Multiple field validation failures

Hi,
I am working on 7.11 and working on SOAP to Proxy (sync) scenario.
I have gone through XML validation document provided by SAP  in which i came to know that only first error will be sent back.
Please let me know how to handle all the errors at once with / without XML validation.
Thanks
Hamja

I have gone through XML validation document provided by SAP  in which i came to know that only first error will be sent back.
Yes the check wont be done for the rest of the file if some earlier node is found missing.
Please let me know how to handle all the errors at once with / without XML validation.
Using BPM it can be done....but a strict No from my side to use this option.
there is even a blog mentioning the use of JAVA mapping for schema validation but then it also stops processing when it finds the first missing node.

Abhishek.

  • Multiple field validation under one form

I have one form and in that form i need to validate multiple inputText fields. Each inputText field has its own button for an input assistance that would later populate that particular inputText field. When i click on one of those buttons the entire page (all fields) gets validated. Does this happen because they are all under one FORM? do we have a better way of doing this and does adding inputHidden after each field fix this? im really new at this JSF. thanks.

    If you don't have any required="true" fields, then let your custom validator check which button was pressed by determining the presence of the button in the RequestParameterMap. If your search button has a client ID of for example "formId:searchButtonId", then do something like in the validator:if (FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().containsKey("formId:searchButtonId")) {
        // validate input for search.
}You can even pass the client ID as f:attribute along the UIInput field if you want.
The following two articles aren't strictly what you need, but it might give useful background information:

What is best way to validate multiple field is same time?
In my use case I have address component and there is a dependensy between suburb ,posrcode and state fiels
How I can implement this in ADF?What is the best way working in ADF?
As I know using <f:validator > we can validate one field each time

  • Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

    Hi,
I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
    Probelm:
Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.

    Thanks in advance,

Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

  • Multiple field validation

    Hi all,
The way the application works is the user has to input more
than one field at a time before he or she hits the Enter key. Is
there a way to validate multiple fields only at the end of an input
screen as oppose to having to validate each field one at a time ?
    Thanks in advance.

The way I would approach this is to make each field validate
with the pressing of the TAB key, with the last field requiring the
pressing of the ENTER key to validate the typed entry. Assign these
keys in the shortcuts options within the text entry field
    properties.
The text entry fields set to 'continue', each set to appear
after each other, so the first field is completed and TAB pressed,
assuming the typed entry is correct the slide continues, and then
displays the second field and prompts the user to type in the
second field etc onwards until the last field which requires a
typed entry then the pressing of the enter key or clicking a button
from your screen shot (with click box overlaid). Alternatively, do
this over several slide with the same screenshot, with each text
entry box set to 'go to next slide' when correct, which displays
the same screen shot but with the first field completed and the
second field awaiting an entry to be made..
    That make sense?

  • New to the product - question about validating multiple fields as a group

I have a static form that I'm building from a word document.  Part of that form requires a person to fill any 3 out 5 text fields.
Since it looks like scripts are applied on a field by field basis, is it possible to have a script that encompasses multiple fields?
Would any script need to be applied to each field in turn?
Assuming the answer to question 1 is a yes, how would you script it to require x number of fields out of a total of y to have some sort of content in order to validate?
I'm pretty familiar with JavaScript and am looking at the Scripting reference guides but was hoping for a helping hand to get me there quicker as I'm in a bit of a time crunch - doing 18 forms with validation and database connectivity by January 15 certainly qualifies in my book.
I would assume you'd do something like this but am unsure of the syntax...
    Get values of each field
Set a valid counter variable for the number of fields with content
If field 1 is not empty, increment the valid counter
    (rinse and repeat)
if the valid counter is less than 3 throw an error message
Many thanks in advance for any help offiered

