Multiple IPSEC tunnels on ASA 5505

Configuring Multiple IPSEC tunnels on ASA 5505
Hi,
I  need to configure 2 diffrent type of IPSEC tunnels on my ASA 5505.  1st one is static ipsec tunnel already  configured between HO to site A and  2nd one is dynamic  to be configure between HO to site B since site B does not have static IP so I have to configure dynamic ipsec vpn.
I have following  clarification
1. After configuring dynamic ipsec Is my existing static ipsec tunnel will work simultenously?
2. can I apply different crypmap on the same outside interface? if not then what setting i need to do to make this work?
3. Do i need to create 1 more Nat0 or can i add in existing ACL which i have already created for previous.
kindly help me on this
Thanks in advance

  • How to set up Split Tunneling on ASA 5505

    Good Morning,
I have an ASA 5505 with security plus licensing.  I need to set up split tunneling on the ASA and not sure how.  I am very new to Cisco but am learning quickly.   What I want to accomplish, if possible is to send all traffic to our corporate web site (static ip address) straight out to the internet and all other traffic to go though the tunnel as normal.  Basically we have a remote office that is using a local ISP to provide internet service.  IF our connection at the main office goes down, we want the branch office to still be able to get to our corporate website without having to unplug cables and connect their computer directly to the local ISP modem.   Any help with be greatly appriciated.   Thanks in advance.  Below is a copy of our current config.

So I tried to use the exclude way that you suggested.   Here is my new config.   It is still not working.  The address I put in for the excluded list was 4.2.2.2  and when I do a trace route to it from the computer, it still goes though the vpn to the main office and out the switch at the main office and not from the local isp.   Any other suggestions?

  • How many IPSec Tunnels an ASA 5500 series supports

    Hi All,
I tried looking in ASA documentations but unable to find out that how many IPSec Tunnels can be terminated to an ASA cluster. I have 5545 running only two IPSec Tunnels so far but need to terminate 18 sites all up and would like to confirm how many tunnels we could terminate? Is there a limitaion to it?
    Thanks heaps
    Shan

Yes, there is a limit. But its far away from your requirement. On the 5545-X you can terminate 2500 VPN-Peers:

  • Creating Second tunnel in asa 5505 to accept from PIX506

One Cisco PIX at datacentre(remote) and one asa5505 and one PIX 506E at my office both are creating VPN to data centre but now i need to access asa n/w from pix n/w which are in the same LAN..

You should be able to implement policy NAT on one or both sides to accomplish what you want to do.

  • AP registration over IPSEC Tunnel(ASA)

    Guys,
I have my WAP sitting behind ASA and have ipsec tunnel between ASA and router.below is the topology:-
    WAP>>ASA<<< IPSEC TUNNEL>>> Router<<<WLC
Recently we have replaced router with ASA 5505 for security reasons and since then WAP is not able to registered to WLC. we have VPN tunnel up and working. Even WAP is able to ping to WLC ip address.
Do we have any special configuration in my ASA considering my above topology. I can confirm that capwap and lwap ports are opened in asa.
Please let me know if some one has faced this issue before.

    Hi,
I hope you have already allowed the below mentioned ports as per your requirement.
    You must enable these ports:
Enable these UDP ports for LWAPP traffic:
    Data - 12222
    Control - 12223
Enable these UDP ports for mobility traffic:
    16666 - 16666
    16667 - 16667
Enable UDP ports 5246 and 5247 for CAPWAP traffic.
TCP 161 and 162 for SNMP (for the Wireless Control System [WCS])
These ports are optional (depending on your requirements):
    UDP 69 for TFTP
TCP 80 and/or 443 for HTTP or HTTPS for GUI access
TCP 23 and/or 22 for Telnet or SSH for CLI access
Also if it goes over the IPSec VPN, MTU size  for the path between AP and WLC should be of 1500, if it has the lesser MTU, then communication fails.
Can you get me your WLC and ASA OS versions?
    Regards
    Karthik

  • ASA 5505 rookie - can't ping remote site or vice versa

Hi, I'm trying to setup an ipsec from an ASA 5505 (8.4) to a Sophos UTM (9.2)
Internet etc is up and accessible. Ipsec tunnel is up also but I can't pass traffic through it.
I get this message in the logs:

    SITE B (UTM 9) = 81.111.111.156
Any pointers would be good as this is the first time I've tried this. Thank you.

