Multiple Open Document woes

I've been experiencing odd behavior in Motion 2.
When i have multiple projects open simultaneously, the program seems to get confused and often will continue to edit a project other than the foreground one.
For example, i'll have two projects open and i'll switch to the background one using Window>(Whatever the project name is). All the open bins will update to indicate the switch...Media, Layers, Timeline and of course the Canvas.
When i attempt to make an edit to the foreground timeline using keyboard shortcuts, ie. adjusting the in point of the currently selected layer, the change will actually occur on the background project. All of the keyboard shortcuts from that point forward will affect the background project. Switching back to the originally foreground project and bringing the backround project front again does not help.
Worse, if i close the originally foreground project, leaving only the background project open, and attempt to make adjustments, such as to delete a selected layer, Motion will crash and quit.
Additionally, i get odd hangs and crashes frequently. For example, every time i bring the Motion application to the foreground, the program stalls, being unresponsive and displaying the beachball cursor for about 10-20 seconds. I usually have the external video feature routed through my FireWire camcorder, but switching off the External Video preference does not help. This KILLS my workflow.
I've also had various peculiarities, such as keyframes attached to a Layer shifting inexplicably when i shift an elemented nested within that Layer along the timeline. They will not shift in relation to the movement of the sub-layer, but will snap either earlier or later in the timeline, sometimes moving before 0:00:00;00 or offscreen to the right (and past the duration of the Project).
Additionally, my performance is much slower than i would have expected of the Quad with the 7800 and 4.5GB RAM. I don't have quantative results to compare, but simple projects with some text / drop shadows have crawled to 4-5 fps.
My computer is well within the specs demanded by the application. I've installed cleanly with Final Cut Studio 5 Upgrade (using a Final Cut 2 serial number, but FCP 2 was never installed on this system).
The question is really about the multiple open projects issue, but wanted to rant for a moment. I'm really trying to use Motion, but this performance is not helpful.
Any others users experienceing similar behavior? Any Apple gurus want to troubleshoot / provide me with a workaround?

there is one behavior that i can repeat, and maybe you can try to replicate this behavior:
-open two Motion projects.
-close the first opened project.
-attempt to delete a layer in the remaining open project.
-my system will hesitate for a moment, then Motion will quit abruptly.

Opacity/Fill updates impact multiple Open Documents - CS5&4

A weird one that happens in both PS CS4 & CS5, 100% consistently:
When more than one document with at least one non-background layer is open, the amount of a *changed* opacity field value in the current document is also applied to a *selected* non-background layer of the next document if Ctrl-Tab is pressed to go to the next document (or to the Previous document if Shift-Ctrl-Tab is used to go to the Previous) while the Opacity field still has post-update focus. (To avoid, press Enter or otherwise exit the *updated* Opacity field before pressing Ctrl-Tab or Shift-Ctrl-Tab to go to another document.)
In CS4 even a background layer is auto-converted to a non-background layer prior to applying the value from the previous document's updated Opacity field.
In CS5, if the secondary document has *multiple layers* and the background layer is selected in the secondary document, pressing Ctrl-Tab or Shift-Ctrl-Tab to go to the secondary document from a primary document post-Opacity-change causes an immediate Windows 7 APPCRASH event, closing PS due to a 0xc0000005 access violation.
The same behavior occurs for the Fill field.
All of the above is completely repeatable.

Never mind my previous comment. I was able to reproduce the behavior you reported, though I haven't seen a crash (with CS5 12.0.3).

How should a plug-in behave with multiple open documents?

Just about all my knowledge of plug-in development has grown out of the stamper sample. One observation of that concerns it's behaviour when there are multiple Acrobat Pro windows open. If I click the stamper toolbar button in one window, it is then highlighted in all windows. However the tool is only active in the window where I clicked the button. Should I wish to use the activate the stamper in another window, I must click the tool in that window too.
The behaviour seems inconsistent, as the highlighing of the button suggests it is active in all windows when it is not. This begs the question, should plug-ins be designed to become active "globally" when they are activated in one Acrobat window, or should they become active per window? It seems that Acrobat only calls back to the plugin in the window it is activated in, so I cannot see how I could make it become active globally. Taking the other side of the coin, I cannot see how I can prevent the toolbar button being highligted in all windows when it is clicked in one. The callback via AVComputeMarkedProc does not contain context information to describe which Acrobat window is being considered.
This is my first plug-in, hopefully of many, and I would like it to play nice in a multi-window scenario (it works fine when only one window) is opened. Any advice please?

