Multiple criteria search with 4 dropdown lists

I want to perform a multiple criteria search on a MySQL
database. Users should be able to use from 4 dropdown lists in a
form only one criterium, all 4 of them or 2 or 3.
Each used dropdown list gives a numeric variable: Fvar1 ...
Fvar4. The variables from the dropdown lists used should be matched
with numeric fields in the database: DBvar1...DBvar4
The numeric variables from the dropdown lists that are not
used, should be ignored.
Example: a user selects a value in dropdown list 2 and 3 and
does not use dropdown lists 1 and 4. Fvar1 and Fvar 4 should then
be ignored for the search, that has to be performed with Fvar2 and
Fvar3, who have to be matched with DBvar2 and DBvar3.
Anyone who can help me out with the WHERE statement in my SQL
query?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Start by using the Advanced Recordset dialog box to create a
query that
looks for all four variables. Then switch to Code view and
start carving
up the code created by Dreamweaver.
The query will look something like this:
$query_getProducts = sprintf("SELECT product_name, price
FROM products
WHERE prod_type = %s AND colour = %s AND size = %s AND range
= %s
ORDER BY price ASC",
GetSQLValueString($var1_getProducts, "text"),
GetSQLValueString($var2_getProducts, "text"),
GetSQLValueString($var3_getProducts, "text"),
GetSQLValueString($var4_getProducts, "text"));
Change it like this:
$query_getProducts = "SELECT product_name, price
FROM products
WHERE ";
$where = false;
if (!empty($_GET['prod_type')) {
$query_getProducts .= sprintf("prod_type = %s ",
GetSQLValueString($var1_getProducts, "text"));
$where = true;
if (!empty($_GET['colour'])) {
if ($where) {
$query_getProducts .= 'AND ';
$query_getProducts .= sprintf('colour = %s ',
GetSQLValueString($var2_getProducts, "text"));
$where = true;
if (!empty($_GET['size'])) {
if ($where) {
$query_getProducts .= 'AND ';
$query_getProducts .= sprintf('size = %s ',
GetSQLValueString($var3_getProducts, "text"));
$where = true;
if (!empty($_GET['range'])) {
if ($where) {
$query_getProducts .= 'AND ';
$query_getProducts .= sprintf('range = %s',
GetSQLValueString($var4_getProducts, "text"));
That builds the query in stages using $where to decide
whether to add
"AND" in front of the second, third, and fourth variables.

  • Search Criteria: how to filter dropdown lists?

    Hello Experts!
    In my 'Search Criteria' page of Complaints I have some fields such as Transaction ID, Transaction Type, Created By, Partner Function, etc. 'Partner Function' is bringing ALL partner functions of the system in the dropdown list. I need to restrict/filter this dropdown list in order to bring ONLY the values that I need.
    The same thing happens, for example, the field 'Status'. It brings all statuses of the system, but I just need it to bring the statuses of my Status Profile.
    This happens for all dropdown lists in all search pages.
    How can I filter these dropdown lists?
    Thanks a lot,
    Luis.

    Hi Luis,
    Redefine method GET_DEQUERY_DEFINITIONS and use the following piece of code:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <rt_result> TYPE crms_thtmlb_search_field_info.
    CALL METHOD super->get_dquery_definitions
        RECEIVING
          rt_result = rt_result.
    READ TABLE rt_result WITH KEY field = 'STATUS' ASSIGNING <rt_result>.
    <rt_result>-ddlb_options will contain all the values for status you see in the dropdown list. Modify this list as per your requirement and hence modify the main Internal table - RT_RESULT from <rt_result> for field status.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Search keyword display dropdown list two columns

    Sheet1:
    Sheet2:
    Question: Is it possible to create a searchable Dropdown list in Sheet1 A6 that displays a list of combined Sheet2’s ColA+ColB. And the ColB of the selected row will be the value of Sheet1
    B2.
    i.e. If type in a keyword ‘apple’ on Sheet1 A6, Sheet1 A6 cell will have a dropdown list of Sheet2 A2-B5. Then the user will select a row from this dropdown and Sheet1 B2 will display the price (ColB) of the selected value.
    Please let me know if this makes sense. Thanks.

