    I think your question is about currencies with different number of digits after decimal point. If you have the currency field in the ALV row, you have to give it's name as currency reference for the value field in the field catalog.
    After creating the field catalog, call a form and do something like this (change fielnames accordingly).

  • F4 for Editable field in ALV, display Name but capture ID

    Hi Friends,
    I have a ALV for which i have defined a Structure, which is passed to Fieldcatlog.
    I have defined a Search help - ZUSER_NAME which has following fields to display.
    USERID - USR02-BNAME
    FNAME
    LNAME
    FULLNAME
    So my structure for fieldcatalog has User-id which is linked to this search help with Domain XUBNAME.
    So in my report i made this User-Id as editable and F4 available, everything is working fine.
    when user does a F4, its displaying Userid,Fname,Lname and complete name.upon selection and save i am capturing the id and storing in the ztable.
    But now i have a requirement that when user selects a value from this search help on F4, i need to display Fullname but capture the User Id. How can i do that?
    This is something similar to the one we have in BSP- key-value pair.
    how to do this in ALV.
    Appreciate if someone can guide me thru.
    Thanks,
    Simha

  • Color  for a Field in alv output

    Hi All,
    I use a field in the ALV grid output which needs to display color (red or green) depending on certain validations. Please tell me how to display color for this field. The program uses oops.
    Thanks.

    Hi
    1. add one more field to ur final internal table say COLOR(4)
    2. in layout wa_layout-style_fname = 'COLOR'. " if its grid
    wa_layout-style_fieldname = 'COLOR'. "if its list
    3. read table itab index 3.
    itab-color = 'C410'.
    modify itab index 3
    4. see program SHOWCOLO for all color codes
    1. Add a field of data type CHAR(3) to the internal output table.
    2. Enter the color code in the appropriate field of the row to be colored in the internal
    output table:
    Code: 'Cxy'
    C = Color (all codes begin with 'C')
    x = color number ('1' - '9')
    y = highlight ('0' = off, '1' = on)
    3. Assign the internal output table color code field name to the IS_LAYOUT importing
    structure IS_LAYOUT-INFO_FIELDNAME field and pass this structure in the ALV call
    interface.
    To enable row coloring, you should add an additional field to your list data table. It should be of character type and length at least 4. This field will contain the color code for the row. So, let’s modify declaration of our list data table “gt_list”.
    you should fill the color code to this field. Its format will be the same as explained before at section C.6.3. But how will ALV Grid know that you have loaded the color data for the row to this field. So, you make it know this by passing the name of the field containing color codes to the field “INFO_FNAME” of the layout structure.
    e.g.
    ps_layout-info_fname = <field_name_containing_color_codes>. “e.g. ‘ROWCOLOR’
    You can fill that field anytime during execution. But, of course, due to the flow logic of screens, it will be reflected to your list display as soon as an ALV refresh occurs.
    You can color an entire row as described in the next section. However, this method is less time consuming.
    Coloring Individual Cells
    This is the last point about coloring procedures for the ALV Grid. The procedure is similar to coloring an entire row. However, since an individual cell can be addressed with two parameters we will need something more. What is meant by “more” is a table type structure to be included into the structure of the list data table. It seems strange, because including it will make our list data structure deep. But anyhow ALV Grid control handles this.
    The structure that should be included must be of type “LVC_T_SCOL”. If you want to color the entire row, this inner table should contain only one row with field “fname” is set to space, some color value at field “col”, “0” or “1” at fields “int” (intensified) and “inv” (inverse).
    If you want to color individual cells, then for each cell column, append a line to this inner table which also contains the column name at field “fname”. It is obvious that you can color an entire column by filling this inner table with a row for that column for each row in the list data table.

  • How to assign a tooltip for a field in ALV editable grid?

    I have to display some instructions ( 50 chars long) for an editable field in alv.
    How to do this?
    BCALV_DEMO_TOOLTIP tells about assiging tooltip to an icon or symbol.
    Thanks,
    Ven..

    Neither of these two example programs help much in regards to tooltips against any field of any row. Both of these examples use tooltips for Icons. I have also been looking for a single example of tooltips usage outside of these two programs, and have found nothing in SAP, or on the internet, so far.
    Having said that, I have tried to implement the same method used by the later example, but have not got this to work. What I think we need is an example of this functionality where these Icons are not used!. I believe.

