Multiple component architecture: shared rendering ?
Hi, I'm working with JSF for the purpose of redefining a monolythic web application through components. Each component should be defined a self-standing brick, made itself by a set of JSF pages+ beans + resources.
Now, I could read that frames are not adviced to be used with JSF, nevertheless my application should endup with my components sharing the same page. E.i. a tree component, showing a OO db structure on the left side, together with a result table on the right side and so on. Both should be autonomous components, developed separately with JSF but capable of sharing a single page within the view if required. I know about subviews and inclusion, but the point concerns cooperation and shared rendering. In the above example, both components should be able to roll in through multiple pages separately, while AFAIK subviewing is a fairly static kind of inclusion.
I guess it should be a common issue for the web, can anybody suggest an approach from the architecture point of view ? Is shared rendering from multiple components life-cycles possible ?

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by "COMP". I have referred to 3 components in my question:
COMP1
COMP2
APP
I assumed you mean "APP" when you say "COMP" but this can't be right - you say:
so in COMP go to the component usage in the heirarchy and select the usage COMP1_USAGE and inside this there is a entity called as interfacecontroller_usage click on that... and then in the controller usage add the COMP as usage ..so that the nodes of COMP will be available for mapping.. then do the mapping for the node of COMP1_USAGE with the COMP.
When I go to APP and to the Component Usage -> COMP1 I cannot navigate any further ("Operation not supported by the selected object").
We have SAP_BASIS release 700 level 12 and I'm just not seeing what you describe...

Multiple component view in integration scenario
Hi
I have <b>multiple component views</b> defined in my integration scenario.
When i try to configure these component view in Integration directory in integration scenarion configurator, if I select the component view i want to apply then the systems give a message " All configuration settings made in the current component view will be lost".
This means that if i have configured the first component view and then try to configure the second component view then setting of first view get lost.
i want to have all the configure all the component views in the integration scenario.
Please provide some pointers for the issue.

When you have multiple component views in the Integration scenario, you would ideally want to create separate configuration scenarios for each component view.
So for eg. if you have four component views, 4 different configuration scenarios can be created using the integration scenario configurator. The only thing is that you would have to repeat the integration scenario configurator steps[Tools->Transfer Integration Scenario from Integration Repository] 4 times, once for each component view. If you notice, you can change the name of the configuration scenario each time you start afresh.
The message is a warning that if you go back during the integration scenario configuration process[the first step is the selection of the component view for which you want the configuration scenario] and change the component view then all the changes made thus far would be lost.
For e.g if you are in step 3[Assign Services, I think] and then go back and change the component view, all the changes made for the original component view selected would be lost.

ADF UIX: How to use MessageCheckbox to trigger a component to be rendered?
I have two UIX component:

and messageStyledText id="mst_TextChange".
I want messageStyledText to be showed if messageCheckBox was checked.
I want to know how to set the ârenderedâ property of the MessageStyleText.

Assuming that the values for Servicelocal are 'Y' and null, what you could do is use EL to define the rendered component as follows:
rendered="${!empty bindings.Servicelocal.inputValue}"
or alternatively:
rendered="${empty bindings.Servicelocal.inputValue ? false : true}"
I'm writing this from home so can't check the above but you get the idea.
Note the use of ".inputValue" to retrieve the actual value of Servicelocal.
I note your use of the <firePartialAction> tag in the <messageCheckBox>. Please note I recently found a bug (I've raised this with Oracle Support) where the <firePartialAction> causes the running page to ignore any user input for some seconds (5 sec?) when fired from a <messageCheckBox>. Your mileage may vary.

MacBook shows up multiple times under 'Shared' in finder
My MacBook keeps showing up multiple times under 'Shared' in the Finder sidebar. All sharing services are turned of in System Preferences. The number in the computer name is automatically added. When I change the computer name to another name, all existing 'ghost computers' stay there in the sidebar. How do I get rid of these?
Known bug. Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

How can I create multiple component instances for one component usage.
I'm using the following code for creating a single component instance for specific component usage:

To create another instance of the same component you need to embed the same component under the Used Components more then once. For Example if you have Componet A to which you want to embed Component B then under "Used Components" of Component A add component B twice. -
Multiple versions of Shared Variables on same network
I have 2 seperate reactors working on the same network each deploying ~50 shared variables (different names on each process) communicating with LV 8.5RT running on FP hardware. One of the reactors is requested for new features and to be upgraded. Is it possible to heve 2 different shared variable engines (8.5 and 2010) and versions on the same network and client computer, or am I asking for trouble.

