Multiple terminal windows on multiple views in Subtle WM?

Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
I'm using the Subtle WM, and I really love it's use of gravities and tags to position windows. The only problem I've run into is when I have multiple copies of the same program/window open, and want them placed on different views.
If I have urxvt tagged to go to a particular view, then all of my urxvt terminal windows will open on that view. But I often like to have terminals open on different views for different purposes, depending on what I'm doing in that view.
I tried tagging urxvt on multiple views, but that didn't work. Is there a way to accomplish this in Subtle?

I've never used subtle, but I suspect it identifies client windows (for putting them on selected tags) by their resource name/class. You can easily set these when you start urxvt (e.g. with the -name flag) so you can have different resource names for different urxvt windows.

Does anyone know host to move windows to different views in Subtle? I copied the code from http://subforge.org/projects/subtle/wik … ve-windows but it doesn't exactly work. Sure it allows to get the window into another view, but it doesn't remove it from the old view. Also, I have 5 active views, but it only works on the first 3.
I'm willing to experiment with suggestions, but I have no idea how to work with the configuration really well. I'm way more used to languages similar to Java, and I could find my way through xmonad's config, but Subtle's config is the most wierdest code I've run into so far (I haven't experimented with Perl yet, my dad say's that it's also very confusing).

Hi,
the form alone will only help you with IDM just like you experienced. The reason is that in LDAP and AD what you are trying to do is not an update but a rename in IDMs terminology.
So what you have to do is:
Find out that the user has to move and move him in IDM in the form. Put a field in your form like issueRename and set it to true.
Clone your updateUser workflow and add a new activity issueRename. In the provisioning activity insert a new transition to issueRename if user.issueRename equals true.
The new activity checks out a rename view modifies it and checks it back in to then continue where the provisioning activity would have gone if you had not inserted the rename step.
To figure out how to manipulate the view to reach your goal use the bpe on a user with AD and LDAP and check out his rename view. Modify it, save it and check if it worked. When you got it working do the same what you did in bpe interactivly with a script action between renameView checkout and checkin.

Open multiple shell window, each one with different command executed

Hi all,
I want to click on something in the dock and have three shell window opened. Each shell must connect to a ssh console, login and execute a command (like ps, top, etc..) and the stays there showing me the results.
I need the three window to open at exact positions (so I can see all of them at the same time) and with fixed width and height. I also want to make them a bit transparent and green on black...

Sounds like you want an Applescript that will open multiple Terminal windows with custom colors that will execute timed sequence of commands.

Spaces confusing safari windows (on multiple spaces using command-tab)

Wondering if this is happening to anyone else.
I love spaces but something is messed when using safari windows on multiple spaces. Say I have two safari windows open on two different spaces, after command-tabbing to another app when I try to command-tab back to safari it doesn't always go to my last safari window. That is to say that sometimes it goes to the other safari window, and sometimes it doesn't. It's super unpredictable.
Give it a try, open two safari windows on two different spaces and the command tab to another app and then command tab back to safari - and repeat... you'll find that it will just randomly go to the other window, and then back etc.
Can't think of anything more annoying in spaces... that's got to be a bug.

same issue. i have multiple safari windows with multiple tabs on multiple spaces. let's say one space is a rails space; so it has some terminals, safaris, firefoxes, all perhaps with 2 or more tabs. command-tab does not necessarily go back to the window of the app i was just in. whether it's safari or firefox or whatever. this is horribly un-intuitive. come on apple. that's like your thing, right?

Keep Terminal window on top (in foreground)

All these years of using Terminal, and I haven't figured this out. Is there a way to keep the Terminal window(s) on top of all other windows?
Or, is there a third-party term app which will do this for me?