  • Aggregation function for field in ALV Webdynpro ABAP

    Dear all,
    Can I create aggregation function on one field of ALV WDA which that is currency type field and then display the result based on currency key field?
    i've tried using code as shown below
      lo_wd_field = lo_model->if_salv_wd_field_settings~get_field( 'TOTAL' ).
      DATA: lo_field_aggr TYPE REF TO cl_salv_wd_aggr_rule.
      lo_field_aggr = lo_wd_field->if_salv_wd_aggr~create_aggr_rule( ).
      CALL METHOD lo_field_aggr->set_aggregation_type
        EXPORTING
          value = if_salv_wd_c_aggregation=>aggrtype_total.
      lo_wd_field->set_reference_field_type( if_salv_wd_c_field_settings=>reffieldtype_curr ).
      lo_wd_field->set_reference_field( 'WAERS' ).
    and then i've tried enabled standard function as shown below
    lo_model->if_salv_wd_std_functions~set_aggregation_allowed( abap_true ).
    But Why result of aggregation is not formatted based on currency key?
    Best regards,
    Agnis Virtinova Avency

    Hi Virtonova,
    My requirement is also simillar.
    I want to aggregate total based on Currency key.
    In the total for sub groups and final total with out any text or Description getting only single or double or triple ( dots ). .
    Is it possible to populate / change with useful text or decription for those rows.
    I am not getting Currency type after the total/sub totals.
    how to fix this in ALV list after using aggregate for the ALV.
    Thanks in advance.

  • F4 help for a dropdown field in ALV

    I am trying to enable F4 help for a field in ALV (OO style) that also has a dropdown assigned to it.
    If I enable the dropdown in the field catalog, the field does not respond to F4 event at all.
    When I remove the dropdown attribute from the field catalog, the F4 help works, but obviously now there is no dropdown.
    The reason I am trying to implement it this way is that my dropdown list (which is the same for all rows) is quite large while F4 help depends on the current line in the ALV (so the available values are limited).
    I would like to try to avoid creating a dropdown handle for every row in ALV.
    Does anybody know if it's even possible to have a dropdown and F4 help at the same time in ALV?

    Hi
    Linking F4 Help to Fields
    For the last section, we will deal with linking F4 help to fields. It is easy. As usual, define, implement and register the event “onf4” at proper places in your code. For F4 help, you must register the fields whose F4 request will trigger the “onf4” event. For this you must prepare a table of type “LVC_T_F4” and register this table using the method “register_f4_for_fields”. While preparing table you must include a line for each field which will trigger F4 event. For each field in the structure;
    1) Pass the fieldname to ‘FIELDNAME’
    2)Set ‘REGISTER’ to make the field registered,
    3)Set ‘GETBEFORE’ to provide field content transport before F4 in editable mode
    4)Set ‘CHNGEAFTER’ to make the data changed after F4 in editable mode.
    Preparing table for the fields to be registered to trigger F4 event
    DATA: lt_f4 TYPE lvc_t_f4 WITH HEADER LINE .
    lt_f4-fieldname = 'PRICE'.
    lt_f4-register = 'X' .
    lt_f4-getbefore = 'X' .
    APPEND lt_f4 .
    CALL METHOD gr_alvgrid->register_f4_for_fields
    EXPORTING
    it_f4 = lt_f4[] .
    A sample “onf4” method implementation
    METHOD handle_on_f1 .
    PERFORM f4_help USING e_fieldname es_row_no .
    er_event_data->m_event_handled = 'X' .
    ENDMETHOD .
    Again, we set the attribute “er_event_data->m_event_handled” to prevent further processing of standard F4 help.

  • Modify ALV row properties

    Hi everyone. I'm working on this ALV report wich rows must be editable or not depending on a field's value. This is: if a certain field is different from 0, the ALV row should be editable. Otherwise, it shouldn't.
    Is this possible? If it is, how can I do it?
    Thans a lot,
    Fernando.

    Hi,
    You need to check for the following
    " to status editable
       l_mode = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_style_enabled.
    " to status non-editable
        l_mode = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_style_disabled.
    Please check standard demo program BCALV_EDIT_02

  • Regarding Editable Quantity field in ALV Grid

    Hi Experts,
    I need your advice in this 2 scenarios.
    1.I have a scenario where quantity field in output is editable and the user wants the quantity field printed without thousand separator. If i take a char field and display the field is editable then user may mistakenly type a,bcd...z/ special characters which it should not capture. Is there any char data type data element which accepts only integers. Because after that i need to save that value in z database table quantity field.
    2. when there i raised an error message after validation of that editable field in alv output(by events), the user wants all other rows in that grid as uneditable except the row which has got error till this error is solved. Is this possible. If yes how.
    Please share your valuable suggestions.

    Hi abilash n
    as in dictionary, all quantity fields should have a reference to the unit field which then defines the number of decimals.
    The rest is done automatically as long as you do it standard way. In field catalog you have to set the fcat-qfieldname to the name of the field that has the unit.
    If you do so, also totals will be grouped by unit.
    SAP has really done a great thing by inventing  units for quantities (and currency keys for currency amounts). Only developers do not understand and thus refuse to use it.
    Regards,
    Clemens

  • Auto-sum a multiline field

    I am working on an invoice for my organization. I have a multiline field that will list a coupel fo amounts for services - each amount on a separate row - and I would like to auto-sum these amounts in a different field called "TOTAL$". What do I need to do? What properties should both fields have?

    I think that will take quite a bit of scripting. A Multiline text field can not have the "Number" format, so you are going to have to write script to split the text into words and make sure you do not split at the "," or the "." for the words. You may also need to adjust for currency symbols.
