Multiple JREs installed only 1.5 loads and works

I originally installed jdk/jre 1.5 on a new computer. I then needed to use an applet that requred a version of 1.4.2 (1.5 will not run the applet without errors). I then installed jre 1.4.2 and attempted to configure IE to use it instead of 1.5 but it will not. Clicking the icon in the system tray always displays jre 1.5 spash screen once an applet is loaded.
I then uninstalled jre 1.5, and IE hangs when an applet tries to load. I uninstalled and reinstalled jre 1.4 and IE still hangs. I reinstalled jre 1.5 and other applets work - except the one I need (back to the original errors). IE, however, does not stop responding as when 1.5 is not installed.
Solutions?
Thank you.

Thanks for the URL.
I have been through all this configuration documentation and I'm not sure it relates to my problem. I think my subject title is misleading
My problem is that any version other than jre 1.5 causes my browser to stop responding (I have only tried 1.4.x). The problem even extends to Java Web Start. Its splash screen comes up and then goes away and nothing more.
When I go to the windows task manager/processes I find a "javaw" for each time I tried starting something.
I tried turning on the logs for JWS but nothing gets logged.
Is there a log file for the plugin that may indicate some error that might be taking place?
Thanks

  • Multiple JREs installed - how to select correct one?

    Hi all
I have multiple JREs installed on my computer, which I need to keep.
I'm doing some development, and when I try to run the class, I get the following error:

    Thanks again.
However, it appears the PATH variable may be a red herring.
If I set the class path to exclude the jre6 directory, as follows:
    C:\oracle\ora92\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.3.1\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files\Gemalto\GACThen the following error occurs:

I have a desktop machine windows 7 based with CS5 loaded and working without problem. I have recently purchased a laptop running 8.1 windows.  I have loaded the cs5 package onto the laptop and it appears to work but when I try to update, although  I am being told there are updates it attempts to download the update but then tells me there is a problem and to quit and try again later.. I have tried a number of times to download the updates but itkeeps telling  me to quit and try later. what is wrong please?

There could be a 32 bit vs 64 bit issues-is the old machine a 32 bit? and what is the new machine as far as 32/64 bit. I am not sure now if CS5 has in the help menu of the PS app the selection to update within PS if so that might work. I know that the Creative cloud app for installs updates  etc has caused me much consternation  over the last couple few years. Last it could be something like your Software firewall settings or  anti-virus anti malware programs. I know that updating the infamous adobe flash that Internet Explorer pop ups setting and having AV turned on as opposed to off can interfere or plain break the update ability

  • Need to load multiple skins with only a single .swf and config.xml

    Hello
These are part of some instructions that were of a AS3 Mp3 Store I purcased
Well guys the new AS3 flash cart system can have skins hot swapped in and out with out having to recompile the actionscript code.
You can even have multiple skins on the same cart and use different ones in different places of your website.
This is all because the flash cart system itself runs seperate from the graphical user interface that the customer visits.
When you purchase a new cart skin, or if you edit your own custom skin, you can place the swf file for it in the "skins" directory of your flash cart installation directory. Then in the config file where you "embed" the cart on your website you include the name of the skin you'd like to use (the skin MUST be available in your skins directory).
The other plus to using the skin system is you can keep the cart application seperate from your site. No longer do you have to have all that ugly php code and cramped swf files floating along side your website html files. No instead you create an install directory then simply embed the cart from where ever it is. The only litigation is that the cart must exist on the same server as the website you are showing it publicly on.
So right now I have a website with the store set up and working, allowing the buyer  to listen to the tracks, add to cart and checkout after which they are given an instant download link to the purcased files.
What I want to do now though is break up the songs into differents carts/skins within a dropdown list in my website as quoted in the instructions above, according to genre.
So I have published 4 different skins  as
    MusicSkin 1.fla
    MusicSkin 2.fla
    MusicSkin 3.fla
    MusicSkin 4.fla
and have placed these on my server
The cart works by Index.html > loads the Main.swf >loads MusicSkin.fla which is called by via config.xml
    (<?xml version="1.0"?>
    -<config><skin src="MusicSkin"/><db src="/" sandbox="false" type="sql"/></config>
I am having trouble configuring how to call on 4 different Skins into different pages on my site if I only have ONE index.html, Main.swc and config.xml files which according to the instructions is possible!
Hope this makes sense, I get how it works on one skin but not how it works/or to make it work with multple ones on a website.

