Multiple Alv in background mode

Hi all,
I am executing a program with two ALV's using a splitter container in background mode..It generates a spool with the data of only one alv..It never reflects both the alv's together..
Please provide with a solution..
Points will be rewarded...
Thanks in advance..
Arun

Unfortunately, ALV functionality is lost when the program is executed in the background. You'll have to modify the program to use plain WRITE, for example, or run it in the foreground.

  • Oops ALV in background mode

    Hi Experts,
    I know this topic is discussed several times but I still have a confusion.
    I have created one ALV report using custom container like the usual way. As per my understanding this report shouldn't execute in background
    but when I execute the report in background in development system, it's not throwing any error and I am able to get the spool.
    Why is this happening? Is there a possibility that if I transport the object to other system I may get error?
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Tiki

  • Sending attachment Mail with multiple sheets in background mode

    Hi,
    I have a requirement that I am having a 3 internal table those values needs to be exported to multiple work sheets in one excel file which has to be mailed to the user. This program is running in back ground. Please suggest me.

    Firstly , generate the excel file ( The details of generating the excel file are described in detail in the below link).

    After generating the excel file , use the FM  SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1

  • Multiple ALV reports not working in batch mode

    All,
    I have a report that creates a detail and a summary ALV report in one program.
    When run in the foreground it works great  - runs the ALV detail first and displays it and you arrow back and then the runs the ALV summary report and displays it.
    But when run in the background - I get the ALV detail report sent to the spooler but nothing for the ALV summary report.  Well I do get a second report sent to the spooler but it does not have any data displayed.
    I ran this in debug mode - faking out the program to believe it was in Batch Mode.
    Everything appears to look correct when it does the call to ALV - the outtab table has the summary data in it.
    Here is the calls to ALV:

    Maybe there something I should be calling or clearing out in the above parms when trying to create to spoolfiles from ALV in background mode.
    Any suggestions are most apprecaited.
    Thanks.

    before calling the ALV create a separate spool for each list.
    if sy-batch = 'X'.
    get the print parameters with FM GET_PRINT_RARAMETERS
    pass the parameters (you can change them if you like) to
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON PARAMETERS your_parameters NO DIALOG
    endif.

  • ALV last 10 columns are truncating in background mode

    I am using Reuse_alv_list_display function module and running the report in the background mode, the spool is generating fine but the problem is that the last 10 columns of the report are truncating.what will be the possible solution.

    The default maximum line width of the spool is 255 characters which means anything more the 255 will be truncated, To display more the 255 characters you have to do two things:
    1] select a printer format which outputs more than 255 characters for eg x_65_512 or x_65_1023. If you cannot find any printer which has these formats then you have to ask the basis guys to create Z format for you like Z_65_1023.
    2] After you use the above format of the printer when you display the spool there is an option of "DISPLAY IN MAXIMUM WIDTH" in the tool bar. Choose that it will show you the entire output.

  • What's the coolest, slickest way to present multiple ALV reports?

    Greetings and good day, everyone.
    Okay, I'm working on an update program, and the users have identified at least three different reports they would like coming out of this thing.  One report is a list of transactions that fail internal logic checking, the second report is a list of transactions that pass internal logic checking but fail to update via a BAPI, and a third report is a list of transactions that pass checks and process correctly (i.e. update the database) via the BAPI.
    At first, still being a newbie, I was wondering how I was going to create multiple ALV reports.  I know I could do this using the WRITE statement, writing each report one after the other, but they have asked for the ALV report so they can do all the ad-hoc manipulating, sorting, etc. that ALV provides.
    I came up with these options:
    1.  Instead of filling my single screen with the container control for an ALV report, as I usually do, this time I could put three containers on the screen.  However, I know that cramps space, and I don't know if they'll be able to adjust or move things around other than scrolling.
    2.  Display a single ALV report on the screen, but have buttons somehow on the top that somehow take the user to other screens for the other reports.
    3.  First give the user a screen with all the buttons for the reports.  They choose one, and the ALV report displays.  They can click back to return to this screen, then choose a different report.
    Nobody else in the office has done anything like this yet using the ALV, so I've got a chance to break some new ground internally and do something slick.  Which option is best, and if so, do you have examples or general guidelines of how I do it?  I've not had dialog programming, although I do understand the concepts from VB/Delphi experience over 10 years ago.  I think I lean toward option 2, but I figured this couldn't be new ground in the SAP world and surely someone's done exactly this sort of thing.
    Please help!  ALL helpful responses, as always, are awarded points!  Thanks so much!
    Dave

    Dave,
    These are all good suggestions.  I would just remember to keep in mind when designing your report two different things.
    1.  Can your program be run in foreground or background?  If it has to be run in background due to data volumes you will lose all interactive capabilities of ALV.  You might also not be able to do three different ALVs on the screen in background.
    2.  I am not sure if I understand your option 3 but if you are talking about the user selecting the options before the load the data, they might have to attempt to load the data multiple times to get all of the report.
    My recommendation ( I think somebody already mentioned this) is to have a single ALV with a column on your report that the user can then sort or filter by.  This way you are not limited to a program that has to be run in foreground.

  • Why can't we use GUI_Download in background mode...........

    Hi experts as per the requirement my program should run at specific time in background mode, it need to upload the Personal numbers from the input file and for those personal numbers extract the data from multiple tables. but this report shd run in background.
    and download the output in the form of flat file.
    as i'm running in background mode can't use the F.M GUI_Download and GUI_Upload.
    can any one guide me how to solve this issue and why can't we use these F.M. if we can't use then what is the alternative to run in background mode.