1). Yes, scripting within Livecycle can be for a single field or even static text, images and other artifacts within the PDF. Really anything, within Adobe's reason, when it comes to scripting.
2). It depends on what you want to do. Things like field validations, calculations and other instances where fields are tied togther really dictate how the script runs.
3). Fields that have calculations or validations with them work in the same, I believe. So for example I have a PDF that I made that is an Excel-type sheet that contains a few hundred cells and every single one has some type of validation or calculation associated with it. I generally run the calculations/validations from the user inputting the data and then after that the script runs, but again, it really dpeneds on what you are doing and with what, so answering some of your questions are a bit difficult.
Javascrip/Formcalc are wonderful tools within PDF, but don't forget the Action Builder (Tools -Action Builder). It is a set of preloaded actions that are turn-key. Just select the cells that will have the action and select the result you want from the preloaded list of actions, using those actions can get you very far, and most of all; they are quick to implement without researching code. So for example, you could use the Action Builder to create an action that checks certain fields and if they are null to return a 1 value to a specific numericField (these could be hidden). Then have a "total" numericField (this would be your counter) that adds all of those fields with the 1 in it. Then create another Action Builder for that "total" numericField and if it is less than 3, display a message box that is a warning.

  • Bind multiple fields to one node in data view

I have a need to have an interactive form where data from a single data source is displayed in multiple fields on the form.  In addition these fields are open for input.  I have bound the multiple fields on the form to one node in the data view.  The data is being displayed in the multiple fields. This form is being routed thru workflow so various agents are updating the form.  The problem that I am having is that the form only seems to allow input in the first field on the form but not the other fields that are tied to the same data source. For example, field A and field B are bound to node SUMMARY.  I can add/change/delete data in field A but not in field B.  After I have done some entry in field A, I can then sometimes make changes in field B.  We have a requirement that field A be enabled for agent #1 but field B is invisible.  Later in the workflow, agent #2 needs to make final changes on a "summary" page so agent #2 had field B enabled.
Does anyone have any idea how to correct this data entry issue so that data can be entered into either field that is tied to a single node?

Having multiple fields in the backend is not an option.  I will not go into the business reason in detail but the last page of the form contains a final version of data pulled from various locations on the form where the data on the other pages was input by multiple agents in the process flow.  The last agent in the workflow needs to put the "finishing touches" to the data and should not have to search all over in the form to find the appropriate data fields.
I have found 2 possible solutions and would like to know if anyone can recommend one over the other.
First solution - bind multiple fields on the form to one node in the data view.  This seems to work correctly on the form and data can be entered into either field, with the data being passed back to the webdynpro context in the one node in the data view (corresponding node in WD context).
Second solution - the node/attribue in the WD context must have the same name as a DDIC element. The node in the data view must have this same name.  The field names on the form must also have the same name.  Define the binding for the field names as Global.  I have not validated that the data is passed back to the WD.

  • Copy Field Formats into multiple fields

I have a form that has a spreadsheet layout. Multiple fields need to be formatted as currency or date. Outside of using Java scripts is there a way to copy the formatting of one filed to multipe others? I want to avoid Java script because I'm lousy with it.

Is it possible to have each field separated by a comma? Space
delimiters won't work since not all cities & states are one
word (ie. New York, New York) however a comma delimiter would allow
you to use simple list functions to extract the data.
If this isn't possible but the data is always in the format:
city<comma>state<space>zip, then you could extract the
city using comma as the delimiter and then extract the zip code
using the ListLast() function with space as the delimiter which
would leave you with the state as the remaining text. This would
only work however if your data is consistently in the format
    described above.
Failing this you could build two tables with states and
cities and then use them to identify valid states and cities and
    extract the data that way.
    cheers

  • Call a Javascritp function after a validation failure

    Hi all,
I have a javascript function that is executed on page load. (it works fine)
Now I need to call it after a validation failure
How I can implement this call ?
I am using Apex 4.0.2 and the inline notification, so the page load event is not fired
which "activation" event can i use ?

Thank You Tyson for your quick replay,
and .. I apologize me for mine bad English.
My problem is that after a validation failure (with in line notification) the page load event IS NOT fired (in some case): so my script is not executed.
I would like to execute this script however and I don't know where and how to call it.
I give You more detail ......
I'm working on a page that contain a tabular form; in this form, using my script (called "disable_field"), Ii set to read-only some fields.
I call my script in "Execute when page load" section of page definition.
If the validation failure is produced by an update of some records in my tabular form all is OK : the inline notification is shown, the page is re-loaded and my script is executed.
If I add a new record and, after the submit, a validation fail, the page IS NOT reloaded (I don't know the why) and my script is not executed (so all fields are modifiable and this is not how much I want)
I will appreciate very any help
    regards

  • MX8 IE7 field validation issue

I'm having a problem with using CFFORM and simple field
validation -- by simple, I mean simply setting required="YES" on a
CFINPUT field. The JavaScript that CF8 generates is something like:
    quote:
    if( !_CF_hasValue(_CF_this['CompanyName'], "TEXT", false )
apparently this is invalid in IE7. CF5 generated the above
    as:
    quote:
    if( !_CF_hasValue(_CF_this.CompanyName, "TEXT", false ) )...
    this is valid in IE7.
    Help!