    Is this possible...anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really hoping to getting this working soon.
I am wondering if i have to copy the instances of the different skins into the config file above and each swf and html file loads the corresponding on in the list, or does each instance require it's own config file, which would then be a problem I think, because I could not have 4 config.xml files in the same directory which is what the Action Script is calling on.

  • Finding the multiple JRE installed path in Linux OS

for my requirement on finding the JRE installaiton folder on windows and Linux machines , I can able to get it in windows but I am facing problem in getting the jre installed path from Linux machine. I am using Debian etch OS. Can anyone help me to find the installed path of JRE in Linux machine using a Java program. I need to find the multuiple JRE installed paths, i.e. my java program should find all the JRE installed paths and versions of the same.
    Thanks in advance.

As per the terminal prompt its ok...but i need the java concept to retrieve the versions and installed paths of the all JRE.
e.g;For current JRE we can get by,
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.version"));
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.home"));
    Output:
    1.5.0_10
    /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.10/jre
    If i installed 1.3 and 1.4 also.,
How can i get installed paths and versions for all three 1.3,1.4 and 1.5 JRE's

    Hello Rachet Jaw,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes. I found a few articles I suggest for the issue you described.
If you are getting a white screen when accessing the iTunes Store, I recommend reviewing this article:

If you are still not able to access the store or are getting a different error than just a white screen, I recommend the following articles:

  • How can I install only OS on SSD and have the HDD only for apps?

I am looking to buy an SSD and install it in my CD area of the macbook pro with an adapter. But I wanted to know if it's possible to instal only my OS on the SSD and have the HDD only for Apps/Software....Is this possible and if so how can I do this?

I suppose you could do this by just installing Mountain Lion onto your SSD, and then move your applications folder and documents to the HDD.
But I would be wary of doing this because:
It seems like it would defeat the purpose of having a SSD, that is to make your computer fast. The computer would have to switch back and forth between the SSD and the HDD. Sounds like that would unnecessarily complicate things.
I like to keep things simple. I think the software engineers at Apple know what they are doing and I just keep things installed simply and the way they intend them. Then they seem to work. I put a SSD in my laptop about a year ago and it works perfectly. I haven't had a problem with my computer in a very, very long time.
This doesn't mean that you can't have a lot of files stored on a secondary drive somewhere, whether it is on an internal or external drive. But I'd keep the system software and apps where they belong, on the drive where the installer puts them.
And this doesn't mean that you can't try your plan and see how it works.

  • Facebook won't load properly. Takes forever and then I get a script page with log-in and then that takes forever and gives me further script that won't let me access anything. Other sites load and work OK!

Started after last auto update several days ago. A few other sites are slow to load while many are good but Facebook just won't present it's usual mix of pre-programmed scripts and links but comes up eventually as part HTML script with a log-in box and when you log-in it then takes forever again and just gives HTML type script for "Friends" "messages" etc. but if you click these it goes nowhere!
Also it won't let me clear history at all despite many tries. I removed and reloaded the program last night but no positive effect.

I still haven't resolved this problem. Here is some more information...
youtube is the only website that has started working, but it sometimes stops working again.
There are many other sites that don't work, cnn.com, washingtonpost.com (sometimes), and a lot of others.
I have contacted our internet service provider and they said that they had nothing to do with the problem.
Some websites will not work at all. Safari tells me that it can't find the server. Some that do this are ups.com, computerworld.com, and others.
I think that the problem is that, for some reason, our mac computers can't access certain servers where we are. (We are at a small ski resort (on the mountain) in Canada.) I think this because when a site doesn't load properly there are several errors and they are all "can't find host" errors from a couple of the same sites (ex. example.something.something).
*Also, I ran a test on speedtest.net on the laptop and one of our iMacs and the results were way faster than anything actually loads/downloads or than the activity monitor shows, even when checking the activity monitor at the same time as running the test.