Multiple component renderer in the advanced datagrid in the same column
Hi
All I want is to render multiple Components in the same column based on the rowIndex value.
Let me know if it is possible. Right now I am able to render the same components in the multiple rows in the same column.

Can you now have multiple Itunes accounts sharing content on one computer?
Hi - I was trying to find this information on line but cannot.
The last "big" Itunes update (11.2?) prevented multiple Itunes accounts from sharing content on one computer. Well, you can, but with consequences. For example, my husband purchased a movie rental with his Itunes account on our computer when he logged on to Itunes, but then I could not download any Itunes content for 30 days when I logged on to my account. I no longer purchase any content from Apple because of this. I was hoping this feature has been discontinued – it prevents households from purchasing Itunes. We never pirate or steal any content at all. In fact, this feature forces us out of the Itunes universe to purchase movie rentals and music elsewhere.
Not just trying to complain, really. Legitimately want to find out if this rights policy still exists before we both try to rent or purchase anything from Itunes.

No. The 90 day limit ONLY applies to redownloading purchases from iTunes..
So if she were to redownload purchases from the father's account then she'd have to wait 90 days to redownload form her own account. and the computer can be authorized for multiple iTunes account (pretty sure it's 5) . You don't need to later reauthorize for first account if you authorize for a different account.

Multiple Windows Accounts, Shared Music, Different User Settings...
So here is the background. I have a single computer that that we run iTunes on and purchase all of our content on using a single iTunes account. We keep all of this managed in a single iTunes library. My kids, wife and I all have iPods or iPhones that are synchronized with this library all using the same account on the PC called "iTunes".
Each person in my house has their own account on this Windows Vista PC for a variety of reasons (security being one). I would like for each person to be able to log into their own account, fire up iTunes and get all the same music from the shared folder of music, but allow them to manage independant playlists and song ratings.
In addition, when a new song is purchased, it should show up for each user automatically when they launch iTunes on their account. In other software I've used in the past, this is done with watchlists (folders that the software keeps an eye on and automatically adds new music from), but I've never seen a feature like this in iTunes.
Given the amount of content I have in my library (16GB) having multiple libraries with multiple copies of the content is not ideal and seems very wasteful.
I was hopeful when v.9 came out that the "Home Share" feature might help out, but it does not. You cannot run iTunes on two accounts at the same time on the same PC (a problem most other software overcame back when Windows 98 came out) and iTunes has to be running on both in order to perform the share/sync. This also could have been solved if the Home Share features were run as a service instead of natively inside iTunes.
As best as I can tell after researching the Internet on my issue, I still don't think iTunes can do these simple things that other software figured out a long time ago. So I may be asking more for new features in iTunes v.10 than asking for an answer to my problem. But if someone else has figured this out, please let me know. I will be pleasantly surprised!Thanks for pointing me to the iTunes Folder Watch program. It looks like this will solve my immediate needs. It's a little clunky in spots, but does handle adding new files very well. And it only cost about $10 to get the fully functioning version with the automatic monitoring in the background.
I copied the iTunes library files to each account, setup a watch folder that points to the location of the iTunes library content and all the music syncs up perfectly without duplicates. I have yet to test the applications, but music, movies, TV Shows, audiobooks, and podcasts all work fine.
If anyone else is considering this product, just make sure you double check your file location in the iTune settings to make sure each account is pointing to the same location and is organizing the content in the same way or else the individual account libraries will fight against each other to organize all the content where it is configured to put it. Copying the library files isn't enough since some of these settings are in the Windows Registry.
I made this mistake at first. I had all the accounts pointing to the same folder, but one of them (the original) had the "Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization" turned on which categorizes all content into folders based on type such as music, movies, podcasts, etc. Since the others were organizing just based on artist and album this caused the accounts to try to reorganize the files when Folder Watcher would tell it there were new files to manage.
All in all, this solves most of my concerns, but I'm still surprised Apple hasen't added this natively into the iTunes product. Especially when this guy figured out how to write the software to do it and is only charging about 10 bucks to do it. Well I hope this guy makes a million bucks off his little product bacause he surely deserves it! -
ITunes on multiple computers with shared external library?
Hey guys. I thought I might pick everyone's brain here. I just purchased a MacBook Air with just 128GB SSD but that should be fine as far as local storage. I have an iTunes library that is over 350GB and it grows everyday so even the 256GB storage wouldn't have been enough for me. I have multiple computers and also have an iPod, iPad and iPhone. They all sync via my MacBook through an external hard drive right now and this is the only computer I currently sync to.
Since I have a Mac Mini as well as a iMac, I want to see if there is a way that I can wirelessly share the external hard drive with the itunes library in it and all the computers would be hooked up to it going off that one source and itunes library. I buy music from not only itunes so I import music all the time to itunes and also want to make sure that it will update to the computers that are connected to the library automatically as I wouldn't want any inconsistency's when I need to sync one of my devices to one of my computers.
I hope there is a way to do this, and if there is can you please help me out and explain or point me in the right direction at least to where I can find out about this?

