Multiple Ledgers

Our client is having a business of downstream petroleum distribution. 75% of Business is of exports and balance local. currently the statutory reports are sent to government which include Export business and local.
As part of EBS 12.1 implementation and during the reqirement phase message was clear that they would like to separate the local business and transit business. Another requirement was export products should be stored at USD currency since the exports are in USD and convertion into local currency will attract Exchage rates on every posting to GL and subledger.
To overcome this the proposed solution is create 2 ledgers with local currency and USD to handle local and Export Business respectively and consolidate into third ledger. once the offshore company is ready to handle the export transactions the business can have independent Financial statements.
Request all the Gurus to validate the above solution as per the best practices and suggest a way forward. I am open to from all Gurus.

Hi Mirella,
Two ledger can share the same table group and it can be extracted into BW at the same time. But you need to create two data sources for the two ledgers since the FI-SL data sources are dependent on the ledgers. That is one data source (summary / line item) per ledger.
First you need to generate the extract structures for the summary and line item tables using BW01, then go to BW03 to assign the data sources to the individual ledgers.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Soumya

  • How to do Asset postings to multiple ledgers in different company codes?

    Dear All,
what settings I need to do to satisfy the followoing need:
I have two company codes. One company code c1 has only Leading ledger and the other company code c2 has leading and local ledgers. From Asset accounting point of view:
    1. Can I create one US chart of depreciation and multiple depreciation areas to satify this? The Asset classes are same for both company codes? I will use one area 01 to leading ledger ( for both c1, c2), another area 30 to C2 company for local and another area 31 for c2 for difference of both the initial areas (30 - 1). Will this work?
    or
    2. Do I need to create two separate US chart of depreciations to satisfy the need?
    Regards,
    Giri.

    Hi Giri,
First of all few points you need to consider. If both of your companies C1 and C2 are in US than technically speaking you should only create 1 chart of depreciation instead of creating 2 separate for each company. The more chart of depreciation you create the more maintenance it requires. This chart of depreciation gets assigned as company code level. Also, by default postings from your leading ledger gets replicated in your non-leading ledger unless you specifically post in one specific ledger only.
So considering above facts, for your approach # 1, any postings for comp code C1 needs to go only in your leading ledger - area 01 (making sure that it doesnt replicate in area 30) and for comp code C2 you can let it default it to area 30 and get the difference from area 31.
For your approach # 2, you will have more maintenance but atleast 2 separate chart of depreciations (COD) where in 1 COD you can specify area 01 and in 2nd COD you can specify area 01 and 30.
Hopefully this helps littlebit on your approach.

  • How do I create a GL responsibility to access multiple ledgers (error trying to run Financial report submission)

I created a new GL responsibility and used the same menu as an existing one but created a new data access set that has all the ledgers in it that we want to access.
I left the following profile options with no value.  The reason being is this responsibility should not be tied to any org/ledger.
    MO: Operating Unit
    GL Ledger ID
    GL Ledger Name
This all seems to be working fine except when the users try to access Financial Report Submission.  The error that appears when trying to choose a ledger when running the report.
    Error: Stale Data
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
I have cleared the browser cache and cache was cleared by functional administrator.  In this case it really doesn't seem to be anything to do with the browser's back button being used (I didn't use it) since I can make this error go away by setting the value for GL Ledger Name.  But that is not what the users want since that will restrict them to a specific ledger but they should be able to run the report for any ledger.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Multiple legal entities in one Request Set

Hi, I have a question that hopefully someone can help with. It will make life so much easier here!
In our environment on 11.5.9, we have multiple legal entities each a separate set of books.
We're trying to create a request set to run multiple financial reports at once for multiple legal entities. Since a responsibility is tied to one set of books, we can't find a way to run the request set under a responsibility where it will work for all. Today we switch hats and run separately for each. Is there a workaround here to get this to work?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kevin

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this Kevin in 11i version of the application ....
In R12 version of the application, a new feature called Ledger Set is introduced, in which you can club more than one ledgers and can execute FSG reports for multiple ledgers within a single responsibility ....

