Multiple KF in BPC

Hello All,
We have KF Model in BW with four Kf's and now we want implement this design in Account based model in BPC.
Based on scn threads...we have created user defined dimension ZKEFIGURE in BPC and assigned four KF's as members to ZKEFIGURE in BPC.
And In Transfomation file we have coded it as
ACCOUNT=0ACCOUNT
BATCH=ZBATCH
TIME=0FISCPER
ENTITY=0COMP_CODE
CATEGORY=*NEWCOL(PLAN)
RPTCURRENCY=*NEWCOL(USD)
ZKEYFIGURE=*MVAL(ZRETARTA1|*NEWCOL(ZRETARTA1)||ZRETARTQ1|*NEWCOL(ZRETARTQ1))
Error:
just saying : Command Error: Newcol(
Validation with file failed.

Not Sure...How does it behave BPC 10NW Version ?
But it works for me with the below code....and this happened after 'n' number of trails with the small changes in dimension members as well.
ZKEYFIGURE=*MVAL(ZRETARTA1|*NEWCOL(AMOUNT)||ZRETARTQ1|*str(QUANTITY))
I have seen many experts are saying *MVAL is only for Time Dimension and *MKEY is for Multiple KF's but in my case it works in reverse with *MVAL.
As a BW consultant I am very new to BPC....... If you have any idea please let me know.

How to handle Multiple Keyfigures in BPC

Hi,
My BW cube is Keyfigure based, have 0quantity and 0amount. BPC cube is Account based it just has only one keyfigure,however there is a way to post multiple keyfigures to BPC by using MVAL keyword. Not sure how I can use this. Can someone throw more inputs on this.

Having more dimensions, in my opinion is addl pain while creating reports and Input Templates.

in SAP BW there r 2 main approaches in modilling infocubes:
1. Account Model
2. Keyfigure Model
Account model as u know is an approach when there is only 1 keyfigure in a cube.
Keyfigure model is as approach to create multiple keyfigures in a cube.
In different situations it might be useful to implement 1 or another approach. SAP BPC automatically creates cubes with only 1 keyfigure and there is no possibility to create standart multiple keyfigures via frontend.

I'm trying to re-produce a IP Planning scenario in BPC. We have a cube with multiple different keyfigures(ex: A,B,C)
When we are creating application in applicationset we can create all characteristics of BI cube(IP Scenario) as dimensions in BPC then how can we handle keyfigures of BI Cube(IP Scenario) in BPC?
I heared BPC will support only single keyfigure(Signeddata) but my scenario is not suitable for account base model in BI.
BI Cube contains multiple keyfigures(ex:A,B.C)
Please advice on the model to acheive in BPC as i',m new to BPC.

Can we enter data in multiple currencies in BPC

Hi all,
In BPC, is it possible to enter data in transaction currencies other than in local currency? For example, if the local currency of an entity is USD, but I need to enter data for the same Accounts in EUR, MYR and SGD as well and not have the system translate the amount in local currency to EUR, MYR and SGD.

Thanks for your response.
There are several reasons why we might need to enter the data in various currencies other than the local currency.
Firstly, like you have mentioned, we need to enter the local as well as the translated currency amounts for accounts that have to be translated at historical rates. Examples of such accounts will be equity account as you have pointed out. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that it is possible to enter an amount in translated currency in addition to entering the amount in local currency?
Secondly, due to requirements of a relatively new accounting standard, companies need to quantify the sensitivity of any exposures to a foreign currency to foreign exchange rates changes.
For example, the local currency Entity A is USD and it has a bank deposit in SGD 200. If the exchange rate at report date is USD 1 to SGD 2, the SGD bank deposit will be translated and reported as USD 100. Accounting standard requires the company to quantify how much the company will stand to gain or lose if the foreign exchange goes up by 10% or goes down by 10%.
Thirdly, accounting standard also dictates that company discloses exposures to all currencies for financial instruments not denominated in the functional currency of the entity.

Multiple hierarchies in BPC

If an has 3 hierarchies, which hierarchy will be shown in the Member selector dialog box when we click on the dimension to select a different member for the current view?

