Multiple Formats within a Single Form Field

I really could use some help with this one...
In a fairly simple pdf form I've created I need a field that handle text and currency formatting....within the same field. Is this possible? If so, can you provide the code for this situation?

If you have the freedom to change the design/layout, I'd suggest adding a check box to indicate N/A. You can set up the check box to clear the amount field and make it read-only.
If that's not going to happen, what you want to do is possible, assuming that if the value of the field is a valid number then format it with that currency format, and nothing otherwise. This will require a custom format script. Post again if you really want to go with this approach.

Let's say for example user have to the use the form to enter all 10 items or few like 5 on their stock form into 4 different textbox field each lines of your form, however these items go into a "Stock_table" under Single insert transaction query when submit button is pressed.

I have a way to do this, but it would take some hand coding on your part. If you feel comfortable hand writing php code and doing manual database calls, specificaly database INSERT calls you should be fine.
Create a custom form using the ADDT Custom Form Wizard that has all the rows and fields you need. This may take a bit if you are adding the ability for up to 20 rows, as per your diagram of the form area. The nice thing about using ADDT to create the form is that you can setup the form validation at the same time. Leave the last step in the Custom Form Wizard blank. You can add a custom database call here, but I would leave it blank.
Next, under ADDT's Forms Server Behaviors, select Custom Trigger. At the Basic tab, you enter your custom php code that will be executed. Here you are going to want to put your code that will check if a value has been entered in the form and then do a database INSERT operation on the Stock_table with that row. The advanced tab lets you set the order of operations and the name of the Custom Trigger. By default, it is set to AFTER. This means that the Custom Trigger will get executed AFTER the form data is processed by the Custom Form Transaction.
I usually just enter TEST into the "Basic" tab of the Custom Trigger. Then set my order of operations in the "Advanced" tab and close the Custom Trigger. Then I go to the code view for that page in Dreamweaver and find the Custom Trigger function and edit the code manually. It's much easier this way because the Custom Trigger wizard does not show you formatting on the code, and you don't have to keep opening the Wizard to edit and test your code.
Your going to have to have the Custom Trigger fuction do a test on the submitted form data. If data is present, then INSERT into database. Here's a basic example of what you need to do:
In your code view, the Custom Trigger will look something like this:

This code checks to see if the form input field named Item_1 is set. If so, then get the rest of the values for the first item and insert them into the database. You would need to do this for each row in your form. So the if you let the customer add 20 rows, you would need to check 20 times to see if the data is there or write the code so that it stops once it encounters an empty Item field. To exit a Custom Trigger, you can return NULL; and it will jump out of the function. You can also throw custom error message out of triggers, but this post is already way to long to get into that.
$tNG->getColumnValue("Item_1") is used to retrieve the value that was set by the form input field named Item_1. This field is named by the Custom Form Wizard when you create your form. You can see what all the input filed names are by looking in the code view for something like:

There will be one for each field you created with the Custom Form Wizard.
Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way to do what you need. Maybe there is a way, but since none of the experts have responded, I thought I would point you in a direction. You should read all you can about Custom Triggers in the ADDT documentation/help pdf to give you more detailed information about how Custom Triggers work.

Multiple selects() within a single VM

Is anyone aware of any contention issues when running multiple threads within a VM where each thread has it's own select statement?
I have an home grown app server that allows me to run multiple applications within a single VM. The applications are unrelated however they sometimes communicate with each other via TCP. All of them are very network intensive ( 500 messages a second where each message is around 200 bytes ). These apps are usually single threaded where the main thread is a select() loop.
Therefore, each application is a single threaded select() loop but there are multiple applications running within a single VM.
I am seeing performance issues when two apps running within the same VM try to send messages to one another via TCP. When the two apps are running on different boxes one app can send about 10,000 messages a second to the other app. However, when the apps are running within the same VM ( localhost TCP connection ) I can only transfer about 1000 messages a second.
Are 2 selectors running within the same VM a problem? Is it synchronized within the VM so that only one select can fire at a time?
I am running on a dual proc RH3 box with plenty of memory.
Any ideas?

Works for me, though I'm trying on Windows. Test program below. I get >10,000 replies and responses per second over loopback with both "java SelectPingPong both" (one VM) and running client and server on separate VMs.
Does this program get only 1000 messages/s on Linux? What VM version?

RECORD CODES in column definition are used to differentiate between different record types that are put in a same file.
The premise here is that the file contains records of different record types and a field in the file identifies the record type. eg. A file contains 2 record types with different formats.

A,101,'CMP', 'IDVHere the first field identifies the record type - A or B. So, in the ODI data store, you use A or B in the record code field of the column definition of the data-store.
ODI automatically, gets the records matching the record code specified in the definition of the data-store.
So, you will create 2 data-stores, one with record code = A (4 columns) and other with record code = B (8 columns)

Multiple subreports within a single main report?

I'm a newbie to BI Publisher, but have used Crystal Reports quite a lot.
I have a requirement which essentially consists of a set of 7 similar and closely related reports, each using a different SQL Select statement and printing different columns; the user will have the option of selecting either one of the 7, or all of them.
In Crystal Reports I would set up 7 subreports within a single main report, and depending on the parameter, suppress those subreports which are not required.
Is there a technique within BI Publisher which would enable me to achieve the same thing?

all the sub templates will go against a single XML. So if your sub reports in CR is handling different query, you need to take a step back and think of separating data and layout. So multiple queries will be handled by data templates. So, for example, if your main report fetches some records as Q1 query, and you have two sub templates with queries as SQ1, SQ2 (linked subreport). Then we have to see what relationship exists between the main report and the subreport. Say, the sub report query creates a relationship with the Main report data, to filter certain records. So this can be achieved in data template using Q1 and SQ1 using bind relationship, ie, Q1 is master query and SQ1 is a detail query. Similarly Q1 and SQ2 relationship can be established. The datatemplate when executed, will fetch a single XML data.So in this case you do not need sub template. The sub-report layout is not separate, and is to be created with the main report.
In case of unlinked subreport, the content of subreport is independent of main report, so you can simply define two datasets in BI Publisher and then select the Concatenation option. So the final XML data will be a concatenation of two XML data. The main report can read data of the main XML and the sub template can read data from the appended XML data. This can be done using xPath.

