Multiple scheduling for same reports (with different prompt)
Hi,
I have to plan the scheduling of 10 reports (refresh and then .pdf generating). But i have to refresh these reports for 15 countries each time (prompt different between each instance).
So it will be 10*15=150 refresh done on the database !! Is it possible to make a 'massive' refresh (for all countries) and only filter by country when generated the input format (.pdf) ?
What is the best practice ?
Regards
Hi
then you should definitely take a look at the publications.

WS-SDK Scheduling two instances of the same report with different params
I'm using the web services SDK for Business Objects XI 3.1 SP 2 to schedule reports. I've got it so that I can successful schedule a report with prompts, setting the value for the prompt and running the report.
However, I'm now trying to schedule two instances of the same report using a single call to BIPlatform.Schedule. It creates the correct number of new instances, the last of which is completely correct. The first one (and in fact if I do more than two all the rest except the last) lose the parameter value from the prompt and the schedule information and the type. So for example if I schedule two instances, both PDF, both for 8am tomorrow with parameters of 1 and 2, I get:
A Webi instance, scheduled to run immediately with no parameters specified and
A PDF instance, scheduled for 8am tomorrow with parameter 2
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers,
Jack
Edited by: Jackson Pope on Feb 3, 2011 1:34 PMCan you possibly post your code here that sets params and schedules? Also as you schedule 2 instances on a single report in a sinlgle biplatform.schedule call(): as you query for InfoObject what you actually query for a single report isn't it, or do you schedule a report template and reschdule it previous instance?

Use same report with different MySQL database
I am using CR2008 with MySQL 5.1.
I have a report that works with one of the tables (T1) in a MySQL database (DB1). I have another MySQL database (DB2) with the same table name and structure, except that the data has been updated.
I want to use the same report, but just ask CR2008 to now use DB2 and T1.
Try as I may (using Set Data Source Location...), but I'm not getting anything to work.
I looked for a previous thread on this, but was unsuccessful.
Thanks for any help.
DavidThank you for your helpful response. What I am really asking is this -- when there is a CR2008 report based on db1, table1, and you want to use the SAME report with an identical table in a DIFFERENT database (db2, table1), can I easily use the same report? Or, do I have to generate another version of the report?
Thank you again.

Scheduling in Webi Reports with Changing Prompts.
Hi Experts,
I have a Webi report which is on top of 2 BEx queries connected through BICS. The Webi report has more than 4 crore records which makes it difficult to load each time when I refresh. I need to schedule this report so that the user can view the report based on the last instance.
The report has 3 prompts namely Plant, Material and As of Date.
The user uses only Plant and As Of Date. There are only two plants for example A and B. The user needs to run the report for each plant separately for all the days.
Suppose today is 03/07/2013.
The user will run the report with Plant A and As of Date: 03/07/2013 and second time with Plant B and As of Date: 03/07/2013.
Next today is 04/07/2013.
The user will run the report with Plant A and As of Date: 4/07/2013 and second time with Plant B and As of Date: 4/07/2013.
I need your expert opinion in achieving this while scheduling. Hope you understood the scenario and will be helping me out in this.
Thanks in Advance,
AbdulHello experts,
I am very interested in this topic, as I have the exact same requirement as Abdul:
Daily scheduling of Webi reports, based on BEx queries and connected through BICS. Done on BO4.
I followed Aashutosh's link above, and i read something very interesting on page 3:
Current Options Using Standard Functionality
Until BusinessObjects 4.0 is released, it is not possible to use BEx variables (which will be made available by
the BICS connector) or the last load date variable. This makes it impossible to automate the scheduling of
Web Intelligence queries filtered by dynamic dates or time-slices (for example, yesterday, last week) using
standard functionality. "
Is this already functioning on BO4/Bex? Do you have an idea of how to implement it?
Thank you!

Create wip jobs for same item with different routings.
My scenario is , i am having 2 production lines for the same End item. If both lines are available to use, then WIP jobs have to be created for both lines. If either one is available then WIP job has to be created only for that line. Please suggest the setups for this. This way i can increase the production rate.
HI Jey-2013,
In your organization, you first need to define Bills and Routings for the item/items. Now to use two routings for 1 item, you need to define Alternate Routing.
For that go to BOM>Setup> Alternates and create an Alternate name for the second routing.
Then Go again to BOM>routing and use the Alternate name for the item to create a different Routing. After that you will have two different routings for same item.
Whenever you create a job in WIP, you will have an option to choose either the default or the original routing. This way you can accomplish your goal of using different routings as and when required. Hope this helps you. Kindly let me know