  • Unable to establish site to site vpn between asa 5505 an 5510

    Hi ALL expert
We are now plan to form a site to site IPSec VPN tunnel between ASA 5505 (ASA Version 8.4) and ASA 5510 (ASA Version 8.0) but failure, would you please teach me how to establish it? Any reference guide?
    Hugo

Here are the links to the cisco config-guides:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa80/configuration/guide/site2sit.html
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/configuration/guide/vpn_site2site.html
In addition to VPN you need to look into NAT exemption:

    And lots of examples:

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Site to site VPN IPSEC tunnel to an Clavister Firewall

    Hi,
I have weird problem with a Site to site VPN tunnel from a Cisco ASA 5505 to an Clavister Firewall.
When I restart the Cisco ASA 5505 the tunnel is up and down,up, down, down, and I get all strange messages when I see if the tunnel is up or down with the syntax: show crypto isakmp sa
After a while like 5-10 min the vpn site to site tunnel is up and here is the strange thing happening I have all accesslists and tunnel accesslists right I can only access one remote network (Main site Clavister Firewall) trought the vpn tunnel behind the Cisco ASA 5505, and I have 5 more remote networks that I want to access but only one remote network is working trought the vpn tunnel behind the Cisco ASA. I see that when I do this syntax in ASA: show crypto ipsec sa.
They had a Clavister Firewall before on that site before and now they have a Cisco ASA 5505 and all the rules on the main site thats have the big Clavister Firewall is intact so the problems are in the Cisco ASA 5505.
Here is some logs that ASDM give me about the tunnel issue, but like I said, the tunnel is up and only one remote network is reachable in that tunnel.....

    Best Regards
    Michael

    Hi,
I'd start by getting the configuration of the remote site related to Local/Remote network configurations and go through them. Even though no changes have been made.
If they are mirror images of eachother already I'd say its probably some problem related to Cisco/Clavister setup
Seems especially wierd to me that one of the error messages includes 0.0.0.0 lines.
I have run into some problems with L2L VPN configurations when our Cisco device just doesnt want to work with the remote end device. In some cases we have confirmed that our networks defined for the L2L VPN are exactly the same and yet when checking debugs on the ASA side we can see the remote end device using totally wrong network masks for the VPN negotiaton and therefore it failed. That problem we corrected with changing the network masks a bit.
Maybe you could try to change the Encryption Domain configurations a bit and test it then.
You could also maybe take some debugs on the Phase2 and see if you get anymore  hints as to what could be the problem when only one network is working for the L2L VPN.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 IPSec tunnel won't establish until remote site attempts to connect

I have a site to site IPSec tunnel setup and operational but periodically the remote site goes down, because of a somewhat reliable internet connection. The only way to get the tunnel to re-establish is to go to the remote site and simply issue a ping from a workstation on the remote network. We were having this same issue with a Cisco PIX 506E but decided to upgrade the hardware and see if that resolve the issue. It ran for well over a year and our assumtions was that the issue was resolved. I was looking in the direction of the security-association lifetime but if we power cycle the unit, I would expect that it would kill the SA but even after power cycling, the VPN does not come up automatically.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

We are not able to reach from 172.22.20.x ips 172.27.99.x.
It seems so that the phase2 for this subnet is missing…...... as long as we try to reach from 172.27.99.x any ip in 172.22.20.x.
We are using similar configuration on many sites and it works correctly expect sites with DSL line.
We can exclude problem with NAT,ACL or routing. The connection is working fine as long as “we open all phase 2 manually” . After re-open (idle timeout) the tunnel the problem comes back.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    on 212 is see
    tunnel-group 195.xxx.xxx.xxx type ipsec-l2l
    tunnel-group 195.xxx.xxx.xxx ipsec-attributes
    pre-shared-key
When you define the peer with static tunnel-group entry ASA is looking for peer configuration in static crypto map. If the peer is behind static NAT configure a proper static crypto map with matching acl and proposals.
If the peer is behind dynamic nat refer this example :http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/pix-500-series-security-appliances/81883-ipsec-iosrtr-dyn-pix-nat.html

  • Cisco ASA 5505 site to site Multiple subnet.

Hi. I need some help configuring my cisco asa 5505.
I've set up a VPN tunnel between two ASA 5505
    Site 1:
    Subnet 192.168.77.0
    Site 2:
Have multiple vlans and now the tunnel goes to vlan400 - 192.168.1.0
    What I need help with:
From site 1 i need to be able to reach another vlan on site 2. vlan480 - 192.168.20.0
    And from site 1 I need to reach 192.168.77.0 subnet from vlan480 - 192.168.20.0
Vlan480 is used for phones. In vlan480 we have a PABX central.
    Is this possible to do?
Any help would be greatfully appreciated!

