Multiple Panes and Resizing

Folks - I have 9 plots on a front panel window. I want to allow the user to be able to pull any corner of the window and have the plots resize proportionally.  I have created 2 horizontal panes and 6 vertical panes in order to have 9 containers, one for each plot.   I have checked 'fit control to pane' for all 9 plots.Only the right-most column and bottom-most row resize, and not proportionally.  Just wanted to know if there is something I am missing that would make this doable.
Thanks,
Don

Hello Don,
I've been playing around with a few things.  I have not found a simple way to accomplish what you described - this is based on the assumption that you want the other panes to "move out of the way" as you expand one of the charts.  Getting one of the charts to expand proportionally is just a matter of holding down the shift key while you drag out one of the chart's corners.  Unfortunately, the chart will either grow and cover-up the other charts (which will hurt performance), or the pane will not grow with the expanding chart.
I suspect something may be done with XControls, but the amount of effort required may significantly outweigh the benefit.
I will spend a little more time poking around to see what some other options may be for you.  How critical is it that all of the charts remain visible at all times?
Best regards.

    Hi,
my user interface is made up of a message panel using the created class SplitPanes2 through the method createSplitPanes called from a class that extends Frame. (will post code if required: lengthy). When the frame is resized/maximized, the splitPanes remain at their preferred size. How can I work on it such that the SplitPanes will resize proportionally too? Please inform me if I have overlooked certain details.

Hi, I'm not sure, but I think I had a similar problem. I tried to place a JSplitPane inside a JPanel and then I got the same behaviour as you describe. Unfortunately I didn't find out why that happened. I simply didn't use the JPanel and then it worked as I wanted it to. (Almost) :)

  • Pan and zoom over multiple still pictures

Is there a way to apply general pan and zoom over multiple  still pictures simultaneously?  I seem to remember doing this in PE10, but don't recall the steps.

If you are in Premiere Elements 10 Windows and not using the program's Pan and Zoom Tool, the suggestion is to apply a pan and zoom effect to the one photo.
Then, select that photo, Edit Menu/Copy. Then, select all the photos that you want to have the same pan and zoom effect.
    Now Edit Menu/Paste Attributes.
There is no "Apply Pan & Zoom to all Slides" for this as in the Photoshop Elements Elements Organizer Elements Slideshow Editor preferences.
I suppose you could create your slideshow in Premiere Elements 10's Elements Organizer Create/Slideshow so that you
could use this "Apply Pan & Zoom to all Slides" for the pans and zooms, and then use theElements Organizer Slideshow Editor's Output option "Edit with Premiere Elements Editor" to get the slideshow into the Premiere Elements workspace.
If you are using Premiere Elements 10 or 11's Pan and Zoom Tool, then please check out my blog post on the topic of applying the same pan and zoom effect to more than one photo.

    Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.

  • How to pan and zoom multiple stills in a grid

    Hello,
happy new year to the community!
I recently did a lot of research in this forum and for the most problems in my project i could find adequate solutions in PrE 11 which I treated myself to purchase at Xmas
But there's still something left: I'd like to align several rectangular cells in a grid, each containing a still image that is animated by some pan and zoom.
I cannot achieve it via the pan and zoom tool since it is restricted to the frame ratio and displays full screen. Then I tried to use key framing for the pan and zoom and cropping the photos. But the crop was scaled together with the photos and didn't remain fix. My last hope was to use an alpha mask which would have the advantage that i could create a fixed grid. But the mask was affected by the animation as well...
I suspect, after reading the post http://forums.adobe.com/thread/996581, that this is not possible without creating intermediate video files for all photos. So my question is if there's still some way to achieve the task or if it can be confirmed that the intermediate videos are the only way.
    Regards,
    phylome

The only way I know to do this in Premiere Elements is to create your pan & zoom for each image and then output each using Publish & Share/Computer/AVI with the DV preset.
Once you've created all of them, put each on its own separate video track, stacked on above the other, sizing and positioning each to fit in your grid.