both Macs can access the same library file, however, only one at a time !
to do that, you would ideally have the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) on the external. then, on one Mac after the other, launch iTunes while holding the option key, click on +choose library+ when prompted, and select the iTunes folder on the external.
or, you could have two separate libraries and keep those in sync using third party tools such as Syncopation, TuneRanger or SuperSync.
for purchases from the iTunes store, you could set up _*Home Sharing*_ - it can be configured to automatically transfer new purchases to home shared libraries.
Can I create a script to have MBP1 always save the iTunes Library file on the shared hard drive?

We have Windows Server 2012 and clients using Windows 8. We've been having some printer problems for awhile now that I haven't been able to figure out for the life of me. The main problem is the fact that printers are installed on computers automatically
once the drivers are installed. The side-effect of multiple instances of each printer showing up is very annoying but I suspect fixing the initial problem will resolve this secondary one.
Here is the rundown:
We add the shared printers on logon to the clients using the GPO thus installing the drivers locally.
Whenever the spooler on the client is restarted with the drivers installed, all of the
shared printers that were previously installed get duplicated 5 more times (for a total of 6 instances of each shared printer) on the "Devices and Printers" page. This happens
all the time.
Removing them only fixes the issue temporarily, as soon as the spooler or computer is restarted, it seems these shared printers are somehow found on the network and the duplicates return.
Two of these printers are located on different clients, installed locally and shared while the other three are all installed on a server and shared through it. The issue is the same on all of them.
Cleaning the spooler completely (registry and files from C:\system32\spool) fixes the issue temporarily as well since, as soon as the drivers are reinstalled, the issue occurs again.
I've tried many things (disabling the GPO, editing the GPO, printer shares, registry, etc.) and searched tirelessly online for a cause and solution but I'm stumped. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?