  • JNI (Java from C) -- multiple JREs installed, need to use non-default one

    Hello,
I don't know how many Google/forum searches I must have tried -- I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.
I am calling Java from C. We have two types of environments:
    (1) 1.3/1.4 mix, and
    (2) 1.4 only.
The mixed environments are configured to use 1.3 by default. This configuration will not be changed. The original developer's code needs backported to the mixed environment, but it has been discovered that his Java code is not 1.3-compatible.
Since the code is not compatible with 1.3, I need a way to bypass the default JRE setting and get JNI to start a 1.4 JVM. Is there a way to do this?
    Thank you for your help.

My "solution" is a kludge. It attempts to compensate
for what I thus far believe to be an apparent lack of
functionality. I believe the functionality I
described should exist in JNI so that little jewels
like my "solution" are not needed. What I am doing
is improper. Therefore, I respectfully disagree with
you.Except that your OP suggested that if you could replace it with 1.4 then that would be suitable solution.
So if that is a suitable solution and you can in fact modify the JNI code then that is a solution that meets all of your needs.
Regardless however you will note that the "The Java Native Interface" book in chapter 7 provides a specific section which
    1. Specifically points out why you can't depend on a generic VM loading mechanism
    2. Provides a specific mechanism which is OS/Platform specific, for doing runtime loading of the VM presuming certain constraints are followed.

Since upgrading to 12, I am unable to scroll in a tab until that tab finishes loading. Worse yet, I'm unable to scroll in ANY tab if one of multiple is loading. Further: I cannot even switch tab views if ANY tab is loading. I have not changed any settings. This only started when upgrading to 12. Oh how I would love to roll it back to 11. Is anyone else seeing this happen?

Done look at the original thread logs are below... I'm thinking that the key is no longer in the cache at the point the processor fires?
I can also assure you that there is only to instance of coherence running
1- The actual cache server node
2- The client, set to localstorage = false
I ensure the cache server starts and then I start the client.

  • Internet Problem - One site will load, another won't. Then mintues later, the site that previously would load won't and the one that wouldn't will. I'm also pulling up a lot of pages in all text. Pics won't load or only one will load and the rest won't...

Several weeks ago, I began to have some very strange internet connection issues. All the lights on my modem stay on and my computer shows full wi-fi signal, but I suddenly I won't be able to load any pages. Other times, I'll be able to load pages from one site, but not another. It's not the same sites all the time though.... sometimes I'll be able to load pages from one site and not another, and then 5 minutes later it'll switch and I'll be able to load pages from the site I previously couldn't and I won't be able to load pages from the site I previously could. A lot of pages are coming up just text with no pics... and then 5 mintues later that site will load normally and another site will come up just text. It does the same thing whether I'm connecting wirelessly or via an ethernet cable. It also doesn't matter which browser I use (I've tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox). Although, once in a while when using chrome, I get a DNS error page instead of the usual 'cannot find server'. I contacted my service provider and I'm not losing speed or dropping packets. According to them, the problem I'm having is very strange since diagnostic tests show no problems at all. Perhaps someone has run into this before and has a suggestion?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

  • Multiple instance install of NW 7.0 and ECC 6.0

I have a box that is running NW 7.0.  I'd like to install an instance of ECC 6.0(IDES) on the same server.  Can I do this and still make the NW 7.0 completely separate from ECC 6.0?  Would they use different databases?  Ideally, I don't won't to affect my NW 7.0 installation by installing ECC.  I know there may be a performance hit but the box can handle it.  Any tips on how to do the additional install.  Is the installer going to ask me any questions about joining an existing NW instance?
    Thank you,

    Hi tony,
Answer is Yes you can do it as you want with any RDBMS software .The thing you keep in mind you dont need to install database software again if you want to use same software  like if you are already using oracle and stil want to use it simply start sapinst to install ECC,and it also does not effect you existing system as ECC will create new database.
So you can do it without affecting existing system but keep in mind Performance .:)
