Multiple form recipients from CGI script
Is there any way to code a cgi script to deliver the form to
more than one recipient. I've tried a couple of things and can't
seem to make anything work.
So the mail server you are sending through does address verification.
Maybe you should explain to them that it is a pointless exercise, as many mail servers on the internet will not allow verification. Thus, you will reject legit mail.
I don't know if your CGI script can be modified as I have never seen it and am no psychic
You can create a www user and set the shell to none. The user must be allowed to login, just don't give it a shell.
Alternatively, check if your script will allow for authenticated SMTP and ask your sysadmin to allow you through when authenticated.

How do I get to the screen in Mail that allows you to delete multiple "Previous Recipients" from the list? I have seen this screen but cannot find it again. It shows all of the "Previous Recipients" in a long list. You can edit the list by selecting multiple names or all names with the command key and delete. Help.
Launch the Mail app on your Mac and go to Window>Previous Recipients.

Servlet engine invoked FROM CGI script?
Yes this is a backwards request, but I need a simple servlet engine that can be invoked through a CGI script. I perfectly realize the problems associated with this like session management, benefits in threading, etc not to mention the overhead of JVM startup on each request...
Anything with which anyone's familiar? Searching returns (of course) how to invoke CGI from Servlet containers which is obviously not what I need.
Thanks!Hi Michael,
I am running 7.0 on Win NT while its the same case its displaying the whole content
as it is setted the weblogic.servlet.CGIServlet in the web.xml file and providing
the compiler for perl also .
Looking for a quick reply
Thanks

How to trigger a trigger in a Web Forms 6i from Java script
Hi,
I have an applicatin that has two frames. One displays a map, the other one the Oracle Forms 6i web forms. I display the datasheet of various map objects in the second frame when the user clicks on a map object in the first frame.
My problem is that since each Forms has a different link, JInitiator reloads each time, thus making it the form a bit slow to display.
Any tips? Thanks in advance.
Tamas SzecsyHi,
this kind of inter-region communication requires the use of contextual events in which the producer region sends a notification to the receiving region, which then uses a method to launch the popup. You don't use the showPopupBehavior for this but JavaScript from Java

Multiple email recipients from address book
I have not done this since I got my Mac. I want to send emails to about 50 of maybe 200 people in my address book. I tried highlighting but did not work. Can anyone help please?
ShariCreate a new Group in Address Book. Select the names of the people you wish to use in your mailing list. When you open the New Message window in Mail you may drag the group from AB to Mail or simply put the name of the group on the To: field and the group will be added automatically.

Running multiple java commands from a script
Hi, I am running Cygwin on windows XP professional.
I keep recompiling some files with javac as I change them very often. To save some time, I made a script "tout.txt" including the three following commands :
javac JpanColl.java
javac AppliTest.java
java AppliTest
There is no problem with the java command that launches a JFrame but it launches the old version since the two java commands don't compute.
This is the message I get :
javac Invalid flag: Jpancoll.java
etc.
ThanksYou guys didnt play enough Highlights for Kids covers
as a kid, lol.
javac JpanColl.java
javac Invalid flag: Jpancoll.java
all things java are cAsE sEnSiTiVe.Yes thanks for the input. I did note the incorrect name, however, Windows doesn't actually care, it matters at runtime but not compile time. Also invalid flag is not the type of error message one would see with that sort of error anyway.
Bottom line: nice guess but you're wrong. -
Can anyone give me a CGI script that will make a form
automatlly e-mail the information gathered from an online form?
Can that code be placed right into the html file?There are only two ways to process form data -
1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
redirect the visitor
to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
email client
responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
send the
visitor to a
thank you page as well.
Method 2a is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
problems of
method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
server-scripting somehow (ASP,
CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
Method 2b would be to use some third-party form processing,
like
http://www.bebosoft.com/products/formstogo/,
or if your server supports PHP,
you could investigate
http://www.geekministry.com/formbuilder/,
a very nice
product by a frequent poster here.
You would have to decide which of these methods is best for
your needs,
but if it's Method 2a, then start by asking your host what
they provide for
form
processing. If it's 2b, then read their FAQ/instructions
carefully.