It is related or linked to your Security, if you have total access, you can see all the members of that particular dimension
with the hierachies. You have a radio button to choose " Hierarchy" and "Table". You choose according to your requirement.

Hi Kumar,
I have implemented a design studio on top of a BPC model by enabling the "use a source of data" in the BPC Admin website - it creates a multiprovider (name /CPMB/xxx) and we can then create bex queries on top of it with some limitations (no currency convertion by eg.).
Design studio is managing this query as a standard BEX query - Only to display data ...

PS: Please pay attention with multiple systems as BPC objects can have different names when transported (attributes). All references of BPC objects in Design studio would be then incorrect.

Security on the Input Schedule

Hi,
How does the Sceurity work on one global input schedule across multiple users in BPC. Does locking not be an issue when multiple users accessing the same input schedule at the same time. Can someoen tell me how locking works.

Hi,
In general Locking works depending on the quantity of data you send to the system and different combinations of dimension members across which you send the data.
1) If the transaction has less than 10 data which is sent to the system then the locking is at record level.
2) If the transaction has more than 10 data to be sent to the system then it performs sparsity check for the transaction and locks the data accordingly.
a transaction is said to be Sparse when X>Y,
Where,
X=Number of dimensions *Number of unique members in each dimensions
Y=Number of records * 5
In case of executing a data Manager packages the locking is done for a package of data which contains large set of data records.
The number of records a package contains for different application can be maintained using the parameter PACKAGE_SIZE in the transaction UJR0.
You also find other parameters related to locking in the same transaction.
But atlast the locking of data accessed concurrently is well managed by the system itself and we need not worry much about that.

Prevention of Concurrent Log In

Hi,
I am using BPC 7.0 MS
With standard BPC, concurrent log in using the same combination of UserID and Password is allowed. How does one prevent concurrent log in though?
I have received multiple suggestions:
- modifying BPC authentication / authorization source codes (not recommended),
- IIS
- Active Directory
- third party security software such as eSSO, SiteMinder
I am especially curious about the possibility of preventing concurrent log in using either IIS or AD. Does anyone have any comments on this issue?

Citrix actually provide better performances.
It is true that customer has to do a new investment in hardware and software because they have to buy a server for citrix and they have to but citrxi licenses.
But regarding performances users will have even better performances.
You can not do anything with IIS and AD to prevent multiple login for an users.
Regarding IIS you don't have any option to do that and regarding AD then it will happen another issue.
If the users is connect to one PC he will not be able to connect from another PC with his user.
I hope this will help you to provide the right suggestion to customer.

Multiple SQL Queries in SAP BPC 5.1 EVMODIFY

We have multiple SQL Queries in Outlooksoft 4.2 which extracts data from Oracle source system with different set of selections and conditions and parameters. We were able to use multiple SQL Queries in Outlooksoft 4.2 using Transform Data Flow Task and paste parameters using evModify dynamic script task, where ever extract to source system is needed.
According to SAP BPC 5.1, all these multiple SQL Queries and extracts by passing parameters will be coded in EVMODIFY dynamic script editor.But, EVMODIFY dynamic script editor is not working with the sets of multiple SQL Queris.It's able to recognize and execute the first SQL Query, but not able to execute from the second SQL Query.
Does any body, did multiple extracts using SQL Queries to the source system by passing parameters using SAP BPC 5.1 data manager and SSIS Packages, please let me know, how you did achieve the above functionality.