Once a user selects a number it will send them to an action
page. On the action page I need the below IF statement to work so

In forms, set the control property List Of Values.
In this case the property will be set by the LOV name which u have created through wizard(LOV7).
select the LOV name(LOV25) which u created manually.
Or U can set this property by code also.

or in the KEY-LISTVAL Procedure, u can call the desired LOV.

Passing single form field to recordset

I have a form and I want to pass one field from that form as a parameter to a recordset that would be used to create a dynamic table. I don't want to submit the form because I need to create the dynamic table to get information to fill out other fields in the foirm. Is there a way to do this? Using CS3 DW. Any help is appreciated.

Accessing Multiple Identical Schemas from Single Form

Hi,
I'm working with oracle 9i.
My question is as follows:
If one has muliple schemas that are all identical, is it possible to setup an oracle form (Oracle Forms 9i) that is able to switch between schemas by selecting the schema from an objecton the form like a drop down list etc..I'm wondering if it is possible to design 1 form that can be used to access all schemas from a single logon. if so, how would I go about doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your question is not very clear. Of course your logon will determine which schema. If you want to switch schemas, when the form is already running then you can use ALTER SESSION as Aleksandar indicated, but I would not recommend using it unless all form changes were committed. Another alternative is to create another session in the same schema by using OPEN_FORM, then logout of schema in this second session and login into new schema.

Insert multiple files from a single form

i'm trying to create a form to allow users to upload and attribute 10 image files at once to a single table. i followed the howto document:

and was able to create a form w/ten blank rows for insertion. however, the htmldb_item package that is used to write out the form controls does not provide an api to write out a file browse form control. is there another api i can use? if not is there a known kludge?

i modified your suggestion and came up w/a more straight forward solution. here's the complete solution...

note: union the null selects to get as many null rows as you want. i named the file control f50 to avoid conflicts. this control name is an array parameter in the wwv_flow.accept procedure that the form submits to. also, i unioned the null selects to the original table query which fetches no rows. this probably isn't necessary, but i left it in from the original example and had it select nothing because i wasn't sure if htmldb refrenced the column datatypes at all.
2. create a page item with the same name as your file control(f50) and change the display = never.
question: Scott, can you give me some insight into why you need this page item for the files to be uploaded. the files won't upload w/o the page item.
3. create a submit button which submits the page to itself. *make sure the button "database action = SQL INSERT action" or your files will not be uploaded to the wwv_flow_file_objects$ table

note: the value returned from the array htmldb_application.g_f50(i) will be the internal name of the file uploaded. i stripped down my code and removed the sections that move the file from flows_files.wwv_flow_file_objects$ into an image object and inserts it into my custom table, but anyone can use the technical notes on otn and metalink to figure it out.

Multiple columns within a single text frame

Is it at all possible to make a single text frame containing first a single column followed by two columns?
Why: I need to have my heading expanding across my two column body text. What's important is that I need the two column body text to automatically drop whenever I type (or paste) in more text in my heading. Like it would if the heading and body text was in a single column.
My text frame options (I work in CS3) do not give me this option, I can only work in one "frame set". I have tried fixing this problem with combinations of tables, multiple text frames and text wrap, but nothing really works.

InDesign CS3 just gives me this alert:
I also tryed copying the files (HeadStraddler.jsx and HeadStraddler.indl) into a folder like you suggested.

But I just get the same alert.

Export into multiple formats in one single task

Ever so often I have to export the same files in various Formats, for example one client wants a small JPG in low quality for layout, a full size JPG in 100% Quality and a DNG in case they still have to make corrections before going to print.
To this day I have to start 3 individual exports to fulfill that task.
Besides the fact that it would be much more comfortable to combine the three into one export with different formats and seperate subfolders - doesn't it take much longer that way?
As the exports start at different times I assume the RAW-files have to be loaded 3 times for each of the exports. Would make quite a difference if one has to export 600-700 images a day.

I'm having problems transfering audiobooks to my iPod touch 5th Gen with the latest software upgrade. It combines 2 books under the same title giving me multiple chapters within the single title.

When I transfer audiobooks to my touch, I sometimes get a new book transferred that shows up correctly in iTunes but when I open music on the iPod, I have a single book title with both volumes under it. I end up with 2 Chapters 1, 2 Chapters 2, etc. Anyone else have this problem?

Well, I decided to try working at it from the Windows side because I was getting absolutely nowhere using iTunes in OS X. Strangely enough it just worked like it's supposed to this time when I loaded up iTunes in Vista. (I tried before in Vista, with the same problem occurring).
No idea why it worked... I hadn't even authorized iTunes in Vista to play tracks registered to my iTMS account.
If anyone can offer any help from the Mac side, it would be much appreciated. I only have a few specific reasons for using Vista... would prefer if I could avoid restarting into it just to change a few things on my iPod.

CS4-connecting to multiple tables within a single Indesign doc.

I recently downloaded Datalinker, a plugin for Indesign that lets you connect to databases. I created a table in indesign and pulled in data from one table in the database. The problem I'm having is if I create another table in the same indesign document and want to access a different table in the database, I can't get that to work. It seems like it only wants to be able to connect to one table at a time per document?
Does anyone know a different way to go about doing this?