How can i call a CGI script from java?
The subject pretty much says it all. I want to call a perl cgi script so i can read from/write to files on a server. I don't know how to sign applets and this would be the easiest way for me, if someone could please tell me.
Let me get this clear. Basically what u want to do is to just call a URL, right?
U can do it by using the following code:
import java.applet.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
public class testhttp
public static void main(String[] args)
try
URL url = new URL ("http://../testcgi.cfm");
HttpURLConnection cxn =
(HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
cxn.setRequestMethod("POST");
cxn.setUseCaches(false);
cxn.setDoOutput(true);
cxn.setDoInput(true);
ByteArrayOutputStream bytes = new
ByteArrayOutputStream(400);
PrintWriter writer = new PrintWriter (bytes,true);
writer.print("application=map&release=1&items=prog1");
writer.flush();
cxn.setRequestProperty("Content-
Length",String.valueOf(bytes.size()));
cxn.setRequestProperty("Content-
Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
bytes.writeTo(cxn.getOutputStream());
System.out.println(bytes);
String currentLine;
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader (new
InputStreamReader(cxn.getInputStream(),"8859_1"));
while((currentLine = in.readLine()) != null) {
System.out.println(currentLine); }
catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
There is also a library called HTTP client which can be found at:
http://www.innovation.ch/java/HTTPClient/index.html
It's very simple to use and the documentation is all there, but their web server seems to be down right now.
Anyway, hope my post helps. -
Hi,
I have to add form elements to my help topics for getting

"FormMail" script is the one you need. -
LoadVariablesNum on button to access cgi script mail form
Greetings: I've used this method many times in the past to create an email form in a movie clip with a "send button" that accesses a perl, cgi script to email text input fields. It worked fine in past versions of Flash, but now I'm using Flash CS3 (v9.0, AS 2.0). I've tried 3 different cgi scripts I found online for this purpose and am sure the configurations for sendmail server & perl bins, etc are correct. All of the other "if" and "else" statements on the button work fine. But I can see a Safari (browser) error message saying POST was not used, but clearly it is. I'm trying to trouble shoot whether the problem is from the flash button or the cgi script.
Has something changed in Flash CS3 from previous versions, where I'm certain it has worked before???
Here is my button code:
on (release) {
//Make sure the user filled in all the required fields.
if (name1 ne "" and name2 ne "" and subject ne "" and email ne "") {
//Check to make sure the email address includes and @.
i = "0";
validmail = 0;
while (Number(i)<=Number(length(email))) {
if (substring(email, i, 1) eq "@") {
validmail = 1;
i = Number(i)+1;
//If there's no @ in the email go to the error page.
if (Number(validmail) == 0) {
gotoAndStop("error");
} else {
//The line below assumes the script is in the same directory as the HTML page.
loadVariablesNum("http://www.companyname.com/cgi-bin/FormMail.pl", 0, "POST");
//Go to the confirmation frame.
gotoAndStop("thankyou");
} else {
//if the user left required fields blank, show them an error message.
gotoAndStop("error");
Here is the error message I can access on Safari>window>activity:
"The HTML form fails to specify the POST method, so it would not be correct for this script to take any action in response to your request.
If you are attempting to configure this form to run with FormMail, you need to set the request method to POST in the opening form tag, like this: <form action="/cgi-bin/FormMail.pl" method="post">
Why isn't the command from the button in the Flash swf file, being recognized by the html page?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Janisin version 6, case didn't count. after version 6, it counts.
so, gotoandPlay(3), used to work but, not now. you need to use gotoAndPlay(3).
also, undefined numeric variables were assigned a default value of 0 with flash 6 and prior. not now, they're undefined. so, watch for code like
while(var1<1){
do something
var1++;
where var1 is never initialized.

Passing multiple character values from parameter form to PL/SQL
Hi,
I am passing multiple character values from parametr form into
the report query and a PL/SQL procedure. It works fine with the
query, when I use &variable. But, it doesn't compile in PL/SQL,
so I just used the :variable, but not getting any records in the
PL/SQL procedure. Any suggestions?
sincerely,
gjgj / Fedro,
Only using the &referecne, you can pas a string / multiple character values and this would work for query only.
The bind parameter in PL/SQL wouls support only single value

How do I control data transfer rate from Java applications to CGI scripts?
Hi. I've written a test cgi script which echoes any data it's sent back to the client, and I'm trying to write a java application that reads data from files on my hard drive and sends it to the cgi application.
The method I've used is the same as the one described in the tutorial on this site, ie. create an URL object, open an URLConnection, get output stream from URLConnection, write data to output stream.
The problem however is that the java application writes to the output stream at a much faster rate than my internet connection can handle, and so when I try to send more than a few kb the data doesn't seem to get sent at all. Is there some way I can control the rate at which data is sent, or is there a better way of sending data to a cgi application?
I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!
Ose.I've done some experimenting, and it seems that the problem is with my CGI application and not the Java application after all! (sigh) I wish I hadn't spent those duke dollars now. Oh well.
