Multiple connections from 6i
IS it possible to connect to oracle and an ODBC connection simultaneously from one data block?
Any suggestions?
I figured that the NAT item did not apply, but with some of the weird things that have gone on with the concentrator I just never know.
The problem is how PPTP works and that it is not smart enough to allow the multiple connections from the same ip. I had to move this client site over to IPSEC using the Cisco VPN client. This works cleanly and actually seems better then the PPTP connection, but that is besides the point. The whole issue was a part of PPTP that I did not know about. I had to open a TAC case for someone at Cisco to tell me this in about 15 seconds.

I'm using WL Server V8.1 sp4 and have successfully deployed my Connector
Module (RAR) using the Builder tool.
Within the Builder I can specify default connection properties in the
deployment descriptor. What I want though is the ability to define
multiple connection factories with different properties without having
to deploy/redeploy the RAR for every different connection configuration.
I can't believe there is a 1-to-1 mapping between the RAR and connection
factory settings. I've seen that there's a <ra-link-ref> tag available
in the weblogic-ra.xml but I can't see how to use this?
Any advice on how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

I've had some success but am still confused by the way WLS requires
second and subsequent connection factories to be created.
It appears you create a CF within the weblogic-ra.xml deployment
descriptor using the <map-config-property> tags. All other properties
are inherited from the settings within ra.xml (we have them set blank).
If there is no weblogic-ra.xml then a default is created at RAR deploy
time. We can modify settings and redeploy the resource adapter using the
supplied Builder tool. There appears to be a limit on what is possible
with this tool to create CF instances though. It doesn?t seem possible
to enter config properties here to appear within the weblogic-ra.xml.
There are fields to allow entry of the CF name and the RA link reference
though. (This seems strange that it doesn?t provide full flexibility).
In order to create a CF a certain amount of manual work is required. You
need to hand modify the weblogic-ra.xml to specify the connection
properties you want. Then the file has to be added to RAR file for
deployment using the jar command.
A second or subsequent CF must also be prepared in a similar way ? the
properties are defined in weblogic-ra.xml but this time there is no need
to redeploy a complete RAR file. We can link to the defaults and classes
provided in the original deployment. This is done using the
<ra-link-ref> and specifying the connection-factory-name of the original
RAR. This new RAR only needs ra.xml and weblogic-ra.xml to deploy so we
can remove any jar files containing code. However, this cannot be done,
it seems, from the Builder tool.
I am concerned it seem to be a lot of manual work and, in particular,
editing of the rar files we provide to our customers. Does anyone know
of a better way of achieving multiple CF instances without going through
this process?

RFC Connection From SAP to Iseries server

I wish you can help me wtih this issue.
We are running ECC 6.0 on iseries v5r3m0.
We are trying to connect to an other non-SAP V5r1M0 system. We are using OSS note 146624 for this purpose.
Our first problem is that we cannot copy pgm files to a V5R1 system from V5R3 system. This can be solved with manual extraction kernel.
However our problem is that we are getting an "SQL Error 0" short dump when we start abap report. What ever the entry in DBCON table is we get this short dump.
Did anyone configured RFC connection to a non-SAP Iseries system? What methos should we use?

Apart from the redbook I can't find any documentation about rfc with iseries and that gives some examples but no real explanation about what you are supost to do
I followed the rfc example "ILE RPG evoked from ABAP" and I can get it to work, as long as I ask for only one parameter from the ABAP.
Do you know how to get multiple parameters from ABAP? Just repeating the RfcGetData with different parameters doesn't work. The ABAP will cancel with "no data to receive" on the second parameter.
Also do you know how to create a rfc-trace for these requests?

How do I attach multiple files from the pages app to my email
I'm trying to attach multiple documents from the "Pages" app to my email. I'm using an ipad. It is only letting me attach one at a time and send each document as individual emails. I would like to be able to send one email with all 4 documents at the same time. Any suggestions?
Another thought- When I go to my gmail app to compose an email, I have the following to send:

But there is not a paperclip to click to attach any documents either. Is this all connected and something in my ipad settings needs to be adjusted?You can only attach one file at a time to email in the Pages app
You cannot attach files in the mail app. If you want to email a file, you do it from within the app where the file is saved such as what you did with Pages. -

Multiple connections for the same user.
I have EJB A and EJB B. A and B use a JCA connector that
I have written. I have matchManagedConnections set so that if user U has not used EJB A or EJB B, then a new ManagedConnection is created. If user U has used A or B then that user is given a new virtual connection created from an existing ManagedConnection. Now the problem is that if user U access' A for the first time and then access' B BEFORE A has closed the connection, then a new ManagedConnection is created for user U. Therefore in this case user U gets 2 ManagedConnections to the EIS that we are using. Eventually one of the ManagedConnections is distroyed but I would like to eliminate this in the first place. How do a get Weblogic to see that a user has a ManagedConnection before that user is done with the connection.You can't have multiple roles on multiple connection, as you are connecting to the same website (different sub directories) ultimately.