  • Is it possible to upgrade MRC SOB's in 11i as Secondary Ledgers in R12

We have a specific business requirement to convert current MRC Sets of Books as Secondary Ledgers when we upgrade to Oracle r12. My questions are as following
    1. Is this feasible to do?
    2. If yes what are the options?
    3. Can we change the setup in 11i to convert a MRC set of books to a Statutory Set of Books with dual postnig so it could upgrade as a Secondary Ledger?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
i am unable to find any reference from oracle stating that your requirement is NOT FEASIBLE ... However the intended functionality of the Upgrade scripts is to create reporting currency ledgers in R12 for your Reporting set of books in 11i .....
Secondary ledger is a new concept in Release 12, it is not an extension or replacement to any feature in 11i, hence i highly doubt a standard script can map an Reporting Set of Books in 11i to a Secondary Ledger in R12...
However do log a service request from oracle to get this confirmed ...

  • Capitalization of an investment order/project - Original cost elements

    Hi all,
I do have a question concerning the capitalization of an investment order/investment project onto an asset under construction (AuC).
I have configured the system in a way, using capitalization key and capitalization versions, that I can capitalize 100 % of the costs within the IFRS depreciation area to the AuC and 0 % of the costs within my local gaap depreciation area to the AuC.
Instead of capitalizing the costs within the local gaap depreciation area, the cost are booked to the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D.
With the settlement of the investment order/investment project to the AuC the original cost accounts/cost elements (shared between IFRS and local gaap) are credited and the AuC is debited for the IFRS deprecation area and the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D is debited for the local gaap depreciation area.
My problem is, that I do not want to have the costs for my local gaap P&L on the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D, I do want to have them instead on the corresponding local gaap cost accounts/cost elements to  the original shared cost accounts/cost elements within FI and CO.
Is there any possibility to do this within SAP Standard?
(If possible the solution should also work within New GL, using multiple ledgers for parallel accounting instead of different account)
    Thank you!
    Regards

    Hi Prad,
    I am on 4.6C/D.
Please check on your settings for Capitalization of AUCs created through Investment Support Measures: -
    1. Go to the IMG, Asset Accounting under Special Valuation and determine the Depreciation Areas you would like your Investment Support Measures to post to.
    2. Still in Special Valuation, define an Investment Support Key and assign it to the relevant depreciation area
    3. Also, define the relevant account determination for such posting under the Special Valuation
    4. Proceed in the same area to define the Transaction type for the Investment Support Measure by changing any of the Standard ones in there in line with your requirements
    5. Now move back to IMG, Asset Accounting then Master Data. Here you go to the screen layout and pick the relevant asset class for AUCs. Get this logical feild group and pick on the item Investment Support. Proceed to define its feild group rule as optional at the required asset maintenance level (Main Asset and/or Sub Level)
    6. Leave the IMG and access the relevant AUC's Master Data from the User Menu. Click the tab Investment Support and insert the Investment Support Key you created in note 2 above
    7. Now capitalise the AUC. Should work

  • Forex valuation in New gl

    Dear All,
Can some one please update on the forex valuation in NEWGL scenario and specially the reversal at the beginning of the subsequent month.
    Thanks and regards,
    Gokul.

    HI Tony,
The new Foreign currency valuation program. FAGL_FC_VALUATION uses the ledger group assigned to the valuation area to determine the ledger(s) from which balance is to be read for valuation. If the ledger group assigned to the valuation area contains only a single ledger, this ledger is used for the selection of the balances. If more than one ledger is contained in the ledger group assigned to the valuation area, each ledger is valuated individually
However, The postings for the valuation of balances are made using the ledger group that has the same name as the ledger being valuated. For example, if ledger group Z1 is assigned to the valuation area, which contains ledgers 0L and ledger L1, the balances of ledger 0L are valuated and the valuation program makes the postings using ledger group 0L and balances of ledger L1 are also valuated and the program makes postings with ledger group L1
In the above scenario, if ledger group L1 contain ledgers L1 and Z1, foreign currency valuation postings would be made to both the ledgers L1 and Z1 based on the balances in ledger L1
More details availble in the following SAP Note
983847 - Foreign Currency Valuation: Balances in NEW G/L
The above scenario works for multiple ledgers only in the case of GL accounts which are not open item managed.
For Open item managed GL accounts, the posting would be made to the ledger group assigned to the valuation area.
    Warm regards,
    Murukan Arunachalam