    Hi,
The addition of a new network to the existing L2L VPN should be a pretty simple process.
Essentially you will have to add the network to the Crypto ACL present in the "crypto map" configurations. You will also have to configure the NAT0 configuration for it in the proper interfaces of the ASA. These configurations are all done on both ends of the L2L VPN connection.
Looking at your above configurations it would seem that you will need the following configurations
    SITE 1
We add the new network to both the crypto ACL and the NAT0 ACL
    access-list outside_1_cryptomap extended permit ip 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
    access-list inside_nat0_outbound extended permit ip 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
    SITE 2
We add the new network to the crypto ACL
We create a new NAT0 configuration for the Vlan480 interface as it has no previous NAT0 configuration
    access-list outside_20_cryptomap_1 extended permit ip 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0
    access-list VLAN480-NAT0 remark NAT0 for VPN
    access-list VLAN480-NAT0 permit ip 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.77.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (vlan480-Telefoni) 0 access-list VLAN480-NAT0
These configurations should pretty much do the trick.
Let me know if it worked

  • ASA 5505 - L2TP over IPsec - Remote Address shows outside interface address

Using an ASA 5505 for firewall and VPN.  We've enabled L2TP over IPsec to allow Windows clients to connect without third party software.
The devices complete the connection and authenticate fine, but then are unable to hit any internal resources.  Split tunneling seems to be working, as they can still hit outside resources.  Packet tracer shows tcp flowing freely between VPN clients (192.168.102.0/24) and internal resources (192.168.100.0/24).  Even the NAT translation looks good in packet tracer.
I pulled up the session details for one of the VPN clients in the ASDM and under the IPsecOverNatT details, it is showing the VPN client's remote address correctly, but displays the local address as the address assigned to the outside interface (which the client is using to connect.)  This seems to be the problem, as viewing detailed connection logs shows the internal resources trying to send packets back to the outside interface rather than the VPN client's assigned internal addresses.  Details:
Crypto map tag: SYSTEM_DEFAULT_CRYPTO_MAP, seq num: 65535, local addr: [OUTSIDE INTERFACE ADDRESS]

Any ideas?  The remote clients connect but when internal resources try to send traffic to the VPN clients, the packets are directed to the outside interface address instead of the local address assigned to the VPN client.

I have what I believe to be a similar issue. Site to site vpn is working well. That is site b can ping and send traffic to site A but Site A can not. Site B is a 3rd party vpn router. Site A is a Cisco 5505.
It appears that when the crypto map inserts the route into the routing table it shows the route via the outside IP of the outside interface and not the IP of Site B. in the crypto map I can see the proper ip address for the peer. I can't figure out why when it inserts the route that it uses the wrong ip address

  • ASA 5505 IPSEC VPN connected but can't access to LAN

    ASA : 8.2.5
    ASDM: 6.4.5
    LAN: 10.1.0.0/22
    VPN Pool: 172.16.10.0/24
Hi, we purcahsed a new ASA 5505 and try to setup IPSEC VPN via ASDM; i just simply run the Wizards, setup vpnpool, split tunnelling, etc.
I can connect to the ASA by using cisco VPN client and internet works fine on the local PC, but it cannot access to the LAN (can't ping. can't remote desktop). I tried the same thing on our Production ASA(those have both Remote VPN and Site-to-site VPN working), the new profile i created worked fine.
Below is my configure, do I mis-configure anything?

I change  a Machine's gateway to this ASA and capture again, now we can see some reply.
All ohter PCs and switches gateway are point to another ASA, maybe that's the reason why i didn't work?
what's the recommanded way to make our LAN to have two 2 gateways(for load balance or backup router, etc)?
add two gateways to all PCs and swtichwes?

  • Vpn site to site isa 570 to asa 5505 multiple local lan

Hello, i have configured a site to site vpn with a asa 5505
In the tunnel will pass the network 172.x.x.x/16 and 192.168.x.x/24 from local isa to a single lan 192.168.x.x/24 on remote asa
I have create a group network address and i put the the default_lan and the other lan in it
In the tunnell configuration i have use this group address with local lan parameter
When the tunnel was up in the routing table i view the remote lan on interface ipsec0 but also i view the local lan on  interface ipsec0
Is this configuration n ot supported?
    Thank best regards

    Hello, thank for answer.
The problem is that tha second lan is a routing static lan.
The ip address of ISA is 172.16.10.254/16 and the default_lan is 172.16.0.0/16
The second lan is 202.1.1.0/24 and it is a staic lan on another gateway.
When the site-to-site ipsec go up in routing table i see three route on interface ipsec0:
The remote lan, the default-lan (that is also on default interface. Behaviour?) and a subnet lan 172.16.10.0/24.
If i ping from a lan pc an ip of subnet 172.16.10.0/24, i see that the arp is equal at mac-address of ISA and i have a problem on the lan. It's normal?
    Best regards