We're experimenting with using webcache to load balance between multiple applications servers running OC4J forms processes.
We currently have one machine with infrastructure and mid-tier (BI & Forms) installed, which is being used for the webcache functionality, this is load balancing between 2 other servers each of which just have the mid-tier (BI & Forms) installation
In order to get this to work, I had to follow the instructions in the Forms deployment guide : http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/web.1012/b14032/tuning.htm#sthref707
The main gist of this is that you need to set the following in the orion-web.xml file in order that the sessions are maintained:

This all works fine in most cases.
The problem I am having is if I do one of the following on the client machine:
1) From IE6 / IE7 run a copy of a forms application. Then open a new window using the "New Window" menu option, and attempt to run another forms application.
2) In IE7 or Firefox 2.0 open a copy of the forms application, and then open a new tab and try and open another forms application.
If I try either of these I get a FRM-92101 error, and the following is displayed in the java console:
oracle.forms.net.ConnectionException: Connection from new browser window not supported
From trawling various forums (including metalink and otn) it looks like a problem with the way coockies are handled.
Unfortunately the usual workaround is to ensure that the session tracking option in the orion-web.xml file is disabled.
The problem is that I need this enabled in order for the load balancing to work.
Does anyone know of any other workarounds or patches that might help resolve this?
We're using Application server 10.1.2.0.2 running on windows 2003 servers.You were right. Carriage returns were stopping it from working (the document is laid out over separate lines, so I assumed it would make no difference...).
I've now managed to get it so the forms at least run, but they are all being run in the forms OC4J instance on the same machine as the OHS.
Has anyone actually managed to get this to work, or am I doing something wrong?
I did wonder if using an OHS instance on a machine with no forms installation would make any difference?
I had raised a support call via metalink on this subject, but they eventually came to the conclusion that the only way to do this is with a hardware load balancer (Despite several documents suggesting that webcache is the way to go (including the forms deployment manual)).
I'm at the point now of giving up and writing some custom scripts to do the job instead... -

72. This will allow services in your primary environment to find
services in your connected environment. However, there is a bug
reported on this feature which is fixed in 2F4 for the HP and H1 for all
other servers. The following is from Forte:
The connected environments bug that was fixed in 2F4 is #24282. The
problem
was in the nodemgr/name server source code and caused the following to
occur:
Service1 is in connected envs A and B.
Client has env A as primary, B as secondary.
Envmgr A dies before the client has ever made a call to Service1.
Afer env A is gone, client makes a call to Service1 which causes Envmgr
B to
seg fault.
You should upgrade your node manager/env manager nodes to 2F4. The 2F2
development and runtime clients are fully compatible with 2F4 servers.

environment resides geographically remote node and network bandwidth,
reliability are not good enough to include all the systems into single
environment.
Using Control Panel for doing this is not easy for those who are not
familiar with Windows. The end-user tend to use just single application
to access all necessary services.
I could consider two option to doing this:
1. Make some DOS batch command file to switch different environment
like, copying back/forward between environment repositories and
set up forte.ini for changing FORTE_NS_ADDRESS. After then, invoke
proper client partition(ftexec).
2. Duplicate necessary services among each environment.
But, these two options have many drawbacks in terms of system
management(option 1), performance(option 2) and others.
Has anybody good idea to implement this? Any suggestion would be
appreciated.

reported on this feature which is fixed in 2F4 for the HP and H1 for all
other servers. The following is from Forte:
The connected environments bug that was fixed in 2F4 is #24282. The
problem
was in the nodemgr/name server source code and caused the following to
occur:
Service1 is in connected envs A and B.
Client has env A as primary, B as secondary.
Envmgr A dies before the client has ever made a call to Service1.
Afer env A is gone, client makes a call to Service1 which causes Envmgr
B to
seg fault.
You should upgrade your node manager/env manager nodes to 2F4. The 2F2
development and runtime clients are fully compatible with 2F4 servers.

Hi, All!
Is there anybody has any idea to access multiple environments from
single client-PC? I have to have multiple environments because each
environment resides geographically remote node and network bandwidth,
reliability are not good enough to include all the systems into single
environment.
Using Control Panel for doing this is not easy for those who are not
familiar with Windows. The end-user tend to use just single application
to access all necessary services.
I could consider two option to doing this:
1. Make some DOS batch command file to switch different environment
like, copying back/forward between environment repositories and
set up forte.ini for changing FORTE_NS_ADDRESS. After then, invoke
proper client partition(ftexec).
2. Duplicate necessary services among each environment.
But, these two options have many drawbacks in terms of system
management(option 1), performance(option 2) and others.
Has anybody good idea to implement this? Any suggestion would be
appreciated.