  • Using new oEhP3 FI or old FI datasources

    Hi all,
At the moment i am inventarizing for a SAP BI implementation how we want to set up our FI dataflows. I came to notice that since EhP3 there is a new way of extracting FI-GL, FI-AP and FI-AR data.
I tried to search on SDN on some more information but couldn't find really the information i needed.
    My questions are:
    - If you have SAP ECC 6.0 EhP 3 or higher, is it required to use the new datasources?
    - What are the main differences between the new and the old flows?
    - Can you use them simultanously?
    Please let me know!
Thanks in advance for your reply.
    Best regards,
    Freek Geldof

    - If you have SAP ECC 6.0 EhP 3 or higher, is it required to use the new datasources?
It is not a requirement to use the New GL Reporting DataSources, per se. If your FI functional consultant(s) haven't configured your environment to use this new functionality, there won't be any data to extract using the new DataSources and therefore the old DataSources would still be pertinent.
    - What are the main differences between the new and the old flows?
The New GL Reporting functionality in ECC6 EHP3 and beyond provides for the posting of not only business financial transactions (as it always has) but also provides for settlement of internal document postings associated with managerial accounting concepts. It also provides the ability to manage multiple ledgers for different accounting principles, integrates financial and managerial accounting reporting (as eluded to previously), provides for segemented reporting to meet requirements for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost of Goods Sold accounting.
    - Can you use them simultanously?
I'm not sure that there's any process that would preclude you from executing both the New GL Reporting DataSources and the older ones, but if your ECC environment is configured for the New GL Reporting, I'm not sure that you'd want to execute the old DataSources (not sure if you'd get duplication of data or something worse if you tried).

  • How shadow accounting for IFRS can be done

    Hello all,
When cost of implementation of IFRS are huge and requires new G/L, Is it possible to have a shadow accounting practise.
Lets say we create a financial statement version based on IFRS accounting structure.
    1. how the apc posting to be made for IFRS depreciation ares.
    2. how the depreciation will be posted in this case if the IFRS depreciation area is made as real.
    Regards,
    Keith.

Hi Keith --- First a couple of points for you.  I would not necessarily assume the cost of IFRS adoption will be "huge" as the cost and complexity of the project will be dependant on your own existing landscape and the industry and country where you will be adopting IFRS.  Really the best way to scope the complexity and cost of the IFRS adoption project is to work closely with your audit/consulting partner and SAP to really determine what the best course of action should be.  Basically, the sooner you engage the better as it will save time and money.
Regarding you second point regarding the SAP General Ledger (NewGL).  Although it is the recommend solution it is not a requirement.  There are other solutions available that utilize a single ledger approach.  For example the use of the "Account Based" configuration approach for the GL and utilizing the reporting capabilities found within SAP BusinessObjects may be the best approach for your situation.  See SAP and IFRS: FAQ document at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60eecedc-7ff0-2b10-b2be-c329c1114298
As far a reporting from a "Shadow Accounting Practice" the SAP General Ledger does offer the ability to set up multiple ledgers which can be used for reporting on different accounting standards.  For example set the Leading Ledger to report on IFRS and another non-leading ledger to report on Local GAAP.  If it turns out that the adoption of the SAP General Ledger is not the best course of action at present then you could use the tools found within SAP BusinessObjects to report on the various legal options.
As far as IFRS reporting from the Depreciation Areas goes, this would require the set up of multiple deprecation areas tied to separate ledger or specific account groups within your Chart of Accounts.   Again for more specific information regarding this questions I would suggest contacting your audit/consulting partner or SAP Field Services for further guidance