Multiple Views of same Universe with DIFFERENT rendering style, possible?
I am trying to create a CAD-style application that uses several views to display the objects directly from the front, the side and the top using parallel projection and another view that shows the same objects from a freely moveable camera using perspective projection. Everything is working so far, but I would like to display the objects as wire frame in the parallel projection views and fully textured in the perspective view. I have found options to change the rendering of a shape, but that would change it for all views. Is there a way to set different rendering "styles" (i.e. vertex only, wireframe, flat, shaded, textures) for different views of the same universe?
hi
i've tried to do that some time ago and i had to give up... unfortunately i think java3D can't use various rendering modes for the same universe

BO xi 3.1 u2013 schedule a template for multiple reports with different column
Hi,
I need to migrate the existing reports from SQL Server Reporting Services to BO, and the column order in the report is very important to the clients since clients have existing code to ingest these reports into their database. Now I want to schedule a single template with different parameters for all reports in BO, or create a single template with lot of parameters for all reports. My question is how I might use one template to create multiple reports with different column orders in the reports?
For example, client A has the following column order in their report: firstName, LastName, DateBirth, SSN. Client B has the following column order in their report: SSN, DateBirth, LastName, FirstName. Can I use one template to create these multiple reports?
Thanks!Hi,
The only approach I can think of is to create a template report which uses variables
For each column you would need to variable
v_columnAName and v_columnAValue
v_columnAName would have a if statement in it
=if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";NameOf([firstName]);if([client]="clientB";NameOf([SSN]);NameOf([lastName]));
v_columnA would have a if statement in it
=if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";[firstName];if([client]="clientB";[SSN],[lastName]));
This would only work when you had a small set of clients.
This might be more managable if it was done in the universe

Design a single template for multiple reports with different column order
Hi,
I need to migrate the existing reports from SQL Server Reporting Services to Crystal Report 2008, and the column order in the report is very important to the clients since clients have existing code to ingest these reports into their database. Now I want to create a single template with lot of parameters for all reports.
Thanks in advance.-As I mentioned you can find Template Field object in Insert menu of crystal report Designer 2008.
As soon as you select Template Field object you will be able to see a box beside ur mouse cursor. Drag and drop this box at required place. Now when you place this object in report you will get some thing like this "<TemplateField1>" listed under Formula Fields tree. Double click "<TemplateField1>" formula to add your conditions.
-I have not tested it for large amount of Customers. However as the number of customer increases the number of conditions will get increased.
For the customer that want the same ordering of columns you can put those customers under one condition.
for Example...
if(?Client in ['clientA','clientA']) then
<TableName>.<Field>......
-What do you mean be 40 columns? Do you mean 40 fields or you want to show 40 columns in report? Please elaborate.

I have multiple album titles of the same name with different artists. How can I get them to go under one album title again?
In iTunes(on a Mac or PC) just tap on 'Albums' rather than 'Artists' and you'll see them all together.
You may find that there are songs mislabelled. In which case right tap on the Album or Artist and tap 'Get Info', then change to the correct name and the songs will join the rest of the songs for that Artist or Album.
Then resync with your iPhone and all will be well. -
Ho can I schedule a WEBI report with dynamic parameters???
Hello again!!
Here i am with another detail about scheduling, the thing this time is that ia need to schedule a report with one parameter every week but with a different value for the parameter every week.
This is i need this week to run the report SALES BY STORE filtered by week with this value 2011 - 45 (yyyy - num ofweek) but the next week the value for the same parameter must be 2011 - 46
is it possible??? i mean is possible to schedule a report with different value for the parameter each time that it runs???
I know that i can schedule a report with different values for a parameter to send it to severals users whith different data but the values for the parameter are the same every time that it runs and i dont need that.
Any help or clue will be very appreciatedHi Elio,
Do you have access to modify your universe?
Then you should try Dave Rathbun's idea. Here is the link:
http://www.dagira.com/2008/07/21/using-a-magic-date-value-in-prompts/
Note that you'll have to adapt it to what you need, in this case to the week number.
For example if you are using Sybase syntax you'd get 2011 - 46 with:
convert(varchar, year(getdate()))+' - '+convert(varchar, datepart(wk,getdate()))
So you'll new object in Universe would look like :
your_table.week = case when @prompt('Enter week','C',,mono,free) = 'This week' then convert(varchar, year(getdate()))+' - '+convert(varchar, datepart(wk,getdate())) else @prompt('Enter week','C',,mono,free) end
Adapt it to the syntax of the database you use. Then after creating this object in your universe you'll have to go back to your report and Edit the query and use this object in the filter area instead of a normal prompt.
When you have to schedule the report leave the prompt with the parameter 'This week'
Hope this helps