    Some questions.
    Why is the price going on a different row?
    Do want a drop down at A6 and you will be selecting one item after another from this same place or do you want more DropDowns on the following rows.
    The price is inserted at cell B2. Will the price always be in cell B2 or the next blank cell in that column?
    What sort of DropDown are you looking for? Can we use a ComboBox or do you specifically want a Data Validation DropDown. (Can be done with a ComboBox but not sure how this could be done with Data Validation.)

  • Help with Dynamic Dropdown List

    Hi everyone,
    I'm completely new to this, so I hope you will excuse my lack of knowledge.
    I need to add a dropdown menu on a page.  The dropdown will display a list of all the state names in the U.S.  When the person selects a particular state, the access numbers for that state should appear next to it.
    I'm using Dreamweaver CS4.  I was given a Excel spreadsheet with all of the information on it.
    It would be easiest for me if I can use ASP to handle this, since I already have it setup on my machine as a local server to test it.
    But, I can't seem to wrap my head around how to go about this.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Meb

    Can you tell me if the following statements are correct?
    - I need to make 2 xml documents.  One for a list of states and one for cities and their phone numbers.
    - I need to add a form to a page in DW.
    - I need to add 2 Spry Regions to the form, one for the states dropdown list and one for the cities and phone numbers.
    - I need to create two Spry Data Sets using the XML data sets I created earlier and insert them in their corresponding regions.
    - And I need to analyze the code from iPHP's example and somehow link all the stuff together.
    Am I even close to correct?
    Thanks again,
    Meb
    1.) What does the source code from the example look like? Are there 2 xml documents?
    2.) Is there a form on the example? Do you want a form on your page?
    3.) How many Spry Regions are in the example?
    4.) What does the source code from the example suggest?
    5.) yes! View source code as previously advised. All of your other questions will be answered once you've done this! See a pattern forming here? You ask a bunch of questions, the answer is to view the source code. You say you've done that and will continue to do so, yet you still ask questions that can be answered by viewing the source code. The result is a lot of redundant discussion.

  • Editable Inline Table with a Dropdown List in Each Row

    Dear All,
    I am using: JDev 10.1.3.3 + JSF + BC
    I need to build a dropdown List in each row for a child table of an inline style. I used the SelectOneChoice and followed Steve Muench example (http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/06/24/jdeveloperAdfScreencasts.html). I'm unable to get the result. It display the correct value but lose the dropdown style, rather it shows the result as an outputText style.
    Can someone please help...
    I've tried different way like the table binding by droping the column from the dataControl as a selectOneChoice and did the binding... didn't work.
    This is what I have in the source page
    <af:column headerText="Cust Id" sortable="false"
    sortProperty="CustId"
    id="column34">
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{detailRow.CustId}">
    <af:forEach var="li"
    items="#{bindings.customerLookupVO1.rangeSet}">
    <af:selectItem value="#{li.CustId}"
    label="#{li.CustText}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    </af:column>
    In this is what I have in the page Def file
    <table IterBinding="customerLookupVO1Iterator" id="customerLookupVO1">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="CustId"/>
    <Item Value="CustText"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </table>

    Hi,
    looks ok except for: "#{detailRow.CustId}"
    did you change the var property of the table? normally it would be "#{row.CustId}"
    the fact that your select one choice is not displaying would suggest that there is a problem with the 'value' property of the component.
    there is another problem you should be made aware of with ADF editiable tables. If you put anything other than input text components in the table you will have chronic locking problems with the page. Only one person can use that page or else you will get errors all over the page until the user holding the lock commits or signs off.