Can't close multiple open documents

I have Lion, and all the iWork updates.
Try as I might I cannout seem to get Pages to STOP opening the last 10 documents I was working on.
I have tried the System Preferences for Mission Control and rebooted and UNselecting "open with windows" or whatever it is.
When I have Pages open I can see these documents when I click on the Pages icon in the doc, I can even open them that way. However, if I open just a blank document and look at the Window menu I do not see these documents.
Also, if I open one and click on the red close button or issue Command-W it will close but still be visible when I use Mission Control. This is driving me crazy. I would like ALL documents closed and only open the ones I want.
Can anyone please help?

I believe you would need to use the lsM[NAME] syntax.
lsM[NAME] is used to specify multiple values for prompts, separated by a comma.

Multiple login prompts on Document Libraries - cannot open documents

My client is running SharePoint 2010 Foundation, SP2. The environment was just upgraded from Classic to Claims Auth and all users were migrated. Users are on Windows 7 and are just now being upgraded to Office 2010.
Multiple Users are getting prompted for login credentials when trying to open documents in any document library.
User clicks the document link
The Office app starts to load (i.e. Excel)
User is prompted for credentials (entered)
User gets 3 prompts
No document open, and no error message.
User has Contribute permission on the library. Nothing apparent in the SP Logs.
Have modified the Registry settings to Article ID: 943280. (AuthForwardServerList
Now, I am stuck. The end-users are very frustrated.
Could this be a Proxy-Server issue? I am seeing some unique settings there. ...michael

I'm not sure if what you're asking is possible, but perhaps this alternate design will work for your users.
Have two additional columns. Each column will have it's own hyperlink, one column for 'By Service' one for 'By Site'. It takes up more room on the page, but from the user's perspective, they only need to click once to get to the report they want, rather than click the company, then select which report they want to see.
Just a thought...

How do I change the keyboard shortcut for Cycle through open documents in PS CC for Mac?

Sorry to bug the community with such a seemingly inconsequential task, but I am seriously tired of using the awkward default keyboard shortcut for cycling through open docs in PS. I'd like to change it to what I am used in in Chrome, which is Cmd+Option+[left] or {right} arrow keys. I noticed this is not a command listed in the in keyboard shortcuts, for whatever reason. Where on Earth can I change this?
If it is not possible to do it by default, is there a plug-in or a change to the code that will allow this basic functionality?

As far as I know, you can't. It's "hard wired" in. Not even Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts is allowed to change it.
However I did find this tip:
Anyway i never found tabs in Adobe application useful, instead i prefer the old school method: simply switch off tabs feature via illustrator/ preferences/ user interface/ open documents as tabs. Then in Mac preferences panel, under keyboard, just search for the “focus on next application window” field (under menu, keyboard and text) and assign a shortcut if the default option doesn't fit you. And there is now you can easily switch between open documents!.
The best part of this is that it can be used in all mac applications, not only Adobe ones. And remember, if you want this working on Indesign, Photoshop, etc be aware of first switch off the tab features so that the system could “see” multiple documents opened not only one single tabbed document.