Scheduling a webi report with no access to univ. connection
Hi,
I have a user in BO enterprise, who has access to a report, but no access to the universe & universe connection.
So ideally, the expected behavior is that, when the user schedules the report, the schedule should fail.
When I do a schedule, by clicking on the prompts, and modify, it throws me an error that the Universe and universe connection are not accessible.
But when I schedule the report, with all default settings (without modifying the prompt values), it schedules, and shows a Success status. (Though the report shows blank data)
Has anyone observed this before? Any info on this would be helpful.
Thanks.Hi,
The use-case is:
- An administrator creates a new user (by default belongs to Everyone group) and provides access to a particular report including the scheduling privileges
- The Everyone group does not have access for the Universe or the Connection
- When this user runs the report (View on Demand) and refreshes the data (via the Refresh Data button), the error is thrown stating that the universe is not found/not accessible.
- When scheduling the same report, we see different behaviors (one of the prompt option happens to be a List of Values:
- Changing the prompt values - Clicking the modify button on the parameters page and trying to select a value for the LoV prompt throws me the Universe not found/accessible error (which is correct as the concerned user does not have access to the universe or the connection)
- With default prompt values (i.e. not changing any of the prompt values in the parameters page) - This shows that the schedule was successful and when i open the instance, it shows me blank report - The question here is, why would the schedule succeed when the user does not have the access to the universe/connection?
Thanks -

How to create a report with different page sizes
Hi,
I would like to create a report with different page sizes, it's possible to do it with diadem?
When I change the layout parameters, changes afect to all sheets...
Is there a way to change page size individually for each sheet?
Thanks in advance.
MarcHi Marc,
You can use the DocStart and DocEnd commands along with the PicPrint command to spool multiple print commands to the same output PDF file using the direct printer approach. This should enable you to programmatically specify the page size differently for each sheet that you add to the print job.
' Print PDF Page by Page.VBS
OPTION EXPLICIT
Dim i, Path, OldPrintName
Path = AutoActPath & "2D Stacked"
Call DataDelAll
Call DataFileLoad(Path & ".TDM")
PDFFileName = Path & " Page by Page.pdf"
IF FileExist(PDFFileName) THEN Call FileDelete(PDFFileName)
OldPrintName = PrintName
PrintName = "winspool,DIAdem PDF Export,LPT1:" ' Set to PDF printer
PDFResolution = "72 DPI" ' "2400 DPI" , "default"
PDFOptimization = TRUE
PDFFontsEmbedded = FALSE
PDFJPGCompressed = "high"
PrintOrient = "landscape" ' orient paper
Call PrintMaxScale("GRAPH") ' auto-max, see alternative margin setting variables below
PrintLeftMarg = 0.181
PrintTopMarg = 0.181
PrintWidth = 10.67
'PrintHeigth = 7 (read-only)
Call WndShow("REPORT")
Call DocStart ' Begin multi-page document/print job
FOR i = 1 TO 4
Call PicLoad(Path & ".TDR")
Call GraphSheetNGet(1)
Call GraphSheetRename(GraphSheetName, "Page " & i)
Call PicUpdate
Call PicPrint("WinPrint") ' Add a page to be printed
NEXT ' i
Call DocEnd ' End multi-page document/print job
PrintName = OldPrintName
Call ExtProgram(PDFFileName)

Creating an Exception Report with a Prompt
All,
Having difficulties with this report, and I wanted to see if I'm trying to make it do too much.
Report: Opportunities Exception Report
Prompt: List of exceptions we are tracking (ie...Custom Field #1 not populated, Source not populated, etc).
I tried to combine criteria to account for each exception (since each exception is based on a seperate field), but doing so prevents me from then adding a Prompt. I have also created individual reports to account for each exception. I'm wondering what the best approach would be to achieve the results I need?
Is it possible to:
1. Combine all individual exception reports (all have same columns, with first column hard-coded to identify which exception type that report contains) into one master exception report, with a prompt on the column that lists the exception type?
2. Create a prompt to a master report that, when selected, applies exception criteria that is appropriate for what is chosen from the Prompt?
3. Somehow work with a Master that that has all the exceptions built into the combined criteria, but still gives a Prompt to select which criteria you're wanting to see?
Thanks in advance for any/all help.
Regards,
JTMike,
Thanks for your response. Looking at the suggestions you gave, the first two wouldn't work for this scenario because of what it is we're trying to do. Essentially, we're just trying to find the missing pieces of data that the Sales Team didn't enter in on an Opportunity. So every report is going to be like this:
1. Show me ALL Opportunities that do not have field 1 populated. (Exception Type 1)
2. Show me ALL Opportunities that do not have field 2 populated. (Exception Type 2)
3. Show me ALL Opportunities that do not have field 3 populated. (Exception Type 3)
The report with combined analysis worked great in putting these exceptions into one report, but you're limited in what you can do with it.
I've toyed with the pivot table, but if have a drop down list of the exception types, can I then change the filter of the complete Opportunity list to be the just the one you select?
Thanks again for your response,

The other big difference is the average read time on two days