Message Driven Bean reading multiple times from a jms queue

I am facing a strange problem with my message driven bean. Its configured to read message from a jms queue. But sometimes it read the same message multiple times from the jms queue.
We are using weblogic server 8.1 sp5.

Please help me out here!!Maybe, your MDB "sometimes" throws an Exception in onMessage.
Check if this happens when you set <max-beans-in-free-pool>1</max-beans-in-free-pool>. -
SQL Developer cannot import connections from a tnsnames.ora
Just try sql develorper today, I saw it can import connections from a XML file or a .properties file? But has no an option to import from a tnsnames.ora ?

Would the connection name simply mirror the tns entry? I'm not sure that'd be correct since I frequently have multiple connections defined to 1 DB ( tns entry ) If you program this "connection collection" to be performed at first startup (asking the user if he wants to), before having added any connection, you have a 1:1 relation; problem solved.
If you want it enabled even after adding connections, you can add arbitrary suffixes (_1, _2 and so on).
What username would be defaulted?This is even easier: none.
That's the least the end-user can add. He can even leave it blank if he really wants to be prompted on connecting.

Multiple connections in one project

Is there perhaps some kind of a document describing a 'best practice' for using multiple connections in a ADF BC application. One connects to an oracle DB another to a SQLServer.
I suppose I need to create two different services? Anybody having experience with this?

The JDBC connection value will be the only different element between these two Configurations. To create a BC4J Configuration in JDeveloper, right click on the AppModule node and then click Configurations...,
Use oracle.jbo.client.Configuration class to create AppModules connected to the database you want.,

I want to access several Databases from one BC4J-Project.
For example I want to write an application, which collects data from one database, does some computation and stores the results in a second database.
I would prefer to use BC4J-Components for both, the source and the target database, but unfortunately I can select only one connection per BC4J-Project.
Has anyone got an idea, how I can access more than one database-connection from one BC4J-Project without having to write all the JDBC-Stuff on my own? JDev-Team, can you please give a hint? -

Then yes, it is.
Create the first, then you start to create the second by adding your top(business year) level on the same level as the one you have (year) both under your total.
Then when you would add your second base level, there is a special option for it, something like use other hierarchy level/shared level (sorry can't recall and does not have a connection right now) then you select your existing day level under your businessmonth level.

Multiple connection pools in the same DB physical source
Hi, I have this situation in BI Admin:
A single DB with 2 physical schema and 2 Connection Pools with OCI 10/11g.
Clicking on any table I can see the data after selecting the right connection pool for that table.
I created a Business Model based upon tables from one of the 2 physical schemas and a corresponding presentation layer. It is consistent and I can view the related subject area in Answers, but when I select a Dimension column (CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO) and the fact measure ( Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO ) in viewing results I get this error:

Is it caused by the multiple connection pools under the same DB?Yes I think that's correct, but only if you're going to use the same user to connect to them.
If you have a single user you're using to connect to a database to read data which happens to be over more than one schema, you'd use one connection pool.
However if you have entirely separate schemas (eg. different applications) and need to use a different user for each then you would use one connection pool per schema. Also if you thought you might move one of the schemas to another physical database at some point in the future it might be prudent to use a separate connection pool from the outset.
If you're still getting the error that the table cannot be found and your users have full permissions then logically the table that's being looked for does not exist, or you have not qualified it. What I mean by that is if you are connecting as USER2 and SELECT * FROM TABLE_A then the database will assume that you mean USER2.TABLE_A. If you mean USER1.TABLE_A then you need to make sure the qualification is in there.
In the admin tool check your Physical layer is set up correctly with your Physical Tables residing in the correct Physical Schemas. -
Multiple connections/roles on same machine for same site?
As a Contribute CS3 Administrator (newbie; just converted a
Dreamweaver site to work with Contribute), can I set up multiple
connections to the same site? I want to test the Publisher role and
Writer role on my development machine before creating connnection
keys for these roles for the customer who owns the site (and is
waiting with new Contribute licenses and eager but idle staff)?
I just want to be able to test my site under these roles
(using different passwords and username/email addresses), but there
seems no obvious way to do this as Contribute seems to allow me to
set up only one connection per URL, and also seems to want to wipe
out my existing Admin connection if I come on in another role (from
a connection key generated for a Publisher or Writer role).Two problems with that:
1. Tried it by creating a connection key for a Publisher
role, but invoking the key zaps the old connection, so I no longer
have Administrator access without deleting then re-creating the
connection and setting myself up as Admin again.
2. When I went into the (new) connection as Publisher, it
would let me connect and see pages, but would NOT allow editing of
any pages (even though I had specifically looked when originally
defining the role to make sure all editing privileges were -- or
appeared to be -- intact).