Error when opening document with ECL control: INVALID_DATA

Hi Gurus,
I've tried to search the net for this problem but could not find anything and I'm stuck now.
Description:
we're using ECL to view attached documents (to POs etc.) which are stored through ArchiveLink on the content repository.
when we try to open this document, time-to-time we get following error:
Error when opening document with ECL control: INVALID_DATA
Message no. SDV004
by time-to-time I mean that when we try to open same attachment again it opens successfully (sometimes we need to re-open it 3-4 times to get it)
what we've tried is to enlarge timeout for HTTP protocol (tx SMICM, from former 30 to actual 60) but only effect we got is that we're waiting for the error longer time
It will be really great if anybody of you guys can give me an advice where the problem can be or where should I look and what to check

use HTML control
empty - maximum viewer wait time
(do you think that setting some value for this could help)
yes - deactivate generic object services in viewer
no - doc display as dialog box
yes - deactivate data provider cache
Storage Settings:
yes - always copy document class from document type
yes - permit multiple assignment

FI F110 payment run multiple payment documents for same vendor l

We have an issue where a F110 automatic payment run creates two payment documents for the same vendor multiple open items in the same run. The payment method for all the open items is the same. I am not able to identify the logic based on which system bifurcates these open items to create two different payment documents. It is standard SAP functionality and we do not have any additional customization.
I have also checked criteria mentioned in FBZP Payment method in company code Payment per due day but does not seem to be relevant. If you have any pointers in this context request you to share the same at the earliest.

In FBZP we have below setting for grouping of items in company code payment method.
1.Single payment for marked line item: Single payment will be created for every line item if this check box is selected.
2.Payment per due day: One payment document is created for all the invoices which are due on specific due date.
Please check if any of above option is selected here.
We have also control at vendor master:
Vendor master data > Company code > Payment data > Automatic payment transactions > individual payment.
If check box is selected then every vendor or customer item is paid separately during automatic payment transactions.

Convert a word document to multiple PDF documents

Hello
I would like to convert a word document to multiple PDF documents. (i.e. convert 20 page word document into 20 single page PDF's). Is it possible to do this easliy and quickly.
I have used word mail merge to create multiple cover letters in word
I would now like to convert each cover letter (which is 1 page each) into individialized PDF's so that I can email them out as attachments
I currently have been copying and pasting from my master word document into a fresh word document (one page at a time) then, saving, then converting to PDF one cover letter at a time. Although this works it is time consuming and I figured there may be an easier quicker way to do this
Any thoughts, suggesstions, would be greatly appreciated

It is possible to convert the word document into a PDF then while the PDF is open do:
Document
Extract Pages
1-20
Check "Extract pages as seperate files"
This will give you 20 seperate files.

With FBA, How to get rid of Login popup while opening document in library

I've enabled fba with custom login page.
I've document library.While trying to open document, it asks for credentials everytime. Due to FBA with custom login page, it does not close the login popup automatically.
How can I get this resolved?

Multiple page document in Illustrator CS6

I am working with multiple page document in Illustrator CS6.
I have saved my document in .pdf.
Before I managed to open the whole file, but now it asks me which page I want to open.
Can I some way open again the file as a multi page file and work with all the files at the same time?

Did you save the file as a PDF while still working on it and then lose the original .ai file?
If you only have a .pdf and closed the file, I hate to tell you, but you're going to have to open every page indpenedently then recompile a single ai document if that's what you need. At least that's all you can do with Illustrator as it's installed by default.
You can try Carlos Canto's script in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4124513#4124513 it's designed to take a multipage PDF and create illustrator artboards from the PDF pages.

Can I covert multiple Word Documents into a single PDF using Acrobat Pro

I'm using Acrobat Pro X version 10.1.10...I'm trying to select multiple Word Document files (Mac Version 14.4.3) but when choosing the files, Word Documents I cannot select them as a convertible file format. If I drag them into the conversion box it says they are not a recognised file format....any ideas?

Can you open any WORD file in Acrobat? If not, it is likely a limitation of Acrobat on the MAC. On the PC, you can simply use the Combine option in the file menu to create a new PDF. The conversion of the WORD document uses the PDF Maker option installed in WORD that must work, but this is the same process as opening a DOC or DOCX file directly in Acrobat. There are limitation with the compatibility of various versions of OFFICE and Acrobat that could be another issue you are having, but I don't know the combinations for a MAC. This only gives you some thoughts to consider. Some of the MAC users may be by later to give further thoughts.
The alternative is to create a PDF for each of the WORD files and then use the combine feature to combine the PDFs.