  • Lightroom Resizing of Photos for PrE Pan and Zoom

Not knowing better, I tried my first PrE slide show project with huge RAW stills.  It worked without crashing or stalling.
For a year I've been learning and practiceing with Lightroom and like it a lot.  It has a very convient risizing tool.
I'm confused on a setting.  Bill Hunt used Photoshop in the article linked by John Smith.  It does not mention "pixels per inch".  Also, I'm setting the "long edge" at 1.5 x the original's 1920 to make room for Pan and Zoom.
I don't know what to do with "pixel per inch" to match or optimize for a AVCHD 1080p project.  I'm guessing at 140.
Screen shot of Lightroom export page:
Do these setting look like they make sense?  Should the pixels per inch be different?
    Thanks.
    Bill

I posted the same question in the Lightroom forum and got the answer that "ppi" settings are meaningless here.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5811248#5811248
While I was at it I tried several things.  One was to use dimensions greater than 1920x1080 to improve Pan&Zoom.  I could see no difference other than the files were bigger.

  • How do I resize multiple shapes and their paths?

I can only ever resize the shapes one frame at a time, will I have to remove the keyframes and do them again?

Tweens are designed to animate a variety of properties, scale being one of many. If you click on the symbol and resize it, then go several frames and resize it again, you'd expect Flash to animate the resize, right? That's just Flash doing what it's supposed to.
If you go inside the symbol and resize the contents it will do what you want.

  • Force subvi to open in one of main vi's pane and stick to top left corner

I have a subvi that opens in a event case, and in the main VI i have several panes, how to force a subvi's run-time position so that it opens in a specified pane and sticks in the left top corner of that pane. i might need to make the subvi size same as that pane if it resizes.
    any help is appreciated
    Thanks

It does sound like you are looking for subpanels. A sunpanel is a special kind of indicator into which you can insert the front panel of another VI.
You can programatically resize the front panel of a VI, but the problem you are going to run into is that a VI that is running inside a subpanel doesn't know that it is in a subpanel and so can't automatically track changes in the subpanel size. You will need to define some sort of mechanism for communicating the size of the subpanel.

  • Multiple Libraries and Keywords

I use multiple libraries. The Keywords from all my libraries appear in the keyword list. Is there any way of splitting the keyword list so I only see the keywords for the library I'm using?

Go into the iPhoto/Web preference pane and select Manually for checking on newly published photos. Then close the MMe Galley section in the left hand pane and forget about them. That feature is really a pain.

  • Use of Java Swing +Applescript to move and resize Mac OS X windows using

Here is an interesting use of Java on Mac OS X and Applescript to
enable moving and resizing of windows using mouse and keyboard:
    [MoveResize tool|http://code.google.com/p/sandipchitalesmacosxstuff/#Move_and_resize_windows_on_Mac_OS_X]
    How it works:
The implementation uses Applescript to get the front most window and
it's bounds. It sends the bounds rectangle to a server implemented in
Java over a socket connection. The Java server takes the screen shot
of the full Desktop and uses it as the Image label (a JLabel with
ImageIcon) as the content pane of an undecorated JFrame which has the
same bounds as the Desktop. A JPanel with semitransparent background
and a dark rounded rectangular border is given the same bounds that
were received over the socket. This JPanel is added to the
PALETTE_LAYER of the JFrame's layered pane - which makes it appear
floating in front of the front window. A Mouse and a Key listener
added to the JPanel allow moving and resizing of the JPanel. When the
user types the ENTER key the JFrame is hidden and the new bounds of
the JPanel are sent back to the Applescript over the socket connection
which moves and resizes the front most window.
    Enjoy!

Copy the /Home/Documents/ folder to the NAS drive. That drive needs to support AFP or you may run into filename problems and/or other file related problems due to filesystem differences.
Once the folder has been moved to the NAS select the folder on the NAS and CTRL- or RIGHT-click. Select Make Alias from the drop down menu. You should now have an alias named "Documents alias." On the Mac put the /Home/Documents/ folder in the Trash but don't delete it. Copy the alias file from the NAS to the /Home/ folder. Rename it to simply "Documents." Double-click on it to be sure it opens the folder on the NAS. If so you can empty the Trash. You're done.

  • How to create multiple reports and dashboards from one dataset?

    Hi there,
I've centralized the data to an excel workbook from multiple data sources and added as a dataset to my new Power BI site. How can I build multiple reports and dashboards out of one dataset?

    Hi Kuber,
In the Datasets section on the Navigation pane (left side of your Dashboards page), you can click "..." next to each dataset. One of the options in the contextual menu is Explore. When you explore a dataset, you can create reports and save
    them.

  • Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?

Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?  If you select multiple clips and select "New Sequence from Clip" it puts all of the clips into one sequence.  Is there an easy way to quickly perform this on multiple selected clips separately?

So now I *have* used Butler with PPro, and it works very well, here's an idea of how to do it:
    Import folder of clips
Ensure first clip selected in bin and sorted by Media Type
Most of these commands need shortcuts assigning - mine listed below
    Macro:
To create seq from selected clip:
      ‘New seq from clip’ (Shift+CMD+N)
    To duplicate this seq:
‘Reveal Sequence in project’ (Shift+F) - not strictly necessary as it will already be selected
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
      ‘Edit | Duplicate’ (Shift+CMD+/)
    To rename the duplicate
      ‘Enter’
Various keystrokes to rename as required
‘Enter’ - to make name stick
‘Shift+Enter’ - to reselect that sequence
‘Esc’ - to get out of editing name
    To change resolution of duplicate:
      ‘Sequence Settings’ (CMD+5)
‘Tab’ x 3 (to get to H Frame Size)
      ‘xxxx’ (to enter frame width)
‘Tab’ x 1 (to get to V Frame Size)
      ‘yyyy’ (to enter frame height
‘Enter’ x 2 as prompt will say previews will have to be deleted
To then find next clip ready for macro to run again:
      ‘Open in Timeline’ (Shift+CMD+O)
      ‘Match Frame’ (Shift+Spacebar)
      ‘Reveal in Project’ (Shift+CMD+F)
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
‘Down Arrow’ - to select next clip
I tried it with Butler (manytricks.com - free trial, $20 to buy) and it worked a treat, takes about 3 secs per clip
AHK (for windows) is at autohotkeys.com and is free.
You could start making multiple macros - that would enable you to do grade / resize in middle of duplication - and then export etc, but I figure you can figure that out ;-)

  • Pan and Zoom and Resolution Settings

Okay I am starting a new project and I want to use allot of the Ken Burns, or Pan and Zoom effect. From previous discussions I was advised to scale my photos 2000 x 1500. Given that at what "resolution" to you recommend for the project?

    AZ Aurora
If your goal is DVD-VIDEO Standard 4:3 on DVD disc and you have all photos (4320 x 3240 4:3 and 3456 x 2304 3:2), then you do not want any project preset settings described for 16:9.
There are a lot of ways to do this, but stay with NTSC DV Standard as your project preset under the conditions above.
    This is one way....
The sizing of your photos can cause problems depending on and in spite of your computer resources....especially if you have about 500 photos. Suggested batch resizing is to 1000 x 750 4:3 for landscape oriented photos. Higher than that, whatever you can get away with without jeopardizing the stability of the project for import, edit, and export.
Set the project preset manually for NTSC DV Standard
How to is at the end of the following
            http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-accuracy-of-automatic-project.html
Go to Edit Menu/Preferences/General and remove the check mark next to Default Scale to Frame Size
Bring in your photos sized to 1000 x 750 4:3, 2000 x 750 4:3, or the original size 4320 x 3240 4:3 or 3456 x 2304 3:2) - whatever you can get away with. Recommended 1000 x 750 4:3. Remember, no matter how high the resolution of the import, it will be reduced to the sizing of the end product format.
When you drag each to the Timeline, they will appear zoomed in. Ignore that and apply Tools Menu/Pan and Zoom
When you click Done in the Pan and Zoom workspace and you are back in the Editor workspace, scale the Timeline's panned and zoomed image in the
             Edit area monitor as wanted.
Please try this on a mini test run to test the merits of this approach. We can discuss alternatives if necessary.
    Thanks.

  • IDML, XSL and resizing of a textframe.

    Hi all,
I'm new to idml, but i think that's not a surprise.
I have an idml-template with 2 textframes without any xml in it.
Through xslt i change the content of the 2 textframes.
But then i have 2 textframes that are overflowed.
    1. Is it possible (by xslt) to automatically resize the textframe? (only the bottom should move down or up to fit.)
    2. If yes: Is it possible reposition the second textframe based on the resize of the first?
I hope this is a clear question.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hmm...
The JPanel that contains all stuff is the JFrame's content pane...
The entire JFrame's content pane contains another panels (JScrollPanels), which are all set to fill all available space on the parent panel (JFrame's content pane) with "both" value of the "fill" attribute.
Should I put the only one JPanel on the JFrame's content pane and all other stuff at that additional JPanel...?