Update #1: I just tried adding the NoNetCrawling option in the registry found in this article -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320138/en-us
I couldn't find the same for Windows 8 unfortunately. I also tried disabling network discovery and all other sharing options to no avail.
Update #2: I tried isolating the computer to a different subnet and restarting the spooler and, sure enough, the issue didn't occur. This proves that the issue is network share related. Also, as soon as I change the IP back to the regular domain
subnet one, the multiple printer instances re-appeared again.
Update #3: I just tried doing the same thing but on the server where the printers are installed and shared and, sure enough, despite being in a different subnet, the issue occurred. This leads me to believe there is a setting on this server at fault.
Question is, which one?We have deployed a brand new Active Directory domain for a customer. ALL the servers without exception are Windows 2012 R2 and all clients are Windows 8.1 32bit VDI clients.
The issue that we have is around network printers.
We are deploying 4 printers from a Windows 2012 R2 Server via the print management/Deploy Printer and assigning that to a GPO. The printers are deployed to the Computers which should mean that the users get all 4 printers which they then should be allowed
to set their default and personal settings for that printer.
Our printers are deployed like this:
1. Created security group
2. Assigned VDI computers to the security group
3. Created GPO to reflect security group
4. Modify GPO to do security filtering based on computer group membership
5. Deployed 4 x printers through Print Management to the GPO on a per machine basis
However, on the users Devices and Printers screen we are not seeing the 4 printers. For some users
they see duplicates of all 4 printers so e.g they can have upwards of 8 or more. Other users have no printers displayed whatsoever. The next time they log off or restart they then have a different amount of printers displayed.
If they try and set the default then it will set and the next time they check the default may have moved to another printer even without logging off or back on.
Now, where this gets strange is within an application such as MS Word 2013 or Notepad if they use the file and print menu the printers will be listed, even if the user has no printers displayed in Devices and Printers. If the users selects a printer then they
can then print OK.
If we check HKCU\Printers||Connections then the CORRECT 4 printers are showing as to what is being deployed via the GPO so I know that the Windows 8.1 terminals are receiving the correct printers from the GPO.
To try and correct this over the course of the week we have deployed the printers via Group Policy Preferences to the user and then the PC to no avail. Currently we are using the Print management\Deployed Printers to deploy all 4 printers to the computer via
the Computer GPO.
I believe that this issue is related to the display somehow in Devices and Printers rather than a GPO or print server issue as we can see via the registry the clients are receiving the 4 correct mentioned printers as shown in the registry.
FYI: We only have around 30 users and all users are getting this problem. All users are receiving the same GPO's and have the same few apps installed, Office 2013, Adobe Reader etc.
What we want is for the computers to receive all 4 printers. All users should be able to use all 4 printers but the user should be able to select their particular default, depending where they are located or what they are printing that particular day. Their
particular default should persist after reboot. (We have 2 x Copiers and 2 x HP Laserjets) All users have redirected documents and desktop but the rest of the profile is on the VDI and persists after their reboot. The profile is not roaming as the user is
assigned a particular VDI.
After a week of scratching our heads with this we are open to suggestions and any would be appreciated.
We have tried following the issues on this thread to no avail either as they still return. -
Multiple APEX instances sharing the same Oracle Home?
Can someone tell me if it is possible to have multiple APEX installations where the database instances are sharing the same Oracle Home? If so, how would this be set up?
So, if I have development and test running on the same home, I want a separate APEX instance for each. We can do this when different Oracle homes are used (separate httpd running) but not for the same home.

Multiple facts with shared/non shared dimensions
Hello All,
I have a scenario where we are using multiple facts in OBIEE. Fact1(Inventory Onhand) is joined to all shared dimensions, and Fact2( Forecasting Values) is joined to few shared dimesnions so the joins are like:
Fact1 with Dim1, Dim2, Dim3, Dim4, Dim5, Dim6..
Fact2 with Dim1,Dim3, Dim5
I have given the physical joins in the physical layer, later in the logical layer I pulled the fact2 in to to the fact1(multiple LTS) and then set the aggregattion levels for the non conformed dimensions. This was working fine for me but the customer was not happy with this. He doesnt want to have different levels of data in to a single fact.
What are the allternate possible solutions to implement this in the busines layer?
Any ideas/inputs are highly appreciated.

I have done the same as explained above. But here the issue is we are getting duplicate data.
For Ex: if i have one common dimmension attribute and two non confirmed dimension attributes with a measure. For non confirmed dimension have different value and for all these values the common dimension attribute is same. Then the common attribute will repeat for all non confirmed dimensions.so, here automatically the Corresponding measures also repeating.
Common Attr non-Confirm Attr1 non-Cnfirm Attr2 measure
123 abc xyz 1000
123 bac yzx 1000
123 pqr mno 1000
If you observe the above exapmple the confirm dime attr is same for both non confirm dime attrs, so the measure values also repeating here. If i see the data base i have measure data only for ABC record. For Remaining two records it is 0, but here the value 1000 is showing for remaining two records as well.
Please let me know if any one face this issue earlier.

I see methods with params of IRuntimeNode.But how to get ComponentSet from IRuntimeNode.