Here's what I'm trying to do. And I'll preface by saying that it's a 12" Powerbook without an external display. Let's say I have an O'Reilly tutorial page in Safari that I have pretty much full-screen. My Terminal window is covering the top right part of this page, and is transparent enough that I can see the web page through it. I would like to be able to scroll through the webpage, but keep the Terminal window in view, and easily mouse over to it and keep working there.
In other words, when Terminal is in focus, I can still see Safari, but when Safari is in focus, I can't see Terminal. (I know, I could make the Safari window smaller, but not all web pages will be readable that way)
Focus-follows-mouse only works for multiple Terminal windows; and you do have to mouse over the title bar of the appropriate window for it to have effect. I did find another utility, Mondo Mouse, which works for any applications, and isn't limited to mousing over the title bar (you can mouse over any part of any window to bring it into focus), but again, you do have to mouse over a visible part of the Terminal window. Meaning that I'd have to mouse all the way off the edge of the Safari screen to see my Terminal again. So it's almost the solution I need, but not quite.
I suspect that I'm just working in an inefficient way (that Aqua doesn't really support) and trying to find utilites which will work that way - it's possible that going to X11 for these Unix sessions would give me what I'm after, I guess.
I know that certain utilities have a "Stay on top" feature, but I can't work out if that's something built into the binary that I won't have access to, or if it's a windowing preference that I can somehow hack, with a "defaults write" command or some such.

Command-tab between Terminal windows

Hi, when I have multiple Terminal windows, I want to Command tab between these windows (like I can in Windows XP). However. the MacOS is treating the Terminal windows as one application. Anyone know how I can change this behaviour?

In Mac OS X, Command-Tab cycles only through applications. If you want to cycle through the open windows of a particular application, use the keystroke Command-`. This works for all applications that use multiple windows.
For clarity, the (`) key is just above the Tab key, i.e. the one where tilde (~) is the uppercase character. Just hold down the Command key and hit ` to cycle through open Terminal windows.

Viewing multiple application windows simultaneously

Is it possible to view (float) multiple application windows simultaneously on a MacBook. For example, I am viewing a tutorial on Firefox while working on an image in Photoshop at the same time to try out the suggestions in the tutorial. I have to shift from one application to the other (command + tab) to go back and forth to view one or the other window. It would be great to be able to "float" a window from Firefox over the Photoshop window so I could read the tutorial while working in Photoshop. Right now, if I click on one application, it covers over the other application completely, requiring that I switch back and forth between the two. If an application window (Firefox tutorial) could float above the other one (Photoshop image), I could read the tutorial while still working on the Photoshop image.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You could resize the windows so that both fit on the screen. Granted the screen size doesn't afford a lot of space for this so I have come up with 2 different methods for solving this problem. One is using Spaces. If application A is on one Space and B is on another, using a hot corner or keystroke can change from A to B quickly. My other solution was adding a 21.5" monitor to my work station giving me enough screen real estate for multiple window display.

Reg: Internal popup window from multiple Views

HI All,
I have a Internal Popup window() from 5 views, I am able to open a window and close from view1(according to the docs from SDN).
I tried using the same logic in remaining views(2,3,4,5).
I am able to open but while closing the window event fired is going to CompController and return to the "Parent window" of the Popup. For view2,3,4,5 this not taken as a parent window. Please help me

Hi Naga,
Disable the parent iviews message area before calling the child(popup) window. Then you can get the message in the child(popup) window.
According to documentation, oldest (parent) message area would be used if there are more than one windows (in a layout).

How to use one pop up window for multiple buttons and input fields?

Hi Experts,
I have created a pop up window that will be opened from multiple buttons in the same view. There are input fields that the data will be populated from a pop up window. How can I set up which button that a pop up window is opened from? I also would like to populate the data from a pop up window to the input field next to a clicked button. There are 6 buttons and 6 input fields that share the same pop up window. I would very appreciate your responses.

Hi,
Try creating 2 context attributes, one in your component controller and the other in the pop-up view. Bind the attribute of pop-up view to the component controller attribute.
In the main view, on click of every button set a unique code in the controller's context which helps you in identifying the button clicked. Since u have created a binding to the pop-up view attribute the value flows from the controller.
In the init method of your pop-up view, check the value of the attribute and based on that display which ever UI elements are required.
Eg:
On Button 1 click set value "B1", Button 2 value "B2" etc. In the init() of pop-up view u can check the values and perform the required operation:

Can't open multiple FF windows anymore

Hey there,
maybe two months ago I updated to FF 31.0 and then the problems started.
The first thing I recognized, one of my AddOns didn't work as usual, but I thought
"ok, new FF version, maybe in one or two weeks it'll work as well"
Then I recognized that I can't open anymore multiple FF windows. Tabs works as
usual, but there is no way to open more than one window. I tried:
- Strg+N
- rightclick on tab and "open in new window"
- drag&drop tab outside of the FF window
... nothing works!
A new update of my AddOn was released, but this didn't change anything.
Then I exported my Favorites, uninstalled FF 31.0 and installed 32.0 beta.
I reinstalled my AddOn, few days ago I installed 33.0 beta - always the same!
Please gimme some advice =)

