Multiple hosts in tcp.invited_nodes

Hello all!
Can I add multiple hosts in tcp.invited_nodes parameter in sqlnet.ora using network mask, i.e tcp.invited_nodes=(192.168.77.0/24)?
toms

i.e tcp.invited_nodes=(192.168.77.0/24)?i think u want to specify the range of following ip. but for that u have to put each and every ip on following parameter.

  • Send a file to multiple hosts

    Hello
I'm making a program which purpose is to do file system synchro from a reference host to multiple hosts (let's say 10 to 20 for instance).
That means that I will have to send the same file data to all of these.
All hosts are in the same private network.
The files I send could be big so I'm trying to optimize all this. That's why I'm thinking of UDP multicast to do this rather than TCP/IP sockets. However multicast is not that reliable as said in Custom Networking tutorial. So I may have to write a quite complex protocol to achive this.
So what do you think is the best solution ?
    Thanks for your advice

    Thanks for your advice.
My problem is that I have to spare bandwidth so I should not send the same file multiple times. A TCP connexion would. That's why I chose UDP.
I've got another question about UPD :
Let's say I'm transfering a huge file between server A and server B using UDP. Server A reads the file, splits it into datagrams then sends the packets to B. Now if A is much quicker than B, A will send datagrams quicker than B can process them. Couldn't there be some kind of overflow on B socket ? What will happend ? Packet loss ?
I guess I should make some kind of synchro to avoid this.

  • Can multiple  hosts exist on single instance

    Hi B2B gurus,
I would like to present a scenario i am trying to work out.
Lets say there are 2 buyers B1 and B2
    And 2 suppliers S1 and S2.
The buyers send a PO to the supplier and the lets say the Supplier sends an Invoice to the Buyer.
Also there are 8 agreements in all. I mean all possible combinations such that a buyer can send a PO to any supplier and a Supplier can send a invoice to any Buyer.
My understanding of B2B is that it is generally a single Host TP and there can be multiple remote TP's.
To make my scenario work we will need multiple host TP's. One solution for this is to install N instances of B2B. But that is not feasible.
So is it possible to install only one instance of B2B and create multiple Host TP's and multiple agreements as i wanted.
We can use an API or something similar for this, so that this can all be done through the backend.
I agree that this may seem a little confusing, so if you have any queries feel free to ask them
    Thanks
    Ravi

I did read the two forums you have mentioned, from this my understanding is the following.
Without tweaking the current B2B sytem i can have one TP send multiple format documents to multiple TP's without any problems.
Eg B1 can send to S1 a PO over email . B1 can also send a Change Order to S1 via AS2/FTP?any other method.
    Is my understanding correct??
So if i were to use the hub model as you suggested i will use different identifiers to identify multiple buyer TP's
And hence there will be lotsa agreements all on the basis of identifiers and doc received and that will decide the target doc format and the transport delivery method.
Qn 1 - Does this seem to make sense? (feasibility, possible issues )
Qn 2 - What will be the performance consideration? Is there any performacne guide or so ??

  • Multiple host adapter framework caches in PI 7.1

When I go look at the caches in my PI system, I get multiple host adapter framework caches.  That is, when I navigate to http/<host>:50000/dir, then select "Administration" in the upper right hand corner, and then select "Data Cache Overview"  I see the following:
    af.<sid1>.<hostname1>
    af.<sid2>.<hostname2>
Integration server (ABAP) --> this is fine
Mapping Runtime Java --> points to <hostname1>
Mapping Runtime Java --> points to <hostname2>
I just did a system copy (export/import) and I changed all of the parameters.  Unfortunately, not soon enough.
    Any help is appreciated...

    Dumb question:
Do you delete the integration server under the SLD technical systems?  That is, "Integration Directory, Adapter Engine, Integration Repository, and RWB (these are all that shows up).  If I delete the adapter engine there (it is assigned to the wrong domain), is that the right way?
Or do you do it in the "CIM Instances" --> Class --> XI Adapter Framework (3) entry for the wrong server domain?

  • Pro's and Con's if i run multiple host firmware packages in the single chassis

    hi
i would like to know pro's and Con's if i run multiple host firmware packages in the single chassis.
Like if my UCS is running with firmware of 1.4.1m ( having backup of 1.3.1 and 1.1.1j) with 3 blades in one chassis
can i assign  service-profiles having three different host firmware versions
    Server1 - host firmware 1.1.1j-- win2k8
    server2 -host firmware 1.4.1m -- RHEL 5.6 ( OS)
server -host firmware 1.3.1 -(esxi 4.0)
Thanks in advance ,please replay if can i go ahead with this . ASAP

Yes, you can package them together.
Now Cisco has a better way. Cisco UCS Manager provides two main advantages over past firmware provisioning:
    • The capability to group multiple firmware components together in one package
    • The capability to apply a firmware package to any compatible server in a single operation
Cisco  UCS Manager provides an accurate, easier, faster, more flexible, and  centralized solution for managing firmware across the entire hardware  stack. Service profiles in Cisco UCS Manager abstract the physical  hardware from its software properties. Service profiles allow  administrators to associate any compatible firmware with any component  of the hardware stack. Simply download the firmware versions needed from  Cisco and then, within minutes, totally provision firmware on  components within the server, fabric interconnect, and fabric extender  based on required network, server, and storage policies per application  and operating system.