    A program that runs in background mode doesn't have any connection to a frontend. After all, you can schedule it to run at a time where your frontend computer is not running.
    In this case you have to load your files on the application server (or a mount point) and use the FMs C13Z_FILE_DOWN(UP)LOAD_ASCII(BINARY)

  • Using a report layout in background mode

    Is is possible to apply a saved report layout like you apply to the alv grid to a csv file run in background mode?

    Hi Cynthia ,
    I can figure out one way :
    SUBMIT ZREPORT TO SAP-SPOOL LAYOUT 'ZLAYOUT'
    VIA SELECTION-SCREEN
    DESTINATION 'locl'
    KEEP IN SPOOL 'X'
    IMMEDIATELY 'X'
    WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
    AND RETURN.
    This will return the report in your layout to the spool and can be downloaded as well.
    Thanks

  • Export in background mode

    Does anyone know how to run an export in background mode for windows ?
    Normally in unix I would simply nohup the expdp command.
    Also what is the purpose of being able to reattach to a job in Data Pump - that in itself would suggest the export is already running as a background process - so what does this mean for the command prompt window where you launch expdp from ? Can you break out of this command prompt and the export will continue in the background ?
    Also is there anyway to monitor how far your export has gone ? At the moment all I am looking at is the contents of dba_datapump_jobs which simply tells me if the job is still executing or not
    thanks,
    Jim

    Jim,
    Export does run in a background process. There are actually at least 3 processes running.
    1. You have the client, which is where you run your expdp/impdp command.
    2. You have the MCP processes which is a Data Pump process
    3. You have a WORKER processes (or more if you use parallel) that are Data Pump processes.
    I always use LINUX, but I think it works the same for Windows. Once you have the job running, you can type a CTL-C and you will get to an IMPDP> or EXPDP> prompt. This allows you to do other commands. One is to exit the client process. You can also stop the job or kill the job. Try it and type HELP at one of those prompts.
    At this same prompt, you can type STATUS will will give you some idea on what is being worked on.
    Some of the reasons you would want to attach to a job is
    1. You previously exited and want to reattach to change something.
    2. You left it running while you were in the office and now you are home and want to see the status. (you can have multiple clients attached to the same data pump job.
    3. Your job stopped for some reason (power outage, failure, etc.) and you want to restart it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Passing Variables Between Programs in Background Mode

    Hello,
    Can you pls. suggest how I can pass a variable from one program to the other while in the background mode.
    The Export and Import parameters do not work while in the background.

    Hi Amit,
    EXPORT/IMPORT works in Background mode provided the export & import both are done in background.
    Refer this program: it has export/import in background

    Hi!
    You didn't find answer for this, because it is not possible. If you run your program in background, it is running on the server, and does not have any connection to your local machine. That's why you can't upload/download in background mode.
    You might try to address somehow your local PC, with its IP or MAC address, but I don't think does this task worth so much time.
    Run your program in online mode, or if you want to run it in background, then upload your file into the SAP server.

  • BDC is not working in background mode and working fine in Foreground mode

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a BDC in SHDB for the transaction code:CWBQM for creating and deleting the record and converted the BDC recording into the program using call transaction. It is working fine in both foreground and background. When I given the same program for users testing one for the user was able to delete the records but Creation is not working in the same BDC. He is able to create the same records in another PC and the problem is only in that PC and only during the creation of the record. When I change the mode to 'A' mode for testing and request the user to execute and it is working fine the records created successfully. What could be the issue ?
    Thanks,
    Hema

    Hello,
    While recording BDC in SHDB try setting "Simulate background mode" flag and give a try.

  • Submit + LIST_FROM_MEMORY in background mode

    Hi,
    I need to capture the output results from standard program RFKORK00 and hence I designed a wrapper program that calls the standard program.
    RFKORK00 generates a report output and I am able to capture the results correctly using the FM LIST_FROM_MEMORY and FM LIST_FROM_ASCI in foreground mode. But when I try to run the same job in background, the FM LIST_FROM_MEMORY does not return any results (I have checked the log by inserting information messages at various points in the program).
    I have searched for similar contexts here on SDN and everyone is in agreement that LIST_FROM_MEMORY would work well even in the background mode too but I am unable to find the fault in this case. Could you please help, attached is the code -

    Well, RFKORK00 is indeed a print program that triggers spool in the background.
    I gave up playing around memory id, instead I am using the following code to check whether a spool was created in table TSP03.
    CLEAR r_rqcretime[].
        r_rqcretime-sign    = 'I'.
        r_rqcretime-option  = 'BT'.
        CALL FUNCTION 'IB_CONVERT_INTO_TIMESTAMP'
          EXPORTING
            i_datlo     = sy-datlo
            i_timlo     = sy-uzeit
            i_tzone     = 'EST'
          IMPORTING
            e_timestamp = v_tzntstmps.
        r_rqcretime-low = v_tzntstmps.
    **Submit job with changed variant
        SUBMIT (p_prog)
          USING SELECTION-SET c_variant
          EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
          AND RETURN.
        WAIT UP TO 5 SECONDS.
    **Fetch the spool number generated by the program
        CALL FUNCTION 'IB_CONVERT_INTO_TIMESTAMP'
          EXPORTING
            i_datlo     = sy-datlo
            i_timlo     = sy-uzeit
            i_tzone     = 'EST'
          IMPORTING
            e_timestamp = v_tzntstmps.
        r_rqcretime-high = v_tzntstmps.
        CONDENSE: r_rqcretime-low,r_rqcretime-high.
        CONCATENATE r_rqcretime-low   '00' INTO r_rqcretime-low.
        CONCATENATE r_rqcretime-high  '00' INTO r_rqcretime-high.
        APPEND r_rqcretime.
        SELECT SINGLE rqident FROM tsp01
                      INTO v_rqident
                     WHERE rqowner = sy-uname
                       AND rqcretime IN r_rqcretime.