Nevermind! A naming problem. For some unknow reason, the form
name was hardcoded to "CFFORM_1". This creates a naming conflict if
there are multiple forms that are unnamed because CF will name the
first unnamed form "CFForm_1" -- boom!
Unfortunately, CF nor JavaScript warns you of this collision.
I hope this helps someone else.

  • How to get the handle of the Validation Failure Message Popups.

    Hi,
    I'm using Jdev 11.1.2.0
I have added validation rule(less than system date) and failuremessage("date should not after currentdate") on the date field in EO.
when I enter greated than the sysdate in date field in page, I'm getting validation failure message in a popup with ok button. its working good.
but when i click on the popup ok button, the focus should go the date field again and it is higlighted.
So, how to get the handle of the popup's ok buton? and how to highlight the datefield after clicking the popup's ok button?
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    thank you.

    if i understood correclty means,
i hope that, error popup is provided by framework.. how could be possible? to catch the error popup ok button.
am not well aware of catching the error popup which is provide by framework..
but i had answer for your part of the question,
if the condition go off false means you force the cursor into date field. this is can be done using 'javascript'. unless using script you can't do that. ADF doesnt provide any force focusing feature.
please google how to focus the field.

  • Can a Lookup Window be used to search multiple fields w/o clicking Advanced

In our setup in R18, if a user clicks the magnifying glass to see the Lookup Window, it defaults to searching on one field -- let's say last name. Unfortunately, if they search for a common last name, like "Smith", they may get hundreds of results. Had they used the Action Bar search, they could have used first and last name and gotten much closer to the result they want (if not the specific result they wanted).
I'd like to avoid having the users click Advanced as: 1) they then have a myriad of fields to choose from, and 2) not everyone will be an expert in using "and" and "or".
If they could just use the Lookup Window they same way as the Action Bar, I'd be happy. Maybe I have it misconfigured? As it is, when I open the Lookup Window, the drop down shows the same fields I have in the Action Bar, but when I click Advanced, the fields are all blank. That's unlike the Action Bar Advanced link which pre-populates the fields I can search on.

It is not possible to search on multiple fields in lookup windows without going to the Advanced tab. Your suggestions are valid. Have you considered creating an enhancement request?

  • Trying to create a Field Validation Expression and need help

I have a picklist field and another field that are in question. I want to set some sort of rule that forces the second field to be populated only If specific values are selected from the picklist field.
I was going the route of a field validation Rule, but everything i've tried so far does not produce the results i am trying to achieve.
The first type of expression i tried was:
([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] <> LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print") AND ([<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NULL))
This is generating the field validation error message when i select any of the correct values from the picklist. the problem is still the second field, which will generate the error if a value is entered into the second field, regardless of the picklist value selected. Switching the "IS NULL" to "IS NOT NULL" only reverses the problem on the second field, causing the error to generate when the second field is updated to a NULL or blank value.
    I also tried :
= 'No Production Print' AND [<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL
    and got similar results.
    ([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] = LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print"))
    Similar results as well.
Does this need to be an IIF statement? Do I need to make this a workflow expression instead? i could really use some help as I have tried everything i can think of and admit, i'm not the expression guru!!!. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    TeknoMan

Yes we have the same request and we used the following expression. Example we have a field "Método de pago" ( [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG<]), it's values are "CHEQUE and DEPOSITO" if we select DEPOSITO three more fields were requiered Route, Sucursal de banco and Clabe so we have to put this validation in the four fields including Metodo de pago.
[<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL)
well in the field CLABE we put the following [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND Len([<stCLABE_ITAG>])=18) this was because the len of the value must be 18 characters.
I hope this works for you