  • Is tcp.invited_nodes supported in XE?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to setup a proof-of-concept to demonstrate basic ip-access security using tcp.validnode_checking=yes and tcp.invited_nodes=(list of ip's)
I would like to demonstrate in XE.
I've got a prototype established and can connect via sqlplus to XE but fails when I put the tcp. references into sqlnet.ora.
I have confirmed localhost is an invited node.
    Thanks!
    Doug

It is not possible, other than to install the two databases in two different homes.
Also a separate listener for each database is not required at all.
Also using hardcoded IPs in sqlnet is maintenance prone and should be avoided.

  • Tcp.invited_nodes

I think I already know the answer, but ...
At my manager's request, I started playing around with TCP.INVITED_NODES. What we wanted to find out was if we could specify a range of client ip addresses rather than listing each one individually. My initial tests indicate "no". The documentation never specifically addresses the question, but the way things are worded seem to indicate "no".
But, since "you never know what you don't know" .... I thought I'd ask.
On a closely related item, are there any special considerations on the use of TCP.INVITED_NODES if some of your clients are coming through a VPN?

No, you can't specify range adresses.
Another way may be to use CMan (Connection Manager) which is a Database proxy and it allows range instead of listing each address.

  • Invalidation and multiple hosts.....

Is it possilbe to configure web cache invalidation across multiple hosts?
    Here is our situation:
    1. We have many distinct sites with distinct virtual hosts that are publically available... For example: http://myPublicSite1.foo.com/ and http://myPublicSite2.foo.com/
    2. For purposes of security, all our content managers are forced to access these sites to manage their content via an internal url that is only accessilble on our network... For example: http://myInternal.foo.com/
Our problem is that when edits are made via the internal url, the external sites are not updated with the most recent content.
We assume this is because invalidation is host based.
Any suggestions as to how we can serve up the most recent content on both hosts?
Thanks in advance for any help offered......

    Hi thanks for your responses...
We have a single mid-tier set with many access URL's ....
We have one single "inside URL" which is used for all content management of the many public URLS...
    We have multiple "outside/public" URLs....
I am double checking our site aliases further, but at first glance all looks to be configured correctly....
    Thanks again for your replies....

in any given jnlp file, all the resources must be downloaded from the same download host. In this way the SecurityManager can assign one permission collection to all the code loaded from that jnlp file (allowing socket permission only to that host).
If you have a jnl;p file with multiple resources loaded from differant hosts, re-factor the jnlp file so all of the resources loaded from a seperate host are in one component extension jnlp file.

  • CSA 6.0 Install on image / push to multiple hosts

Does anyone know if you can install CSA on a image and the push it to multiple hosts without issue? Im concerned that they my be (1) seen as the orignal parent-host or (2) not register with CSA-MC correctly.

We've done it successfully with 5.2 by not allowing it to register with the MC prior to creating the image.
We also sysprep the images before they roll out.
It is supposed to re-register if you change the NetBIOS name and it has done this successfully.
There may be other issues but we haven't seen them.

  • How to control one server with multiple clients via TCP/IP

I am wanting to control a single server with multiple clients.  Only one client would be active at a time, so there would be no conflict.  I want to use TCP/IP.  So far, I have programmed a cluster that passes data back to the server with no problems.  The challenge come in when a second client is added to the mix.  I have't been able to figure out how to turn each client on and send the appropriate data and then turn it off so it doesn't keep sending the same data to the server.
Here are the things that I have considered and did some preliminary testing, but don't really know how to impliment:
    1.  Send a numeric on the front of the cluster packet that tells the server that data is on the way.
    2.  Send a boolean on the front of the cluster packet to somehow turn the server TCP/IP on.
The problem I have found is that LabVIEW TCP/IP doesn't like to be turned on and off.  If it doesn't get the data it expects, it goes into a reset mode and that kills the response time.
    Any help?

You should consider implementing a set of simple one-byte commands that can be sent back and forth between the Server and the Clients. You can base all of these ideas off the example in the Example Finder under Networking >> TCP and UDP called Multiple Connections - Server.
You will have two loops in the server VI: one to wait for new connections, and one to send and receive data from the existing connections. For instance, after one of the clients connects, it can request control of the server to send data to it by sending the character "R" for request. Every time the send/receive loop of the Server executes, the first thing it can do is to check all the existing connections to see if any of the clients have sent a control request ("R"). If so, it will create a buffer (array) of control requests. This could be in the form of Connection IDs or indexes in the array for a particular Connection ID. Your choice.
After the Server receives a request for contol, if it is not already under control by another client, then it can send a response to the first client on the control request list. For instance, the server could send the first client a "S" command for send. Note that after the clients send their control request, they should execute a TCP Read and wait indefinitely for the server to respond with the one-byte "S" command. Then, once the client in control is finished sending data to the server, it could send the character "X" telling the Server to release it from control.
The example I mentioned above already does a similar thing. Note how when a client wants to disconnect, they send the letter "Q". You can see this in the Multiple Connections - Client VI. The Server then checks each individual connection to see if it's received this one-byte command, and if it has, it closes the connection to the client. This is what you would want to implement, but instead of having just one command, you'll have to distinguish between a few and build up a buffer of control requests.
Finally, if a client does decide to disconnect in your application, they could send the command "Q" just like the example above. At this point, close the connection and remove that Connection ID from the array of connections. You will also have to handle the case that this client was in the request control waiting line when it disconnected, in which case you need to delete it from that array as well.
This will definitely work for you, but it will take some work. Best of luck!