  • Multiple Criteria LOV with programatic criteria

    Hi,
    I am stuck up with a requirement. I have an LOV which is based on a lov vo having two columns, equipment and plant.
    I type an equipment name and pass an additional criteria of plant which is based on a poplist.
    So basically the query in the backend would get the where clause like this :
    plant = :1 and equipment_name like :2 ...
    My requirement here is to have the plant search to have something like .. plant in(:1,-99999) or plant=:1 or plant =-99999 instead of just one value (:1) where -99999 is a default which would always be there.
    I tried to create another lov and map it to the another plant item in the lov but that didn;t help.
    After reading few posts on the programmatic criteria, i set the programmatic query = true for the plant and then in the CO i placed this code :
    processFormRequest -:
    if ("EquipmentLOV".equals(lovInputSourceId)) {
    super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    OAApplicationModule lov_am =
    (OAApplicationModule)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    Dictionary lov_dict = pageContext.getLovCriteriaItems();
    String lov_criteria = (String)lov_dict.get("PlantId");
    Serializable lov_params[] = { lov_criteria };
    lov_am.invokeMethod("initlovvo", lov_params);
    in the AM i placed this code:
    public void initlovvo(String plant) {
    Integer planti = Integer.parseInt(plant);
    MTHEquipmentsLOVVVOImpl vo = getMTHEquipmentsLOVVVO();
    // vo.setWhereClause(null);
    //vo.setWhereClauseParams(null);
    if (planti != null) {
    vo.setWhereClause("PLANT_ID IN (:1,-99999)");
    vo.setWhereClauseParam(0, planti);
    vo.executeQuery();
    I have commented the setWhereClause(null); thinking that it might clear the equipment part of the where clause or the pre-set where clause in the VO.
    However, i am still not able to get the desired results.
    Any inputs as to how i can get this working.
    Thanks,
    Ankit

    Shiv,
    I am able to get the required functionality and the query is getting generated properly. The trigger is getting fired both when i tab out and click on the torch light unlike my previous observation.
    However, if i am getting a null pointer exception when i click on the value in the lov. The name of the equipment is 'Unassigned'. If i type U and tab out then the lov field is populated automatically. However, if i give criteria as % and click on torchlight , and then select the unassigned equipment or any other value , then i get this null pointer exception.
    Please advice.

  • Multiple selection box + Substracting cascading dropdown list

    I have a multi-select boxe and a drop down but instead of ADDING the choices made in the multi select box to the list of selectable items in the drop down list, I want to SUBSTRACT them.
    I'll try to clearify it: if in the multi-slection box you have:
    Option A and option B and
    in the drop down list, you (depending on you selection) have 2 4 6 8 (options for A) or 4 8 10 12 (options for B).
    When selecting BOTH A and B, the drop down liast should ONLY display the values that overlap/exist in both A and B (e.g 4 8).
    This would have to work for X number of options in both the multi select box and the drop down list.
    Doess anybody know how to make that work?
    Thanks in advanced and kind regards!

    Hi Little_Ghost,
    for using a form, seems quite a challenge.
    when you select the selection box, or check boxes in the form, you may need to grab the all the selection, and refresh the page with the pre-selected information, so it will be loaded when the page is refreshed.
    if you are using infopath template, it may be difficult, since we need 2 infopath form templates associate with list A and B individually, not sure how to interact this cross 2 infopath form template.
    my infopath colleague suggest you to try to use one infopath form template with 2 data connections.
    i was thinking,
    if you could populate the items, for example by using getlistitem()
    http://spservices.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=GetListItems
    then you may put the result in an array, and ready to compare.
    since you would like to use a form, then it may not updated directly, i am not quite sure for this, because as i know you may need to use a button to send out and update/refresh the fields.

  • How do I do multiple criteria searches?

    I am so frustrated. When I search in mail I want to be able to type in a keyword ("books") and once those results are up, only look for that search term in emails from or to one person during a certain date range. Any idea if this is possible???

    I think it is probably possible to use logical

    Yes, that's why I mentioned and-or-not above.
    But back to the poster's question - the search field seems pretty limited, the scenario he described seems to require a Smart Mailbox.