  • Consolidated balance sheet for 3 company codes having different fiscal year

    Hi,
In our current organisation, we have 3 company codes assigned to the company.
All the three company codes use the same chart of accounts.
Among the 3, 2 company code are having the same fiscal year variant, controlling area and tha same local currency.
One company code has different fiscal year variant , controlling area and local currency.
Now is it possible to see the balance sheet in f.01 for all the 3 company codes.
If no, could  anyone let me  know if I have to use the multiple ledger concept to do thid.
I am aware that multiple ledger concept appears when the same company code has different fiscal year variants , we can  see tha same posting in different fiscal year variants.
I am not sure if I have to use the multiple ledgers to see the consolidate balance sheet for the three companies.
Please provide me with a clarity on the same.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the extended help.
But Group Chart of accouts should be maintained for all the comany codes if they have different Chart of accounts at the company code level.
It is not mandatory have it when all the three company code have tha same COA.
    Thanks,
    Shilpa.

    Hi,
In parallel ledger concept, if you want to post the entries in particular ledger group separate transaction codes are there
    FB50L and FB01L
here you can see the option "Ledger Grp"
if you post it in leading ledger it update the all ledger based on your accounting rule, if you have posted in non leding ledger it update the particular non leading ledger.
if you want to more about this log on to the following link.

  • FDM/ERPi Batch Loader Error

    Hello,
I have set up FDM with the ERPi adapter and I can successfully import data via the FDM web. I have several locations set up to import from multiple ledgers so I would like to set up a batch process to do this. To test this, per the documentation I created a blank file with the appropriate name convention and but it in the OpenBatch folder. When I kicked off the batch process it failed with the message:

When I checked the server, the file was moved from the OpenBatch folder to a folder with a unique name (as expected).

I used serial batch load. Some progress I have made is that the admin account can successfully run the batch load on server itself. So it seems as if I there is a folder I need write permissions to that I don't have. Currently I have write access to (via a share) the folder for the FDM application I am loading and all its subfolers. Still trying to figure out what additional write privileges I need to get.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Parallel Ledger in TRM

We requirement is just to post to both the ledgers for any postings in treasury.
We can change as per follow
    1. TRM --- TRM -- General Setting --- Accounting -
Organization --- assign accouting code and valuation

Target key must be different from source key
    Message no. SV015
It is possible to use same valuation area and diff. accouting princial.
    Regards,

    Hi,
From what I understand from your requirement, you want to post to both the ledgers from Treasury through a single valuation area.  Please note that by doing so you will not be able to use multiple valuation approaches in Treasury.
In case if you are fine with a single valuation area in Treasury and only want to use multiple ledgers in FI, you can define another ledger group in FI containing both the ledgers IFRS and US GAAP.  You can define a new accounting principle and assign that ledger group to it and In treasury, to your valuation area, you can assign that new accounting principle.

    Ravi

  • Parallel Ledger Setup

Here is my understanding of how Parallel Ledgers are setup within ECC 6.0.  Please let me know if there is anything wrong with my initial understanding:
Define accounting principles and assign them to ledger groups.  Assignment of accounting principle to ledger group is a 1:1 relationship
Ledger groups when initially created contains the ledger of the same name.  Multiple ledgers can be assigned to a ledger group.  What are the restrictions on how many or what types of ledgers can be assigned to a ledger group?
Company Codes are assigned to each ledger.  What are the restrictions on how many or what types of company codes can be assigned to a ledger?
I would appreciate any advice on how to conceptually understand parallel ledger configuration.

    HI,
simply have concept of Leading Ledger and Non-Leading ledger.
Leadgers are client wise ,  Not company code wise.
    0L default Leading ledger.
Non leading ledger  can deactivate company code wise.
Ledger Group:  Means set of ledgers is called  ledger group.
(In group leading ledger is must and it is called Rep.Leadger) .

Can we use GCS to consolidate multiple ledgers (each LE Ledger) with same COA and different Accounting convention in to a parent Ledger which is also the same COA?
If cannot use GCS then what is the method of consolidation that can be used in this scenario.

    Sunil,
Just right click on the created structure and give a technical name and description.
It will be saved so that u can use it across all queries under the infoprovider.