Best way to manage multiple Help windows

Hi all:
I'm working with X5 to create Help for a large modular
application. I have a single Help project, but want to deliver help
content only for the specific modules used by clients. I'm
attemtping to create multiple Help windows with a Main window
containing Help for standard deliverables and other windows
containing Help for specific modules. What's the best way to
achieve this using a single project. Or do I have to maintain
multiple projects?
I tried using customized windows but there are some
limitations. I manually created a new hhc file for a custom window
and it's working fine. But, I cannot open the custom window by
clicking a book in the TOC (which is what I want) of the main
window but can do so by clicking a topic. Also, I cannot assign
separate default topics for each custom window. Further, when I
click a hyperlink in a custom window that links to a topic in the
main window, the topic from the main window displays in the custom
window but it's not listed in the TOC of the custom window, so
that's awkward.

From the user's point of view a merged set of help files is
probably the best solution. Using global windows the whole help
system is displayed in one window and shows only topics for the
modules installed (if you can get your setup people to comply with
your wishes that is ;-) ).
Handling multiple projects is not more complicated than
handling a big one. Each help topic only exits in one project; if
you want to create or update the help for module XYZ_1, you open
project XYZ_1. If you want to edit a topic in the project Master,
you open project Master. After editing a project you compile just
this module and nothing else.
The only thing you have to learn are the peculiarities of the
help compiler regarding merged projects. Refer to

[Solved] subtle wm launching terminal application in different view

Hello I'm trying to launch a terminal application in a different view from the other terminal windows I added the following to subtle.rb:
grab "S-W-i", "urxvt -e alsamixer"
tag "chat" do
match "alsamixer"
gravity :right
end
and I dunno, I just don't have a clue on what else I could need to do.

Alright now centerim is only on one view however all other urxvt terminal also spawn in that view.

are there possibilities to search for images in the dialog window "Select Multiple Images" (if you want to add a image to a record)?
I know the possibilities to sort the images and the possibilities with the data groups. But I don't know a possibilities to search for a single image.

      From the question you asked; its not much clear what your clear requirement is; but if its what i get then the solution is:
      How is that you want to select the image? With Image view or By viewing the image itself ? For it when u select "Select Multiple Images" you can find two as "Available Images" and "Selected Images" and in between u can find some buttons, after "All, Add, Remove and None" you can find two buttons "Thumb Nail" and "view Details". I think you can use these buttons for your solution.
      When you select "Thumb Nail" button you can see the image in real and select the image. OR you can select "View Details" and check the file name or path or the requirement as required.

Cannot open multiple firefox windows

The problem is I cannot open multiple firefox windows at 1 time. It keeps saying that firefox is running or it just spins on the 2nd time that we press on the firefox icon every time I do this. Can you please come up with a solution. Yes we can open up multiple tabs but cannot get more than 1 session running at a time.
Is there a fix for this?

Photoshop 12.0.4 update - multiple open windows show wrong image

I recently updated all my CS5 apps to the latest version. Photoshop (12.0.4) is now showing odd behaviour with multiple open windows.
If I select View > Arrange > Float All in Windows (or drag a tabbed window into a separate floating window) the images displayed show the same image or they mirror each other at random. For instance, if I have two images showing an apple and an orange and float them in separate windows, sometimes both windows show an orange. If I click on the apple image, both images become apples. Click again, and the clicked image toggles (so apple.jpg shows an orange, and vica versa). This also affects new documents.
Things I have tried:
1. Deleting the Photoshop Settings File.
2. Running Disk Utility permissions and disk checks.
3. Booting from a backup clone on an external hard drive running Photoshop 12.0.2 – everything’s fine.
One possible cause of the problem is that I’m not running an up-to-date system. I’m still on 10.6.2 (for various reasons: I’d read too many reports of problems with updates, so I decided to stay put; if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, but that could be coming back to bite me). Before I take the plunge and update to 10.6.8, can anyone suggest some basic troubleshooting or repair procedures I could try.