    I have created the drop down list with the respective details
    Value   Desc

    2          euroTodollar
    when the user selects the first option in the drop down list and then enters the value and gives a submit -> the conversion takes place

    Hi ,
    what is the need of ur gaurd condition there?
    and try to run the model without that guard condition.

  • Error/fault when using reader and digitial signatures combined with dropdown list

    I'm working on a time card form for my company and they want me to have the form calculate the dates for the two week pay period when the ending day of the pay period is selected, that part I have down through code.  The problem I am running into though is that when the user is using Adobe reader to digitally sign and send the file to their supervisor the file is changing the selection date field back to the first selection in the drop down list after the first digital signature is applied and the file saved.  This error does not occur when the user is utilizing Adobe Pro though.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm wondering if it is something to do with the dropdown list settings or some kind of locking feature not working properly with the reader version.  I am editing/creating the form through LiveCycle Designer ES4.

    Hi,
    The drop down list box, by default will have a blank value. If you can declare that as obligatory then the report will force the user to enter the value in it.

  • Dropdown list on Dynpro for a disabled input field - No PAI triggered?

    Hello experts,
    I am facing a problem with a dropdown list on a dynpro (defined as a subscreen). The drop down list should be  for a field that is not input ready (at least it should appear not being input ready).
    The user should be able to pick a value from the dropdown list and as soon the selected row changes a PAI should be processed as other fields on the main dynpro as well as the subscreen itself need to change accordingly.
    The dropdown list works fine but with the field not being set to input ready - neither the input field changes nor a PAI etc. is triggered.
    But if the property for input is set to input ready, it works fine.

    What am I missing here?
    What properties must be set for the field.

    PS. If set to input - how do I prevent the single empty line in the list?

    hi
    good
    SELECTION-SCREEN DYNAMIC SELECTIONS FOR NODE|TABLE node.
    allows you to define further nodes for dynamic selections. If the node has type T, you can use TABLE instead of NODE. The user can then decide at runtime the components of the node for which he or she wants to enter selections. Dynamic selections require special handling in the database program

  • How to trigger a refresh of a dropdown list when the selection is changed

    Hi,
    This is a general ExtendScript question, but since I'm working with FM, I'll ask here first. I have a bit of a paradox here and I'm not sure of the best way to handle it.
    I have a dialog box with a dropdown list, where I want to refresh certain controls when the user changes the selection in the list (dropdownList.onChange). This includes refreshing the contents of the list itself. However, the problem is, as soon as I try to refresh the list contents, it triggers onChange again. So, if I put the call to refresh the box within the onChange handler, it results in an endless loop, because my refresher function triggers onChange when it refreshes the list.
    Does anyone know a better methodology, where I can safely trigger a refresh of a dropdown list within the list's own onChange event handler? I really wish that onChange was reserved for a user action only, or there was at least some property to that effect.
    Russ

    Hi Russ,
    you can stop that with "stopPropagation()"
    You can find this in "Javascript Tools Guide" on page 150.
    I'm not able at the moment to send you an example 'cause I'm in a hospital for a while.
    Happy New Year!

  • Change image when form dropdown list value is selected

    I really thought this would be simpler but I just can't get it working.
    I have a submit from from paypal with a dropdown list. The list allows you to select color. I want to change an image on the page to display the appropriate color when the color is selected from the drop down list. So a black image shows up when black is selected, a red when red - etc...
    I would be very grateful if someone can share some succinct, browser compatible code. Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
    Bill

    Thanks so much.  I used your info from above and am in the process of creating a product configurator for our products.  Do you see any problems/issues etc or ways to make this script better?  I don't have most of the images there yet, but if you choose big boy chair and then choose navy/powder/black fabric and most accent colors you should see it working (in FireFox anyway).  Not sure why it isn't working in IE.  Any ideas?

  • Safari won't let me use first letter in word in dropdown list

    When I'm in a page with a dropdown list, Safari won't letter me type the first letter key to narrow down my selection. If, for example, I'd like to find Denmark, I can normally click on the D key. I know Safari for Mac allows that.

    I can't do it either - possibly an as-of-yet unimplimented feature in this beta release.