Thanks for your update, I tried declaring the variable between %%....GLOBAL(%GTIMEID%,%SELECTION%) and the package runs now but the problem is that the package is executed using the default date value for the variable GTIMEID declared in the DTSX package and its not taken the date that I'm trying to pass from BPC. BPC 7.5 - Multiple Usernames in the owner property for Work Status Update

Good Day,
We have an issue in our BPC system, where our organisation dimension(entity) has an owner property which is maintained with multiple usernames. The issues comes in when we have to update the Work status for locking. The system recognises the first username as the owner property and only that first username can change or update the workstatus in BPC. We have a problem with that because we have a team of people that manages process.
The error that we get when one of the usernames other than the first one tries to update the work status is - "User not a Manager/Owner, Work status cannot be updated".
Please advise of the solution we are BPC 7.5 SP17

Model multiple key figures of BI cube to BPC

Hi Experts,Probably a good way of having multiple Key figure values from BI to BPC is to convert it into a account based model (create a dimension and have the key figures as dimension members).I have this scenraio where we are using COPA (costing based) for BPC mgmt consol.This costing based COPA cube in BI has around 120 Key figures.Pls advice on the best way to medel this scnerio in BPC where i would probably need most of those Kf's.I am also looking at how i could reduce separate transformation files/mappings from BI to BPC also on the same..

Thank you Pravin and Ajay for your valuable suggestions and time.what i would like to clarify is on the transformations.Let us say i have my BI cube as costing based itself and this i need to map to BPC dimension.
BI structure- char1 ,char 2,char 3 ,KF1(value field 1),KF2(value field 2),KF3(valuefield3),KF4....
In BPC ,lets say we have a separate dimension (i guess this should be of account type or probably user defined one) which would have dimension members as KF1,KF2,KF3,KF4....
Now how would i do the mapping/transformations from BI to BPC? would i need to have 4different transformation files (assuming i have 4 KF's in my BI cube) for each KF & char combination and thus to load data also many times.
How to achieve modelling side of this situation.any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

BPC Client tool configuration for multiple appset selection

is there any way to configure BPC client to select multiple applications simulteniously instead of closing one application to select another application, nothing but multiple BPC sessions at a time like SAP GUI sessions.

Hi,
I guess you are talking about BPC excel. You cant have different sessions in BPC. If you open a report1 from application1 and then if you want to open report2 from application2, you need to change the CV. Once the report2 has been opened in application2, the CV of report1 will still show application1. However, if you want to refresh report1, it will access application2. The CV of the last opened report holds valid for all the previously opened reports.
Having said this, we do have a workaround for the above problem. When you open report1 from application1, go to workbook options and click on "save the active session CV with this workbook". Then you can change your CV to application2 to open report2. And again do the same thing for report2 as well. With this, both the reports will work in their own region. However, you wont be able to change the CV. Even if you do change the CV, the report will not be refreshed based on the new CV. It will still work for the saved CV.

But hyperlinks don't work unless it is clicked multiple times (like atleast 3 -5 times)

BPC for Excel: Are multiple key ranges really possible?

Hi Experts,
in a training document I found to possibility of multiple key ranges, to make an input schedule sheet more attractive or insert rows with excel formulas etc.
For example: ColKeyRange: EVRNG(H13:J13;M13:O13)
RowKeyRange: EVRNG(G15:G20;L15:L20)
In my case I want the balance sheet separated. On the left side asset positions, on the right side liability positions (in columns for bot: Previous Year | Actual | Plan
If I define my input schedule like that it gets messed up. No figures, weird formatting etc. Have you implemented an input schedule with multiple key ranges and did it work ok?

Hi Cora,
Yes, multiple key ranges do work, but it is a bit complicated as Dzmitry suggests. Your example row expansion will not work, as the row expansion needs to remain in the same columns for each part of the expansion. (In other words, EVRNG(G15:G20;L15:L20) is wrong but EVRNG(G15:G20;G25:G30) is ok.) To achieve your result, Dzmitry is correct that you will probably need to use two EVDREs.
That said, multiple expansions work as follows:
If you are not using an expansion, or you use NOEXPAND in your columns or rows, you can use a multiple key range for formatting purposes and simply hardcode in the members that you wish to see in each key range.
If you want to see different expansions in each key range, then you need to use a special expansion syntax. To take your example, say you have a single dimension in your column with column range defined EVRNG(H13:J13;M13:O13). You could have your column expansion on the category dimension be "PRIORYR,ACTUAL,PLAN|PLAN,ACTUAL,PRIORYR", giving you the same set of categories reversed in each column.