This is a common challenge for those using Configurator Extensions with multiple instantiation for the first time. The problem is that the CIO's representation of the structure for multiply-instantiable Components differs slightly from what both Configurator Developer users and Configurator Runtime users see in those respective applications. Multiply-instantiable Components are not direct children of the Model in which they're defined. Internally, there is an entity that sits between the parent Model and the instantiable Components; that intermediate entity is the ComponentSet object you've found in the CIO documentation.
If the name of your multiply-instantiable Component is "My Component", then its ComponentSet may be accessed simply by calling getChildByName("My Component") on its parent Model; a List of the instantiated Components may be accessed with the ComponentSet's getChildComponentNodes() method, and instances may be added and deleted using its add() and delete() methods.

Multiple row column-sharing with GridBadLayout does not work as expected
I was trying to figure out why I could not initially accomplish the following with a GridBagLayout:
Row0: 0000011111
Row1: 1111122222
Row2: 2222233333The above is supposed to be 3 JLabels on three different rows:
The 1st row has a single JLabel starting in column 0 with a width of 2, extending it to column 1.
The 2nd row has a single JLabel starting in column 1 with a width of 2, extending it to column 2.
The 3rd row has a single JLabel starting in column 2 with a width of 2, extending it to column 3.
The entire grid is 4 columns and 3 rows total.
Below I have two examples where I attempted the above. Only the 2nd example produces the desired effect. The 1st code example ends up putting both the Row 0 and Row 1 JLabel in the same column. This was surprising because I thought the GridBagLayout would give each column contained by a control enough weight to actually make those columns exist.
Here is what my first code example below produces:
Row0: 0000011111
Row1: 1111122222
Row2: 2222233333The first two JLabels, 0000011111 and 1111122222, appear in the same column, and the 3rd JLabel appears in the seemingly 2nd column. This was confusing to me which is the point of this whole post.
In order to gain the desired effect, I had to place 4 blank dummy empty JLabel components in a non-visible Row 0 of the grid. I did this for all 4 columns of that invisible row 0. The row is non-visible because the JLabel have no text or output. After adding this non-visible Row 0, all of the original mentioned Rows 0 through 2 become Rows 1 through 2 respectively.
For example:
Row0: iiiiiIIIIIiiiiiIIIII
Row1: 0000011111
Row2: 1111122222
Row3: 2222233333The above shows an inserted Row 0 with invisible labels that are not seen, but they seem to give weight to each column, allowing each to exist. Without doing this, as mentioned, the first code example (shown below) fails. The second example (also below) works, so it appears that putting the invisible controls into the first row, one in each column, somehow gives enough weight to each column to "establish" the column more so than otherwise.
The big question I have is why didn't the first example work?
I mean, in that example, I'm giving each JLabel equal weight, and each one takes up a width of 2 columns, so why doesn't the JLabel in the second row end up in column 1? Instead, both the original row 0 and row 1 JLabels appear in what looks like column 0, the same column. Does anyone know why this happened?
The invisible control solution is fine but I'm just curious why it wasn't as intuitive as it should have been. The only thing I can come up with is that the weight of the 1st and 2nd JLabel (row 0 and 1) got combined in some fashion which combined them into column 1 which end up looking like column 0 since 0 somehow looses all weight. (???)

}I think I figured out the general reason for the problem based on a quick trace through of the GridBadLayout code in a simple example, and I wanted to share my findings in case they may be useful to anyone else. I felt there were some concepts gleaned from the source code that don't appear reinforced with documentation or, more importantly, in tutorials or books I checked. That's why I wanted to share my findings with this simple yet perplexing example.
This example is very much like the one in my original post except it is more simple and only uses two JLabels.
I created a grid with the following settings:

JLabel2,gridx=1,gridy=1,gridwidth=2,weightx=1.0Using the character '1' for JLabel1, and the character '2' for JLabel2, and 'x' for an "empty" grid cell, the above gives me the following simple conceptual layout:

x22But the 'x' cell columns don't receive any weight, so things actually appear as follows:

22Internally, GridBagLayout (GBL), is really producing the following:

x22But since the 'x' locations take no weight, they therefore get no size, so both JLabels appear as though they are in the first and only column.
From what I can see, it doesn't really matter what I do, I'll never be able to produce the following effect with just two JLabels:

x22I cannot do the above with just two JLabel components and a GridBagLayout. The reason is that the GridBagLayout, while it does define a "grid" of rows and columns, the grid is not a grid that actually relates to what is displayed. It's really a grid that defines what I'll refer to as "weight collisions" or "weight pools." If two components share, say, a grid column, their weights will combine with respect to that column. But the total size of the grid doesn't play a role in enforcing that some sort of grid display is maintained. The grid can possibly do that, but it would probably be safer to view that result as a side-effect produced by using the "weight pools" created by the grid itself.
In the above simple example, JLabel1 ends up giving gridx 1 (0 being first) its full weight of 1.0. The gridx 0 column receive zero weight from JLabel1. What happens is the code in GridBagLayout sees that there are no presently assigned weights to column 0 and it simply assigns all remaining unassigned weight of JLabel1 to JLabel1's last, right-most in this case, gridx column. This means that gridx 1 gets the full 1.0.
By contrast, though, when processing JLabel2, the GridBagLayout sees the previously assigned 1.0 to gridx 1 (JLabel1's right-most grid column) and it ends up assigning all of JLabel2's weight to that same grid location, gridx 1. In this case, even though JLabel2 supposedly spans through to gridx 2, the actual gridx 2 column gets 0 weight from JLabel2 and therefore gets no width.
The result is that both JLabel1 and JLabel2 give 100% of their weight to gridx column 1 (what I called above a "weight pool" rather than a grid location), and both gridx 0 and gridx 2 receive 0 weight and I'm guessing appear without any size. What's odd about this is that even though JLabel1 starts at gridx=0, it really doesn't draw itself anywhere but starting at gridx=1. Likewise, even though JLabel2 draws itself supposedly from gridx=1 through to gridx=2, it doesn't really go into gridx=2 because gridx=2 doesn't get any width.
In fact, given the code in GridBagLayout, it doesn't matter how much weight I give to either JLabel, all 100% of the weight will end up in gridx 1, the "center" grid location. The only way to get columnar distribution is to create other components to force the GridBagLayout to see individual columns which match the "grid." When I do this, the columns allow me to create the JLabels in a fashion where they intent/stagger, where a JLabel can start at a "column" location that is in the middle of another JLabel.
Given this, I've come to the conclusion that it's not worthwhile to look at the GBL "grid" as a grid that propagates grid-like visual locations. It's more like the grid exists during the computation of weights which end up determining the true columns and rows that will visually exist, which may well not be anything like the grid locations one might visualize when looking at the constraints used.
I think it's unfortunate that many examples and tutorials don't reinforce this concept with simple examples that help one grasp this easily. Most examples I see actually can fool a user into thinking a grid is a true grid in that positions represent visual locations, or that a control spanning into a grid column means that weight will be (at least) partially distributed there.
You very often won't see the problem I'm describing above when you have dialogbox-like alignment of components which most tutorials and examples utilize. For example, if I take the same example as above, but intent JLabel so that it's gridx is 2, not 1, then both JLabels will not be sharing a single grid column so their weights won't collide. In such a case, one might be misled into thinking that a GridBagLayout's grid is truly providing row/col locations when it's not really doing that. Instead, in this latter case, one is really gaining that effect because certain unintuitive weight collisions. which would produce unexpected results, are being avoided.
I thought weightx values would give a weight equally to all gridx columns that a component spans but that doesn't seem to be the case here. In fact, it's not even a components first column in my simple example above. GBL causes JLabel1 to given all its weight to gridx=1 (and nothing to gridx=0) while GBL causes JLabel2 to give all its weight to gridx=1 (and nothing to gridx=2). In one case, JLabel1, all weight goes to its right-most spanned-to column, while with JLabel2, it goes to JLabel2's entire first gridx location.
I guess this is what makes GridBagLayout (GBL) unintuitive. But I don't think it's so much unintuitive as it is probably not well documented. When you look at the source code, it explains stuff which should be in the docs. In fact, not one single book I saw gave any help in solving this problem. I'm guessing this is largely because folks use GBL through trial and error until they get what they want, and perhaps they don't often need to indent halfway as I'm trying to do with GBL in the above example. If a lot of components are aligned, the results are not as unexpected. I'd say, though, that even in those not-so-confusing cases, GBL can troublesome without knowing its grid is all about a grid of weight pools which may or may not produce a visual grid depending on all components' constraint settings.
